IKM issue

Hi all,
I am trying to import Essbase Sample.Basic db into Oracle db. Which IKM available should be used for the target/staging area?
Any reply would be considered helpful...
Thanks,
Susane

Just to add the staging area doesn't have to be the memory engine, it could be Oracle and probably would be more efficient if your target is Oracle.
If you are loading large number of records or complex integrations I would stear away from using the memory engine

    Hi,
I believe that the problem you are having is that you have a delimited file, of which you want to pick columns from position 2,3,5. In this case, ODI will pick the first 3 columns of a delimited file regardless of position.
For example, if you a tab delimited file with c1,c2,c3,c4,c5 columns, and you want only columns c2,c3,c5 - when mapping these in an ODI interface, and executing, you will actually pick up the data from c1,c2,c3 as these are the first three columns in the file (reading from left to right). You can ignore "columns" on the right hand side of a file, but not the left. E.g delimited file with c1,c2,c3,c4,c5. Only pick columns c1,c2 will give you data for the first 2 columns
Create a temporary table to load all the data from the file, and use you temp table to extract the data you require. Or you could get the file created with the first three columns as the columns you require.

  • ODI IKM SQL to Planning Issue

Can anyone help me out with this one? I'm trying to run an IKM to Planning to update a Planning dimension metadata outline and am using the IKM SQL to Planning. After executing it, the Operator shows the status completed but an exception occured from one of the steps, "Report Statistics". I'm using the Sunopsis_Memory_Engine as my staging area and my flow chart start with a flat file (LKM File to SQL), staging area Sunopsis, and target is Planning (IKM SQL to Planning). In my mapping diagram, I have all columns to execute on the staging area, except for the parent and child columns which I have executing on the source. Below is the execution message for the "Report Statistics" step that seems to fail. Anyone know how to address this?

    Hi,
Have you also enabled the error logs in the IKM as this log should also explain why they are being rejected.
In the operator a failure is a red icon, the icons you are pointing out are yellow, they may be an error but they are not serious, for instance it tries to drop a table if it doesn't exist it warns and carries on, if the table existed it would drop it, these are not serious failures, ones to be concerned about are red.

  • Issue with DataSets in ODI

    Hi,
I have two datasets (each contain three tables joined together, different filter criteria in each dataset) in my ODI interface on which I perform the MINUS SET commad. The results from this are to be written to a file. When I run the pure SQL in a SQL editor I get the result set back I am expecting. However, when I run my ODI interface I get no results. When I look at the generated SQL all I have is a SQL statement based on a single table from my dataset with no reference to the joined tables and no reference to the 2nd dataset or MINUS command. ODI version is 11.1.1.6. Is there an issue with the dataset feature?

  • Custom IKM Knowledge Modules are not working with Group By Clause

    Hi All,
I am facing an issue with custom IKM knowledge modules. Those are IKM Sql Incremental Update and IKM Sql Control Append.
    My Scenario is
    1. Created an interface with table on source and temporary datastore with some columns in target.
    2. In the Interface on the target i defined one column as UD1 and other column as UD2  for which group by to be implemented .
    3. Customized  IKM Sql Incremental Update  with " Group by " by making  modification in my IKM Sql Incremental Update
detail step "Insert flow into I$ table"  i.e., i replaced like this whereever i find this <%=odiRef.getGrpBy()%> API
    Group By
    <%=snpRef.getColList("","[EXPRESSION]","","","UD1")%>,
    <%=snpRef.getColList("","[EXPRESSION]","","","UD2")%>
    Up to UD5.
. Here in the place of [EXPRESSION] i passed column names for UD1 similarly other column name for [EXPRESSION] of UD2.
4.Made all the proper mappings and also selected the KM's needed for that interface like CKM Sql ,IKM Sql Incremental Update.
    5. Executed the Interface with global context.
Error i am getting in this case is :
Caused By: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00979: not a GROUP BY expression

Here the columns in the select clause are there in Group By also.
I did the same scenario using IKM Sql to file append .In that case i am able to do it. But not with the above mentioned KM's. Please let me know if any one know it or tried with this, as it is
    high priority for me.
    Please help me out.
    Thanks,
    keerthi

    Hi Keerthi,
If your are transfering data from Oracle to Oracle (I means source is oracle Db and target is also oracle DB) then use below KM's and group by will come automatically based on the key values you selected on interface target datastore
    1) CKM Oracle
    2) LKM Oracle to Oracle (DBLINK)
    3) IKM Oracle Incremental Update (MERGE)
Hope this will helps to resolve your issue

    Hi ,
I am new to ODI ..  and i am using ODI 11g .
the problem which i am facing is below stated :
I have an existing interface with both source and target tables its working fine . when there is change in the column in the source and the target table i do the reversed enginnner to get the new colums in the source nad the target schema .
I tried to retain the existing mapping  of source and traget by deleting the source schema and replacing it with the newly updated schema  in the source colum in the interface .
and  drag and drop the the newly updated schema In the target colum in this way i was able to retain the existing mapping ,and did the mapping for the new columns in both .
The problem is that it is running succesful and data for the earlier existing mapping are moving from source to target but not for the newly mapped column .
please help me out in sorting out this issue
the knowlede modules that i am using it are as follows

