thank you very much

Ken:
I used the scanning software that came with my Epson V700.  Once the image was scanned, I imported the picture to Elements via the "get photos and videos" under the Photoshop Elements File tab.  For lower resolution images, I have no problem editing them.  It's the high resolution image that I cannot see the picture or edit.  John

  • Image size for playbook wallpaper

    What is the image size supposed to be for the wallpapers on the playbook?
    I have been tinkering with wallpapers, and read where the image needs to be 1024x600.  I have tried files of this size and the playbook cuts off the edges.
    I have ended up creating images that are originally 1024x600 and then just expanding the canvas to 1300x1300 to get the image to look correctly.  And these only work in landscape.  It is a whole different ball game in portrait,
    I was able to get 1 image to work both landscape and potrait, but that was a simple circular logo originally scaled to 1024x600, then the canvas opened to 1250x1250.  That one worked descently.
    Also, an idea for RIM, allow different wallpapers in landscape and potrait.  This way we can have an image that sits like we want it so we can see what we want.  Just an idea.  Thank you.

  • How to resize layer in percentage relative to image size?

    Hi,
    Say I have an image that is 100x100 pixles. And I want to take one of the layers and resize it to 50% of the image size, so that it is 50 pixles. How can I accomplish that?
    The reason I ask, is that have multiple images all with different size. But I have a signature (ie. watermark) that is always the same size. I want to be able to place this signature, and then resize it to XX% of the image it was placed on. That way, it should always have the same proportions.
    Thanks in advance!

    You can scale by percentage of the original layer size going to Edit > Transform > Scale. In the transform options menu, there is an option to scale by percentage - just make sure that you click on the link icon between the Height and Width fields to maintain the aspect ratio of your layer.
    However, if you wanted to scale a layer relative to the canvas size, I think you would need to do some scripting or use actions... you might want to ask around on the Photoshop General Discussion or Photoshop Scripting forums to see if anyone has a solution.

  • 10.9.3 finder cover flow doesn't save image size

    I went from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks 10.9.3. Everything went ok, but I have one annoying problem though.
    Everytime I open a cover flow window in Finder I have to resize the image preview section. The Finder window size is saved,
    but not the actual image size of the cover flow. It always goes back to a default, very small, size everytime I reopen the Finder window.
    Didn't have this problem in Snow Leopard. It worked great. I just know one other person with the same problem. He just bought his MacBook Pro with Mavericks
    and I am on a late 09 MacBook. So it shouldn't be a problem with just my Mac and Mavericks.
    So my question is;
    Will there be any solution to this soon? Maybe a program update to be released, regarding this issue?
    Thank you for any feedback!

    Ok, more information for anyone that might care. The wake-up seems to be the familiar dark wake in order to go into hibernate mode. Except now, it's a death wake. Looking at the logs, I see that it happens exactly 70 minutes after sleeping, even though hibernatemode = 0 (which shouldn't hibernate at all!)
    So my power settings look like this:
    Currently in use:
    standbydelay         4200
    standby              1
    halfdim              1
    hibernatefile        /var/vm/sleepimage
    darkwakes            0
    gpuswitch            2
    disksleep            10
    sleep                10
    autopoweroffdelay    14400
    hibernatemode        0
    autopoweroff         1
    ttyskeepawake        1
    displaysleep         2
    acwake               0
    lidwake              1
    standbymode is 70 minutes, what a coincidence. I'm going to try setting it to 0 and see what that does.

  • Image size is not showing correct in Link Information in Illustrator CS3

    Hi Guys,
    I am using Mac OS 10.4.11 and Adobe CS3. I have a problem in Illustrator CS3. Let me explain what is that....
    If I place a link in illustrator which is having PMS colors then some times illustrator is showing wrong image size in Link information panle. Please see the link. That link was already placed 100%. But sill it is showing 24%. Do some one have solution for this. If you have pleas let me know...
    regards
    HARI

    Hi Neeraj
    If I remove clipping path then it is showing 100%. But I did not get one thing, I have another image which is having clipping path and spot colors. If I place that image in Illustrator, Image size is showing 100%. There is no error in that file. So I think, this is not about clipping path, some other reason could be there.... If you want I'll give that image which is having clipping path and spot channels.
    Thanks for the reply....

