IDVD 08 "old themes" won't download in Software Update

I have iDVD '08 (v7.0.1 1091) installed from an iLife 08 DVD running on a Macbook Pro with 10.5.4
This is my first time using iDVD, and I want to use one of the old themes that are grayed out. I get 3 options to install the old themes
1 and 2 are "download now" or "download later", which are both supposed to download the themes the next Software Update runs. I've tried both options several times, though, and the themes never show up in Software UPdate.
Furthermore, the 3rd option is "install from DVD" and it asks for Mac OS X Install Disc 2. When i try this option, in put in disc 2, then the package opens and starts the install and it says "This update required iDVD version 7.0 or newer", which I obviously have....

EDIT - i completely reinstalled iDVD from the OS X discs, then went through the disc-based theme installation again, and now I have all the themes.
Nonetheless, it would still be nice for the Software Update theme installation to work...

  • Itunes Won't download my software update..?

Im trying to update my iphone 4 (verizon) to IOS 5 and whenever i try to download it, it stays at 0% downloaded.. or in other words the status bar doesn't move..i have tried to give it time, but it sat for 4 hours and still no progress.

I would try doing it again (running Software Update), immediately after doing a Restart.  If it still does not work, both of those updates are available as stand-alone installers.
The latest iTunes (10.6.3) can be downloaded here

This is the updater for 10.7.4, assuming the current Mac OS X version is 10.7.3

If the current Mac OS X Lion version is earlier than 10.7.3, this is the "combo" updater

It depends on what iPhone you have.
If it's an iPhone 4S or earlier, click here.
If it's an iPhone 5, you need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, and that requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB RAM.

    Hi,
Thank you for your reply, I did go to my general settings, but for some odd reason I don't have a restrictions setting, or a reset setting. I thought I could reset all the setting to see if it could be that, but as I said there aren't any.
My husband also has the iPad 2, and also did the software update and hasn't had any problems at all. I took both iPad's and compared the settings thinking maybe there could be a setting that could have been changed when the update was done.

  • IPad won't download apps or update them

If I bring my iPad to the store where I got it would they be able to answer my question or can you .my iPad won't download apps or update them from the AppStore  when I download an app it just says waiting under it but never downloads the same happens when I update them a and my wifi bars are always high ?I do hope you can help!

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
    If that doesn't work:
    •  Log out of your iTunes store account.  Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
    • Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
    • After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

  • Problems trying to download iPod Software Update 2.0

Ive been trying to download the software update for about 3 hours now, but about every 5 minutes or less i get a error saying:
'There was a problem with the iPod software for the iPod "MyName iPod". The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.'
But, i'm having no problems whatsoever with my connection, it all seems perfectly fine to me.
If anyone could help me at all with any settings that might be able to be changed or something or anything that could stop this message appearing so that my download will actually be able to get somewhere...
    Thanks x

I am having this same issue trying to download the 1.1.5 update for my touch, it goes for a while then times out, over and over.
Over the last 18 hours I have tried this update about 30 times and it has failed every time, never at the same point, it downloads a different amount every time but it always stops...
No information from Apple on this issue ? Poor show, I would have expected better from the worlds best computer manufacturer, they give the impression that they think of everything but then it´s little things like this that let them down.

  • Firefox has been unsuccessfully attempting to download a software update for a few days now... What's the problem?

Firefox has been unsuccessfully attempting to download a software update for a few days now... What’s the problem?

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.<br />
You may need to remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.
    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Firefox is downloading a software update and it over an hour. It still shows "connecting to the srever" What's the problem

Firefox is trying to download a software update but it's been over an hour and it still says "connecting to the update server". It doesn't seem to be working. What's the problem? I have a Mac Mini.

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • Re-download a Software Update to a Deployment Package

    Hi,
Is there a way to force SCCM to re-download a Software Update into a Deployment Package?
When you download a Software Update (right-click the update and click download), the wizard asks which Deployment Package to add it to (an existing package or create a new one).  The update is then downloaded to the UNC path specified in the package
with each update under a different directory (named as a GUID).
My issue is that many of these GUID directories have been accidentally deleted from the UNC path.  I know how it happened and that isn't the issue here - I simply want to download the updates again.  I would like to right-click my Software Update
group, select "Download", point it to the existing package and have all the updates download again.
When I try and do this, the wizard works fine and it processes each update and says "Success" - however, they are not actually re-downloaded!  It's like there is a link somewhere between the update and the package such that it knows it should
already be there and therefore it skips over it without actually checking whether it really does exist.
Is there a way to force SCCM 2012 to ignore the fact that it thinks the update is already there and re-download it?  What I really want to do is change the "Downloaded" field from "Yes" to "No" which I think would achieve
what I want to do - I just can't find a way to do it.
    What am I missing?
    Cheers,
    David

I had this same basic problem on a new SCCM 2012 R2 suite I built. I made all the Software Update Groups and Packages and deployed them. They all worked except for the one for Office 2010. Errors said could not process that package, couldn't find a
folder within the source location for the package, and on the DPs the Office 2010 package was there but had 0 for the size of the package.
I deleted the Office 2010 source update folder and package. Then you go to the updates in question, r-click and select deploy (it'll let you do that even if it thinks it's already deployed), create the new package, let the download run, r-click, and edit
membership as needed, and deploy. This worked for me.

  • I was propmted to download a software update and now my ipad has frozen

I set the ipad to download the software update as prompted. I was prompted to connect the ipad to the mains electricity before running the update. I inadvertently (stupidly) forgot to switch on at the wall socket and left the download to run overnight. When I looked at the ipad the following morning the screen displayed the itunes symbol in the centre and what looks like a usb cable leading from this symbol to the home button. I realised I hadn't switched on the mains socket and did so then left the ipad for 24 hours to charge.
Now when I switch on I get the apple symbol and then the same itune and usb cable image and then the machine switches itself off again immediately.
    Help please!!

    Hi..
Place the iPad in recovery mode > iOS: Unable to update or restore
Charge the battery prior to restoring the device.

  • Is it possible to download only Software Updates for multiple Macs.

We currently have two 24inch iMacs, a 15 inch and a 17 inch MacBook Pro and a MacBook and only have limited download speeds in our regional area and only 1 Gb of data download allowance a month. Is there any way we can "download only" software updates on one computer and transfer the update to the other systems in Snow Leopard, like we did in Leopard. This does not appear to be possible in Snow Leopard. For us to upgrade all computers to 10.6.5, we would blow our data allowance for 2.5 months. And this does not take into account all the other updates that are available for installed Apple software. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Robb.

well, one way of doing that is to get the stand alone installer packages from [here|http://support.apple.com/downloads>, then either mount the .dmg's from the other Mac(s) or copy the .dmg's over the network.
i actually prefer this over software download - i usually install new software while booted into _*safe mode*_.

Disable your firewall/security software and try again.

  • I am unable to download ANY software updates whatsoever...

I am unable to download any software updates, whether it be Microsoft Office, Adobe or Apple updates. I run the update and I always ultimately get a message that there was an error (unspecified) and the update (du jour) could not be downloaded. I'm running Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 and have been unable to update to any newer version as a result of this issue. Any suggestions?

    First things first.
Microsoft Office updates you get here:

    Adobe updates you get here:
