IIS configuration

Just installed CF Expess on my local machine configured with
IIS. Getting the following error:
Error Diagnostic Information
Attempt to access a Session variable when session management
is not enabled. Use the CFAPPLICATION tag to enable session
management.
Note: This feature may have been disabled by the site
administrator.
The error occurred while processing an element with a general
identifier of (CFPARAM), occupying document position (9:1) to
(9:85).

Thanks in advance

Just do what the error message suggests. Make sure that
session
management is allowed in the ColdFusion Administrator, and
that you have
defined an Application and enabled session management with
either a
<cfapplication...> tag OR a Applicaiton.cfc
this.sessionManagement
parameter.

  • Monitoring two servers with same IIS configuration using SCOM

    Hello,
We have two servers which has the same IIS configuration including sites names, how do we configure APM to monitor and get events captured on two different monitors on SCOM 2012 R2.
    Thank you, Anand
    Anand Franklin

    Hi Anand,
There is no problem at all, if applications IIS paths (Web Site names + Web application name in IIS) absolutely match. Make sure both servers have SCOM Agent installed and connected to the same Management Group.
In .NET Application Performance Monitoring template just keep Target Group field blank (it's blank by default) - that will mean the application will be monitored on each server within Management Group where it's discovered. The same configuration of
APM monitoring will be used for all app instances.
If you want to monitor the app only on two servers, and at the same time the app is hosted on more than these two boxes, you can create Windows Computer group populated with appropriate servers and specify this group as Target for APM monitoring.
If you want to differentiate APM configuration for specific app instances, you should create several Windows Computer groups and bind each group with separate configuration - in this case you will have to run .NET Application Monitoring template several
times, picking up the same app, but changing APM settings and setting new Target Group.

  • Error in IIS Configuration while Server Diagostic

    Hi Guys,
While running the Server Diagnostic, I get error on IIS Configuration Step.
    X Osoft virtual directory
X Cannot get Osoft virtual directory object: Automation error The System cannot find the path specified -Incorrect
I am not able to send the the data to the server also. when I try to send the data it says..." an error occured while communicating with the web server"
Not sure though that this error is because of Osoft virtual Directory...
    Any one faced this problem?

    RaciMishra,
Please check out SAP Knowledge Base article 1532499.  Doing this fixed my problem with installing BPC 7.5 SP07 on my Win 2008 R2 .NET server and all my lights now show up green for the Diagnostic screen.
    Symptom
When running BPC server diagnostics, the following error is displayed on the IIS Configuration item:
"Cannot get OSoft virtual directory object: Automation error. The system cannot find the path specified. - Incorrect."
    Resolution
The resolution to this problem is to disable User Account Control on Windows Server.
    To turn off UAC
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click User Accounts.
In the User Accounts window, click User Accounts.
In the User Accounts tasks window, click Turn User Account Control on or off.
If UAC is currently configured in Admin Approval Mode, the User Account Control message appears. Click Continue.
Clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box, and then click OK.
Click Restart Now to apply the change right away, or click Restart Later and close the User Accounts tasks window.

  • Application Server Role, Web Server (IIS): configuration error

I am installing file en_sharepoint_server_2013_with_sp1_x64_dvd_3823428.iso on a Windows Server 2012 R2 that is a Virtual Machine in VMWare. After mounting the file I run prerequisiteinstaller.exe, which errors with:
Application Server Role, Web Server (IIS): configuration error
After some research I am pointed to KB2771431. I download Hotfix file Windows8-RT-KB2771431-x64.msu, which it says is for Windows Server 2012 but when attempting to install I get error:
The update is not applicable to your computer.
My question is where do I go from here?

Can you try to install the most recent .NET Framework updates?

  • IIS configuration question

I've inherited an Exchange 2010 setup that is not complete. Autodiscover for instance doesn't work, so mobile users have to manually configure settings. I'm trying to rectify that.
Looking at the IIS configuration I see that virtually everything is forwarded to https://mail.domain.here/owa (the domain is an actual domain, just obfuscating here) - is that the way it's supposed to be or has a previous admin been overly helpful in trying
to get web mail users redirected to the right page to do mail or something?