  • Gallery without XML definition of image size

    Hello,
    In my application, the images are actually created on the
    fly. So knowing the exact dimensions at the time the XML is created
    was a bit troublesome, since some images can be landscape, some can
    be portrait, and they all can have different aspect ratios. So, in
    it's original form, the gallery script didn't work very well for
    me. Last night, I sought out a solution that would not require the
    sizes to be in the XML file. Below is my refactored SetMainImage
    function. Where the original version of this function downloads the
    image after the opacity is reduced, this one starts by loading the
    new image, then uses the Size effect to resize the frame to the new
    image's size.
    Hope this helps somebody else! Spry certainly has helped
    me!!!!!! Thank you Adobe!
    Peace,
    Matt
    function SetMainImage(imgPath, tnID)
    var img = document.getElementById("mainImage");
    if (!img) {
    return;
    CancelBehavior("mainImage");
    Spry.Utils.SelectionManager.clearSelection("thumbnailSelection");
    if (tnID) {
    Spry.Utils.SelectionManager.select("thumbnailSelection",
    document.getElementById(tnID), "selectedThumbnail");
    if (gImageLoader)
    gImageLoader.onload = function() {};
    gImageLoader = null;
    // Use an image loader to make sure we only fade in the new
    image after
    // it is completely loaded.
    gImageLoader = new Image();
    gImageLoader.onload = function()
    gBehaviorsArray["mainImage"] = new Spry.Effect.Opacity(img,
    GetOpacity(img), 0, { duration: 400,
    finish: function()
    gBehaviorsArray["mainImage"] = new
    Spry.Effect.Size(img.parentNode, GetDimensions(img.parentNode), {
    width: gImageLoader.width, height: gImageLoader.height}, {duration:
    400, steps: 10,
    finish: function()
    img.src = gImageLoader.src;
    gImageLoader = null;
    gBehaviorsArray["mainImage"] = new Spry.Effect.Opacity(img,
    0, 1, { duration: 400, steps: 10, finish: function() {
    gBehaviorsArray["mainImage"] = null; }});
    gBehaviorsArray["mainImage"].start();
    } // End finish function for Size call.
    }); // End params for size call
    gBehaviorsArray["mainImage"].start();
    } // End finish function for first Opacity call.
    }); // end parameters for first opacity call
    gBehaviorsArray["mainImage"].start();
    }; // End gImageLoader function
    gImageLoader.src = imgPath;
    }

    Howdy,
    I decided to strip the effects from the thumbnails, so they
    all do show in their original full size. As a portrait
    photographer, my goal with using technology is to help me sell
    prints. Shrinking a portrait orientation photo down to fit in a
    square makes people look short and fat, and even if the large image
    is correct, people don't buy photos that make them look short and
    fat. Plus, it was also important to me to include the filename as a
    caption for the thumbnail. So that is a rather long explanation of
    how I got out of defining the sizes of the thumbnails.
    As for the large images, the code above is a replacement for
    the SetMainImage function in gallery.js. You'll also need to change
    the call to the function in ShowCurrentImage() from:
    SetMainImage("galleries/" +
    dsGalleries.getCurrentRow()["@base"] + "images/" + curRow["@path"],
    curRow["@width"], curRow["@height"], "tn" + curRow["ds_RowID"]);
    to:
    SetMainImage("galleries/" +
    dsGalleries.getCurrentRow()["@base"] + "images/" + curRow["@path"],
    "tn" + curRow["ds_RowID"]);
    Kin--You bring up some really good points. In my case, it
    would be too server intensive to calculate all the image sizes on
    the first load, as my server does not actually create the web
    images until they are requested--then they are stored in a cache on
    the server for future requests. So, I needed to do something that
    would not depend on knowing the size before loading the image.
    I totally understand why you did things the way you did. I
    think I might have to figure out a pre-loading strategy as you
    mention. Or, I may try some of the new spry effects to do something
    a bit different so the user sees some action immediately on click.
    That is probably pretty important, and I have not addressed it yet.
    Anyways, here is the link for my development site. I'll post
    here when it is done, because i'm not close to being done yet. The
    password for now is 'blue'

  • Larger image size and disk performance

    hey all,
    Granted the majority of users here won't experience issues with larger image sizes, but i'm hoping a few may be able to shed some experience.
    I work with a H3D, Mamiya RB (with various Leaf backs) and also drum scanned film. The issue is that often a single image size can be anything from 150mb upto 500mb, this is excluding any post production changes.
    My current aperture library is on a FW800 disk, but disk i/o is crippling the box and program at the moment. I'm looking at the express slot and wondering who here is running a disk off that and what they feel it's like from a performance perspective.
    An example is a recent location shoot which has a handful of images above 500mb each. Aperture takes around 10-15 mins to startup when this folder is selected (constantly processing the image every time it starts) and this leads to a totally unresponsive OS.
    How are you handling large files with Aperture?
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    On the Quad I process 250Mb+ TIF scans, not often, but often enough. External drives 7200rpm in a Sonnet 500P encl. attached to eSATA muliport card (Sonnet E2P). Performance is equal to internal so far as I can judge.
    I recall the PCMCIA then PC Card bus speed was horrendously slow. Not sure what the Expresscard bus speed is, but it would be a crying shame to attach 300Gb/s burst capable drives (or RAID 5 driving 200Mb+ continuous) to a backend bus capable of a few Mb.
    As Alan notes, a MBP may be OK for field work and tethered shooting, but for the image sizes you have, the preferred solution would be a Mac Pro.

