Imac Mountain lion and Epson WP 4530 no utilities in download
Hi
I have just purchased the Epson WP 4530 multifunction printer.
I put in the disk but Apple warned not to run the disk if unsure of the version on the disk.
It then automatically took me to downloads at the Epson site and had detected Mountain Lion.
I downloaded the Drivers and Utilities Combo Pack 90.7MB Epson 14363.dmg
The utilities did not set up on my Imac
Under System Preferences the Printer Icon says Print & Scan
When I click onto it, there are only two tabs- Print and Scan- no Utilities, general or drivers
When I look at applications there is an Epson Software application and when I hover the mouse over it Download Navigator App and Epson Low Ink Reminder App comes up only.
I did the update from the Imac Software update for the printer and installed that but that did not change anything.
The scanner does not work wirelessly direct unless I use Image Capture, then it works
The printer works but i have to change the setting on the product printer to 6x4 rear tray if I want to print a photo.
I do not have any controls on the computer to do this.

Should I insert the Epson Setup disk and run the chance of an older version to obtain utilities or should i reinstall the Epson 14363.dmg again ( I have it saved in my downloads) or should I download it again and reinstall??
I feel that the utilities should give me more options on being able to control the printer from my Imac

Lightroom, OS Mountain Lion and Epson 7880 large print problems
I have used Lightroom to beautifully print many 20x16, 24x20 and 24x36 prints on my Epson 7880.
I have been trying unsucessfully to print a 24x74 panoramic print.
What happens is I geet a 24 x 20 inch blank piece of paper come out of the printer, a huge waste of expensive paper!!
I have set yp a custom paper size and the image looks like it fits the dimensions perfectly from the LR print module. All looks perfect.

Problems printing with Mountain Lion and Epson WorkForce 645.
Ever since I installed Mountain Lion I've been having problems printing on my Epson WorkForce 645. My initial problems started while trying to print from Google Chrome. The printer would always jam once I tried to print from the browser. I would have to open another browser (like Safari) and print from there. After driver updates from Apple, my printing problems got worse. I'm now not able to print from Microsoft Excel or QuickBooks anymore.

New iMac Mountain Lion and 3rd party apps
Todays date is March 31, 2013.
If I were to buy a brand new iMac with Mountain Lion will I have any 3rd party Apps problems?
Mountain Lion significantly damaged my current computer and they are blaming it all on 3rd party apps, so I wonder if it is gonna continue with a brand new iMac computer?keith181 wrote:

To petermac87 - I had MacKeeper on my computer twice and both times I had to get rid of it, not sure if this software was causing problems or not, but it sure as heck did not solve any of my problems.
Hi Keith, no I understand what you are doing. You need to be careful with some third party programs. MacKeeper, as you have found, is a very destructive program, despite all their claims. It has ground some users Macs almost to a halt.
Most software from the App store and reputable developers such as Adobe, Roxio, etc. are well up to date. In fact,most software in the AppStore is Mountain Lion compatable. You will not find the dodgy Apps such as MacKeeper there. You need to remember that less is better when it comes to Macs. Your iMac does not need a swag of maintenance toolsas some people decide thry need. Clean My Mac, Anti-Virus programs, Novelty Apps etc. are unnecessary and will cause you nothing but problems.
Apps such as iPhoto, iTunes etc.are made to intergrate with the Mac OS and are therefore safe and reliable, but once you add something such as MacKeeper or Intego Security, then it most likely will cause conflicts.
So basically what I am saying is do not fill your iMac with a whole pile of unnecessary crapapps which will slow it down, cause conflict, etc. There are plenty of reliable Apps out there to do what you want. If the reviews are a little confusing, then please don't hesitate to drop back here and ask.
And of course backup your system from Day 1 so you can always return it to a working state it you do by chance install something that causes problems and you can't uninstall.

Never mind... It was indeed something simple that I missed (my icloud account was attached to an apple ID I didn't even know existed -- created for me?? ... fixed it - settings, icloud, sign out, signed back in as my actual apple ID).

I purchased Apple TV yesterday strictly to mirror my desktop to my TV. Now I find out my desktop is not supported? How can I mirror my iMac to my Apple TV? I am running Mountain Lion and the iMac is a 2.8 GHz with intel core 2 duo from early 2008.

Not really sure where this question should go, since it crosses 3 topic areas. Neither my contacts nor my calendar will sync from iMac (mountain lion) to iPad 3 (ios6). I've tried a byzantine series of fixes - mostly involving backing up each, turning off cloud syncing, turning it back on, with lots of little steps in between (I'd be more detailed, but I gave up for several weeks and don't really remember them). Is this a real issue, or am I missing something simple? It's extremely frustrating to have what is advertised as basic functionality not work even a little bit. Especially when 3rd party apps sync just fine. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have an Epson Perfection V100 scanner and can no longer scan after upgrading to Mountain Lion and Creative Suite 5.5. Any suggestions?
Check the Epson web site for updates to drivers and Epson scan software.

