Hi,
I want to upload some of my photos to my site, what size and format to use thats best for viewing on the web....
atm raw images are 2522x1944 waaay too big ... need to reduce size of image & file ?

You can work with compression levels with PNG images. I personally find that PNG is as good or superior to JPEG at similar file sizes. You just need to play around and see what you like. One helpful hint: ImageMagick is a great way to do batch editing of files. You can resize and convert images one or many at a time; and since it has no GUI, it can do it in a hurry. Create a transparent swap image slice over an html slice

I have a 990px x 400px page divided into two halves horizontally.
The left slice is a html slice that consists of an unordered list with hrefs to various pages.
The right slice is an image that I want to put some polygon hotspots with each having a swap image behavior to swap an image over the html slice and I am unsure how to put a transparent image slice over a html slice.
Sure could use some help.

You can't overlap slices in Fireworks, as Fireworks needs to have a clearly defined, single image to export. Overlapping slices or hotspots makes that impossible. This means that, for one thing, you can't put polygon hotspots over your left slice.

Amount of key presses a user makes over time - BPM

Hi,
Im working on a small program that needs to get the amount of keypresses a user makes over time.
Basically its for calcuating the BPM a user is inputting. So a uers taps a beat for 5 seconds and the amount of tap is saved and multiplied by 12 to get the Users BPM.
So far i have this:

It doesnt seem to like me parsing int to string here:

Yikes, you've got that bit of code backward, there partner.
You use Integer.parseInt to parse a String into an int, not the other way around.
If you want to change an int to a String, do
String s = String.valueOf(i)or you can use the various formatters out there.

Help! Why do my images look overly sharp and appear to download?

I recently updated CC and now my images look overly sharp when I'm batching or working at a smaller size. When zoomed in at 50% they look fine. Is there any way to fix this? It's very difficult to work with everything looking so warped at a smaller scale. Also, when I open a file after batching and running an action it appears to "download" line by line instead of just opening. What is going on?

When I am batching multiple images and running actions, I don't want to view them at 100% they are huge files. 24 megapixels, on average 60.5M and 3925x5945 at 300 dpi. That's REALLY zoomed in. I was not having this issue with CC until I updated it and now everything looks warped at a smaller scale. I want to know why it changed and how to change it back.

i think its normal,
Web proxy and TMG Firewall clients will rely on the TMG firewall to provide hostname resolution, SecureNAT clients perform their own hostname resolution,
Lets take an example :
If you click on outlook, TMG will forward DNS request to internal DNS server which is configured on your TMG NIC and if TMG is gateway for the DNS server, Internal DNS server will again forward DNS query to internet via TMG. So you will find more traffic
for DNS.
If you want to reduce DNS lookup, Then you need to Install Cache DNS which will cache all the frequent records from internet , on your internal DNS servers ( All DNS server of all location ), forward all the DNS requests to Cache DNS
server IP. So when a request is made to internet, Cache DNS will provide the lookup without going to Public internet which will reduce huge traffic on your firewall.

[SOLVED] Image going over the size of my TV

I just upgraded my TV to a 47'' panasonic SmartTV from my old LV 32'' one.
I connect it via HDMI for video playback and xbmc use: The video card is a nVidia GT 240
The problem I'm facing is, at 1080p @ 60Hz, the image goes over the edges of the TV, like is bigger than the tv itself, so you lose some inches from each side.
At 720, the image looks to fit right but this is not the desired resolution.
I use nvidia-settings in order to tweak xorg.conf, but I had to add some options by hand for the fonts to have 96dpi.
Can anyone help me to find the solution for this?
I have a windows partition for gaming and when I booted it up for testing i faced the same issues.....

The problem is the TV itself. I have no idea why, but regular HD TVs usually cut a few pixels from each side, doing a slight zoom in. This is called overscan. You can usually disable this in the TV settings by setting the image size to "fullscreen" instead of 16/9.
Some quick Googling gave me this article, it seems pretty detailed (I'm learning myself right now why all TVs do this).

Image all over the button

Wonder if it is possible to place an image all over the button (as if it is "center" borderLayout).

Images printing over double page spreads

Hi all,
I was just about to order a new book through Aperture, when I looked closely at the PDF and noticed that there was image duplication when an image was placed across a double page spread - the duplication occurs right where the spine would be - about an inch (maybe less) or so of the photo is repeated on both the left and right pages. Has anyone else experienced a problem with this? Is this correct? Perhaps it's just allowing for the binding process. Any help gratefully taken - even more so if you could check your own printed books and see if there are any issues with images printed over a double page spread.

I've answered by own question (or had it answered by Apple) - DO NOT drag an image box over the spine - it will cause a significant amount of duplication of the image on both the left and right pages. This will be reflected in the print version.
I've suggested to Apple that there should be something that stops users from doing this. In my opinion, it's not good enough that the software interface allows you to do this, only to screw it up at the print stage.