  • Image Size pop up menu missing in Mac Mail

    Hi all,
    I've just noticed a very frustrating problem with my mac mail which seems to have started recently, for no apparent reason. I have made no updates to my mac mail at all.
    Basically when I attach and image to a new email, there used to be a pop up menu appear in the bottom right of the window where you can select the size of the image - small, medium, large or actual size.
    This has randomly disappeared!
    I cannot find any settings in the preferences for it to reappear. I have made no changes that would have caused this - at least not knowingly.
    Any ideas as to how I can get the image size pop up menu to reappear when I am attaching images to a new email?

    Well, it seems I have solved the problem. After searching all afternoon for a solution i thought i'd try the last thing on the list - quit mac mail and re open.
    It worked!
    The Image Size pop up menu now appears again when images are attached to the email.
    Despite this, id still like to know what I did to remove it.
    Any idea?

  • PictureLibrarySlideshowWebPart - Change image size to original size

    Hi,
    I'm using the PictureLibrarySlideshow Web part as image slider in the banner of a SharePoint website. Apparently this web part changes the image size so it is smaller than its original size.
    Is there a simple solution to solve this and resize the image? I found some Jquery solutions but they did not fix the problem.
    Thanks!

    Hi
    Ward010 ,
    In Slideshow web part, picture is initialized with field value that contains the Url of  Web image (EncodedAbsWebImgUrl  field). Unfortunately it is not supported to configure in web part what image
    type (original, web or thumbnail) should be displayed in Slideshow The solution that demonstrated below allows to display original images instead of web images in Slideshow web part.
    In order to specify original images, method overriding for picture initialization is used:
    function SlideshowObjectInitializer() {
      ShowPic = (function(ShowPicOrig) {
          return function() {
               var ssObj = arguments[0];  //SlideShow object
               var curPicIdx=ssObj.index; //current picture index
               ShowPicOrig.apply(this, arguments); //call original ShowPic
               //apply some changes to display original picture in SlideShow control
               ssObj.image.src = ssObj.linkArray[curPicIdx]; //display original image instead of web image
               //change picture & container size to auto instead of fixed (by default web image size is used)
               ssObj.image.setAttribute('height','100%');
                   ssObj.image.setAttribute('width','100%');
                   var cell = ssObj.cell;
                   cell.style.width = 'auto';
                   cell.style.height = 'auto';
                   cell.style.display = '';
                   var pcell = ssObj.cell.parentNode;
               pcell.style.width = 'auto';
                   pcell.style.height = 'auto';
      })(ShowPic);
    ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(SlideshowObjectInitializer, 'imglib.js');
    Save      JavaScript code to the file, for example in SlideshowObjectInitializer.txt      and upload it to SiteAssets Library
    Add      CEWP on page where Slideshow web part is located and in the Content Editor      tool pane, under Content Link property,
    type /SiteAssets/SlideshowObjectInitializer.txt

