Image Capture over a network

Hi All
Seeing there's no discussion page for Image Capture I thought this would be the next best place to ask.
I can't seem to save directly to my NSA drive using Image Capture.
Am I missing something or is this correct.
Thanks In Advance
Tim

Same problem here - did you ever find out why?

  • Capture over a network

    Is there a way to capture over a network? I have a Buffalo Terastation, networked through the office and it can never capture to it. I have to capture to a local drive and then copy it over. Is the network just too slow?

    100 baseT is fast enough to play back DV over, but I would never try and capture to it. There just is no guarantee that the stream will be constantly available as there is with Firewire...

  • I'm using Image Capture over one year, between my Epson XP-800 and iMac, sometimes very fast and quiet often very, very slow. I've tried to use Epson Scan 3.7.9fO but not compatible with OS X 10.9.5x Why, please..

    I'm using Image Capture over one year now, using wireless between my iMac and Epson XP-800 and sometimes very fast scans and quiet often very, very slow scans. I have tried to use Epson Scan Software 3.7.9f0 but not compatible with OS X 10.9.5x. There is very little other wireless traffic and I have a fast broadband connection. Thanks

    Mike,
    Thanks, but, I don't want more software as I have used both Epson and Image Capture. Is there not a solution with existing Epson and Image Capture..?

  • Image Capture not detecting Scanner over Network

    I have an Epson Workforce 610 which is installed as a network printer (wired ethernet) in my Home Office. OSX Mavericks will find and load the ppropriate drivers for the printer, and printing is fine. However Image Capture does not show the scanner portion in its window. Devices read as (0).
    If I connect via USB cable the Scanner shows up with no problem. Disconnect USB no scanner.
    Has anyone got a workforce 610 successfully scanning over ethernet?
    Thank,

    On the network computer, does System Preferences save it as a Shared Printer?
    The reason I ask is that I can't.
    I can select and save as follows:
    But when I re-open System Preferences, the system has de-selected it:

  • Image capture cannot detect Epson 10000XL over network.

    I have an Epson Expression 10000XL scanner with an ethernet card, connected to an Airport Express, and then wirelessly to my iMac. The Epson Scan application detects the scanner and allows scanning to take place, but Image Capture does not detect the scanner.  How do I also get Image Capture to detect my scanner wirelessly?  Thank you.

    As promised, I called Apple this morning, and they said that Epson (not Apple) was responsible for providing the drivers for their scanners.  Since I can connect my iMac and Epson scanner to all of my scanning applications through a USB connection, and can only connect wirelessly to Epson Scan, it follows that Epson provides only a driver to connect with their proprietary Epson Scan and no drivers for connecting to other scanning software, including Image Capture.
    This looks like the end of my efforts to connect wirelessly to Image Capture.  Thanks for your help, PAHU.

  • Because I have taken over 9,999  pics, my phone is now duplicating image numbers. The problem is when I am importing with Image Capture, when I select images, the program is importing BOTH the old images of the same number as well as the new ones. Help?

    Because I have taken over 9,999 images, my phone is now duplicating image numbers. The problem is that Image Capture now imports BOTH images when I select the new ones that share numbers with old ones.  The images were completely mixed when they showed up in Image Capture - Old image 0001, new image 0001, old image 0002, new image 0002 and so forth. I clicked on "date," which then rearraged the images, and I selected only the new ones, but when they actually import to my computer BOTH old and new images are importing. Has anyone figured out how to solve this problem?

    Well, obviously all I needed to do  to solve the problem was to post about it. It has stopped, so all is well!

  • How do I get Image Capture to recognize a printer on my network?

    I just got a new MacBook Pro. I have my epson printer on my network. How do I get Image Capture to recognize that I have a printer. Nothing comes up on devices. I'm sort of stabbing in the dark at network settings and I downloaded the latest Epson driver. Nothing seems to work. Can anyone help? Suz

    In Image Capture, a network printer / scanner will appear under "Shared". If it is hidden, a number will appear adjacent to it, representing the number of hidden devices.
    If it still does not appear, try resetting the printing system: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    After you do that you will need to add the device again according to the instructions here:
    OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer
    Follow the instructions below Add a network printer

  • How do i get mavericks image capture to see a networked scanner?

    we have a networked scanner, an imac & a mac mini. prior to upgrading the imac to mavericks from snow leopard [mini is still on snow leopard], neither had any issues using image capture with the scanner. since upgrading the imac to maverics, when i start up image capture, it does not see the scanner as a shared device, even though it is seen in the system pref/printer-scanner app. i have to reboot the imac to get the image capture to see the scanner. i am in the middle of scanning hundreds, if not a thousand, of old photos & this is a PITA.

