If I Factory Reset My PC "AFTER A YEAR" of Windows 10 Released, I Still Able Upgrade to Windows 10?

HELP~!!!I currently running on Windows 8.1. If I upgrade to Windows 10 "now" and factory reset my pc "after one year" of Windows 10 released, (that means Windows will go back to Windows 8.1??)Am I still able to upgrade to Windows 10 that time? Thank you.

My understanding is the free upgrade is good for 1 year meaning July 29,2016, it no longer exists. So you won't be able to upgrade for free after that date. When you upgrade I believe there's a choice to keep your old Windows version so you can go back to it (8.1 or whatever it is).

• I need to do a factory reset for a Go desktop 6835 with Windows XP Does anyone know how??

Does anyone know how to do a factory reset on the pavilion desktop 6835, ruining Windows XP?? I've tried what I did on my HP laptop, but it only restored the settings.

Did the selller tell you what version of OS X was installed when the machine originally purchased. If it had Snow Leopard on it you have an illegal verison of OS X, as the license for Lion and ML upgrades are not trasferable, they're also pretty useless to you because they're tied to the old owner's AppleID. If you are not sure or cannot find out then call AppleCare.
However if the machine originally shipped with Lion on it, the simply restart in the Restore Partion, do and erase and install and you're set. You can start in the Restore Partition by holding down the Command + R keys when you hear the startup tone and then choosing the Restore Partition and open Disk Utility.

• Can i backgrade my iphone 4s from ios6.0.1 to ios6? - Wifi is greyed out and will not switch on, tried factory reset but keeps restoring to ios6.0.1, please release ios6.0.2 ASAP apple!

So yeah I recently upgraded to iOS 6 fine no problems, a few bugs here and there regarding txt shortcuts not working when imessages switches back to sms when loosing 3g but nothing major.
Then a few weeks ago I updated to iOS 6.0.1 as I thought maybe a few bugs would be fixed. I backed up my phone (for the first time with iTunes). Then after the 6.0.1 update I had (as it seems a lot people have had) a problem with the wifi not switching on and being dimmed out. I tried various "reset the phone" "reset the network settings" options that people have put on these support forums. So my last option was to reset the phone to factory settings- I did this two times, firstly reseting it to factory settings and restoring it to the back up, then reseting to factory settings and setting the phone up as new. After doing this second reset my phone did not go back to iOS 5 (which is factory settings) but iOS 6.0.1 and I still have the same Wifi problem.
Apple- please release 6.0.2 ASAP, this bug is costing me ton of 3g data as I use my iPhone regularly for work and use it at home all the time.
Is there anyway I can back grade to ios5 or ios6?
PLEASE HELP!!
thanks
Martyn

But how come I can't factory reset my phone properly? sure factory reset will mean it will reset the phone and its os to the os that it built with with was ios5?

• Can you factory reset a laptop with a non genuine Windows 7?

A few years ago, my mother bought a laptop for a pretty good price from some guy. After a few days, it gave her a message that Windows 7 on that laptop was not genuine. Then I started using it and downloaded a program to get rid of the message and allow me to set pictures as my background. The laptop, over time, became slow and the memory was quickly being used (only because there was no antivirus on it and it barely had any memory). I gave it to my cousin, and my mother asked for money for it.
As I was ridding the laptop of all the useless programs it would no longer need, the thought of factory resetting never crossed my mind. Today, I thought of it, and I was wondering if it's possible to factory reset a laptop that doesn't have a genuine Windows. Or would it mess it up? As soon as my cousin gets another charger for it, I wanted to try it out and see if that would speed the laptop up by a lot and make it feel brand new. Or would Windows be gone or ask for an activation code?

Just so no viewers get confused, it's the 9 GB partition that contains the recovery image. So if you don't have that big one, you can't restore from the disk.
The 1.46 GB partition is marked Active because it has the boot files. It also contains the recovery environment. (Microsoft likes to name the partition with Windows the Boot partition, but it doesn't have the boot files.)

• Factory reset on HP Pavilion 17-f078no to windows 8.1

I have a HP Pavilion 17-f078no with W8.1 pre installed. I installed windows 7 on it from a W7 DVD on c-drive (wiped the c-drive partition). I did not touch the other partitions.
If I want to get back to W8.1 (as from factory), how do I get back to factory status?
Since I did not touch the other partitions I presumed I could reinstall facotry setup from the other partitions. But when I press F11 and go to factory recovery I have to choose Windows 7 (W8.1 is not prsent as a choise) and then it ask if I want to reset to factory setup. But factory setup is W8.1! I did not make any discs before installation of W7 since I did not touch the recovery partitions.