    Thanks!
I tried turning it off and that didn't really do much, but once I started looking your comment about connecting to localhost finally made me look at where the web sites are bound and the second separate site is answering only on the external IP of the machine.
That particular site only has a subset of the subdirectories visible in the default site. I presume this is some sort of security upgrade or some such.
I very recently redirected a lot of internal connections to https://mail.domain.com/owa, ews and so on as I'm trying to switch to using a certificate without .local internal addresses, so I think I've tracked down the reason why I'm having issues with calendars
and autoreply setting being impossible here as well. Once I redirected all those URI inside Exchange, the outlook clients started trying to go to this incomplete Exchange web (mail.domain.com)  instead of the complete one that is only accessible on the
    inside (exchangeserver.domain.local).
I didn't think I needed to go the split brain route and redirect mail.domain.com to an internal IP but clearly I do and I've implemented that now, as well as changed that hard redirect to a relative one. Remains to be seen if that clears up my issues, but
at least I think I'm getting closer.

  • Cannot install SharePoint 2013 with SP1 on server 2012 R2. IIS configuration error

    Hey Guys,
I'm experiencing a problem which seems to be common considering the number of posts I've found about it, but none of the provided solutions worked for me.
I'm simply trying to install SharePoint 2013 with SP1 on a Windows Server Standard 2012 R2.
I've downloaded from the MS Volume Licensing website the "SharePoint Server 2013 with SP1" ISO file :  SW_DVD5_SharePoint_Server_2013w_SP1_64Bit_English_MLF_X19-36118. So
this is the slipstreamed version which is supposed to bring compatibility with 2012 R2.
As I do not have direct access to the Internet I need to perform an offline installation. I also downloaded all prerequisities. When I run prerequisiteinstaller.exe with the necessary arguments, I get the following :
    (Full log file is below)
    I've tried the following :
    - Restarted the server multiple times
    - Manually removing/adding IIS role + restart
    - Running the prerequisiteinstaller.exe from the DVD or from an extracted version
    - Manually installing the prerequisities
    - Installed .Net 3.5 as recommended here (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0b597d35-b02d-4236-894d-38efc0c7c6f6/sharepoint-2013-with-sp1-install-on-windows-server-2012-r2?forum=sharepointgeneral)
None of the worked. So I'm stuck and I must completed the installation of this before the end of the week for an important project !
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you guys for the quick answer! Muche appreciated
I've tried all suggested solutions, but no luck :-(
    - tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2765260 > no help and by the way the hotfix provided is not applicable for 2012 R2.
also tried "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regii -enable -i" and got this :
Microsoft (R) ASP.NET RegIIS version 4.0.30319.33440Administration utility to install and uninstall ASP.NET on the local machine.Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation.  All rights reserved.Start installing ASP.NET (4.0.30319.33440).This option is not supported on this version of the operating system.  Administrators should instead install/uninstall ASP.NET 4.5 with IIS8 using the "Turn Windows Features On/Off" dialog,  the Server Manager management tool, or the dism.exe command line tool.  For more details please see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=216771.Finished installing ASP.NET (4.0.30319.33440).

For the automated install script (http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/DownloadInstall-SharePoint-e6df9eb8) Craig mentions that the script are not yet compatible
"SharePoint 2013 SP1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 support coming soon

  • DNS and IIs configuration

    Hello
I know that I am most probably in the worng forum but may be somebody still answers my question???
I developped an application w ColdFusion and I want to host it within a private domain (so the site can only be seen within that domain). Lets assume the domain is called "mydomain.local". There is a server responsible for the DNS, this one is called dnsserver01 (IP 192.168.10.1) and runs Windows Server 2008. Then I have a server called webserver01 (IP 192.168.10.11) , this one is running my ColdFusion application on Windows Server 2003. IIS is running on webserver01 too.
    My questions:
    - Can I set up something like "myapplication.mydomain.local" which points to my application which I built on webserver01?
    - If yes, do I have to set up a "virtual directory" or a "virtual host" on IIS?
    - If yes, what do I have to set up on the DNS on dnsserver01? Is it in "forward looking zones"? What record do I have to set up (A record etc)?
Finally I would like that any computer resp. user in the domain mydomain.local can open a browser and type "myapplication.mydomain.local" and my application should show up....
Thank you very much for information

I think you could do it in a much simpler way, unless I am missing something. In the DNS server, map 192.168.10.11 to myapplication.mydomain.local. As you had installed ColdFusion on 192.168.10.11(webserver01) and, presumably, configured ColdFusion for IIS using the Web Server Configuration Tool, you would have automatically created a virtual directory for the ColdFusion site.

