IMac disk driver error cannot repair or try again.

Question

I put my blank disk into my iMac and it gave me my usual set of options.  Moving into my Itunes account, I tried burning my playlist to the disk which it accepted.  After a while of whirring and working still in the initializing disk burning phase, it simply stopped running.  The disk burning initializing bar kept saying it was loading but nothing was goig on. After about five minutes it went to disc burn finishing loading bar without having loaded anything onto the disk.  The bar stayed there for a while until i got a message saying that "the disk could not be burned due to a medium write error" and the disk was ejected.  This is the third time this has happened.  Another time i had tried and an error message popped up telling me that "The disk could not write because of a disk driver error" it also told me it could not repair and I should not try again.  If anyone can help, I need to know how to fix this problem and what is wrong with it in the first place. HI,
Try this... boot from your install disc again.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
*If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.*
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
Perhaps another pass will do the job. Worth a try....
