Image comparison

how two compare two images, which are stored in database

Dear friend,
Images are generally stored in which format--long or long raw and it is difficult to compare them. So it is not possible to do the comparison. I am trying to find 3rd party tool as soon I will get I will let you know.

  • Can intermedia be trained to do the image comparison

I already sent email to Larry, I think he is working on my questions now, and I tried to use the functions to compare two teeth image signatures which from one person, same teeth pictures with some difference, then I got totally different results.

since intermedia user JAI internally, I am wondering if the comparison method used by JAI or intermedia are based on neural network knowledge, if so, is there a way to train intermedia for specific application like mine--teeth image comparison? can the comparison only focus on the shape of one or two teeth in the middle of the pictures?
    thanks for any answer,
    Tianjian Wang

No, we are not based on neural network technology, and currently there is no way to train interMedia for specific domains. Also we currently do not have the ability to focus on one or two teeth in the middle of the picture (that is, focus on a region).

  • Image comparison to extract odd pixels from one image

    Hello,
I am just trying to make one screen capture application which will send captured image to a remote system. I have succeeded in making the basic screen capture application using robot class. The image has to be refreshed at a rate of 1 or 2 frames per second for my application. If I transmit the complete image at this rate, then bandwidth problem will occur. Is there any way where I can compare 2 images, one base image and other newly captured image and takes out only the pixels which has changed and transmit only that pixel to the remote system where I can rebuild the image with transmitted pixels.

  • Advanced image comparison. Is there any?

I want to know if adobe (or other, if adobe has no intention fo doing this in future) have some advanced software to compare similar images (like google is doing online already).
I have 1 image and a image database (150.000) and I want to search identical images on that source.
Similar is not equal. I want to manualy search on the results previously found by the software.
It could be slow, because I put the searching tool working the night and do the rest during the day.

Edit: Funny, isn’t it, that some features of Photoshop Elements that are lacking in Photoshop proper seem quite interesting.

  • How can I create system image of Win-7 only on drive with Win-7 (NTFS) and Win-ME (FAT-32) system partitions

I am trying to create a Windows 7 Image Backup on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit PC.
I have two bootable partitions on my hard drive. One is NTFS and contains the Win-7 system files.
The other is FAT-32 and contains a Windows-ME system.
When it comes to selecting the drives (partitions) for backing up, both are marked as System, and both are selected. Both are also "greyed out) - I cannot uncheck them.
Furthermore, the Windows-7 imaging utility supplied with Windows-7 returns an error saying it cannot image the disk because it contains a partition that is not NTFS.
How can I select and image ONLY the NTFS partition that contains the Win-7 system? That is what I want to do.

Any of the products listed below will backup the contents (all partitions) of your disk drive. The only limitation is that you must install the backup software in Windows 7. You will perform a "Disk and Partition" backup by manually selecting
the disk and all partitions (NTFS / FAT32) and the Master boot Record (MBR) on the drive. The destination / where the Image Backup will be stored should be an external USB drive. With a "Disk and Partition" backup you can restore any partition
to your existing drive or the entire backup (to the same disk drive or a new drive).