    Hi all,
We have Just upgraded ODI 10.1.3.6 to ODI 11.1.1.5 both are using Oracle as the Repository.
After the Upgrade we do have issue with interface which extracts data from the Essbase 11.1.2.1 to Oracle DB
Essbase: LKM Herion Essbase DATA to SQL
    Staging: LKM SQL to Oracle
    Target: IKM Oracle Incremental Update
When we select the "Staging is diff from Target" the Flow Disappears, with a critical Error message
"Staging Area is loaded by an LKM but target datastore does not reference any columns from a source datastore. Either uncheck the box "Staging area different from target" or add source column references in the target."
This is reported as a bug by the development.
When this option is Unchecked the Flow appears again.
But even with the "Staging is diff from Target" is unchecked when i execute the interface i get the following error message,

To be honest I think you are best logging it with Oracle because it sounds like you are doing everything correctly so it could be a bug.
Have you tested this on any previous versions of ODI or is it a new installation?
If it does get logged with Oracle please keep me informed of the outcome as I would be interested to hear.
    Cheers

    Hi,
Is this issue resolved? If so, can you provide the fix?
I am getting the same error.
    Thanks,

  • Time stamp issue in odi

    Hi,
In my interface I am using txt.file as source and target is oracle. Here I am facing problem with time stamp and below are the details provided.
Details: We are getting a flat file from the source in which we are getting one of the columns as time stamp (2013032710101010) and we need to populate it in a stage table column OPTOUT_DATE which is of type DATE.
We are facing issue in loading this TIMESTAMP data into DATE data type.
    Km for this is,
    Lkm file to sql,
    Ikm sql incremental update,
    ckm sql.
Can you please suggest us how to handle this.
    Thx,
    Sahadeva,
    9986928587.

    Ok thank you..
I have one more doubt this moment.
What it is means, In the Interface level of ODI we have staging are different from target. Here we have SUNOPSIS_MEMORY_ENGINE. Can you please tell what is the use of this in ODI.
    1.     How this works internally?
    2.     Can we use it as our target/Source as well?
    4.     Is it possible to retain data in the memory for later use?
So if you explain me more brief about these three questions that would be very much better and also helpful for me. Because I am going to develop
one POC doc(Proof Of Concept) on this.
    Thx,
    Sahadeva.

  • Issue while using SUNOPSIS MEMORY ENGINE (High Priority)

    Hi Gurus,
While using SUNOPSIS MEMORY ENGINE to generate a .csv file using the database table as a source it is throwing an error in the operator like.
ODI-1228: Task SrcSet0 (Loading) fails on the target SUNOPSIS ENGINE connection SUNOPSIS MEMORY ENGINE.
    Caused By: java.sql.SQLException: unknown token
(LKM used : LKM Sql to Sql.
IKM used : IKM Sql to File Append.)
can you please help me regarding this ASAP as it has became the show stopper for me to proceed further.
Any Help will be greatly Appreciable.
    Many Thanks,
    Pavan

    Hi All,
    The Issue got resolved successfully.
    The solution is
we need to change the E$_,I$_,J$_,...... to E_,I_,J_,.... ((i.e; removing the '$' Symbol)) in the PHYSICAL SCHEMA of SUNOPSIS MEMORY ENGINE as per the information given below.
When running interfaces and using a XML or Complex File schema as the staging area, the "Unknown Token" error appears. This error is caused by the updated HSQL version (2.0). This new version of HSQL requires that table names containing a dollar sign ($) are surrounded by quotes. Temporary tables (Loading, Integration, and so forth) that are created by the Knowledge Modules do not meet this requirement on Complex Files and HSQL technologies.
As a workaround, edit the Physical Schema definitions to remove the dollar sign ($) from all the Work Tables Prefixes. Existing scenarios must be regenerated with these new settings.
    It worked fine for me.
    Thanks ,

  • Unable to select IKM in project.

    Hi ,
This is more of a newbie question. I was trying to go through Oracle's Tutorial Exporting RDMS table to Flat file. For this I created a project and imported a IKM SQL to File Append successfully. I created the Source and Target datasources as well.
I was attempting to create a new interface but when I tried to do the mapping I run into an issue when I click on the Flow Tab according to the tutorial I am suppose to select the target and in the properties for IKM I am suppose to select for the IKM IKM SQL to File Append but I see no option to select that. The only option I saw is undefined. I thought once I see the IKM in the project I should be able to see it in the list.
Maybe I am missing something small....please help!......
    Thanks

    Step 1. Interface Defination
Step 2. Being the target as File check Mark Stagging area from target and select the appropriate Schema.
Step 3. Drag in your Source (Table ) and Drag in your Target ( File ) and map the Columns
now look you will be able to see the IKM option .
Note : Stagging Area different from Target is to be used to tell ODI not to use target Work schema for $ tables . This option is to be used when the Target is non Database technology .
    Hope this solve your issue.

  • ODI 11g SCD@ IKM is not updating End Time and Flag

I am implementing this IKM from Oracle ODI 11g and after executing it inserts a new row/dimension [which is correct] but sets the flag indicator for old and new ros both to '1' and Ending Timestamp value is not set for old row [I was expecting the ending timestamp will be updated ot todays timestamp but not happening]. I follwed all the steps mentioend in SCD2 [in this forum] and made the column behaviour to appropirate SCD Behavior. I do not have any "Update Row on change" but all the details are "Add row on change" apart from Starting Timestamp, ending timestamp and Current Indicator flag.
Can any one help me with this issue? Please let me know what details you need to debug or make analyze it.
Thank you and appreciate in advance for your help

I guess that is correct. 'historize old rows' was missing in my SCD2 [I have copied it from Oracle SCD2 and might have removed that command [??] But after your response, I checked and used the original SCD2 and it's working after fixing few issues with End Date in my data. Thanks .
    'Mav (watch TopGun?)' ofcourse Yeah!!
