If/Then Logic in Email Templates (CRM 2015)

Is it possible to use If/Then logic in an email template, so that we can display certain portions of the email template, based on data from the Account record?
If not within CRM, is there an ISV product that performs this function?

Functionally, how are these e-mails sent at the moment?
You could achieve this by creating a workflow with your logic, and depending on the If's/Else's, create an e-mail message with the intended templates - then include the info you pretend on these templates.
The workflow would have to run on-demand or triggered by an event on the entities.

    Hi All.
    Today's update.
    According to the Order Tracker-
    Apparently, as of Friday the 10th of August, my BT Infinity 2 service installation was completed. Funny, I don't remember an OpenReach engineer breaking in and installing an Infinity wall-plate, and setting up my non-delivered and thus non-existent HH3!
    Also, about an hour ago from this post time, around 1600hrs on Wednesday the 15th of August, my "New" Evening and Weekend Calling Package went "Live". I believe I have had that package all along. One of my gripes was that I was taken off the Anytime Package.
    Hang on! What's this that came in the post earlier today? Dated the 10th of August - I am being informed that my "Unlimited Anytime Plan" is being set up. Cool! Ah, no completion date, but I was told over the phone, on the 10th, that it will have gone live by midnight of the 10th.
    So, have I got it, or not? Any of it?
    So. Still no second Infinity line.
    Yes I know, some of you poor buggers cannot even get Infinity, but thanks to my Lodger and the general incompetence of one BT department or another, neither can I!
    I am posting this over my trusty 1Mbps ADS2+ line, while trying to download a 3.2GB disc image from MS TechNET. Apparently, it is going to take me nearly 10 hours at the current speed. I have at least five more large images to download.

  • Email Template Issue in MS CRM 2015 Online

    Hi,
    We recently upgraded the CRM form 2011 on premise to MS CRM 2015 online.
    We are facing the issue in Email Templates navigation in MS CRM 2015 online version as mentioned below.
    SETTINGS-->TEMPLATES-->Email Templates getting the following error message.
    I have deleted all the email templates in DEV instance but still this error occurred.
    Please help how to resolve this issue. Its very urgent.

    Dear all,
    Can anyone confirm if the email editor comes with the Dynamics CRM 2015 On-premise version and Online version?
    I have many reviews saying that we have email editor in the Dynamics CRM 2015 version but I am unable to find it.
    Any help/ guide would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can CRM 2015 Online use the CRM 2013 Email Router?

    We are trying to plan our upgrade to CRM 2015 Online from CRM 2013 Online. We currently use the CRM 2013 Email Router and want to know if we need to upgrade the email router immediately after the CRM server is upgraded or if we could wait a short period
    of time. I searched but could not find any information on the Email Router compatibility. Does anyone have any information?

    Why are you using the email router if your Exchange Server is also Online?  Dynamics CRM Online has Server Sync built in so it will directly communicate to Exchange Online.  Much better solution than rolling up an email Router. 
    Also, if you don't have access to the Exchange server, I' doubt there's much you can do, since you don't have all the tools you need to troubleshoot the issue.

    I can no longer select text in email template or read only field using my mouse in IE or Firefox anymore. We are using CRM 2011 rollup 18 applied with IE 11 and the latest version of Firefox. We only applied roll up 18 in Feb when this issue began.

    When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
    Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
    (You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
    orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
    On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
    These features rely on JavaScript, and it sounds as though you have scripting enabled if you get (the wrong) color changes. Some add-ons might alter the way scripts operate, so a standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
    First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
    Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
    Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
    If those features work correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
    To also disable plugins, you can use this page:

  • Email Template on CRM5.0

    Hi Guys
    Ive created email templates on our development box. And its displayed when i log onto webclient. Transported config onto QA and the config is the exact same as on DEV. But when I open the webclient on QA, templates are not reflecting
    This is the steps ive taken
    Ive created template under SAP menu- Marketing- Personalized Mail - Maintain Mail Template
    Went to IMG-CRM-Interaction Center Webclient-Basic Function- Communication channels - Define Standard response Groups
    Clicked on new entry and entered following
    Std Response Group = Z**stdrespgroup
    Form Name = z**"
    Save and transported the changes
    Then went back to IMG- CRM-Interaction Webclient- Basic Function- Communication Channels- Define Email profile
    Chose my required email profile = z**
    Entered std response group = z**stdrespgroup
    Saved changes
    Templates only visible on DEV and NOT on QA
    Note : Ive created this on both environments, Config as the exact same! still no luck!
    Pls help!!!

