Im What Control File is the Max Roles specified?

I am trying to load a database using Oracle Data Manager. The load crashes however because the maximum number of roles is exceeded at some point. I believe that I once heard from somebody that the max number of roles can be specified in some startup or control file located under $ORACLE_HOME /database. Can somebody please tell me which of the files it is and what parameter must be edited?

SQL> show parameter max_enabled_roles
check out the value
then cd $oracle_base/admin/sid/pfile/initSId.ora
set the values in UNIX envronment

  • Is it possible to create a control file without the datafiles

    Hi All,
Is it possible to create a control file without the datafiles?
on any OS or DB version
    regards,
    sachin

    if I understand properly:
    - you have a script to recreate the controlfile
    - you have all of your database files backed up except your controlfiles
This should work as this is how we sometimes refresh dev databases:
    1) restore the copies of the database files
    2) recreate the controlfile
    3) recover the database files to the desired point in time (if hot backup or archivelogs are available, otherwise, it would be as of the time of the backup)
    4) add temp files to temporary tablespace(s)
The simpler solution would be to backup your controlfile at the same time as your datafiles (RMAN or o/s copy).
I hope I understood your question properly.

  • After load .dbc file to the MAX, How to get activate the CAN signals?

Actually, i am new to labview and have some basic concepts. I am working on the CAN signals. I want to get activate the necessary signals alone. I know how to load the .dbc file to MAX. But after loading the .DBC file to MAX, i dont know how to activate the wanted CAN signals alone. For example, if i need to activate and control the speed CAN signal alone. i am not able to activate it.
Can anyone explain how this can be done.

    hi,
try to download the file from the applicarion server using the dataset operations. and store in the internal table
    thanks

  • Remove the current control file when the database is running on linux or un

    Question From Oracler:
    http://www.oracledatabase12g.com/archives/unix-linux%e4%b8%8b%e5%88%a0%e9%99%a4oracle%e6%8e%a7%e5%88%b6%e6%96%87%e4%bb%b6controlfile%e4%b8%ba%e4%bb%80%e4%b9%88%e5%ae%9e%e4%be%8binstance%e6%b2%a1%e6%9c%89%e7%ab%8b%e5%8d%b3%e5%a5%94%e6%ba%83.html

  • What Vid File Plays the best?

    Hello all,
I am totally new to like everything, adobe, webpage design, flash, ect... I have to build a really amazing site. I hope you all don't mind an amatuer like me here posting. I learn quickly. I have years in GD and Video production experiences so hopefully that will help somewhere. I bought a CSM Flash Moto Template to make things easier for my.. doing good....
My question now is this: I want to have my page start by playing a few videos right away. Right now I am messing around with this... www.ifanyoneisthirsty.com
I got the Videos there but they are playing really skippy... I am using Sony Vegas Pro to make the videos and Adobe Media encoder to render them out to .flv. on the right side there are several options of encoding methods... What would be my best bet for this site? I really, really want them to play smoothly.
    Thanks a million.
    peace

One might encounter dropped frames because their computer video capabilities are weak. The videos seem to play okay on my computer but not everyone has the same type of computer. This would probably be choppy on a netbook.

  • What is the difference  between  data file  & control file

what is the difference  between  data file  & control file

    Dear Deba s
    Control file
Every Oracle Database has a control file, which is a small binary file that records the physical structure of the database. The control file includes:
    The database name
Names and locations of associated datafiles and redo log files
The timestamp of the database creation
    The current log sequence number
    Checkpoint information

    Data File
You manage Data File in your Oracle database as part of Space Management. You can extend, create, drop, and alter tablespaces.
You especially need to avoid tablespace overflow, which is when a tablespace runs out of freespace in the allocated file or files. This happens when an object requires a new extent but there is either no freespace or insufficient freespace in the tablespace

  • What is Control file ?

    Hi Gurus,
Please explain me that what is Control file and what was the purpose of it in SAP Oracle DataBase.
    Thanks.

    Hi Kalyan
    <b>What Is a Control File?</b>
Every Oracle Database has a control file, which is a small binary file that records the physical structure of the database. The control file includes:
    The database name
Names and locations of associated datafiles and redo log files
The timestamp of the database creation
    The current log sequence number
    Checkpoint information
The control file must be available for writing by the Oracle Database server whenever the database is open. Without the control file, the database cannot be mounted and recovery is difficult.
The control file of an Oracle Database is created at the same time as the database. By default, at least one copy of the control file is created during database creation. On some operating systems the default is to create multiple copies. You should create two or more copies of the control file during database creation. You can also create control files later, if you lose control files or want to change particular settings in the control files.
    <b>Guidelines for Control Files</b>
This describes guidelines you can use to manage the control files for a database, and contains the following topics:
Provide Filenames for the Control Files
Multiplex Control Files on Different Disks
    Back Up Control Files
Manage the Size of Control Files
Role of Control File will remain the same even when you use Oracle with SAP. Just there will be some more entries in the file.
Refer the link below as well:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14231/control.htm#i1006143
Hope this should clear you doubt.

