Is there a way to eliminate duplicates without doing it one by one?

A photo exists in only one event.  However, it can be in multiple albums, slideshows, books, etc. without taking up any additional disk space.
If you truly have duplicates in iPhoto, not as viewed via the Finder  you can use one of these applications to identify and remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:
iPhoto Library Manager - $29.95
Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto - free
Duplicate Annihilator - $7.95 - only app able to detect duplicate thumbnail files or faces files when an iPhoto 8 or earlier library has been imported into another.
PhotoSweeper - $9.95 - This app can search by comparing the image's bitmaps or histograms thus finding duplicates with different file names and dates.
DeCloner - $19.95 - can find dupicates in iPhoto Libraries or in folders on the HD.
Some users have reported that PhotoSweeper did the best in finding all of the dups in their library: i photo has duplicated many photos, how...: Apple Support Communities.
If you have an iPhone and have it set to keep the normal photo when shooting HDR photos the two image files that are created will be duplicates in a manner of speaking (same image) but the only diplicate finder app that detected the iPhone HDR and normal photos as being duplicates was PhotoSweeper.  None of the other apps detected those two files as being duplicates as they look for file name as well as other attributes and the two files from the iPhone have diffferent file names.
iPLM, however, is the best all around iPhoto utility as it can do so much more than just find duplicates.  IMO it's a must have tool if using iPhoto.

I have used the "description" spot in iPhoto for in-depth additional information for photos of my ancestors. Now I am wanting to know if there is a way to print the photos along with the descriptions; either photo by photo, or maybe more than one per page, or possibly in some sort of booklet format. Thank you very much.

You can make a Book and have a photo on one side and your text description on the other.

  • Is there a way to view all music without albums on itunes 12.0.1.26?

Is there a way to view all music without albums on itunes 12.0.1.26?

Try the Songs option from the drop down list control near the top right. Use the same control to turn off Show Artwork if needed/desired.

  • I have "doubles" of all my songs in my library.  Is there a way to delete the "extra" without doing it one at a time?

I have "doubles" of all songs in my library due to my ignorance about transferring from old computer to new.  Is there a way to delte all of the extras without doijng it one-by-one?

I have tried rebooting, but everything was still frozen afterward.  I've considered doing a restore on the computer, but that would probably wipe all of my saved information out as it's never been connected with the computer before. Also, during a restore, it asks you to confirm information on your iphone screen, which is impossible to do with it being frozen.

  • Is there a way to delete all duplicates, other than one by one?  some free program or does itunes have one to just identify and delete all duplicates in the library?

How do I delete duplicates in my library as a group, rather than one by one?

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

  • Twice as much disk space used on external HD for TM than internal HD

Disk Utility shows the amount of disk space used by TM as 86 GB whereas the HD only shows 45 GB used. Also, the number of files and folders have nearly doubled in size. This from only two days of using TM.
My Seagate FreeAgent Go External Hard Drive for Mac - 500GB, USB 2.0, FireWire 800, FireWire 400 external hard drive has been partitioned into two segments, one for TM, the other for SuperDuper.

Since TM keeps previous version of things you've changed or deleted, in addition to everything currently on your system, yes, it will use more space.
But to be twice the size in two days is clearly not right. Chris is probably correct, that TM has been backing-up the SuperDuper "clone" as well. If so, you can delete the backups of it -- see #12 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
If that's not the case, see #9 there for a way to find out what's taking up so much space. If you find things being backed-up that you don't recognize, post back with the name(s) and location(s); somebody here will likely know what they are.

  • HT201272 I just purchased an album and only 5 songs fully play out of 15 songs. Is there any way of fixing this problem without having to repurchase this album?

I just purchased an album and I cannot get all the songs to play. I was wondering if there was some sort of simple fix or do I have to repurchase this album?

Could be a corrupt download of those particular songs...
If you live in a Region that allows re-downloading Music...
    Delete the Song(s) and re-download...

  • In Iphoto I have MANY duplicate photos. Is there a way I can rid the duplicates without doing them individually?  Thanks Dave

I have dozens of duplicate photos in Iphoto. Is there a way of deleting the duplicates without doing each one
    individually?  Thanks Dave

No - Diplicate Annihilator does not "accidently" duplicate anything - in fact is does not change anything - it simply identifies duplicates and markes them so you can easily deal with them
and iPhoto does  not duplicate photos - randomly, accidently or on purpose - duplicate photos are the result of user action like importing an iPhoto library into another iPhoto library (NEVER do that), telling iPhoto to importa all rahter than selected or other user errors
As to specific help you need to start a new thread and give exact details on your system and what you are doing and what exactly is happening

  • If I have more than one library, how can I upload all photos to iCloud??