I have upgraded to Mountain Lion and have found that some of my software no longer works, notably Image Browser and also the Epson Scanner Perfection 3490 software. Is there a 'patch' or way to allow me to use these programmes especially the scanner.
Apple discontinued support for PowerPC apps with Lion, I think, so you're out of luck there. No patch coming, unfortunately. Best to upgrade whatever old applications you have or, since it seems like you're using some relatively old software, scout around for replacements that give you the functionality you need.
Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Print & Scan and select your scanner from the list--if it's not there you'll need to add it (start with the little plus icon). Once you have it in the list you can click on the Open Scanner button and a pretty barebones scanner driver will load for you. But Image Capture (as mentioned previously), found in your Applications folder, will probably do the job as adequately, or better, than your old scanner software. -
I upgraded my imac to OS Mountain Lion and now the Seagate Goflex external HDD is not recognised
I upgraded the iMac to Mountain Lion and it does not recognize the Seagate Goflex External HDD that I was working from earlier. I do not want to buy a special program since the Goflex HDD was working on both mac and Windows without any problems before the upgrade. The Goflex HDD is still working on my Macbook pro so there is no problem in the HDD. Is there something that needs to be activated... Please help
A bit more info for those of you reading this.... the problem seemed to be in iTunes. For each connected device , if I clicked on the Photo option I could no longer select the second radio button for limiting the photos by Events, Albums, etc. It was an all or nothing deal. But selecting all would cause the error.
So I had read the other forum posts about the "&" symbol being the cause of the problem. I went through iPhoto and made all of the changes. It did not work. I then looked at iTunes, using the AlbumData2.xml file listed in the other forums as a reference. I found one album with the "&". I edited that one. Still would not work. So then I spent 3 hours on the phone with AppleCare last week. I talked with 4 different advisors. None of them had heard about the "&" error from the forums. We tried everything in iPhoto including repair and rebuild. Finally we created a whole new library and reimported my master photos from my original one. Using this option would allow me to now check off that radio button in iTunes. BUT... I now lost all of my albums and events and would need to rebuid them. I was not happy. They agreed and we set up time to talk this week.
So today I talked with AppleCare again. They now have more info and said the problem has to do with iTunes and the new iPhoto 9.4. It does not like the "&" symbol anywhere in either iPhoto or iTunes. So they now have me going through everything in my iTunes library. Genre is OK but any other item cannot have " & ". I have several dozen to edit and will do it over the weekend and then restore my original iPhoto Library and see if I can finally get it all to sync. I will let you know how I make out, but apparently you need to eliminate " & " from every entry in iTunes and iPhoto.
Quality control is not up to par with Apple these days. -
my imac is running mountain lion and last night i downloaded maverick. in midst of installing it, it said a powerPC app microsoft word would not work so i canceled the install for the time being. my questions is if i choose to finish installing maverick does that mean i will nevver be able to access word documents stored on my desktop? or do the word docs automatically convert to pages or what? i am so confused. would i be better off just sticking with mountain lion and send the maverick install to the trash? hoping someone will be able to answer my question though i am afraid the response is likely to be just stick with mountain lion so you can keep using word. i had been looking forward to maverick but it seems pretty drastic to not have access to microsoft word anymore by switching to maverick. hope someone has an answer so i can have the best of both worlds so to speak!
thanks for your response Csound1 on the peninsula ... if i go ahead and install maverick and then download LibreOffice or OpenOffice will i then be able to access old microsoft word saved documents on my deskstop through those two free alternatives? i am not that knowledgeable about these things so i am not sure if you are saying i will just be able to use libreoffice or openoffice for creating new documents or whether i can access the saved microsoft docs? are they transferred to OO or LO or what and if editing of the old word docs is needed can i do that through the OO and LO programs or apps (see i am not even sure if i am using the correct vocabulary!) hope you can answer this as quick as the first question, so i can decide to stick with mountain lion and trash the maverick install or proceed with maverick install and hoppe that my microsoft word docs are still accessible through OO or LO or adding to myquestion will pages on maverick be able to open the old word documents? thanks again!

I cannot get epson workforce to work correctly on imac mountain lion
I have not been able to get the epson workforce to work on imac mountain lion. I first tried using the epson software.
Then read that I should do it from the mac's " printer/scan".
Unfortunately when I get to the screen that says --add printer--- i cannot get workforce to appear.
Can anyone walk me through it?
I have it connected to my netgear wireless router which is recognizing it on their management page?

I recently did a factory restore on my imac mountain lion, but when i try to download OS x again apple is not recognizing my id and password
So, what exactly did you do for a "factory restore"? Which method did you try?
Did you go to the app store > Purchases? Is it listed there?
Or, did you try using the recovery method (Command + R keys or Command + Option + R keys while restarting)? Are you able/unable to reach Apple's servers to download the OS? -
Last week I've install Mac OS X Mountain Lion and then after the installation finish my IMAC start up in verbose mode. How can I turn off this mode and start my IMAC normally. I've try to key in the code "sudo nvram boot-args=" in terminal also.

Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P and R.
You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys. -
My Epson R2880 will not print after upgrading to mountain lion. Epson Co. will not help and I can't find an Apple software update. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jeff