  • How to make the control file consistent when I re-mulitplexing them

    Oracle 10g R2 on the AIX 5.3L
My current control files (three) from the default set-up are all located in the same directory (/dbbaan/oradata/<SID>/). If I want to change some of the multiplexing of the control file to different directory to avoid the media failure,
    1. I copy one or two control files to different directory.
    2. create a new init_sid.ora from spfile
    2. edit the init_sid.ora file and change the locations of the control file
    3. shutdown/restart the DB using the init_sid.ora.
    4. create the spfile from the pfile
5 shutdown/restart the DB with new spfile ( "SQL> startup")
My question is: since there is always time lag between copying and recreating the new init_sid.ora, while the control file(s) are constantly updating, how can Db guarrente the consistency of the DB when I restart the DB (the control file specified in the init_sid.ora may be some time old) ? or does it matter?
I did above and my DB restart without problem.

Another problem concerns me. What happen if one of
multiplexed control file location, which I use a NFS
of another server, goes down and is not available
during the operation ( After I restart up the DB)? I
am sure I will see the error of that control file in
the alert log.If one of the control files not accessible during operation, Oracle will crash. So you better make sure all of your control file location are reliable and accessible.

  • Identify L1 backup pieces and restore the latest control file

    DB version:11.2
    Platform : Solaris 11
We dropped a Development DB last month. But we kept the Level0 and Level1 rman backups plus the archive logs generated after the last L1 .
Our L0 and L1's were scheduled with a 4 day gap.
Now the dev team wants this DB to be restored in a different machine. We hadn't stored rman metadata in a catalog schema. All we have is the below backup pieces.
    stcdev_p4lor85q_1_1.bkp
    stcdev_yls3gkjl_3_7.bkp
    stcdev_mhfr8293_5_4.bkp
    stcdev_ipxsr8293_5_4.bkp
.I don't know which of the backup pieces are from L1 and which ones are from L0. If I manage to restore the latest control file from the latest L1 backup , then things will be easy. What if I mistakenly restore the old control file from L0 which doesn't have any info on any new datafiles/tempfiles I've added after that L0.
What would you guys do for situation like this?

After you restore the controlfile, simply ALTER DATABASE MOUNT and then issue a LIST BACKUP. That listing will show you what the controlfile is aware of --- if it shows both L0 and L1 backups, you can use it. If it shows only the L0 backup, try restoring the "other" controlfile.
If you can see the timestamps of the backuppieces, that would help you identify which is the "later" backup.

  • Control file : The great mistery

    Hello friends
I want to know everything about Control file header. Please provide me some links or a complete detail about Control file as message.
    Thanks and Regards
    Sunil Kumar

    Sunil,
I would second Mark's suggestion that you can find the info about the control file and its contents using the mentioned views. But if you are REALLY looking for all the details underneath, you can dump the control file, burn the midnight oil reading the trace of it. That would give you more than what you probably need.
    You can use the command
    >
    alter session set events 'immediate trace name controlf level 1';
Level 1 will give the info about the header only. You will find the trace file created by it in the User_dump_dest of your database.

  • Advice on having a control file (online) on the same disk as backups

The following database files layout provides a no data loss configuration if the DiskArray #1, which stores the database, fails.
I have every think I need in the flash recovery area (DiskArray #2): backups, archived logs and online redo.
    DiskArray #1:
    - datafiles
    - control file (mirror copy 1)
    - Online redo log (mirror copy 1)
    DiskArray #2: (flash recovery area)
    - control file (mirror copy 2)
    - Online redo log (mirror copy 2)
    - archived logs
    - backups
But some one raise the following scenario:
What happen if the diskArray #2, which has one control file copy, fails?
The instance should abort. Can it corrupt the current online redo, controlfile or a datafile?
If it does I would be in a dead end; of course I have regular offsite backups, but I may lose up to two weeks.
Lossing the database because the backup array fails is not acceptable.
Should I avoid any control file in the backup array?
Oracle recommend having control file copies in separate disk location and one of it in the flash recovery area.
    Anyone have suggestions.
    I am a bit scared

Can it corrupt the current online redo, controlfile or a datafile?Could that someone tell you why he thinks so ? I have seen loss of controlfile and loss of mirrored (duplexed) redo logs but that doesn't corrupt the good controlfile and redo logs and datafiles. unless someone or some process copies the corrupted files over to the good array !
You'd have to restart the instance with that controlfile excluded from the parameter file.
You'd lose your archivelogs and backups. If you have no tape backups you'd lose the ability to restore as well (being another "someone", I will ask "What happen if the diskArray #1 fails at the same time or 5 minutes after or 6 hours after diskArray #2 ?").