  • Question on Blu ray image size output and reducing the size

    Hi
    I have been using encore for blu ray projects which is been proving very helpful. However recently i have had a issue with output size on files. Normally Encore gives me it's estimate that it will fill the disc nicely and provides a image/folder which is about 17-20GB (using 25GB disc) but now out of the blue it's files sizes it outputs has been 24.8GB which technically is less than 25GB but as anyone knows who burns to media, the disc doesn't actually have 25GB of space (something like 23,8 or something, i can't remember without checking). Anyway of course this is a issue because my output size is contantly now coming up to be about 600MB - 1GB over the disc actual size, i figured Encore normally compresses files to fit considering i have burned similar amounts/size media before and never had a issue.
    Anyway my issue is the slightly larger file size, i figured the easiest way to reduce the blu ray output size was to of course play with the transcode settings, which usually are set to the default settings for Blu ray (the quality preset is called something like "1280x720p 50 High Quality MPEG-2") so of course i thought to lower the bitrate a little just for a test, so i did just that and cut the default bit rate from 25[Mbs] to 20, i didn't want to lower it too much as it was a test to see what i could save for file size. Anyway so i re-transcoded the file and built another image, sadly the image size oddly enough came out as 26.something GB... so it actually grew in size by reducing the file bitrate which put me at a loss. I was wondering what common ways i could use to lower this file size just by a few hundred MB or up to 1GB in this case without having to remove content from the disc (it would be a waste to not only seperate the content but to use a whole disc for a leftover 600mb-1gb project). I of course want to keep quality as high as possible but i understand when trying to reduce size quality has to normally be hit in these situations so i can deal with a slight loss of quality. I have been browsing the forums here and though some topics seem similar they have the issue of file sizes coming out as 40GB+.
    Now im no genius with Encore, normally as said the file size is always between 17-20GB as i figure encore was using a "fit to disc" type feature but because the output size is technically below 25gb but not actually below enough to burn i was wondering 2 things:
    1) is it possible to make encore it's self shrink these files a little more, lowering the target size down by 1GB would do wonders but only option i have seen is to have a 25GB disc or DL disc with no option to customize the output size (forcefully lowering it by 1GB).
    2) because i imagine the above can't be done i was wondering how to go about reducing the size by around 1GB or so, i don't need like 10GB freeing up so it's only a small amount, as said this is a issue i have had with the last few projects i made and the size varies from needing 600MB - 1GB (it doesn't usually exceed needing 1GB free space... besides when i lowered the bit rate which increased size a lot). In the past i always just cut the bitrate of files down a little (never by lots but enough to free space up) but clearly that failed my test so im at a loss of how to reduce file size without a huge loss in quality.
    For the record i have already produced the file as both a image file and a folder and both have the same issue.
    Extra info on the project:
    It contains 4 Menu's, 13 video files which vary in lengh from short ones at about 5mintues to longer ones which the largest is about 20minutes. I commonly burn this number of video files/space with fine quality and no issue so i would rather not take files from the project.
    quality preset details are defaultly as said above set to "1280x720p 50 High quality MPEG-2" settings, i am not on my computer with encore at the moment so i can't post full specifics right now but if you have encore handy you should be able to check.
    Tried reducing bit rate but that increased overall size, the actual plan was to hopefully lower the bit rate to around 21 [mbs] (from 25) and then do that for multiple (or all) files until it fitted but after it increased the size i lost hope there, it said the estimated file size (on the individual video) would drop by around 300-400mb  but that didn't work.
    I have tried both folder and iso which always come out the same size.
    Basically my main question/problem is any suggestion to drop the file size by up to 1GB without taking items out the project or a real high loss in quality (i don't mind small loss though as i can apply whatever solution to all files which should help).
    Any suggestions what i can try? as you probably gather im not a genius when it comes to this stuff but i tried including what i thought is relevent.

    Hi and thank you for the reply;
    one problem i seem to be having when reducing the bitrate is the file size is oddly increasing from 24.8GB to 26.4GB, i can't really figure this one out as well it's having the oppisite effect. I checked the "streams" folder on output and decided to compare automatic transcoding to manual lowered bitrate and im not too sure where the increased file size is going, i found which video file it was causing the issue, all videos files range or average around 1.6GB each but one file was taking 4.5GB, after lowering that files bitrate it cut it down to 2GB which was of course saving me 2GB from the old file but the overall size had increased which was odd. Seems the other files are all the same so it hasn't tried improving them (so it seems) so i can't make ends of why the size is increasing.
    I will try playing with the source file to see if i can do anything that way, if not i will try transcoding in premiere (i have had troubles with this before so i try to avoid it).
    Oh and yes i was using Automatic.
    Anyway i will see if editing the file outside might help first and see how that works. Thanks again for the reply.

  • Enlarge the image size pre CS

    Hello all,
    I would like to enlarge the image size in pre CS, Photoshop 7 to be exact with out streactching the image.
    Is this possible?
    I know I can create another document with the image size that I want, drag my folders over, and this would be one solution, yet I have a lot of layers.
    Curious if there was an easier way of doing this??
    Thanks!!

    Joslin thanks for the response.
    I think I left some information out though.
    I would like to enlarge the actual image size of the document, yet keep everything within the document as the same size..
    Is there an easy way to do this with out cutting and pasting images within the document??
    I am not following you.
    Do you mean enlarge the Canvas size, thus leaving a border round the original?
    When I said "specifics", I meant you to give the actual dimensions and resolution* of the original image and dimensions of the desired result.

  • New Image Size and Resolution in CC

    Hi there.
    Ok, maybe i'm missing something, but how do i reduce the ppi's of a given image in the Photoshop CC? Changing it in the image size, in the Resolution field, it acomplish nothing. It logs an entry in the History panel, but nothing changes in the picture. Did Adobe changed how this works, or it's just a bug?
    Thank you.

    Try setting to real-world measurement, like inches or cm.
    Hi Charles, i think that change in cm/mm/in it's the only way to change the image ppi (in my case save/resample it to 108ppi). Can you confirm that this is correct?
    Anyway when i go to image size (new panel of CC) the w/h are:
    1) grey and always set in pixel with resample flagged.
    2) always set in inches with resample NON-flagged (also if my ruler unit is in Pixel).
    (and actually that is not new behavior. CS6 behaved same way when width and height were set to percent)
    In CS6 and CC i never seen w/h in percent  - where is my error?
    Many thanks!
