Images with high dpi

Hi,
I have an aplication that works like a image bank.
It´s displaying images with 72 dpi perfectly, but do not show images with 300 dpi.
There is a limitation in image field type? Can it be adjusted?
The image is being loaded with read_image_file.
Thanks.

Hello,
Image quality cannot be greater than what your screen can do. At this very moment, I'm not sure that any screen is capable of displaying 300 dpi images.

  • Import image with 72 DPI in adode AIR application? which will not reduce quality of image?

impoart image with 72 DPI in adode AIR application?  right now in Windows applicaion, i am importing image with 96 DPI.
In Our Application,we want that image which we will importing, it  won't  be low quality. It will be best Quality image. How can we achive this in our Application.
Please suggest some solution which will be great for me
    Thanks,
    Sunil

    Hi Paul and aktell,
My application having import image for use in Photo Album so when we import file in Adobe AIR application
we had code for create three folder 1) Low Resolution - This folder image used in Thumbnail view(imaze size 300 X 150)
                2) Mid Resolution - This folder image used in slideshow and it's image size is 1000 X 600
3)High Resolution - This folder image used in report generation  and its image size is original as user import from original source.
My  main issue is make only one folder which having best quality image ,without pixalated when we used in big container which having 1200 X1200 size and showing image with best quality and also it will not big size so if user import 500 hunderd images which cannot degrade performance of application.
    Thanks

  • Pixelated images (with High Quality Display turned on)

Here's my problem: The images look sharp on the internet, but when I download them, place them in Indesign and print them, the look pixelated!
Take this one for example: http://media.smashingmagazine.com/images/typefaces/productus.gif
It's resolution is 72 ppi. But when I place it onto the Indesign A4 page (or Letter format for that matter) it occupys almost entire width of the page.
Why is it so? Why is it so big by default without enlarging it? It's kinda logic that a small 72 ppi image stretched across the whole page will appear blurry when printed on 300 dpi printer.
So how can I set the indesign page to 300 ppi/dpi so images with lower restion will appear smaller when placed on the page and - will be printed sharp?

Where can you specify this preference?
And you mean there's a script for InDesign? Wow, it would be cool to get it. So far I solved that problem by recording an Action in Photoshop and than apply it to all the images using Batch command.
Preference is down at the bottom of the File Handling section ...  Check the bos to preserve dimensions and a the relinked file will be scaled back to the same size in ID. Uncheck, and the scale percentage will be preserved.
Almost anything is scriptable in ID (but I don't write them). I recall a script that was posted a year or two ago that would allow you to select an image and type a desired effective resolution into a dialog. The image would get scaled to reach that effective ppi. Your batch action in Photoshop is fine, and useful if you want to palce everything at 100%, but it isn't required to change the resolution in Photshop to achieve what you want. Scaling in ID is exactly the same thing as changing the resolution without resampling in Photoshop. No pixels are added, removed or altered -- only their dispalyed size is changed. If you want a script to set all images to 300 ppi effective resolution, you should probably pay a visit to the scripting forum.

  • Intermittent bug in Touchpad One-Finger Scrolling with High-DPI display scaling

This one is quite strange (since it does not happen all the time) but very annoying - on my T420s (with 1600x900 screen) I am using 150% DPI scaling in Windows7 (Pro x64). Ultranav driver is 16.2.5.0.
I am using the preinstalled Chrome browser in a rather default configuration - and by default that program declares itself not High-DPI-aware and gets scaled up by desktop composition - something that can be changed in the properties from the compatibility tab, but which I keep like that since there are sites that look better this way!
Long story short - touchpad scrolling fails to work in more than 50% of the cases in that specific Chrome setup in a way that strongly suggests it is a bug where the touchpad scrolling program fails to account for the fact that Chrome runs "scaled-up" - if Chrome is maximized and the mouse is positioned in the top half AND left-half of the screen scrolling works as expected, HOWEVER when the mouse pointer is positioned (still 100% over the Chrome window) towards the right/bottom extremes scrolling fails and the Ultranav driver seems to send the scrolling messages to some other window than Chrome! (since it seems to fail to take into account the 150% scaling - so it gets wrong values with GetWindowRect and should probably use instead stuff like DwmGetWindowAttribute(hWnd, DWMWA_EXTENDED_FRAME_BOUNDS...))!
    Steps to repeat the bug:
    - Windows 7 machine, large-resolution screen with Custom DPI text size set to 150% and the older XP-style scaling disable (which enables the new DWM scaling)
    - Chrome browser in default mode (which will use scaling); to repeat things easily the window should be maximized and the URL should be set to some long page on which scrolling can be performed
    - scrolling should be enabled in Touchpad settings (I do not normally use ChiraMotion, but I do not think it makes a difference)
    - mouse pointer should be positioned in the right-most 10% of the window and Touchpad One-Finger Scrolling should be attempted;
    - in many/most cases the scrolling messages are sent to some other window beneath Chrome (but NOT always, so it seems there might be another factor in play)
    - it is interesting that the different TrackPoint scrolling seems to work even in those conditions.

You won't get a response from Adobe in these user-to-user forums but you will be heard if you post your frustration via the official bug report form:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Don't expect a formal personal reply though.

  • Action to: Print current document to PDF Printer "As Image" with Specified DPI

I FREQUENTLY do the following task on documents.  I would LOVE to have an action that did it for me.  Can someone help me create one or point me to someone who can?
Version: Adobe Acrobat X Pro.  Windows 7 64-bit
    With current PDF file open:
    2) Print
    3) Select PDF Printer
    4) (Under advanced printer settings) choose "Print as Image", "150" DPI.
    5) OK
    6) Save file AS the original with _printed appended to the filename.
    Image1: Printer dialogue box
Image 2: After selecting the PDF Printer and pressing "Advanced"

The forum added some nice links and i found my answer here http://forums.adobe.com/message/1179199#1179199 - changed the registry key permissions and it's working like a charm. Thank you.