I have a couple of different iPhoto libraries. Now that I've upgraded to photos, I am using iCloud and it is currently uploading all the photos & videos from the library Initally opened. How can I upload the other libraries into iCloud?  Will they automatically upload once I use the option key and open the different library??
Also, does Photos need to be running for things to upload to iCloud?
    Thanks!
    Kristin

See the quote below from Designate a System Photo Library in Photos - Apple Support
iCloud and the System Photo Library
You can use iCloud Photo Library, iCloud Photo Sharing, and My Photo Stream only with the System Photo Library. If you choose a different library in Photos without designating it as the System Photo Library, the iCloud tab in Photos preferences is disabled:
If you designate a new library as the System Photo Library and then turn on iCloud Photo Library, the photos and videos in the new library will merge with those already in your iCloud Photo Library. If you want to keep the contents of your photo libraries separate, don’t turn on iCloud Photo Library for more than one library in Photos.

  • I duplicated all the pictures in my library. Is there any way to delete the duplicates at one time without going and deleting them one by one

I duplicated all my pictures. Is there any way to delete the duplicates without deleting them one at a time. I now have 44,000 pictures and have 22,000 duplicates

Easiest solution: restore from your back up.
Other than that: For dealing with duplicates in iPhoto check out Duplicate Annihilator or Decloner

  • Filter photos that are located in more than one album

I'm trying to organise my iPhoto events onto albums in the new photos app in 10.10.3, however, I think I messed up with a bunch of photos and need to start clean, I need to be sure that one specific photo or group of photos are located in a single album, kinda like iPhoto used to work with events, I know a photo can be in more than one album at a time, but how do you tell with filters?
Tried to create smart album but seems to be no criteria for that.
    Thanks.

You can't.  You know that during the conversion from iPhoto to Photos all of your current iPhoto Events also were converted to albums inside the folder in the sidebar titled "iPhoto Events".
So you only have to worry about new imports which go into Moments.

  • I want to order photos on iPhoto. I have logged in one photo, and then my choices are cancel and buy now. How do I order more than one photo at a time?

I would like to order more than one photo on iPhoto. I have downloaded one picture, and then my choices are cancel and buy now. I would like to download other photos to have them printed, too. How do I do that?

Wich version of iPhoto do you have? You need iPhoto '09 or '11 to order prints.
Make an album of all photos you want to order in the same order.
Then select all photos at once, when you use Share > order prints.
You should see a panel like this, where you can mark the quantities. The screenshot is from iPhoto 9.6:

  • Photo albums-how do you make more than one?

I was wondering if anybody knows how to make more than one photo albumon the iphone..like not just the photo roll thing
I looked more than once on the site but just cant figuire it out!!!
Do i like make them through itunes or something?
Also, i have not gotten the most recent update, but i have read alot of photo complications and im not sure i want to update it..I have already taken 300 pictures on my phone and i have had it sice Jan. So I need help with a lot of this photo thing
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!

It isn't possible to create albums on or with the iPhone.
You can create photo albums on your computer by creating and naming a folder, and then place the designated photos on your computer within the folder.
Create a primary/parent folder that will contain only folders than contain photos.
Select this parent folder under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences and then sync.
If you haven't already done so, you need to transfer all photos captured by your iPhone to your computer and then delete the captured photos from your iPhone after being successfully transferred to your computer. If you want any of these photos available on your iPhone for viewing, you can place the photos in a folder or folders that are transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process.

  • Does I photo duplicate images when added to more than one album?

I am trying to eliminate duplicates in IPhoto.  Is each image duplicated if addes to more than one album?

There are no duplicates in iPhoto unless you import multiple copies of a photo
Albums do not exist with photos in them. Pacing a photo in an album simply makes an entry in the iPhoto database and takes no space

  • How do I add more than one photo albums to the Ipad2

I have an Ipad2. I can transfer a photo album from my computer to the Ipad, but when I try to add another album, the first album gets wiped off the Ipad2. How can I install/copy/synch more than one photo album on Ipad2

Sounds like you are a Windows user or if you are a Mac user, you are manually managing photo storage on your computer without using a photo management application like iPhoto.
Create a parent folder which will contain the separate albums or folders of photos only that you want transferred to your iPad. Select the parent folder under the Photos tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes.
To remove an entire album or folder of photos from your iPad, move the album or folder of photos out of the parent folder on your computer's hard drive followed by a sync. To remove an individual photo from your iPad without removing the entire album or folder of photos, move the photo from the album or folder of photos on your computer followed by a sync. To add another album or folder of photos to your iPad, place the album or folder of photos in the parent folder followed by a sync.
