Illustrator CS4 will not install

Win 7 64 bit, Photoshop CS4 installed.  Try to install Illustrator CS4 and runs into a problem updating Photoshop and stops the install.

Not exacly sure what is said. Just that is was not able to update Photosope and needed to stop the install.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I have tried to update Photoshop CS4 and have had difficulty as it would never complete, just get 80% done and stop.  Caused by:
Error: The specified module could not be found. C:\Program files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\VersionCue.DLL
Workaround:
Actually, I copied all of the files, not including the Dictionaries directory,
VersionCue.dll
VersionCueSDK.dll
VersionCueUI.dll
ExtendScript.dll
that were not in the 4.0.1 directory.
Now, I ended up with these 5 files,
VersionCue.dll
VersionCueSDK.dll
VersionCueUI.dll
ExtendScript.dll
ScCore.dll
and 1 directory, Dictionaries.

  • Adobe CS4 will not install on new macbook pro [was: pro]

Adobe CS4 will not install on new macbook pro. It is coming from my other macbook.

Install normally means running setup from the orginal discs or the downloadable trial version. If you are copying from a backup or another computer, that won't work.
Best advice is to download the CS4 trial, and have your serial number ready in order to convert the trial into a licensed version.
Get the trial here. Follow the instructions carefully or the download link won't work.

  • Illustrator cs4 will not open

I have tried everything Illustrator CS4 will not open

That is evil, is it not? Sorry, but you need to be more specific - operating system, system specs, what you have tried so far, error messages that may come up.

  • Illustrator CS4 will not open in XP Professional

    Hello,
Although I am running Windows XP Professional AI CS4 will not open on my computer.
Photoshop and InDesign work perfectly but Illustrator seems unable to recognize the XP operating system and gives an error message accordingly.
    Please see the attachment.
If anyone has any ideas about how to cure this please tell me.
    Thanks for your consideration,
    cobaltgreen

If I recall correctly, the issue is introduced by an incorrect install/ update of .NET runtimes (one of the newer versions, 3.5 I think). I've seen the message myself on one of my systems, but I'm not really sure how I fixed it. Reason however dictates, that manually initiating a Windows Update or downloading .NET installers from Microsoft's pages, would be one thing to try. If the solution floats to the top from the murky depths of my brain, I'll report back.

  • Illustrator CS2 will not install

    Hello-
I just got a  new computer and went to install my copy of CS2.  However, everything installs EXCEPT Illustrator.  All of the other components work, but Illustrator does not install.  When I go to reinstall, the installer recognizes that Illustrator is not installed and proposes installation of specific components (i.e. Ilustrator).  I go through everything and once again, no Illustrator.
    Anybody have any ideas?
It's the mac version and the new comp. is a MacBook Pro (newest version).

It will. You can't install CS2 after installing CS3 or 4. Doesn't work. Uninstall the CS4 and dump all files, esp shared libs. You may have to use the CS4 Clean Script to remove all the associated parts.

  • Illustrator CS4 will not launch under Snow Leopard

    Hi there,
I've just done a clean install of Snow Leopard on my Mac. Here's what I did.
    1) Installed Snow Leopard 10.6
    2) Installed all OS X updates (including 10.6.1)
    3) Installed Quark Xpress 8.12
    4) Installed Adobe CS4 Design Standard
    5) Installed all Adobe updates (no updates related to Illustrator)
    6) Installed Extensis Suitcase Fusion 2 (v13.2.1)
    Photoshop launches fine.
When I launch Illustrator it crashes just after the splash screen appears.
    Any ideas please?
Can't find anything on web really - if can't get an answer soon then I'll have to go back to Leopard .
    Thanks,
    Mike.

I would suspect Suitcase and perhaps a corrupt font might be causing this issue and the data base is now corrupt.
However before really pointing the finger at any software try this remove all unessential fonts then
    do this
    first quite Illustrator and then;
I would go to Users/username/Library/preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder and trash that settings folder.
then see if Illustrator is running fine. If not try a new user account if it is running fine under a new user then I would think it is font data base.

Any insight would be great. I have tried a full uninstall & reinstall, the problem is still there. I would really like to be able to run my software.