  • WebSAPConsole & HTTP (IIS) Configuration

I am very confused about the final setup of WebSAPConsole.  I have it installed & deployed and I have created a profile in the SAP Console Administrator.  The final step in the manual is a step to configure IIS.  My questions are:
      1. I thought that SAP was not supporting isapi anymore.  What is the replacement
      2. Does IIS have to be configured on the server where WebSAPConsole is running or on a IIS server.

  • IIS configuration with Weblogic 10gR3

    Hi All,
We are using IIS 6.0 as the proxy server in our portal application. The portal server is Weblogic 10gR3. I have followed some documents to configure it. (http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs103
/plugins/isapi.html). But I am not able to configure that. Can any body help me in configuring IIS server as a proxy server.
    Thanks & Regrads
    Abani R. Behera

Configure IIS Plug-in with Weblogic Server
    1. Make a directory on the IIS box for the plug-in.
    For instance: c:\Inetpub\WLS_IIS_Plugin\
    2. Copy iisforward.dll and iisproxy.dll to this new directory.
    These files are located at:
    10.0: \wlserver_10.0\server\plugin\win\32
    10.3: \wlserver_10.3\server\plugin\win\32
    3. To install iisforward.dll as an ISAPI filter, do the following:
Go to Start->Administrative Tools->Internet Information Services
    (IIS) Manager
In the left pane, drill down to the active website
    (like "Default Web Site")
Right-click the active website and select Properties
Select the ISAPI Filters tab and press the Add button
    Filter name: WLS IIS Plugin
    Or whatever you want
    Executable: C:\Inetpub\WLS_IIS_Plugin\iisforward.dll
    Or whatever path you created
    Press OK twice
IIS6 does not allow the iisforward.dll ISAPI Extension to run by default.
    To enable:
In the left pane of the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager,
click on Web Service Extension (located under the computer name)
In the right pane, highlight All Unknown ISAPI Extensions and press
    the Allow button
    4. To map .wlforward to use iisproxy.dll, do the following:
    a. In the left pane, drill down to the active website (like
    "Default Web Site")
    b. Right-click the active website and select Properties
    c. Select Home Directory tab
    d. Click the Configuration... button.
    e. In the Application Mapping tab, click the Add... button.
    a. Executable: C:\Inetpub\WLS_IIS_Plugin\iisproxy.dll
    b. Extension: .wlforward
    f. Uncheck Verify that file exists
    g. IMPORTANT: Ensure .wlforward is not mapped to iisforward.dll.
While this seems intuitive, it is wrong. .wlforward maps to
    iisproxy.dll.
    h. Press OK three times
    i. Exit the IIS Manager MMC console.
    5. Create a text file named iisproxy.ini and place it in the plug-in
    directory (e.g. c:\Inetpub\WLS_IIS_Plugin\iisproxy.ini)
    iisproxy.ini
    WebLogicCluster=localhost:7001,localhost:7003
    WlForwardPath=/
    Debug=ALL
    DebugConfigInfo=ON
    WLLogFile=c:/temp/iisproxy.log
    6. Restart IIS using the following CLI statement: iisreset /restart
    7. Use a browser to access IIS. This will 'turn on' the IIS->WLS
    ISAPI filter.
    8. Relaunch the IIS Manager and check the ISAPI filter tab to ensure
the iisforward.dll is now 'turned on', as evidenced by a green arrow.