  • Images look fine in Bridge, but way off when opened in Photoshop

Not sure what I've done to my system, but am now having some color-management woes. I am using Photoshop and Bridge CS5.1, and for some reason, the color-management is not consistent between Bridge and PS... although it used to be until just recently. I am on a Mac Pro tower with a properly calibrated monitor (using an Eye One Pro), and all my other color-managed applications are behaving just fine, but I have this discrepancy now within Adobe where if I view an image in Bridge, it looks correct, but when I open that same image in Photoshop, it comes up way too light and desaturated. I have verified that a correct profile is embeded in each image, but this happens regardless of the source file. I have opened up grayscale images with a dot gain or gamma profile embedded, images with no profile embedded, sRGB and Adobe 1998 profiled images, and they all open up too bright. It seems like some kind of conversion must be happening, but I can't understand what that would be. Color Settings is set to preserve embedded and ask when opening for mismatches, but that's the same as it's always been on my system. I understand without a "suite" install, I cannot access the Creative Suite Color Settings dialog to sync color across multiple Adobe apps, but things have been fine for years between my PS & Bridge, so clearly I've done something wrong. It's also worth noting that RAW images in Bridge open up looking identical in the Photoshop RAW processing dialog, so somehow this is more related to TIFF, PSD & JPEG files.
I have used the Cocktail app for general system maintenance on my Mac, and in the dialog to delete old cahce files, I do recall it had an option to clear Color Sync cache (along with a bunch of other caches), so maybe that "clean up" somehow dirsupted my color matching abilities?
I was on CS5 when I noticed this problem, so I tried uninstalling that, downloading the slightly newer CS5.1 and re-installing, but the problem persists. Maybe the uninstaller app doesn't get rid of all the hidden support files, or maybe this is something else entirely? Have trashed prefs files and relaunched, still same problem.
Note how image on right is much lighter, shadows start to look posterized, colors lose saturation. Left is Bridge and Right is Photoshop. Screenshot done on calibrated monitor.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Thanks for your reply. Screenshot of my Color Settings attached. These are the same settings I've been using for many years.
What's most interesting is your reminder to look at Soft Proofing. I normally only use that when prepping an image for print, and want to predict what different paper types will "do" to my image.,, i.e. matte paper has less d-max, etc. SO, My assumption was that Soft Proofing is normally in the OFF position unless I turn it on, and/or toggle it on-off with Cmd-Y keyboard shortcut one engaged. BUT, your assessment was spot-on, in that when I opened up the View > Proof Colors dialog, it was set to Working CMYK. Not sure why, how, or when that became the default.
In all my time years with Photoshop, I've never needed to worry about soft proofing being ON without my permission, so I'm unclear how this came about. I honestly don't even know what the default has been for all the time that this was not on my radar as being a problem, I only know that when I did opt to soft proof an image, I woulp open the Proof Colors dialog, choose the appropriate device-specific paper profile to simulate, and then turn it back off when done. It would make sense to me that the default display in PS should match the (hopefully calibrated) monitor as a starting point.
Several more screenshots below, experimenting with various Proof conditions. This one is a 16-bit Grayscale image, with my usual 1.8 Gray Gamma color space embedded. This was my first experiment, not knowing what the correct default should have been (or was for many years). My assumption was that proofing the same color space as the document (G 1.8 = G 1.8), there should be no visible difference, but in fact there is. The left image is open in PS being soft proofed to it's own G 1.8 color space, and it appears visibly brighter than the same image to the right in Bridge.
Now here's the same comparison, with Proofing set to G 2.2, which should be wrong, but visually looks like a much better match.
Next I tried a color image, with Document Profile as the proof condition. Again, the Bridge image on the right looks correct, the PS image on the left looks washed out by comparison.
Here is the same image comparison, now with Monitor RGB enabled (which pulls my current monitor profile as the device to simuulate). I'd say this is either perfect, or a much better match. This also makes sense and correlates to my suspicion that PS should be showing you things in your native monitor profile until you ask it to do otherwise with a custom soft-proofing scenario.
So now that I think I've figured it out, I leave the Monitor RGB as the device to simulate, close the image, and re-open the image just to be sure, and this is what I get...
Essentially back to the same problem. I verified that View > Proof Colors is still set to my Monitor RGB, but it's as if it's not really being applied. SO, I changed it so something else, and then changed it back, and then it looks correct... as if I somehow need to kick it and remind it to do what it's already set to do.
So, the short answer is THANK YOU for reminding me to look at the proofing setup, becasue no I at least have a kind of workaround and know where to look. The tricker part is to understand why the default doesn't really stick to the Monitor RGB (if that is even the correct place for it to stay set to), and how or why did i get off into Working CMYK in the first place, as that's not a setting I've ever used on purpose.
    Thanks again,
    Eric

  • Acrobat Reader DC - Bug with Dialog Boxes Containing Images?

    Hi all -
Been testing Reader DC.  Only took a couple of minutes to adjust to the new interface; pretty slick and intuitive.
Noticed a potential issue that I wanted to warn/share/prob solve with the community.
I was putting Reader DC through it's paces with a XFA PDF that has some dialog boxes, some of which even had images in them.  (Thanks again to BR001.)
The dialog boxes with images look great on Acrobat & Reader 9/10/11 (WIN & MAC) - images are clear; no pixelation.
Reader DC on MAC appears to be fine - resolution looks the same.
But Reader DC on WIN - the images are now pixelated. Especially around the edges, characters/numbers, etc.  You can tell something is "off" with the image.
A few simple side-by-side tests can be seen at links below.  Reader DC is on left; Acrobat 9 (9.5.5) is on right.

Bug in Reader DC for Windows? Not sure what else the cause could be...
Anyone having their dialog boxes with images open in Reader DC for Windows WITHOUT the pixelation?

  • How to Compare Two Camera's capture  Image in j2me

i want to know ,how to compare two Camera's capture image in j2me,
in my midlet application i used MMapi to access Camera.& capture two image through Camera. Then i want to store new image instead of previous one in mobile phone memory.
Please tell me how that comparing will done.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I didnt know about the image comparison, but here is one more idea to store the new picture, whenever you captured the picture take the time and when you take another picture compare the times of both pictures then save the picture with latest time.
But there is one flaw in this approach, if user explicitly changed the time and captured the pictures it wont work properly.

