IDSM-2 - upgrade issue - 5.x to 6.x

Hello All,
I have an issue upgrading the IDSM-2 module I'm playing with.
It is currently running version 5.0(2).
The thing is when I try to upgrade the image to the latest 6.x version using the .bin.gz file, I get the follwing error message :
The filename IPS-IDSM2-K9-sys-1.1-a-6.1-2-E3.bin.gz is not a valid upgrade file type.
Continue with upgrade? []:
There is no image file that is not .bin.gz on the download section of the website. Only recovery images have the .pkg extension.
Does anybody how to troubleshoot this simple(I guess) upgrade issue?

You are trying to "upgrade" using a "System Image" (-sys-) file instead of an Upgrade file.
The upgrade file for the IDSM-2 is the standard upgrade file used across almost all IPS/IDS models:
IPS-K9-6.1-2-E3.pkg
It can be downloaded here:

Report generation toolkit upgrade issues

I have created multiple vi's in that utilize the previous report generation toolkits specifically using the Generate Report Get Data to Modify.vi and the Generate Report Set Modified Data.vi. Obviously the report reference has now changed in 8.6's version of the report generation toolkit and these vi's do not exist in the 8.6 library anymore. What vi's do I need to replace these functions with to make this code work. Can anyone tell me what the work around is to solving this problem. This is a picture of the code.

Hi BJD1613,
The Report Generation VIs on the LabVIEW Palettes mutate properly. However, you may run into upgrade issues if VIs distributed with LabVIEW, but not available in the Palettes are used in the code. Hence, I would caution against using them for the same reason.
In this case, the specific references do exist in the report generation classes; however, since they are private, they cannot be accessed by VIs outside the respective classes. A temporary workaround for now is mentioned in the following KB 4OOCSJ4M Getting References in Report Generation Toolkit 1.1.3 with LabVIEW 8.6.
This was reported to R&D (CAR# 123064) for further investigation

Hi,
We're currently on 4.6b and going to upgrade to ECC6 with unicode I'm trying to compile a list point taken care converting to unicode from ABAP technical point of view. Does anyone have such a list?
Some points i shortlisted are :
1) Use GUI_UPLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD rather than WS_UPLOAD and WS_DOWNLOAD.
2) Structures or table headers that contain non-character data need to be identical when moving, comparing, selecting into, updating from, etc.
3) OPEN DATASET filename IN TEXT MODE FOR INPUT ENCODING DEFAULT.
I know there are others. Any help would be appreciated.

Errors in Forte 3.5 -Upgrade issue

hello ,
We are having a frequent disruption in the communication SO which has an
externalConnection Class. Did anything change in 3.5? We did not have
these errors in 3L!
After these erros, we have a mutex locking problem which leaves our
application hanging.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

R12 upgrade issue:Not able to login using forms:Please help****urgent

We have recently upgraded our instance from 11.5.9 to 12.0.4 in Windows 2003 server.
We are unable to login to forms after upgrade, however we are able access self service responsibilities without any issues.
We are getting APP-FND-01496 when we access any forms responsibility. We have tried all possible metalink notes with no luck.
Any help to resolve this issue will be appreciated.

ECC 6.0 EHP-4 upgrade Issue in phase MAIN SHDRUN/ALTNTAB FILL were negative

Hi Basis Expert,
while doing ECC 6.0 EHP-4 Upgrade in MAIN_SHDRUN/ALTNTAB_FILL phase we are getting the following issue please help us.
Checks after phase MAIN_SHDRUN/ALTNTAB_FILL were negative!
Last error code set: BATCH JOB RDDNT2MT FAILED: Error(s) found in the log(s), accumulated in "ALTNTFI.ELG".
We check the shadow instance is up and we can log in to the system. Check ST22 and SM21 notice no error.
Check the JOB RDDNT2MT (SM37) successfully running and all the job finish without any error.
Hope anybody can share a bit your experience on this issue. we try search the note and find the forum but no luck.