    Assuming the iTunes and AppleTV are set for Home Sharing, navigate to the iTunes library listing under Computers on AppleTV - there should be a new Rentals row along with Music, TV Shows etc.
    The movie must download fully to iTunes before becoming available.  Also check it's still in iTunes and hasn't expired due to playing it inadvertently too soon.

  • Image Capture can't save to Network Server

    I have a Canon MX860 connected via wireless to my network. I'm running 10.6.6 on the mac. When I scan an image, Image Capture only allows to save to the local hard drive. It shows my Network Server (in the Scan To | Other ... dialog box), but it's grayed out, so I can't select it to save to. Is there a way to save to a network drive?

    I am having this same problem when I try to upload photos from my camera. To add to the mystery, Image Capture will allow me to import from a camera and save to my NAS using my MacBook Pro, but not with my iMac - even though both are running the latest OS X. Has anyone figured out why this happens? I spent an hour on the phone with Apple tech support and they couldn't figure it out.

  • Labeling images over a network in Bridge

    I was thinking of using Adobe Brige CS5 over a network. Mainly it would be just to see images all stored in one location on a server. Most people only have reading rights to this server. So when they open Bridge on their computer they can only view the images which is perfect. Is it possible to just have them be able to labe images on their computer fro there own use? Cant give them the writing rights. Is this possible to do.?

    Bridge is not particularily well suited for use over a network.  What you are asking would be difficult to do as it would need some kind of an interface one would have to write to act as a go between.

  • System Image over a network

    OS X Leopard Server 10.5.6
    has anyone been able to create an image of a mac over a network. My process is this:
    netboot the source mac
    share the hard drive of the source mac with the xserver. (not the netboot drive)
    open the system image utility, it recognizes the mounted source drive.
    kick it off system image, everything works fine. However, very slow
    i kicked it off yesterday, and noticed it failed sometime lastnight.
    if it fails again, i'll post up the log.
    eventually our xserver will be in a network rack away from our office and i won't have the benefit of firewire to make an image. Is this the correct way of creating an image remotely?
    thanks,
    patrick

    You can download and install the 'System Admin Tools' to any compatible Mac client (not server). Therefore you can use another Mac to create the image on and not the server. Especially if you have a production server that provides services other than NetBoot, this will reduce it's available resources. Create the image from another Mac (with Firewire or other) using System Image Utility.

  • DISM Image Capture to Network

    Good Morning,
    I have my reference image Windows 7 PC and in preparation for setting up WDS I would like to capture the reference image. I have booted into WinPE and have tried to run imagex to capture the image but I received an error advising that imagex is not compatible
    with this version of windows. As a result I have resorted to using DISM to capture the image.
    I would like to capture the image to a network share that I have setup. After booting into WinPE on the reference PC I did the following -
    net use z: "\\server\deployment share"
    diskpart > select disk c > select partition 2 > assign letter=S > exit
    dism /capture-image /imagefile:S:\win7.wim /capturedir:Z:\ /name:Win7Image
    After running the command on step 3 I received the following error -
    Error: 161
    The specified path is invalid
    Can anyone advise where I am going wrong? Is it even possible to capture to a network share using DISM?
    Jeet S

    Your commands are backwards. /Imagefile refers to the location where to save the image to and /capturedir refers to where the partition to capture is. So using your example, this might work:
    dism /capture-image /imagefile:Z:\ImagesFolder\win7.wim /capturedir:S:\ /name:"Win7Image"

  • Capturing video to a file while transmitting it over the network

    I have tried several ways to do this but non of them have worked. On the JMF Programmers Guide its stated that one could do something like this: creating a processor from a DataSource, and the taking two Datasources from the processor, one is used to transmitt the video over the network, and the other is used to save the data to a file(through a DataSink).
    One of the ways I've tried is to clone de DataSource before creating the Processor. I've also tried to clone the Data source after creating and realizing the processor. The other way I've tried is by using the JMFSolution "Video Capture Utility with Monitoring", found at the jmf's homepage, which intercepts the data carried from the capture data source to the Processor.
    Non of these have worked, and I always get Exceptions about not finding a DataSink for the DataSource I use. For example:
    "javax.media.NoDataSinkException: Cannot find a DataSink for: com.sun.media.multiplexer.RawBufferMux$RawBufferDataSource@d9850" ;
    "javax.media.NoDataSinkException: Cannot find a DataSink for: com.sun.media.vfw.PushBufferDataSource@1e45"
    I've search the Web triying to find something clear about capturing video to a file while transmitting it over the network, but nothing seems to work.
    I would appreciate a piece of an advice on this.

