IMessage won't slide ON.  iOS 8.2.1 update issue

I updated my iPhone 6 to 8.2.1 yesterday and I noticed all day that my messages were stuck in the send receive mode. So, I checked by MESSAGES in my settings and noticed that my iMessage slider was OFF.  I tried to slide it ON and it just slides back to the OFF position.  I also noticed that when I click on MESSAGES, it stalls for 60 seconds before opening the window.  HELP!

Hello MSchirmerSF,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I gather that since you updated to iOS 8.2 you are unable to turn on iMessage.  To start troubleshooting this issue I'd like you to please force close the Settings app and the Messages app.  Follow that up by resetting the iPhone.  If the issue persists, then I'd like you to reinstall iOS.
To start troubleshooting this issue, please go ahead and first force close all of the apps currently running on the device, and then reset it by following the steps in the articles below.
iOS: Force an app to close
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue still persists where you're unable to enable iMessage, please reinstall iOS by following these steps.
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

I recently bought an iPod Touch from the US, when I was living there. I am now in India, and my iPod seems to be frozen -- the slider won't slide. So far, I've updated my iTunes and reset and restored the Touch. The problem with the simple solution: there's no Genius bar in India.
Any idea what I can do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipad 2 won't charge after ios 7.0.3 update

After the ios 7.0.3 update, I had to restore my ipad2. Now, it won't charge. I have tried different plugs and outlets. I have also reset it and restored it, again. Nothing worked. Has anyone had this problem and any luck fixing it?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Have tried resetting network, signing out of itunes, resetting phone and nothing has worked. No problems or error message with update.

Plug your phone into the charger that came with it that plugs into your wall, then reset the phone by holding the power and the home buttons until it turns off. Then turn it back on and see how it works.

  • IPhone 6 iOS 8.1.2 Update Issues

I've updated my iPhone 6's iOS just right after Apple released its iOS 8.1.2. After the update, I've experienced issues on my iPhone, specifically the following:
    1. Battery issue - My battery has been terrible since the update. I now charge my phone three times a day though my activities are all plain social media, e-mail and SMS. I usually turn my LTE off when I dont use it and most of time, I use wifi. I used to charge my phone only once and it would last a day.
    2. Screen brightness - Ive noticed that my screen adjusts by itself even my auto-brightness option is off. Ive never turned it on to save battery.
    3. App Updates - Ive experienced several times that when I update an app, it won't complete the update and when I check back the status, it restarts. It will go that cycle around 3 times then will complete the update.
    Has anyone experienced the same?

    Thanks bud!
I just got into bigger trouble. Ive restored my phone back to factory settings. Twas successful. I went through the normal iOS setup and restored my back up. I need to say though that during the setup, I was successful to set my touch ID and my passcode (entered my passcode twice). Then.. the twist was that when I went back to Settings after few minutes to add more fingerprints, my phone is prompting me that Ive entered an incorrect passcode, which blocked me from using it! Really really sad!
This is a different issue now. But would you know how to fix this?
I tried the recovery mode.. Restore thru iTunes.. but none of them worked. Also, now trying the DFU..
I turned off my find my iphone via my phone (before it locked out). Got an email too that my device has disabled find my iphone. And then when I plug my iphone to my mac, itunes would say I cant restore because i should disable find my iphone... So, I looked at my icloud account via the internet and indeed, my iphone was not in the devices list anymore.
    Someone help?

  • IOS 7.0.4 update issues.

    Hi,
After i updated my IPHONE 5 to IOS 7.0.4 i notice that i cant open my photos icon, it opens but then it close out right away, the only way around is i have to open up the camara than view my photos from there.  I also notices that some games wont load too as well.  For example:  i open up a game than it just black out and than the OS freezes and i cant do anything.  after like 3 mins the OS restarts and my Iphone 5 restarts it self.  From time to time my phone would freeze and restarts itself.  Anyone experience this problem?    I never have this issue before 7.0.4 update.
    Thanks

Quit the Photod app like I describe then reset your iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • IOS 5.0.1 update issues!!!

has anyone else just updated to iOS 5.0.1 and led to iTunes wiping the whole phone, not backing up any music and then forcing it into restore mode losing all music? Nor did the so called 'over-the-air' update work either. Bearing in mind this is a brand new iPhone 4S, i'm not amused!!

