If I log out of my brothers itunes account and log into mine, it keeps all his music in my account.

My iphone is brand new, I have not plugged it into the computer yet because i'm scared my brothers stuff will end up on my iphone. i go under store, then log out, log in with MY account and all his music/playlists are still in the left side bar. how do i get it completely logged out? my phone has no music on it yet.

If by "left side bar", you mean of iTunes on the computer, that's to be expected. All music is copied to the computer when purchased, so logging out of his iTunes Store account and into yours won't affect anything that's already in the iTunes library. If you want your music, playlists, etc to be completely separate from your brother's, set up your own user account in Windows. Then when you log in, you'll have your own iTunes library, totally separate from your brother's, and can buy and import your own content and sync your iPhone without worries.
Regards.

MacBook Pro  / Mozilla Firefox / Netflix / Silverlight Update solved - DON'T DWNLOAD FROM NETFLIX
I solved this problem tonight. I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.8. I know, it's old. But I love my Netflix and I recently noticed that Firefox plays Netflix much better.  Then I suddenly got this message that I needed to download the latest Silverlight - it only takes 30 seconds! - WRONG.   However, after much searching, I finally did the steps in order and it worked.
This was after repeatedly downloading Silverlight from the Netflix site without success.  So here's what I did:
    1. Went to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
    2. Followed the directions. I felt like such an idiot for not doing it right before.
    3. Go to your hard drive and search for "Silverlight" to locate ANY existing Silverlight files: .dmg, etc.
[also check your Libary/ Internet Plug-ins, but the above search is faster]
    4. Drag it all to the trash and empty it.
    5. Go back to the Get  Silverlight page and click on the Install on that page, not the Netflix site.
    6. Note the steps for Safari or Mozilla Firefox - I wanted Firefox, so I follwed those instructions.
    7. Once it's installed, close all the browsers and Restart that bad boy. Right away.
    8. Open a browser, go to Netflix and proceed to joyfully rot your brain with Netflix content. Yay!

  • How do I log out of someone elses itunes account and log into mine?

I am trying to log out of my fiances itunes account so I can set up my new iphone and ipod nano with my itunes account.  I cant figure out how to log out of his account!  If I plug my phone in while his account is open, wont it delete all of my stuff (apps, contacts) and put all of his stuff on my phone??

It is actually their phone. I logged into my game center account because they already had their account open on their new phone and wanted to play a game against another individual. I am however, no longer in contact with this person and they continue to utilize the account. I did change the password but wanted to confirm that had solved the issue. Thanks for your help!

How do I "log out" or "sign out" of iCloud on my iPhone? There is an option to delete the account, but I just want to log off. I want to keep the account name for future use.

    Turn off iCloud completely
Depending on whether you want to stop using iCloud on all or only some devices, do one or more of the following:
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
Note:   If you delete your iCloud account, iCloud will no longer back up your iOS data. You can still back up your device in iTunes (for more information, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Help).
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.
If your Mac has OS X v10.7.5 and you turn off iCloud, your calendar information and reminders aren’t stored locally in iCal. If you want to retain your calendar and reminder information, you need to back it up before turning off iCloud. For more information, see the Apple Support article iCloud: Calendar & reminder data removed from Calendar and Reminders or iCal when disabling iCloud Calendar.
On your Windows computer, open the iCloud Control Panel, then click Sign Out.
Note:   If you turned on automatic download of music, app, or book purchases (in iTunes preferences or in Settings on your iOS device), your iTunes purchases are still downloaded to your devices.
Set up iCloud on your devices

  • How to sign out of one account and log in with ano...

I can't believe you make it this difficult and complicated to switch to a new account.  Your advice to people on other posts, if they have an old account and want a different name is to set up a new account.  I've done so and every time I open Skype it defaults to the old account.  I can't make it switch to the new account.  This is far too complicated and frustrating.  The only reason I am using this on my Mac is because my work group uses Skype.  I have Factime on my Mac and it is Far, Far easier to use and switch users.  If I type "switch to new account" in the help search bar, nothing helpful comes up, except for a lot of "geek speak", most of which makes little or no sense to me.  I want to be a user, NOT a code writer, get it!  HOW DO I SWITCH ACCOUNTS ON MY MAC SO THAT I"M USING THE NEW SKYPE ACCOUNT I JUST SET UP.
This post was transferred from its previous location to create its own new topic here; its subject and/or title has been edited to differentiate the post from other inquiries and to reflect the post's content.

Under File, choose Sign Out to log out of the current account. You can then sign in with the new account. If you don't want Skype to autolog you in, untick the box that says 'Sign me in when Skype starts.' That should do it.

  • HT1495 My daughter synced her phone to her brothers itunes library, and her iphone now thinks its her brothers iphone.  How do I get it back to normal?

My daughter synched her iphone5 to her brothers itunes library, and now her iphone is calling itself Kyles PC.  Along with all of his IDs and icloud.
How do I get her iphone back to normal?  If I "restore" her ipohne will it delete the itunes library?

Restore the iPhone from the last backup taken on the machine it is normally sycned with. Before connecting the iPhone use Edit > Preferences > Devices to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically or there is the danger that the backup will be overwritten with the current state of the device.