Backup drive lost all images transferred over

The beginning of this month I helped a friend back up her photos onto an external drive. We moved over 10K photos and then around 400 music files.
We then set up Time Machine to back up everything as it should. I checked her settings and compared them with mine on my iMac and it all checked out fine.
Time machine has been backing up her stuff as normal but MANY things are missing.
Once we moved all her important stuff to those folders outside of the time machine backups, we ejected the external and then proceeded to clean up and remove those images from her iPhoto to clear up space on her computer. She doesn't have a very big hard drive and she simply ran out of room. Putting those images on the external was intended to preserve them.
They are gone. ALL of them and she has not used the laptop since that day other than to let time machine back up.
We work together over Team Viewer to do this as she lives in another state.
Other than her lying to me, what could have made 10K photos disappear? ALL the movies are there. only the photos disappeared.
Also, the backup in Time Machine does not have the lost images. Makes no sense. We both SAW all those images there, saved and in proper order.
Also, she uses DropBox and we moved all the stuff from there to the external for safe keeping and the same thing - the folder is there, but the images are gone. Only the movies are preserved.
How can Time Machine only preserve select images from iPhoto and if she didn't do anything to those folders, how could they be removed from the external?
Now, I am pretty sure I can rebuild what is left in the Time Machine backup from the iPhoto app, but I'm not sure if it will back up.
I did see inside her Pictures directory an iPhoto Library_backup copy icon AND a directory titled iPhoto Library_backup.
INSIDE the directory I can open it up and see a directory titled "before restore" and in there are two databases. iPhotoAux.db and iPhotoMain.db. Would either or both of these be what I need to use to restore old things back on her drive?
I found those inside the iPhoto app where it says "import" and that directory was the only thing highlighted as something I can restore. It shouldn't duplicate images should it? I would expect it to skip duplicates.
I'm at a loss. We both saw all those images in the external and now they're gone.

OSX 10.9.5

There is no way not to spend money. Prosoft Data Rescue offers a demo. You might be able to try one of the other tools as well.
Partitioning actually does wipe the data pretty well, so while it may be there, it may be very hard to get at it.
Never partition a drive that has the only copy of data you need. Always backup first.

I am creating tear sheets and I was saving them as different size PDS via the File/Export/pdf/best
If I use images from my iPhoto library, added through the media browser the "Best" PDF is between 10 and 20MB, as I would expect.
If I replace the images from my Aperture Library the exported PDF at best settings is only 800K.
On the Aperture discussion they suggested changing the preview size that gets exported to iWork. That advice makes perfect sense but it has no effect on the PDF in Pages. I still cant get it to save at over 800K
Is there something in pages that i need to change?

Image grays over during adjustment

Sometimes when I am in the adjustments tab in Viewer Only mode, the image I am working on will "Gray Over"
Interestingly enough, the histogram changes to represent this as an effect on the image. After some more adjustments, it will go away.
I have no idea what causes this, or what it means, or if it's just a bug.
I took a screen shot of the effect, but don't have a way to post it here. If you know how I can post it, please let know.

Well, after a little messing about, the image is no longer grayed out, and I can't gat it back. I believe the badge you were referring to indicates that I've made adjustments, which I did. I had made adjustments under exposure and white balance. I had also made adjustments to the contrast slider, but then brought it back to 0. Interesting that it shows -0.00.
Anyway, now I can't make it do it.

Images scrolling over header...

On my website, my images are scrolling over the header. I've tried to put the images on different layers, but that didn't work. I also tried to right click to arrange the different images. Here's what I am talking about: http://bmediac.com/

It looks like your header content is on your Master Page.
What I like to do is create a layer specifically for your header item & only have your header item (things you want on top of everything else) in that layer. Then create a new layer for your content. Make sure your content layer is below your header layer.
For all your content in your regular pages, be sure to put them into your content layer.
Try that and see if that works for you.

Image processing over wireless

Hi,
One of our subsidaries has a setup where continuous video stream is generated from certain application servers processing real time image processing.
The setup goes this way; 3 PC's which run these image processing & are connected to a 3750G switch.
This switch is uplinked to an access point which then carries all these over wireless to the image processing main server.
About two weeks ago, when they tested this ,all 3 PC's had issues running together when operators viewed/worked upon the images on them.
When either one or two of them is turned off, the rest works fine with no disturbance( intermediate stop & start of images ).
Please help with suggestions on what could be the cause. I suspect bandwidth, but since this doesn't cover any WAN links, i doubt that bandwidth is actually the problem.

It depends. QoS will help if your having congestion on the wired side. WMM QoS will help for over the air. I would look at the switch port and see if you see drops on both the map and rap side. You might just be over utilizing the backhaul. Remember that it is half duplex link so that can be an issue also. I had an install with regular AP's and 3gb video uploads within 30 minutes and the only way to achieve that is only allowing 4-5 clients per AP. the testing you have done seems to show that the max you can do over that link is 2. How much other traffic is using the wireless. Maybe try to isolate those traffic on a separate RAP/MAP pair using AP Groups.