    Hey Mantas,
    Do not expect that feature any time soon. I do not even see that being a feature this year.
    Considering all that is going on and required to be finished and sorted a lot more is/will need to be done.
    In terms of what you can do I have done things like used the refer a friend form which you can style and use that to send emails out to the needed people. I have submitted multiple web forms with ajax etc as well.
    You have the custom fields for the people and emails (if not you can add them) and you can use those to send emails off to people, you just do not have a workflow so your not pestered with it but the notification message is the one that goes out and can have a template applied.
    So there is a number of things you can do to get that going along those lines. I have done a few variations of this on different sites.
    Warning note though - Ajax submission for custom web forms has a total character limit (all fields) of 1024 characters, which is not a lot.

    In CRM 2015, product catalogs were introduced with properties that were user defined.  I need to access the properties of each product to include them in a workflow. Does anyone know how this can be achieved?

    Are you are trying to send the attributes of the products on an email?
    This is being captured in a new entity called "Property" where these attributes are stored. Unfortunately you will not be able to write a system workflow on this entity. You may have to handle this by writing a code
    to achieve this.

  • CRM 2015 installation hangs without errors on Windows Server 2012 installed in a VM

    I have installed a Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012 on a VM using VMware Player and then installed Dynamics CRM 2013, working out all the configuration problems.
    The installation hanged once without errors and when I tried it again it was installed, no problems. Dynamics CRM 2013 works without issue.
    Then I copied the machine, uninstalled the Dynamics CRM 2013 and started installing CRM 2015. However this time without errors the installation hangs even though I tried more than 5 times.
    There are no errors, installation program is not unresponsive and task manager shows nothing out of the ordinary.
    I have also tried this on multiple physical and virtual PCs to no avail.

    Try to Delete the registry files of CRM before you start the installation : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMSCRM

    We have been having issues with links on our email templates. Some of the links point to the following URL:

    Sometimes we get “Unknown internal error” on the web page.

    This is rather late, but we've seen the same thing frequently (and I believe can replicate it).  It's caused when you a creating a new email by copying the content of an existing one with a name space in it.
    Upon copying, the link gets scrambled.  The approach we use is to copy the email in to a new template, then strip out all of the URL links and add them back in.

    Hi,
    I have a new requirement that the standard text mail should be sent out as an HTML Email.
    I was thinking of a HTML template which would have "customized tags" which I can replace at run time based on the data from some datasource.
    The Email Template should look like:
    Dear {FirstName} {LastName},
    {Section1}
    {Section2}

    {SenderName}
    The tags between '{}' would be replaced dynamically based on the database values. I have the existsing program running within an EJB. I need to store the HTML content in some place [preferablly deployment descriptors] and then lookup at the information at run time, replace and send email. I am not able to have HTML characters within ejb-jar.xml.
    This is one idea. I also though of having a properties file or a local system file to get the data. I am not convinced with these ideas.
    Are there any other better approach for this situation?

    Yes that is right what is mentioned above, first you give the company code and name then give the currency then select address (Shift+F5) and in that if you select country as IN then it will automatically come to master data.

    Do you use iPhoto? What version are you using and have you sent photos using it from the iPhoto and used the older templates?

    one last time if you want help you have to start by being percise and shaing information - for example "older version" is of no help since there are 40 or 50 older versions

  • Custom Workflow Email Template

    Hi All,
    We have created a custom email template using components.
    At the applicable steps in the WF process we use wfNotify("user","user","CUSTOM_TEMPLATE") to use the cuystom template for email.
    The problem we have is that the users then receive 2 emails, the system one and the custom one. Not sure if there is a better way to do this?
    We have tried using the <$wfSetIsNotifyingUsers(0)$>to disable the notifications to then send just the custom email one out, which does work, but the issue is that then on the "My Workflow Assignments" Page, the step in the flow doesnt get assigned to that user. The user can still go update from the Active Workflow Page, but not ideal.
    Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

    I think what you are looking for is a "token" and not just a notification. Assigning the users to a step is different than just notifying a user in a given step. For example, you may want to notify the document's author if something is taking too long to get through workflow but not allow the original author to just push it through themselves. To assign it to that person you'd create a token and then add that token to the step. The documentation should be about to help you out with creating the token. If not, just post another question.
