Image configuration in OBIEE 11g

I am aware of image configuration in OBIEE 10g. Now I want to implement in OBIEE 11g, where I want to add the image. Which service I want to restart?

To Change Login Image in OBIEE 11g:
We have to keep the image in this path and control of length,height,color resides in login.css file which is present in the same path.
\\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\bi_server1\tmp\_WL_user\analytics_11.1.1\7dezjl\war\res\sk_blafp\login\
To Change Images in reports in OBIEE 11g:

\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\app\res\s_blafp\images
To Change the Top Image:

No need to restart the services,just clear the cache and reload files and metadata.

Hi,
Placing the image file in /l_en folder dint work for me too however you can place them inside the following paths and restart the services,
1)
\MW_HOME\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\AdminServer\tmp\_WL_user\analytics_11.1.1\silp1v\war\res\s_blafp\images
2)
\MW_HOME\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\app\res\s_blafp\images
You can then call your file with the url, http://hostname:port/analytics/res/imagefile.jpg
Its worked for me, let me know in case of any issues.

Display BLOB/CLOB image data in OBIEE 11g

Dear Gurus,
I want to display employee profile picture in dashboard, the image data was saved as blob/clob image.
How to configure and display it in obiee?

actually im not using EBS, im just using publisher with OBIEE 11g.
if explain step by step what you wrote first replay-
Let i have a table with one BLOB column.
1) first load blob data to my table
2) create data model from oracle publisher.
3) change the xdm file with above tagline , my xdm file is in below link-
C:\mw_bi_home\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\catalog\SampleAppLite\root\shared\zia%2exdm
i don't know is that right step? because if i re-open the xdm file after change by your given tagline its shows error.

we recently changed database Hostname. What are the next steps to configure in obiee? when i login to oracle enterprise manager, all the services are down?

I am trying to send emails through OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 using oracle's internal email server stbeehive.oracle.com - port 465 email server
This is failing with following error in Agent Log,

1. Go to Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware control
2. Go to Deployment -> Mail Tab
3. Configure the email server as follows,
SMTP Server: stbeehive.oracle.com
Port: 465
Display Name of the Sender: Oracle Business Intelligence
Email Address of Sender: <<oracle email id>>
Username: <<oracle email id>>
Password: <<Password>>
Confirm Password: <<Password>>
Number of Retries upon failure: 1
Maximum recepients (enter zero for no maximum): 0
Addressing Method: Blind Copy Recipients (BCC)
Secure Socket Layer
* Select "Use SSL to connect to mail server"
* Specify CA Certificate source: Directory
* CA Certificate Directory: <<leave this input blank>>
* SSL certificate verification depth: 9
* SSL cipher list: <<leave this input blank>>
Note: I am able to connect to stbeehive.oracle.com email server (port: 465) through a Java Email program which is currently scheduled to send automated emails to our team members.
I don't know what I have to provide in SSL configuration. The OBIEE documentation is not very clear. Please tell me what I am doing wrong here.

The issue was with CA certificate file. Following steps from a OBIEE guru worked for me:-
From my FireFox browser (Tools->Options->Advanced->Encryption), I exported the 3 certificates required by stbeehive into a new directory:
VeriSignClass3InternationalServerCA-G3.crt
VeriSignClass3PublicPrimaryCertificationAuthority-G5.crt
VerisignClass3PublicPrimaryCertificationAuthority.crt
The last one being the root CA.
So back in EM, I set:
Specify CA certificate source: file
CA certificate file: <MyCertDir>\VerisignClass3PublicPrimaryCertificationAuthority.crt
I saved & re-started the services, and then re-ran the Agent, and the Agent email was delivered to me successfully.

How To place two images in a obiee 11g Report Page header

I want to place two images (one at top left and another at top right ) above the table view . I am not sure how it is called as. i think it is page header . Can anyone let me know how to accomplish this ?

Pdf output of the report header should display images one at extreme left and extreme right.

Configuration issue related OBIEE 11G coreapplication_obips1

Not sure about the behaviour in 11g, but we faced a similar issue in 10g while passing the presentation varaibles to detail report where main/detail report where coming from different subject areas. The behavior was a little unpredictable. To overcome this, we tried using request variable instead of presentation variable and it worked for us.
You can give it a try by doing the same and see if it works for you.

Links to document in OBIEE 11G

Hi,
I would like to know, how certain links to stored document can be configured in OBIEE 11G
eg: We have 'Help' icon, on click it opens up the 'Help Doc' which is stored in default (../analytics/olh/l_en) location.
I want to know where are the settings (in which files) to edit the link and point to someother location

Ok,
We wanted to show an Icon or Link which will navigate user (once clicked) to a pre-defined location where 'Help Content Files' will be located.
Now, I was able to achieve this with the use of "Link or Image" object from 'Dashboard Objects' (once you edit Dashboard check the options at LHS); and configuring 'Link or Image Object' with path to files as well as image.

Image Prompts in OBIEE 11.1.1.5

I am able to display an image as a logo on an analysis using the fmap notation... say fmap:Images/myimage.jpg.
However, I am unable to use the image in an Image Prompt using either the fmap notation or explicit URL.
I have uploaded the image to 2 locations:
/bifoundation/web/app/res/s_blafp/images/myimage.jpg
/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/bi_server1/tmp/_WL_user/analytics_11.1.1/7dezjl/war/res/s_blafp/images/myimages.jpg
I have restarted the services.
I've tried various URLs but cannot display the image in the prompt.
Any ideas?