Frustrating Phone Upgrade issue

We need help with phone upgrade issue we encounter when BestBuy associate process our upgrade. Associate is saying we are not eligible but we have not done any phone upgrade since Jan 2011. Our ATT mobile service was established with BB in 2009 and we only upgraded 2 phones in Jan 2011 thru BB. The only recent change in January 2013 was a change of responsibility between my spouse and me since my company has a better employer discount thru ATT. No change and per ATT, no contract and we should be able to upgrade in any retail store. But BB keeps telling us we have issue with ATT and can do our upgrade only with ATT Corporate Store. Our mobile account is a regular family plan account as originally established with BB and just like any BB customer, have employer's discount attached. I don't understand how BB system communicates with ATT system so it is hard for me to explain to ATT what "error message" BB associate is receiving. It has become so frustrating with BestBuy telling us to check with ATT and then for ATT to tell us that there is no issue at their end. We have been a loyal BB customer with all major appliances bought from them including protection plan. The least they can do is work with their ATT representative to figure out between themselves what the issue is. Here we are willing to give both companies our business with new phones and new contracts and no one can help us out.

IDSM-2 upgrade process questions.

Hello,
I started a new job and have been tasked with looking into what we can do with the IDSM-2 module we have in our 6509. The company has not been using the module so it hasn't been updating in a few years. I do not have a current license so I know I cannot install new signature updates, but what I would like to do is upgrade the software to version 7.0(5a)E4. Once I have it upgraded I would like to configure it in our environment and then see about getting a signature license.
I have a few questions regarding the upgrade process, and could use some assistance.
First the IDSM is currently running version 5.1(3)S256.0. From what I have read I don't believe I can go directly to 7.0(5a)E4 so my Planned Upgrade Path is: 5.1(3)S256.0 -> 5.1(8)E3 -> 7.0(5a)E4.
Am I able to upgrade this way or is there another recommended way that I should do this upgrade?
The files I have for this are below, will they be enough or am I missing any?
Do I apply them in the order listed?
Can I apply all of these files from the IDM GUI?

IPS-engine-E3-req-5.1-8.pkg <--- Is this included in the above file?

Is there any thing else I need to be aware of or that I'm missing?

Hi Will. Since you indicated that this sensor has not been in-use, it would be quickest/easiest to simply re-image it directly to the desired version (7.0(5a)E4). Additional benefits of doing this are that the sensor's filesystem will be created clean, OS/binaries cleanly installed, no potential config conversion issues, etc.
Step-by-step instructions for doing this can be found here.
And, the System Recovery Image file you will need ('IPS-IDSM2-K9-sys-1.1-a-7.0-5a-E4.bin.gz') can be downloaded here.
Will there be any effect on network traffic or downtime during this process?
That depends on whether the sensor is configured in Promiscuous Mode or Inline [VLAN Pair] Mode. You can determine this from the Catalyst config. If the sensor is installed in Inline [VLAN Pair] Mode, then certainly the re-image (and even just upgrade) could be traffic-impacting (if there is no alternative/backup path for traffic to take), as in both scenarios, the sensor is rebooted and not available for ~10 minutes (during which time, it would not be forwarding traffic (if it were installed Inline)). Additionally, since re-imaging results in a clean/default config, if the sensor were configured Inline, that portion of the config would have to be re-input post-reimage so that the sensor would know to forward traffic accordingly again. IDSM2 license upgrade issue

i have to buy IPS license for my 2 IDSM-2 mosules in order to upgrade them from IDS to IPS.
I take a look to Cisco pricing list and i found 2 software code and i don't know what is the correct one: could you help me ?

You can apply the IPS-sig-S202-minreq-5.0-1.pkg Signature Update and all following signature updates to all 5.0(x) versioned sensors as well as the newly released 5.1(1) version.
These signature updates contain new signature definition parameters to support the new version 5.1(1) sensors. These new signature definition parameters are also seen on version 5.0(x) sensors, but are ignored if configured on version 5.0(x) sensors.
The sensorApp binary on the 5.0(x) sensors is updated during the signature update so that the new sensorApp can read in, and properly ignore those new signature update parameters. This was done so that a single IPS signature update file can be used across all version 5.x sensors.
The new signature definition parameters have been added in version 5.1(1) and are ignored if configured on version 5.0(x) sensors. Any signatures requiring these parameters do trigger on version 5.0(x) sensors.
Be aware of the following installation caveats:
You can apply the IPS-sig-S202-minreq-5.0-1.pkg Signature Update and all following signature updates to version 5.0(1), 5.0(2), 5.0(3), 5.0(4), 5.0(5), and 5.1(1) sensors.
However if you apply any of the signature updates to a 5.0(1) sensor, then you should not upgrade to the 5.0(2) or 5.0(3) Service Packs. Similarly, if you apply the signature update to a 5.0(2) sensor, you should not upgrade to the 5.0(3) Service Pack. The 5.0(2), and 5.0(3) Service Pack installations scripts do not carry forward the new sensorApp binary (CSCsb49911). Upgrading to 5.0(2) or 5.0(3) results in sensorApp generating errors while trying to read the new configuration, and prevents sensorApp from monitoring for attacks. For this reason the 5.0(2) and 5.0(3) Service Packs have been removed from CCO.
If you apply the signature update to a 5.0(1) sensor, you should upgrade to either 5.0(4) or 5.0(5) Service Packs, or 5.1(1) Minor Update. They do not have the CSCsb49911 issue.