Do you receive any specific error messages when you try to install?  You can find information on how to locate and interpret your installation log files at Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-installation-install-logs-cs3.html.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 will not install

I have a windows 7 PC. I have used Dreamweaver CS4 in the past on this computer.
However after I did a recent return to factory settings I have problems when trying to reinstall the program from the disc.
On the first attempt it seemed to install but I got a message saying the installation was incomplete but that the program would function.
When I tried to use the program I got a message that there were no "Resources"
So I tried to reinstall but this time it would not install at all.
Is there some update I can download that would help?
    Please advise

I was not sure how to follow some of the instructions for the Cleaner Tool so I was looking around for more explanation and meanwhile
I found find a page on the Adobe site for downloads of "older" products.
I was able to download and successfully install Dreamweaver CS4 from here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs4-product-downloads.html
Thanks for your advice and for taking the time to respond.

  • My cs4 will not install any updates

My photoshop CS4 seems to be fully loaded but runs slow. It was an upgrade from my prior CS2. The updates will download and start to upload but all of them end up being indicated by the installer as failed. So I am still not updated to 11.0.1.
I have no 3rd party plug ins set up in CS4, as I removed them in hopes that it would resolve this problem. But it did not. My Graphic card is on the acceptable list and has the current driver updates. I am running a Dell Xps with 3.20ghz 3.20 hardrive with lots of room as I use a 1tet external drive for my photos. I have 3gb of Ram. Is there some other way to load these needed updates.  As there seems to be about 4 bundles for them - Camera Raw - All products - the 11.0.1 and something else. Hope you can help or is this something I should be phoning in on. Thanks

I had a similar problem when running Vista, the installer would indicate failure but the install had actually happened.
Check the Photoshop version in the Help->About Photoshop (11.0.1)menu item.
You can also check out Bridge (3.0.0464) the same way and Camera Raw (5.5) (the version number is in the title bar when it's not in full screen mode).

  • I've upgraded my Mac OS to Yosemite and now Illustrator CS4 will not open.

I'm guessing I am too far behind to upgrade to the latest version of Illustrator and I also am not really clear on using Illustrator in the cloud but I need to work on my existing CS4 files so not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated!

    j,
You may prevent/deal with the error message as long as Illy is open in the following way:
    1) Start up Photoshop first, then Illy;
    2) When the error occurs, click Don't show again, and click OK;
You may close down Photoshop after that.
If you get the error message without having Photoshop open, close down Illy and start with 1).
By the way, I believe the right order/way is to update the OS, then reinstall the applications. Was that how you did it?
Also you may need to update drivers (Wacom and others).
If you run into the Java issue, you should be able to get round the issue altogether without the legacy version (and its security implications), by following this:
    http://oliverdowling.com.au/2014/03/28/java-se-8-on-mac-os-x/
It is even more thoroughly described in this thread, see post #3 on by gator soup:

I hope this covers all eventualitites.

  • Updates for CS4 will not install...

I am running CS4 on Windows 7 (64 bit).  I cannot get any updates to install.  The installation bar starts cross the window then returns to the beginning and does it again....a never ending loop.  I once heard that when I installed PS I should do it under adminiatrator permissions.  If this true....what are they talking about ?  Any help is appreciated....

First, WHICH version of Vista 32-bit? It must be at least Home Premium, but if things started to install the first time that probably isn't the issue.
Second, if the installer is reporting you don't have SP1 it's worth checking. Did you specifically download and install SP1? I don't know, because I don't run Vista, if SP1 would be an automatic update, or if only the security patches included in it would be automatic.
In XP you can right-click on My Computer and select properties. On the general tab it will tell you what service packs are installed. There has to be an equivalent in Vista, so you should check and be sure SP1 is listed.

  • Please help cs4 will not install

I just got a new photoshop cs4 extended. pn#65015816 from ebay. I can't get it to load, a auto something will pop up fast and then go away and the disk stops turning.
I called suport and they want a id# I don't know what they are talking about and when they found out I got it on ebay they won't even talk to me.

if it came in it's own self contained cs4 box there should be a serial number on the back side towards the bottom of the dvd case i believe this is what they were asking for.
at what point in the install does it stop loading?
does it try to install, do you get a screen with install instructions?
    what happens step by step?

  • Photoshop cs4 will not install

i have recently downloaded the trail version of cs4 to see if i like it but when i try to install it goes to the checking system profile install thing but stops once it gets about 3/4 of the way done with it. also when it stops i get an install message about command line parameters about different modes. please can anyone help!!

    Vista or XP?
check services and turn windows installer to auto
    Turn off anti-virus
    Turn off windows defender
Turn off any running programs you don't need in msconfig.
Put the folder on windows desktop and run setup program as administrator.
Make sure you install at the default location as the software seems to be happy there.
Depending on how far you got you may have to run the CS4 cleaner and windows uninstaller. There is a section in the help area on what to download and how to do it.
There is a "how to set up" in the help area too.