Dear Customer,
Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you.
It looks like you are not able to Boot into the Operating System on your Notebook.
We will surely assist you with this.
Originally the Notebook will have the Recovery Partition and that would give you an option to create a set of Recovery Disk. If you have not created those Recovery Disks when the Notebook was in working condition we cannot do that right now
As of now if you need to recover your Notebook with the new Operating System you can check if the Recovery Partition
is in a working condition or not, If yes you can easily recover/restore your Notebook
If Recovery Partition is corrupted or not available
You need to call HP Technical Support and request for a set of Recovery Disks , So you can recover/restore your Notebook at the earliest
OR
You need call up Microsoft and purchase an Operating System with the License Key, So you can recover/restore your Notebook at the earliest

• Factory reset iPhone because I'm selling it. Some how it still has data on it. How do I completely get rid of this?

I've recently repaired the cracked screen and wiped my iPhone for me to sell, however when I went back into Settings > General > Usage I still have data that's being stored. I don't feel comfortable selling my iPhone with this info still on it. Is there a way to completely remove this data? I've also done Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings yet this stored data still remains. (see picture for issue)

I have turned off "find my iPhone" and reset through iTunes. Then itunes says "Welcome" I dont sync it. I then go through the actual phone set up with selecting language, wifi, location, etc. Here you have the option to skip Apple ID, passcode and wifi set up (which I skip all) and the phone takes you to the home screen. From there I double check to see if my usage is empty in which brings me here with this problem of data still being there even though there shouldnt be any. I dont even have this iPhone activated with my provider anymore so I cant send messages or make calls yet the data is there when the phone isnt active. Im just really confused as to why after wiping the phone I still have data on it.

• I am a new user of Mac after many years of Windows my question is What am I doing wrong:

I am busy working when the rainbow wheel comes up as would the spinning mouse on windows, I then have to wait for the rainbow to disappear ie the program to catch up before I can continue. It is brand new machine and shouldnt yet be bogged down.
I have to say at this point in time I am not sure that I have made the right move.
I have installed Mac Office as that is what I have used for many years, so firstly I thought there was a confliction with mail and Outlook as window users know that has been an issue with windows in the passed so I have uninstalled Outlook so as not to duplicate. I have cleaned the calender and contact with downloaded Mac Apps. I am now at a loss what to do next because this isnt a spedy machine. Its a 2.9 HGz Quad core i5 so no light weight my old Dell is a Quad and still has enough speed to keep up with me and is 4 years old. So y only thought left there must be another confliction. Please advise as I am not completly in the know as I would have been with the Windows

As to any conflict between 2 different program that do the same thing and are installed on the same computer at the same time there simply isn't any unless both programs are running at the same time and trying to access the same file at the same time. That is except for AV software that runs all the time.
So having MS Office Outlook installed and Mac "Mac Mail" there shouldn't be any conflict at all. Even if you were to run them at the same time. They are both just Mail and contact programs, in the case of Outlook. They would both just go out to your Email account servers and download the available mail on those servers. One doesn't interact with the other. They just interact with your email account servers, which may cause a conflict on the server but not on the computer.
On my Windows computers I have 2 CAD programs installed, Autocad and Visual Cadd, and run them both at the same time. No conflicts between them as long as I have different CAD drawings open in each. If I try to open the same drawing in each program the program will popup a warning that the files is in use by another program and it willl be opened for Viewing Only or not opened it at all.

• After factory reset, can't set up Airport Extreme!

Hello all!
American living in germany here. I am using a PowerBook G4 running OS 10.4.11
I am using an Airport Extreme Station with a Siemens Router. I couldn't get my iphone to work wirelessly via Airport, so I decided to do a factory reset. Now after having done that, my Airport Setup Assistant recognizes my Airport but after clicking continue to proceed, I always get the message that it is unable to find the base station.
I should add that my internet stopped working about two weeks ago. I thought it might be my system software so I reinstalled that on my Mac. Turns out it was my ADSL box so my phone company sent me a new one. I did get my Airport to work with my old settings and the new box....but after this factory reset, my computer can't communicate with it.
Help please....I need to be wireless again! Now I am on the internet via an ethernet cable.
Thanks!

Try connecting to the base station with an ethernet cable for setup purposes.