    you can try modifing de Capture example from JMF Solutions.
    change this function:
    public int startCapture() {
         int result = -1;
         enableComponents(false);
         buttonStart.setLabel("Pause");
         buttonEnd.setEnabled(true);
         startMonitoring();
         try {
    processor.start();
    DataSource clone = Manager.createCloneableDataSource(datasource);
         MediaLocator ml2 = new MediaLocator("file://capture.mov");
    System.out.println("Content Type " + clone.getContentType());
    datasink = Manager.createDataSink(processor.getDataOutput(), ml2);
         datasink.open();
    datasink.addDataSinkListener(this);
         datasink.start();
    result = 0;
         } catch (Exception e) {
         System.err.println("DataSink Exception " + e);
    result= -1;
    Regards.

  • Image Capture doesn't work over WiFi

    I've got an HP Printer connected via USB to an AirPort Express. I can print to it without any problems. However, if I open the Image Capture app native to OS X it doesn't show the printer, so I can't scan documents. Is there any way to get Image Capture (or any other app which from which I can scan) to recognize the printer when it's connected via the AirPort Express?
    Thanks

    Is there any way to get Image Capture (or any other app which from which I can scan) to recognize the printer when it's connected via the AirPort Express?
    Sorry, but no. Printers connected to the AirPort's USB port are supported only for printing. Advanced printer functions like copying, faxing, or scanning (as in this case) are not supported.

  • No Preferences with Image Capture

    No Preferences option when Image Capture app is running. I can't believe it, but is this new in SL? If so why?
    I have discovered the Prefs for AutoImporter. Is that all there are?
    I am ham-strung by my Canon SX200 failing to be recognised as a USB device so I can't see it to strip out the image files in Finder, nor will its images show up in Picasa. When the camera appears in Image Capture, the chance to modify what app is opened and setting this to AutoImporter dumps the pics into a folder. Can this be (simply) modded to run AutoImp AND Picasa?

    First: no Prefs in Image Capture, There are Prefs in AutoImporter, It seems odd that the more user-facing IC has none.
    The preferences are there, just not in a separate preferences window like with many other apps. When you attach a camera with firmware or add-on software compatible with Mac OS X, it appears in the "Devices" list of Image Capture. Click on it in the devices list & you should get a resizable view of its images on the right & on the left, below the Devices list, a +device settings+ pane with the same name as in the devices list. The +per camera+ preferences are there, allowing you to select an app (or no app) to automatically open when that camera is connected, whether or not to share the camera over the local network, & if the images in the camera should be automatically deleted after import. If you don't see the device settings pane, click on the icon at the bottom of the Devices list to expose it.
    If you are concerned about accidentally wiping the camera's images, do not select the preference "Delete After Import." This setting is retained, so unless you select the delete option again, that won't happen.
    If you have already selected some other app to automatically open, the next time you connect the camera, launch Image Capture manually & change that preference to the desired app (or to no app). That preference will be retained as well. You can't set more than one app to launch automatically, though. This would result in both apps trying to manage the camera's images at the same time, leading to a crash or an error in one or both of them, depending on their design.
    Of course, you can also set any available preferences of the app you have chosen to handle the images. This will vary depending on that apps capabilities & design as well. That's why you can't set AutoImporter's preferences from within Image Capture -- it is a separate app that just like its name suggests, only automatically imports the images into a pre-designated folder hierarchy.
    For whatever app you choose to automatically open, you also get whatever 'per connection' options that app supports. For instance, both Image Capture & Preview have the same resizable view of the images, & the same row of options along the bottom of that. Until you click one of the two import buttons, nothing happens to the images in the camera, & they are deleted on import only if that preference is set.
    If you think about it, this is a very logical & flexible implementation. You have +per device+ preferences conveniently centralized in one app, but +per application+ preferences & +per connection+ options localized in each application, since they may vary greatly from app to app. This gives you many more options than if everything was crammed into Image Capture.
    Does that make sense?