Pre-Configured Virtual Machine with OBIEE 11g available?

does Oracle offer a pre-configured Virtual Machine with OBIEE 11g? I found an old Virtual Box Image with 10.2..., but nothin newer.

OBIEE 11g : Unable to see any images while customizing styles and skins

I am trying to customize OBIEE 11g style and skin. I followed the steps mentioned at http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/12/oracle-bi-ee-11g-styles-skins-custom-xml-messages/ and also in oracle white paper http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi/customizing-oracle-biee-11g-176387.pdf.
I am not able to see any images on any OBIEE screens. After login, I can see the name of skin which i have created as the default skin but login page images, header images (after login) are not coming up. Can you please provide solution?
P.S. I have not changed any images or any css files in the custom skin and style directory. I just wanted to know first whether the new skin/style works for me. If it works, then i will apply some sort of customization.

Error while configuring OBIEE 11G OPMN Service during Installtion

Hello,
i tried installing 11G with simple install on Vista and didnot work, I think 11g does not work on Any Vista and not sure of W7
second, i tried installing the same on Windows XP and the installtion worked fine till the end and while configuring OPMN Services,
the OBIPS Services and OBICCS services failed, i retried to configure this services with "retry" option but never worked, so i skipped this part thinking that
i can configure this manually. finally i was not able
weblogic's Admin server, Managed server, Node manager and Analytics.war deployments are all healthy in EM Console and Weblogic console
the Fusion Middleware control in EM Console shows the BI Components are not started and i tried restarting it and but never started.
so i think there is something wrong with OPMN configuration at the end of installtion
is there a way to trouble shoot this.
i tried searching of SAWSERVER service so i can start the manaully, but it did not start
i did a softwareonly install on top this single instance installtion thinking if that can help me, but it didnt
so please anyone help me

Hi Kumar,
I believe OBICCS is the Oracle BI Cluster Controller Service. That particular service requires a static IP address. A lot of people use the loopback adaptor to accomplish.
Here's a quick rundown of some things you should check before installing OBIEE 11g.
1. Make sure you have a static IP (use a loopback adaptor if you have to).
2. Make sure your static IP adaptor is the first adaptor in your connections list. You can do this by going to Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections -> Advanced. Use the up and down arrows to ensure that the static IP is the top of the list.
3. Make sure you hosts file (c:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) has the proper entry for the static IP address. For example, if your computer is called MyComputer and your static IP is 192.168.0.1, then the first entry should be: 192.168.0.1 MyComputer. Note: You may need to have your domain on your entry. ie. 192.168.0.1 MyComputer.mydomain.com.
I recommend you check those things. If you missed one of them, fix it and then back out the 11g install and re-install.

What sort of installation you are trying to do..???
Enterprise or Software only..?
From where you have downloaded the OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.6.0 dump..? edelivery or from other source..??
Your error is saying that patch +"p6599470_111070_Generic.zip"+ is missing.
Down load it from oracle and apply the patch. The details, How to apply the patch will be provided in that zip file only.

OBIEE 11G error while installation at the configuration setting(ASinstance)

Hi Experts,
I am trying to Install OBIEE 11G on Windows on Local PC.But getting the following error .
"Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space" at the configuration step of ASinstance.
I have set the virtual memory to maximum.Machine's RAM is 2 GB and Virtual memory is 4 GB which meeets system requirement for OBI.
I have treid few options but nothing seems to workout :( . and even Downloaded and tried to Install the software again.
Any help on this highly appreciated.

I checked FMW_SECURITY_SERVICE_URL parameter in the NQSConfig.ini file.
This parameter is using VIP (admin server listen to this) and not the actual IP of the server.
Should I change this URL and point it to actual IP.
What is the procedure to change this parameter using EM?

Security service error in OBIEE 11G LDAP configuration

I've recently set up some OBIEE 11G installations and they appear to work ok.
I've more recently been using various guides on the internet to configure OBIEE 11G and Active Directory and can see the users and groups within Weblogic that belong the to the Provider that i've configured.
However, when I attempt to start up OPMN, it always gives me the error like the following:

oracle.security.idm.OperationFailureException: Requested Object Class (user)not found in cache.
<Jun 24, 2013 1:52:20 PM NZST> <Error> <oracle.bi.security.service> <OBI-SEC-00004> <Unable to initialize oracle.bi.security.service.SecurityWebService>
I initially had the User Object Class as User in the Provider configuration and noticed it wasn't in the LDAP directory so I tried changing it to a Object Class that did exist for one of the users but it made no difference. It still says the same error message even though I have no reference to User in the configuration.
Can anyone suggest something I might be doing wrong or missing?

I have followed the same configuration. However i am getting the following error when i try to login
Caused by: oracle.bi.security.service.SecurityServiceException: SecurityService::authenticateUserWithLanguage - '<LDAP user>' was authenticated but could not located within the Identity Store.
I guess some configuration issue, but cannot be able to spot the error. Please let me know your idea
