IMac putting pictures on Desktop after opening from email

This is driving me nuts! Every time I open something from email, a picture, a document, a video, the next thing I know it's on my Desktop. Can anyone tell me can I stop this from happening? And how it got started to begin with? Is it Thunderbird doing it? Thanks in advance!

  • How do I purge my Mac desktop after opening SCAM EMAIL?

    I accidentally opened 2 SCAM EMAILS and now need to purge my iMac.  I need VERY simple, step by step instructions, as I'm definitely not tech savvy.  Apple won't help me unless I pay $20 because even my extended coverage is ended

    Same here on an older iMac since Lion. Thanks for the uncheck wake for network access tip though, it doesn't do it either in that case, I will leave it that way.

  • Why will PDF not open from email?

    I recently modified my Adobe Reader 9.1 (with instructions from the bank) to be able to electronically sign documents.
    Since then I can not open any PDF documents from email.  I went back and reversed the changes I made. I uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled it. No luck.
    I have to save the documents and open them from Windows Explorer.
    Any Ideas?

    A fast workaround for PDF problem (See my original post)
    In Firefox:
    Open Tools > Options > Under Main tab click Save files to > click Browse
    Scroll up or down to find where you want it to go (I put mine under Documents because it's the easiest to find).
    Click New folder and label it something you will quickly recognize.
    Now when you click on a PDF attachment it will automatically be sent to that file and you can double click or open
    it in Adobe Reader
               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    (Note) If I use Internet Explorer (I have not used IE in years) I can open PDF's from Hotmail with out a problem.
    I like Firefox better so I will continue to use the quick workaround until somebody finds a fix.
    If you use IE, here are the instructions for saving PDF files.
    Click
    to open Windows Mail.
    Open a message that contains an attachment by double-clicking it
    in the message list.
    In the message window, click the File menu,
    and then click Save Attachments.
    Select the folder where you want to save the attachments.
    By default,
    Windows Mail saves attachments in your
    Documents folder. If you want to save the attachments to a different folder,
    click Browse, and then select a folder.
    Select the attachments that you want to save, and then click Save.
  • Image quality after opening from camera RAW
    Why does the image quality seem to get worse in Elements 11 once the image is opened up after editing from Camera RAW?  The image looks great in the RAW screen, then once opened in Photo editor it seems pixelated, smooth lines look jagged.  Is it something I am doing wrong?
  • After opening an email of photos from my mom, the email app won't open. I've rebooted the iPad, I've closed the app and reopeneded it. When I open it I get the basic frame (reply button, delete, etc) but none of my accts show up.
    When I first opened the email, it took forever to open. Then the pics didn't show up as pics, but as a ton of some kind of code. Since then, the app will open with just the frame, no info in the frame, no email accts or anything. Then it closes automatically after a few seconds.
    I've closed the app and reopened it, rebooted the iPad, and gone online and deleted the email itself. But the app still won't open. Help, please!!
    Thank you. I tried the soft reboot again, and the home button has been working fine this whole time. I have tried deleting the email acct from the settings and the mail app still opens only empty frames. I have a screen shot of it, but don't know how to post it here to be able to show what exactly is happening.
    The mail app will open. I can see the area that usually shows the messages themselves. I can also see the area that usually displays all the accts. Both these areas are completely blank. The search bar is showing on the left hand side, and up on the top right, the download button, reply, delete and compose buttons are showing. At the very bottom left the refresh button is showing. The app sits like that for about 20 seconds and then automatically closes. None of the buttons are responsive. I cannot see any of the email accounts I have in the app (3, usually but 2 at the moment since deleting the acct that seemed to have caused this problem).
    I have force-stopped the app, shut down and restarted the iPad, and rebooted the iPad. None of these have helped.
  • IPhoto 8.1.2 doesn't respond after opening from the dock
    i am running 10.6.7 on an imac purchased last fall. the iphoto has been a pain most of that time. it will open if i am importing photos from a digital camera (where inserting the memory card into the computer prompts iPhoto to open) but will never work when opened from the dock. the iphoto screen pops up and then I get the spinning wheel icon, and when I open the "force quit applications" utility, it tells me iPhoto is not responding and I have to force quit. are there any other answers out there besides "repair disk permissions"? that has not worked. thanks!
    Another test:
    Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
  • Submitting the forms back to GP engine after downloading from email
    Hi,
    I have a process with 2 actions.
    Action 1 creates an off-line interactive form from a template and sends to the processor by email.
    Action 2 is a visual approval.
    After Action 1, the recipient will download the form from email, add some more data to it and submits (HTTP Submit).
    I want the form to be submitted back to the same process so that the processor of action 2 can see all the data available in pdf.
    I selected "Start Process Upon Completion" and tried to invoke the same process but got a "General Error    http://nwportal:52000/gpcore/iformprocessor/adapter.adobe" upon submission. I also tried by not choosing the above option of starting a process, but still got the same error.
    Is it possible to submit back to a process which is already in progress?
    Or do I have to split the process into 2 processes and invoke the second process?
    If yes, what is the advantage of the option "Enable Use in Guided Procedures" --> "Create offline interactive form and send by e-mail" in the configuration tab of interactive form callable object.