Windows 8.1 upgrade issues on Satellite P870 - PSPLFA

For better or worse over the weekend I have downloaded windows 8.1 onto a toshiba laptop (p870 PSPLFA model) that was running windows 8. Video card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 2GB with Optimus + Intel HD Graphics 4000

couple of issues:
(a) I am having a few problems getting windows 8.1 to work properly on this laptop and can't get/find new drivers from the toshiba website to sort out the video card properly.
Any ideas of how or when I can download video drivers that are suitable for this laptop?
Not overly keen on uninstalling and rolling back to windows 8 now that I have gone this far...
I have a call in yesterday with microsoft yesterday that seems to be going nowhere to fix a couple of other things following this upgrade.
(b) On the windows 8.1 machine my internet connection when running IE11
now seems a bit flaky and suspect this is a internet explorer 11/windows 8.1 issue (other laptops on my wireless network running windows 7 and XP are working fine and not dropping out as well as can access all the info I can't on the win 8.1 machine) which seems to be a bit of a common issues looking at some other forums and
(c) I can't download or open files from google docs (screen just freezes most of the way through the download) on the upgraded windows 8.1 machine.

Your notebook belongs to the PSPLFA series. This series was released in Australian
The same notebook series PSPLFE is available in Europe.
On the Toshiba EU driver page you will find all Win 8.1 update drivers

_Importnat:_ the Win 8.1 drivers have to be installed in the right order!
Check the installation instruction which is available in the driver list too and follow exact this order!

Remote app upgrade issues..question. help!!!

I have been using my iPad with the remote app to control my iTunes music that is on my Mac mini in my living room. I have had the same app on my iPod and Iphone where all 3 units could request, communicate and interact with iTunes dj...and we could all promote songs by using the vote feature..which would put the hearts next to a song if folks voted to move the song up the list....well with the Remote app upgrade ..the interface is totally different on the iPad now...than it is on the iPod or phone...much more robust...but what has changed ...or maybe I just can't find it.... Is the ability to vote for songs on my iPad to move the, up the list in iTunes dj...all I can do is delete or play it immediately... Abiltiy to vote is enabled in iTunes... Anybody know how to do this in remote app upgrade?

Ok, problem not solved. I don't understand why my ATV3 disappears when sleeping. I wonder if it has to do with the ethernet only. I am going to try wi-fi only again and see if this resolves the issue. Other thoughts are that whenever my iMac is doing a back-up ill behavior occurs - which is the only activity I see that has transpired since all was well.

using tcode pa20/pa30 we can not see any record of IT0000 Actions using 'overview'
but the all the detail actions can be displayed..
the overview (mountain icon) can't show all the records- only happen when we want to overview the infotype IT0000 Actions.
but all the details that we have recorded in IT0000 Actions, can still be displayed (using spectacle icon)
this is only happen in IT0000 Actions
all other infotypes can be overviewed using 'mountain icon' and can be displayed using 'spectacle icon' as normal condition.
anyone ever gone through the same issue?
we have updated patch for SAP HR : SP 32 and EA 7.
the authorization is SAP ALL.

we need more information from you..
1. how to back up the table, is it right that we need to contact basis and ask our basis guy to back up the tables?
2. after we do the backup of HR table T512W, before upgrading your HR support package, then we upgrade the support package and after that..
is it right that we need to restore the table? or that the back up is use to do cross check on the content of the T512W after upgrade?

do you know any other additional standard practices for HR in upgrade project from 4.6C to ECC6.0?? do you have the link of this complete information?