  • Best way to insert a table into image with high resolution for web?

I've tried inserting a table from Excel into Photoshop and making a jpeg and gif out of it, but when I upload it to the web the resolution is terrible.
Any ideas on how I can make get a table into an image? It's a bit too complex to create with HTML.

Well, you are leaving out a lot of info.
a: how are you saving it in Photoshop? What file type/compression amount, etc.
b: how are you uplaoding it - where are you uploading it - are you uploading JUST the image, or are you uploading the image within an .html document?
One thought, if you are JUST uploading it as an image, then trying to view it in a browser, if the image is larger than the viewport of the browser, some browsers will automatically rezie the image to fit visually into the viewport. More than likely, this resizing could be causing image distortion. Imagine it like when you zoom in/out in Photoshop - (unless you are using the accelerated graphic gui option in PS preferences), any zoom level outside of 25%, 50%, or 100% will cause visual distortion.
Give a link to where you have uploaded the image (or whatever you are talking about). Like I said, there are other things to consider as to why this is happening.

  • Music player with high dpi support?

I usually use Clementine as music player. Unfortunately, it does not have any hidpi support (3200x1800 resolution on a 13.3'' display). So do you know any good music player with hidpi support?

You could use MPD and either a terminal client, Qt5 client (Cantata), or a web client.
I just looked at the Arch Linux wiki page for HiDPI. The state of HiDPI in Linux is kind of a mess, isn't it.

  • Why is color management enabled (all, not just tagged) firefox showing images with higher black level than other color managed programs?

Using Win 7 and spyder calibrated (lut based) display. image editing programs show lower black level than firefox. Firefox images are too light.

  • Make Skype work properly with Windows DPI scaling for high resolution displays

Hello, As of now, Skype does not work well with Windows DPI scaling. Everything looks fuzzy (fonts, icons, etc).Microsoft's recommendation is to turn off the DPI scaling ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2900023 ) but in this case, the text is too tiny to be read. Basically everyone with a high resolution display is stuck with either tiny of fuzzy fonts, making Skype unusable. It's really a pity because other Microsoft programs such as Office work perfectly with Windows DPI scaling, and Skype also looks great on Mac with Retina display. With high DPI displays becoming more and more common, this is a must have feature. Thanks for reading!

As you can see Skype is really broken on HDPI displays and the issue is still being ignored/unacknowledged by Skype devs.

  • DataMerge output to PDF then high dpi conversion to TIFF

I am new to InDesign and have successfully created an output through InDesigns DataMerge feature which converts the final output to PDF.
Is there anyway to change this to TIFF with high DPI (4000) or a process to convert the PDF to TIFF with similar output. The PDF file only contains text.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Export to PDF and then batch convert them in Photoshop. Very easy to do with a Photoshop action and Bridge.

  • Support for High-DPI screens Windows

This was posted two months ago by someone else, but I feel that it is too important to be ignored. I have a QHD resolution Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop, and I use Spotify almost constantly. However, I almost never use the desktop app; with DPI scaling, the scaling is fine, but the resolution is horrrible. With my display, I would hope for 1080p resolution (at least), but apparently it will never happen. My question is: is it possible for the Spotify developers to create a Windows program with high DPI support? Or maybe a Windows 8 app? Pretty please?

    Hi there,
I guess you are talking about this idea, I do agree that this idea is very important.
As soon as an idea reaches 100 kudos it will reach the spotify team and they will change the status. To learn more about the processing of ideas read this post "How your feedback reaches Spotify"
If would suggest to add your kudos and support in that idea, and keep sharing it on sites like Facebook, Twitter...

  • Can I make an image display instead of flash slideshow on explorer with high security?

I am a total flash beginner.  I created a simple flash slideshow that I want to appear on my website.  It works fine in firefox., but when viewed in explorer with high security, nothing displays unless the viewer specifically allows it. The slideshow is very prominent, and the site looks very bad when only an x shows up.   Is it possible to have a static image display in place of the slideshow, and then have the slideshow start if the viewer allows it? Is there any other way to get around this?
    Thank you for any assistance.

Have you tested it with IE online or only locally?  Locally IE will usually prohibit displaying Flash content.

  • Your tip in Printing in Indesign--working with high quality images

    Hi everyone,
I am very curious about what the other professionals' idea about printing and using Indesign to print.
I am working on a project that with high resolutions of model and product images together.
Since I had to move elements on the layout. Model and product images are in different layers in Indesign.
I used Indesign to combine those images together to create ads for magazine.
However, I was told  that it would be "SAFER" to combine those images together FRIST in photoshop.
he thinks the process should be that:
---Having a flated image of model and products in photoshop first
----then bring that one image in Indesign.
----This way it would insure the color will be right.
    What do you guys think?
The places I worked in the past, has not done stuff like that.
I feel like ...colors aren't something we could control when magazine uses their own printing vendor.
What is your process to ensure the color is right when priting a combination of different high resolution tiff files?
Thank you very much for your time and knowleage.
    Lori

Assuming you have some sort of color management in place, I would continue to do it the way you are.
But let's say you did want to follow this fellow's advice. Here's everything I can think of.
Putting the models and products together on one Photoshop "page" can wind up making the PSD file very big as there may be spaces between the models and products.
Never, ever flatten that Photoshop file. There's no need and makes a very complicated workflow if you have to make any changes.
You're right about the magazine printing process taking over color.
What are you sending the magazine? A PDF? There's totally no need to flatten in Photoshop then.
The art is flattened in it's own way.
I'm also assuming that your prducts and models are close to each other