  • Problem setting up ColdFusion on Windows 7 and IIS

Using Windows 7 version 6.1 Build 7601 Service Pack 1 on a Dell N5110 Laptop running an Intel Core i5-2430M CPU @ 2.4 GHz and 6 GB RAM, 64-bit OS.
Under Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows Features On and Off > Internet Information Services I have turned on all the features and subfeatures EXCEPT for FTP Server.  Internet Information Services Hostable Web Core is also turned ON though it's unclear whether it's necessary or not.
Installed ColdFusion version 10 after enabling IIS as described above.
Used instructions at http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/266/troubleshooting-failed-requests-using-tracing-in-iis/ to set up and test tracing, working around all the ambiguities and errors there until tracing actually worked as described for a 404.2 error on a .asp file. THEN reset the trace to work on all 500 errors for ISAPI Extension and WWW Server.
Ran the Web Server Configuration Tool for ColdFusion as described at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusion/10.0/Installing/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cdec18a1 5-7ffb.html to configure IIS for ColdFusion in Windows. Then these parts of the configuration were possible to verify at C:\ColdFusion10\config\wsconfig :
    Verify your IIS configuration
Verify that the following folder was created: cf_root/config/wsconfig/number.
To set the <samp class="codeph">connectionpooltimeout</samp> and <samp class="codeph">reuseconnectioncount</samp> click on Advanced Setting tab. The option to enable buffering and verbose debugging is available on the same page.
    Configuring IIS:
    Creates a folder <samp class="codeph">1</samp> in <samp class="codeph">cfroot\config\wsconfig</samp>, that contains all connector-related files.
    Creates a virtual directory <samp class="codeph">Jakarta</samp> in <samp class="codeph">cfroot\config\wsconfig</samp> (in IIS).
    Adds an entry, <samp class="codeph">tomcat</samp>, under the<samp class="codeph"> ISAPI FILTERS</samp>. This points to <samp class="codeph">cfroot\config\wsconfig\1\isapi_redirect.dll</samp>.
Some of the parts of the verification process were skipped, for the reasons described :
Adds an entry, <samp class="codeph">tomcat</samp>, to  <samp class="codeph">cfroot\config\wsconfig\1\isapi_redirect.dll</samp> with permission <samp class="codeph">allowed</samp> under ISAPI and CGI Restrictions. It is applicable for global sites in IIS manager.
No kind of 'entry' is possible for the specified .dll at that location under its Properties, nor can permissions be allowed under Properties for anything remotely resembling 'ISAPI and CGI Restrictions'.  There is nothing resembling "Global Sites" in IIS manager either where this information might be found.
    Adds the following <samp class="codeph">isapi</samp> handlers: <samp class="codeph">cfcHandler</samp>, <samp class="codeph">cfmHandler</samp>, <samp class="codeph">cfmlHandler</samp>, <samp class="codeph">cfrHandler</samp>, and <samp class="codeph">cfswfHandler</samp>.
The logical place for these "handlers" would be in IIS but there is no description provided for where they might be found and searching around provides no clues so this is impossible to verify as well.
For debugging issues, set the log level to <samp class="codeph">debug</samp>, in the <samp class="codeph">isapi_redirect.properties</samp> file present in the <samp class="codeph">cfroot\config\wsconfig\1\ </samp>directory.
This was done and these are the contents of that file:
    extension_uri= /jakarta/isapi_redirect.dll
    log_file= C:\ColdFusion10\config\wsconfig\1\isapi_redirect.log
    log_level= debug
    worker_file= C:\ColdFusion10\config\wsconfig\1\workers.properties

  • SharePoint 2013 Configuration Wizard failure while joining a WFE to the existing server farm.

    Dears,
I've been troubleshooting an issue while trying to join a new WFE server to an existing SharePoint 2013 farm.
    Issue Description:
When we run the wizard it runs for almost 30 to 45 minutes on the step 3 itself and eventually fails at the end with an error message "Failed to connect to the configuration Database..... Value doesn't fall within the expected range"
First I thought this is a connectivity issue with the config DB and monitored the complete operation very closely after checking the permissions and SQL server connection and happened to see that the server was able to connect to the farm and all the web
applications and the related solutions were pushed to the server and apparently the failure of the Wizard at below point: Followed by the error, all web sites and solutions were retracted and a complete roll back happens.
Can someone pls help me here at the earliest as I'm stuck ???

encountered issues in the creation of app pool.. I had to tweak around some settings with the config file by considering the other WFE as a reference.. this actually fixed the issue..

  • Alternate access mapping and binding in IIS for NLB nodes(2)

    Hello All,
We have configured NLB for 2 nodes( 1 is App and WFE1 and 2 is WFE2).
here, we have given NLB host name to the users to browse. but, do we need to configure any thing in alternate access mapping and in IIS bindings, if yes, Please elaborate step by step please.
    Thanks in advance
NLB host name and IP: abc.ap.company.com /10.11.12.95
    Node1 server: abc.appri.company.com / 10.11.12.93
    Node2 server: abc.appsec.company.com / 10.11.12.94
    how to do this.
    NARLA

Assuming you configured the web application to use the URL http://abc.ap.company.com there is no additional IIS configuration needed on the servers.
If you're interested in accessing a specific server you can create a hostfile entry on your client machine that abc.ap.company.com to one of the two servers.

In addition, I agree with SenneVL. This issue seems to be more related to IIS configuration. As SenneVL suggested,
you would post your question in IIS Forum. I believe we will get a better assistance there.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