    I found the following thread which talks about similar issue but I couldnt figure out an answer to my issue.
    Submit Form in GP: works but ErrorMessage: Cannot handle content type ...
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Ram
    Hi Ram,
    Answer to your queries :
    "Is it possible to submit back to a process which is already in progress? "
    Yes it is possible . The form once submitted back can resume the process that was waiting for it.
    "Or do I have to split the process into 2 processes and invoke the second process?
    If yes, what is the advantage of the option "Enable Use in Guided Procedures" --> "Create offline interactive form and send by e-mail" in the configuration tab of interactive form callable object.
    No you do not have to split the process into 2. "Enable Use in Guided Procedures" -- "Create offline interactive form and send by e-mail" are the correct settings for what you are trying to do.
    Regarding the error message you are facing I am not sure why this is happening, make sure your setting in the caf/eu/gp/model is correct. and check out the documents at
    SAP Composite Application Framework - CAF Tutorial Center [original link is broken] in the interactive forms section.
  • After opening an email, my screen went black
    my mom opened an email and her screen went blank. I recieved the same email everything was fine on my computer when I opened it.
    Any thoughts?
    Can you use
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583>Target Disk Mode to run Disk Utility on her machine?  Or can she boot from het install disc and do it herself?
    Disk Utility
       1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
       2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
          Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
       3. Click the First Aid tab.
       4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
       5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
       6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
    Then boot back to your internal drive and use the internal Disk Utility to repair Permissions.
  • Why do my pictures become blurry after exporting from lightroom 5?
    My pictures become somewhat blurry or not as sharp after I export them from lightroom 5. PLEASE HELP!!!
    If you are looking at your exported pictures in preview.app than that is the culprit. It uses an extremely poor downscaling algorithm for displaying large images and will make every large image, no matter how sharp originally, display blurry. In preview you can hit command-0 (that's a zero) to make the image display 1:1 to see the actual detail. Make sure you have it's preferences in the images panel set to "Define 100% scale as 1 image pixel equals 1 screen pixel". I think in older Mac OS X versions, it was called something like ignore image dpi for display or so but I don't remember. You can also make sure to downscale (with correct output sharpening in the export panel) upon export from Lightroom. If the exported image is smaller than the display, Preview should display 1:1 by default upon opening.
  • IMac wireless mouse/keyboard unavailable after awakening from sleep - OS X 10.10.3
    I am using an iMac21 inch late 2012. Has been working perfectly until I upgraded to OS X 10.10.3. Now when the iMac wakes from sleep neither the mouse or keyboard are connected. The only recourse is to force a hard restart with the power button.
    i have tried the following to no avail:
    SMC reset
    PRAM/NVRAM reset
    reboot (reconnects until computer sleeps & reawakens)
    bluetooth off/on
    repaired Bluetooth devices
    Removed & reconfigured devices
    I have set sleep (in Energy Preferences) to wait indefinitely & that has 'resolved' my issue. Albeit with an increase in energy use. Of course this isn't a fix.
    I Would be grateful if anybody had some tips on how to resolve this situation.
    thanks
  • Organizer jumps to first picture in well after exit from Full Screen viewer
    I'm using PSE 11, and noticed that I'm losing my place in the well after using the Full Screen viewer (F11). For example, if I have 300 pictures in the well, and am halfway through them on picture 150, and I select a few pictures to view Full Screen then press ESC or Exit button to go back, the organizer takes me to the top of the well, with the first picture highlighted. I have to scroll down to find where I was. Is there a way to avoid this?
    The problem mentioned above still seems to be present in PSE13. I find this so frustrating that I am considering abandoning the organizer in spite of having 14000 organised and tagged photos in my catalog. SURELY there must be a fix to this problem!
  • Photoshop Elements 4 menu items grayed out after opening from iPhoto
    Hi,
    I just set PSE4 as my preferred photo editor in the General Preferences pane of iPhoto '08. When I edit a photo in iPhoto, PSE4 boots up (as expected and desired); however, all the menu items are inexplicably grayed out now in PSE4, so doing any editing is impossible unless keystrokes are used. Unfortunately, I don't know what all the keystrokes are for various functions, if keystrokes exist for each... Does anyone know anything about this? Gurus, please help! Advance thanks.
    Heheh: the inexplicable mysteries of the digital universe. Opening PSE4 up first, and then editing the photos in iPhoto so they appear in PSE4 worked! The menu items were no longer grayed out - all functional. Thanks Terence!
  • Return to 'inbox' after opening an email & then deleting
    When I open a file from inbox, read and then delete or forward, it doesn't return to my inbox, just the next email. If I keeping opening and then need to go back to inbox, I need to use the arrow which goes through every email before ending at the inbox. Can take a long time. Need to set it but don't know how. Please help someone.
    I preume you are opening email in a new tab or window.
    To force the tab to close on 'Delete' or Move do this:
    Tools > Options > Advanced > 'Reading & display' tab
    or
    Menu icon > Options > Options > Advanced > 'Reading & display' tab
    * Select - put a check in - 'Close message window/tab on move or delete'
    * click on OK
    You can choose to view emails in the lower Message Pane. The Message Pane is not some sort of 'preview', it is the same as viewing in a tab or window and ideal for reading smaller emails.
    You can enable this using:
    View > Layout > Message Pane
    or
    Menu icon > Options > Layout > Message Pane
    or toggle the view with '''F8''' key
