Illegal address in string

Hi Team,
Am trying to send a email using localSMTP pro. I have verified the following link
http://www.tutorialspoint.com/java/java_sending_email.htm
This is my code
    public void sendmail() throws MessagingException {
        String to = new String();
        to = to;
        String from = new String();
        from = from;
        String host = "localhost";
        Properties prop = System.getProperties();
        prop.setProperty("mail.smtp.host", host);
        Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(prop);
        try{
            MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(session);
            message.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from));   // Illegal Address String
            message.setRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, new InternetAddress(to));
            message.setSubject(subj);
            message.setText(txt);
            Transport.send(message);
        catch(MessagingException mex){
            mex.printStackTrace();
    }This is the error message which i got
javax.mail.internet.AddressException: Illegal address in string ``''
     at javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress.<init>(InternetAddress.java:108)
     at view.Mail.sendmail(Mail.java:67)
     at view.Mail.Send(Mail.java:79)
     at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)
Can any one pls help me?
Regards,
Prasad K T.

I really have no idea what you're trying to accomplish with this code:
String to = new String();
to = to;
String from = new String();
from = from;
It doesn't appear that you've set the From address at all.
What version of JavaMail are you using?
You might want to look at the JavaMail FAQ:

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply, but your assumption is incorrect that I did not read the error message in the documentation. I read it many times, but could not correlate it with any wrongdoing.
    solaris64:102b$ oerr TNS 12533

    // Protocols that resolve names at the transport layer (such as DECnet object

    The above says that, illegal set of protocol adapters was specified...., I am using 'Local Naming (tnsnames.ora)' connection method and using TCP/IP protocol.

  • Repetitive error in SMTP log: illegal address syntax

    Hello I keep getting this error message in the SMTP log:

    unknown[10.0.0.12]
    my mail server has this IP listed above, so it obviusoly looks like some kind of internet connection, but I don't know why it keeps happining, and I have 10.0.0.12 listed in the local hosts alias.
    Thanks

    I thought my problem was solved once I added 10.0.0/24 to my relay and 10.0.0.12 to local hosts in the mail setup but I am getting the error again.
    You say is it in my /etc/main.cf?
    Should I have that config file, because I do not, at least not in that path.
    suggestions please
    Thanks!

    You have to enter the settings for your external system into the tnsnames.ora on your BI system.
    On the external system, you should check if tcp.invited_nodes is set. If so, add your BI system to it and reinitialize your listener.

    You need to add a credit card. Payments from bank accounts are not a few minutes as paypal use electronic and not wire transfers and that takes days. As said some companies prefer immediate payment so paypal has to send that via a credit card funded payment.     **************************************** I give up my time to help you so a thank you or kudos would be cool.
    Marking one of my replies as a solution would be appreciated if I sorted your problem.

  • Discover IP Address In String

    I am faced with an issue of finding the IP address in a string containing other string like items... such as letters and numbers and... (ok, I'm just messing around).  Anyways, the string could look like the following  "10.0.0.1 stuff, stuff, stuff" or "stuff, stuff, stuff, 10.0.0.1 stuff, stuff."  The bright side is that periods/dot is only used for IP addresses while comma is used for everything else.  So I was thinking... well ok, I could just use a while loop and match pattern to solve this one. But then I thought.... "that's so primitive.  Surely, there's a better way to do this."   Sooooooo, is there a better way to do this?  I'm using LabVIEW 2011 just an fyi.

    Use "Match Regular Expression" with one of the expressions listed here: https://www.safaribooksonline.com/library/view/regular-expressions-cookbook/9780596802837/ch07s16.html
    EDIT: more specifically, you want to use one of the expressions for matching an IP address from within a larger body of text, of course.

  • 2 different addresses in from

    Hi all,
    In my organization it is mandatory to send a copy of any
    mail each employee recieves- in his official capacity- to
    our boss.
    So I decided that instead of making other people type in 2
    different addresses, one my address and another my boss's
    address, why not send an email in which the from field
    contains both addresses (my address and my boss's address)
    so that the other person has just to click on the Reply
    button, and 2 different addresses appear in the "To" field
    seperated by a comma in his Compose page. Then he types in
    the Subject and the message and clicks the Send button. The
    message is delivered to two different persons.
    So I developed a servlet (importing javax.mail.* and other
    required packages) which accepts the to mail id, the
    subject and the message from the user (of course I made a
    HTML page for this purpose), set the from in MimeMessage.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from)) as:
    "[email protected],[email protected]" and used Transport.send
    But it seems JavaMail is smarter, it is giving me an
    "AddressException: Illegal address in string
    [email protected],[email protected]" message. I tried to
    put a semicolon in place of a comma in between the 2
    addresses in the from field, but this time
    "AddressException: Illegal semicolon in string
    [email protected],[email protected]" is displayed.
    Any workarounds for this. We are using an SMTP server for
    our JavaMail applications.

    RFC822, which specifies the format of Internet mail, requires the From address to be a single address. You can read about it here:
    http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc822.html
    Anyway, your solution seems backwards to me. You can't control everybody who sends e-mail to you. Wouldn't it be better to configure your e-mail server to automatically forward a copy of any e-mail you get to your boss? Of course, then your boss would get copies of all your non-official-capacity e-mails too...

    But when i try to set single address it works. So sounds like Oracle is not parsing before calling java api to set SetReplyTo([] Address) method.
    Could some one help on this?