• Cannot connect to TC, even after factory reset

I bought a 1TB TC from apple in 08/2008. I don't recall if it was a refurb or not. It worked fine for 4.5 years with more or less no problems. About a month or two ago the Wi-Fi stopped working. I could connect to the SSID, but occasionally could not get an internet connection without cycling the power of the modem and TC. Finally, the cycling trick stopped working, and while I could connect to the TC I couldn't get internet. I switched to the WiFi capabilties that my Comcast modem had (as I didn't have time to address the issue then). I've finally gotten around to trying to fix it and could not find the TC via WiFi. I attempted a hard reset, but holding the reset button (while under power) did not make the yellow light flash, even after 30 seconds. I then performed a factory reset by holding the reset button while plugging in the TC. The light flashed, indicating the factory reset occurred.
After the factory reset I still cannot:
-Find the TC via WiFi
I attempted using both my previous SSID and searching for the default "Apple Network XXXXXX" signal. No dice.
-Find the TC via Ethernet
I attempted to connect my MBP directly to the ethernet port (<--->) on the TC but the red light remains on the Ethernet in Network Settings (Status: Cable Unplugged. Either the cable for Ethernet is not plugged in or the device at the other end is not responding). I verified the cable works by connecting the ethernet cable to the cable modem and instantly getting the green "connected" light and an internet connection.
-Find the TC via Airport Utility
The TC did not appear, even when plugged in directly with the ethernet cable.
I'm not sure if this is a firmware issue or what. The lights turn on the front and in the LEDs above the ethernet jacks in the back during power/start up but is otherwise unresponsive. I cannot attempt a firmware update as I cannot connect to the TC by WiFi/Ethernet, let alone through the Airport utilitiy.
I'm not sure if this is relevant or helpful but the TC is also making a ticking/hissing slightly faster than once a second as if the drive is being accessed.
Can anyone help!?! I have quite a drive to an apple store and I'm sure what they would charge to mail in and fix it would be excessive.
Many karma points await anyone that can help!!! Thanks in advance for your time!

The power supply is dead.
Solid amber could also be a dead hard disk.
Apple will not fix it and do not supply parts for anyone else to fix them.
It is really no longer economic to repair unless you can DIY. And even then if the hard disk is gone then it really is a waste.. just buy a replacement.
See https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem s/apple-time-capsule-repair
I have given several methods.. some rough but very cheap to repair the TC.
Otherwise it is just time to buy a new one.. or IMHO a Gen4 is an excellent buy.. second hand or from your local apple refurbish store.

• Factory Reset Hub after new Firmware?

Should you factory reset the hub after its donwlaoded the latest firmware so it properly installs because I see some people say you should with other routers or this this just a myth?

Yes, the firmware may have a new configuration file, which may conflict with some of your existing settings, or the values may may have other functions that may make the home hub unstable if you do anything special, like port forwarding.
A factory reset will ensure that the latest configuration file is loaded. It may be a bit inconvenient to have to re-enter any settings, but its likely to be more stable.
That is why the helpdesk will often suggest a factory reset, as it puts the home hub into a known and stable state.

• Cannot update software from version 1.0 after factory reset

Just did a factory reset on my first generation, year old, perfectly working AppleTV. Then wanted to update the software from ver. 1.0 to current. For two day now, when choosing "update software' the response is that newer software is available but the download spins and spins with nothing happening. Seems like the network connection must be good or there wouldn't be knowledge that newer version exist. Eventually a message states that the software is not available now try late. As I said, I have been trying for 2 days. What's up with this?

Self-repaired! It was appear that the quality of reception of the ATV is problem because it cannot hold a connection long enough to download the software. I took an 11n airport express which extends my airport network and plugged the ATV to in by Ethernet. Result. ATV showed up on iTunes. Upgrade to 2.2 downloaded. And since I only stream, the system seems faster and more solid, so far. Amazing.

• IPad Air - Factory Reset won't erase Data.

When I got my iPad I played with it to get to know all the settings and how to transfer music and pics etc....then after I'd worked it all out I wanted to factory reset the pad so it'd be fresh and new again to add my content....
I factory reset it and after the initial set up I looked in "Usage" and found that...."Contacts & Reminders,Mail and Messages"
....have over 600KB of Data usage....all the other catagorys below such as "Safari,Sounds,Contacts,Music,Videos,Photos & Camera"....have No Data usage....
I've Factory Reset it a few times to check and every time it shows in Usage that I have Data....the amount of Data even varies upon each reset....I've even done DFU Resets and it still shows I have a Data stored....
I don't use iCloud so there's no Data there that's being pushed....I've also run DiskAid and it shows there is NO DATA stored on the pad....
Iv had a call fro Apple support and they said they are going to get the technical people to look into it and call me back....

Iv had three calls from Apple Support about the issue....they say its the data used to build the application....thats fair enough....they all need that....
So how come other applications which obviously need data to build the App show"No Data"....E.G. User Data thats been collected or added?....
But my Contacts,Reminders,Mail still do after a Factory Reset?....