  • Created jpegs but now they want TIFFs, how can I avoid a re-shoot?

    Hi All.
I shot loads of images as jpegs as requested. Now the customers says actually I'll need them in TIFF!! As the shoot went on I exported the images to 34 folders with 56 subfolders containing 751 jpeg images. I now need to supply exactly the same but with TIFFs. Now I still have the raw files in my C: and it would be lovely to simply re-import them and export them as TIFFs but without looking at every single raw file and finding where ever the corrosponing jpeg is I have no way of exporting the new TIFFs to sit alongside their jpeg counterparts, if you see what I mean? Is there anyway I can utilise/batch process the raw files and export them to right folders as TIFFs?
    Many thanks

Right after I posted I realized I probably had that wrong, but couldn't take it back .
Anyway, if the jpeg filenames were derived from metadata in the raw files (even if not keywords), this will be fairly straight-forward. If jpeg filenames were typed in one-at-a-time, then not so straight-forward.
So, assuming the jpegs were renamed, how were those names generated? by hand??, or by machine???......
    Summary:
    ========
The objective is clear: we need to "reverse map" the jpegs to the raws... however, in order to know how to reverse map, it would help to know how they were mapped in the first place.
Yes, you may be able to find a 3rd party app to actually do image comparison, but we're trying to see about doing it in Lightroom first, or at least I am...

  • I have a laptop running Win 7 Pro, can I setup a dualboot with Win XP

My laptop is running Win 7 Pro (32-bit) but I have a Iomega Zip 100 drive which has not been supported since Win XP. I have numerous discs with content I would like to access and put onto CD. Can I set up a dualboot system with Win 7 and Win XP without
    affecting my current data?

The first thing you need to do is verify that there are Windows XP chipset and device drivers for your laptop. If there are none then XP may not function properly, no mouse, keyboard, video, USB ports may no work and more.
If there are drivers then read the following:

  • Please Help!  Need thumbnails from Album SE imagewell cache to help recover from HD crash

    Hello,
I have 8 years of photos organized in Album SE. The external drive that I keep the photos on crashed in the middle of a backup operation. I lost around 1/2 of my photos. I was able to recover thousands of JPEGS from the drive with recovery software but they are simply generically named 00001.jpg, 00002,jpg, etc. through 11321.jpg and are devoid of any metadata. I have found image comparison software that can recognize duplicate images between hard drive directories (even with resizing or resolution differences). My only hope to recover my album is to somehow retrieve the thumbnails from the cache, save them by their original filenames, and then use the duplicate image finder along with some scripting to match, identify, and then rename the recovered files. I can then relink them to the album and be fully restored.
I have gotten as far as finding the tn.4.cache file, and can get to the metadata through MS Access; but of course I have no way of getting the thumbnails out of the cache without help.
These photos are from my toddler's first few years and I also lost many recent pictures of my 3-week old son. If anybody from Adobe or any users could provide any assistance I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
    Bill Starrs

Jim, thanks for the information. The images that I have recovered are at 1200x1600, there are just way too many of them to sort through and they have lost their original names and metadata in recovery. My objective is to identify and rename them using a comparison tool so they are organized again; if not I have to visually sort through 11 thousand images to find the one I want.
I have been using the image comparison software to try to eliminate duplicate images from my recovery. It has proven successful at matching up 1200x1600 originals with 56x75 thumbnail files of the same images.
Yes, if I screen capture, crop, and save each missing image I can rebuild my collection either as 300x400 images or link them back through comparison to 1200x1600, but there are thousands of these. I can't capture, crop, save, and rename thousands of files. The frustrating thing is that work is already done for me in the image cache. Are there no Adobe people browsing these groups that could cut me some slack?
    Thanks,
    Bill

I would really appreciate any help here!
thank you very much and greeting from germany!
    rabbit

    Hmmm,
You want to create a tablespace in a Java program?
I would not think this is recommended practice. This is typically done by a system administrator. If your database configuration needs change (or if image comparison software tablespace needs change due to an upgrade), it would be great for the system administrator to be able to configure the tablesppaces without the application having this hard coded.
That being said, I would try this in PL/SQl first. The user who performs this tablespace function must have sysadmin privleges (which more than suggests the database tablespaces should be set up by the system adminstrator).
The typical database user is not allowed to make tablespaces.
I would create the tablespace as system (or sys)first... Perhaps you did this? I think 1 meg is a bit small as well for an initial size...
Are the tablespace files created at all?
Can you do this in PL/SQL and post the results of creating the tablespace (as user sys or system)? and then creating the index?
    Thanks,
    Larry

  • Single folio optimized for ipad 1/2 and 3

Is it possible to publish a single app, produced with adobe dps, that is optimized for retina display as well as for the older ipads?
so that a customer could buy the app at itunes, and depending on his device, he gets the ipad1/2-version or the retina-version of the single magazine.