  • Sign out of one itunes account and sign into another seperate account on same macbook.  Cannot access itunes library for 2nd account

Sign out of one itunes account and sign into another seperate itunes account on same macbook.  Cannot access itunes library for 2nd account.  How do I do this?

iTunes account is not the same as iTunes library.
iTunes account is what you use to purchase from iTunes.
iTunes library is what is on your computer.
You can have items from multiple iTunes accounts in one iTunes library.

The entire family has used one itunes account for years. How do we all set up separate iCloud accounts now? Or should we? 5 macbooks, 2 ipads, 4 iphones, 2 itouch, 2 imacs.   How does one decide what to sync, share and what not to? Green Jeans.

You need to start by understanding the distinction between iTunes and iCloud - Apple confuse the issue by referring to 'iTunes Match' as part of iCloud. It isn't.
You don't have to have the same login (Apple ID) for iTunes and iCloud; many people don't and there's no problem about it.
Your iCloud ID gets you email, calendars, contacts, iWork documents and PhotoStream syncing between devices.
Your iTunes ID gets you the iTunes Store, the App Store for iOS, the Mac App Store for OSX,, 'iTunes in the Cloud' (downloading of purchased items to any logged-in device) and 'iTunes Match' (uploading of songs not purchased in the iTunes Store).
Your family members can easily each get their own iCloud account to keep email etc. separate - in each case they will need a different non-Apple email address (a free one from Yahoo etc. would do) to set up the ID. If they are sharing a Mac they need to be using a separate user account.
They can have their own iCloud accounts and still all sign into the same iTunes account: or they can open their own iTunes accounts using their new iCloud Apple IDs.
BUT they cannot transfer items purchased under the present iTunes ID to different iTunes IDs.

  • My itunes crashes and I can't open it all. HELP

My itunes crashes and I can't open it all. Just installed the latest version 10.5.1. I can't even get it to open to try and figure out what is wrong. Can I uninstall it and reinstall the less recent version which was working? Help!!
I am not a computer guru, the reason that I love my MacBook Pro is that I don't have to worry about it, now I am worrying, because I can't get into my itunes at all. I would trash the new version of itunes and find an older version (I did try reinstalling 10.5.1) as long as I was reassured that I wouldn't lose all my music.
    Thanks all.

    Sorry to hear.
Wow, first iPad crisis with vs 5 & 501, now this?
I see the update waiting right now for my MBP, and is why I'm here to see what's up.
On the software update panel, it's all about cloud service.
Looks like 10.5 is the end of the road for me.
I can see having gaming on cloud, but with the work I put into my tunes, no way.
We'll see how people react as time goes, and the next crisis.

  • TS3297 Is it possible for itunes on my MacBook Pro to play songs off my networked WD external hard drive and sync to my iPhone? I prefer to not keep all my music on my laptop and I don't want to pay $25 a year to access my songs if I don't have to.

Is it possible for itunes on my MacBook Pro to play songs off my networked Western Drive external hard drive so I can sync to my Mac to my iPhone? I do not want to keep any music on my laptop and I don't want to pay $25 to itunes match a year to access my songs if I don't have to.

    Hi turingtest2,
Thank you for replying.  I've been looking at your posts about setting up iTunes using an external drive.  A bit of background info.  My old computer broke down, so I got a new one from work.  I've always kept my music files on my external drive (I have around 170GB of music).  I didn't follow the suggestions in the "migrate iTunes library" post because my old computer died on me.  However, I've looked at your posts about lay out of the iTunes folders.  Before connecting to iTunes on the new computer, I had reorganized my iTunes folder on my E: external drive, and created an iTunes folder which contains an iTunes Media subfolder.  The music files are in a Music folder, which is in the iTunes Media folder.  I've also put the following files in my iTunes folder: iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, iTunes Music Library.xml, as well as sentinel.  I then followed the advice you gave bmw99 on 2 Nov 2013 at 9.58 (sorry, can't copy the exact answer).
Just to clarify:  I'd like to keep all my music media on the E: external hard drive (the computer hard drive is too small), and I'm aware i might never have my playlists back, and that all the songs in my library might be ticked.  However, I don't want my library to be duplicated.
I'm at work at the moment, but will be back home in about 10 hours, so I can be more specific about folders / files names.
I'm glad you picked up my message and greatly appreciate your help.
    Patrice

Try going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".   If that doesn't work, you'll have to tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different Apple ID for iMessage.

  • I need to get the music off my Ipod Nano 2nd GEN onto either ITunes or in a music foldes on my new computer. Not all the music was purchased from Apple Itunes HOW DO I DO THIS WITHOUT LOOSING ALL MY MUSIC??

I have not had a computer for several years and I just got a new one. My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. Thank goodness I had it all on my Ipod Nano 2nd GEN. Now my problem is that I don't know how to get the music off my Ipod Nano onto my new computer!!! I was able to get the songs that I purchased thru ITunes by just authorizing my new computer. But I have alot more music that is on my Ipod nano that I can't put into my ITunes library. In fact, I can't even get my music into a file folder on my computer!! I really need help. I don't have any copies of the music anywhere else and some of it is hard to get. How do I get my music either into ITunes or into a file folder on my new computer or even if I could get my computer to recognize my Ipod and sync all the music into windows media or something like that. Every time I connect my IPod all that happens is that it tells me if I sync the IPod that it will replace all the music from my ITunes library on to my IPod. And I am guessing that means all my music on the IPod will be erased. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Thanks from the bottom of my songsters heart

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.