Me too. The OTA update was going along and then when I checked back later, I had the connect to iTunes screen. iTunes said I had to restore, (which took two attempts to finally work) and then had to sync back all my apps, etc. At least my last backup was only 2 weeks ago. Three words in IT, backup, backup, backup. Seems the phone is working ok now.
Hopefully, Apple can duplicate and address. It really makes updating a pain when it takes an hour or two just to update the iOS with a patch. The next time I'll probably wait for a more important update, make sure I have a current backup and plently of time to watch the grey bar march.
I have an iPhone 4. The update to 5 went smooth so I wonder if the OTA had anything to do with it.
My iPad 2 update to 5 and even 5.0.1 OTA went smooth, whew.

  • IOS 7 App Store Updates - Issue?

    Hi-
I recently updated to iOS 7 and have noticed what I think is a bug with App Store.  Occassionally when I unlock my iPhone (iPhone 5, if that matters) I see that the App Store badge has 1 or 2 updates available.  However when I open the App Store, there are no updates and in fact I see updates that I downloaded and installed on September 19th.  I've set the App Store to not install updates automatically.
This seems like a bug...has anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks!

Resurrecting old thread, but I'm having the same problem on multiple devices.
More specifically, I am updating apps via cable sync from desktop Itunes. The apps are updated on the devices via the cable sync, but the counter stays there. As noted in the original post, when I open app store app on device, the apps needing update will first show Update next to them, then quickly change to Open, but the counter remains.
    Iphone 6, iOS 8.1.2
    Ipad 2 iOS 8.1.2
    Iphone 5 iOS 8.1.2
I called Apple service (my iPhone 6 is still under warranty), they had no clue what was happening. All they did was told me to call them back another day and gave me a case ID.
I have rebooted devices and restored them both as new and from backup. When the restore is done, the counter goes away, but then when a new app needs updating, it happens again.
Anyobody having this issue recently and fixed it? It's very annoying.

  • New iOS 6.1.2 update issues

When I downloaded new iOS 6.1.2 I now have no speaker, no ringtone, unable to listen to music w/out headphones. Has anyone had this problem/or solution?

So good news...I went to the Apple Store today and  2 hours later walked out with a new 4s at no cost to me.
My phone was 42 days outside of warranty, but they acknowledged that the phone is faulty... i.e. worked perfectly until 10 days ago before I installed iOS 6.1.2.  Therefore, on a case by case basis they agreed to provide a new phone.
I had previously done a reset, restart and restore last week and tried everything anyone had mentioned on these forums to fix my phone myself over the previous 10 days. It worked on and off, but the problems persisted.
The first step Apple did was to hard reset, then check it, and again no sounds.  They then said it was the speaker, so replaced that - still no sound.....then after waiting patiently for an hour the Manager agreed to replace the phone for me.  I guess I got lucky.
While there is no definite answer as to whether it's a hardware or software issue, obviously they have acknowledged a problem and given me a great solution.
Finally, I have re-installed everything and it seems to be working fine.
Good luck everyone, I hope you get a good outcome too.

  • IOS 7.1.2 Update issues

    Hello,
Do you know how to revert to previous version or how to address issues with latest update of iOS from July 2014?
It keeps throwing me out of Facebook when trying to open comments on some pictures or albums as well us my all third party lightning cables stopped to work now. I am well disappointed with it.

You cannot remove the update. If the apps are not working, then try force closing all of the apps. Double-tap the home button and swipe upwards on the thumbnail of the apps listed. Then you can perform a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone should reboot. If this does not help, then the next step is to restore from a backup. If that does not help, the next step is to restore the device as new, not from a backup. If the device is still not functioning correctly, the final step is to make an appointment with the Genius Bar. However, as you say, she is in Germany which would not help, unless the device was purchased in an EU country. You do not indicate where the device was purchased, so hard to tell. To answer the other question, the only way to restore and not lose data is to perform a backup first, then restore from the backup. If that does not work, as I stated earlier, you would have to restore as new, which would delete all of the data on the phone.