    Bob L.,
Actually, the print parallel is exactly the way I'm approaching DPS. If I'm printing 150 line screen and an image is 150dpi (or anything less than 300dpi), that's an issue that needs to be fixed. I'm not going to just run it and hope the client doesn't notice. The image is either the correct resolution, or below the correct resolution.
In the case of DPS, I am unable to use the correct resolution for both iPad 1/2 and iPad 3 if I want to distribute a single-edition app. What I want is to be able to target devices and ensure the correct resolution folio is rendered on each device. Renditions is exactly the right feature to accomplish this, but it being limited to multi-issue apps is what's tripping me up. I understand the way the feature is implemented now will not allow for it to exist in single-issue apps. My hope is Adobe changes the way it works and considers renditions an essential feature, regardless of the type of app. In other words, renditions as it is now feels like leveraging Adobe's already-existing services to accomplish a great feature, but perhaps a fresh look at the feature is what's needed to move it beyond its current limitations.
As for file size, I did not say I'm not concerned about it. Rather, I said I'm less concerned about it than quality. For our business, quality is top priority. Our clients and customers have a discerning eye. The image comparison I posted above should illustrate the vast quality difference and the folly in assuming 1024 folios look "nearly identical" or "good enough" on the new iPad.
And yes, I realize we can do "the whole thing" with HTML. We create our own webapps, do all of our own hosting and have staff that develops in Rails, Javascript, HTML, etc. Our production staff, however, knows nothing but InDesign. My hope with DPS was to ensure our production staff could create publications for print and use DPS for tablet publishing. But, the more I learn about DPS, the more attractive building our own apps leveraging HTML sounds.
I'm posting my feedback here thinking Adobe might like to know that a small publishing company like ours is evaluating DPS and coming to the conclusion we may be better off moving away from Adobe's tools altogether, including InDesign, and working in HTML.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    2) After downloading the correct .iso file install HashCalc and validate the SHA1 hash value is correct.
    HashCalc:
    http://www.slavasoft.com/hashcalc/index.htm
(Note: If the download is not corrupt, the value HashCalc returns will match the SHA1 value I posted)
    a) Launch HashCalc and navigate to the location of the .iso file you downloaded.
(The default download location is: C:\Users\User account name\Downloads)
    b) Remove all check marks from the list of HashCalc options except for SHA1.
    c) Click the ‘Calculate’ button and wait for the SHA1 string of letters and number to be displayed.
    3) Next use ImgBurn (or Gear ISO) to create a bootable DVD.
    ImgBurn:
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/imgburn.html
Note: When installing ImgBurn, choose the "Custom Installation (advanced)" option and remove the check mark(s) to eliminate unwanted options, including Optimizer Pro (I do not accept) which is not needed.

(The steps are the same for Windows 7 or Windows 8), except you are not creating a Repair disc but a full installation DVD)
    Note:
Always use high quality DVD+R media and the slowest burn speed (4x or 6x) if offered a choice.
    Note:
Skip to step #4 to create a bootable Flash / Thumb drive.

    ====================== Keyless Install ==============================
How to perform a 'Keyless Install' of Windows:
Boot from the Windows 7 DVD disc or USB flash drive you created and start the installation process.
    Note:
If this message pops up, read the following:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" or "A media driver your computer needs is missing"
    https://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2755139
This issue occurs for one of the following reasons:
•The installation DVD is removed during the setup process.
•A low-quality DVD was used to create the installation DVD.
•The speed at which the installation DVD was burned was too fast.
•The DVD drive cannot read the media.
    •The ISO file is corrupted.
After you enter user name and password you will be asked to:
'Type your Windows product key',  do not enter a key.
Also located just below the box where you would enter the key is a box with a check mark
to 'Automatically activate Windows when I am online', remove the check mark and click 'Next'.
You will now have a 30 day grace period in which to activate Windows.
During the grace period you can install your device drivers,
run Windows Updates and resolve any other problems or issues.
Once you are satisfied everything is functioning properly, then activate Windows.
    ====================== Device Drivers ==============================

If there are Windows 7 drivers, then download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the Motherboard/chipset drivers, SATA, LAN, Audio, USB, Graphics, Webcam, Etc., and so on.
