IMovie '08 on my mac mini '07 drops audio levels at ends of clips no matter what I do to stop it!

In some but not all of the clips in my project, the audio level drops down for the last half second or so. I have tried every effing audio setting including setting fade to 0 seconds manual, normalizing, not normalizing, and every combination I can think of, but it's just not working.
When I google this problem, I find a few unanswered questions going back to imovie 2 in 2003, but no solutions short of remove the auto fade and set manual to zero, which again, isn't working for me. It really ***** to spend a whole afternoon working on a project to have it corrupted beyond repair. Anybody have any ideas of how to fix this, short of getting adobe premiere and/or a newer mac or even, a windows machine?

Ok, here's another set of step-by-step instructions for configuring an extended network. Please give them a try to be sure you didn't miss anything.
Dynamic WDS - Extending a Wireless Network Setup
If practical, place the base stations in near proximity to each other during the setup phase. Once done, move them to their desired locations.
Open AirPort Utility, and then, select the base station that will connect to the Internet.
Choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then, click Wireless.
Choose “Create a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, select the “Allow this network to be extended” checkbox.
Next, select the base station that will extend this network, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Choose “Extend a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, choose the network you want to extend from the Network Name pop-up menu.
Enter the base station network and base station password if necessary.
Click Update to update the base station with new network settings.

Apple TV mirroring issues even with Mac mini, airport extreme bought at the end of last year, and an iPad 2

I have the same issue with ATV3 and iPhone 4S. Everything works properly, no buffering issues when watching netflix, vimeo, youtube BUT when I try mirroring even a small 15sec iPhone movie it stutters and buffers and results to a choppy playback..same with larger mp4 files such as 1-1.5GB, buffers forever and never plays, I just re-encoded the same movie to 700MB and plays perfectly..
Why Apple, why?..so close..I can accept the bigger movie files issue, but not being able to playback properly an iPhone movie is funny..I recorded a movie with lower bitrate through Filmic Pro (Economy mode, up to 16Mbps)
    and plays properly.
Is there an upcoming software update going to solve the problem or is it hardware related and therefore not fixable.
Please don't reply with a network related answer, by 2012 we know how to set up our networks and everything else runs flawlessly.
I'll apreciate a fast answer, we love Apple, but if it can't play an iphone movie (or a high quality movie from iTunes) it's just not up to my standards.
    Thanks again.

  • Does the Mac mini have optical audio in?

    Hello!
I have been looking at a lot of forums that say that the Mac mini has optical audio or "Toslink" out and in if you use this adaptor:
    http://www.amazon.com/Recoton-Fiber-Optic-Toslink-Adapter/dp/B0002MQGRM
I was wondering of this was true. I want to connect my Xbox to the Mac mini so I can monitor the audio coming from it because my display dosen't have speakers.
Please help me clear up the confusion.

  • Is 2012 mac mini good for audio production?

is 2012 mac mini good for audio production. Take in mind that I am a novice, but that really does not matter, I want to get the right product if that is an imac instead than so be it.

It depends on the sort of audio production you'll be doing. If you're going to be working with only stereo content or just a few tracks, in GarageBand for instance, a 2012 Mac mini would probably suffice, though you'll probably want to max out the RAM in the system. If you're going to be working with many tracks simultaneously with effects, EQ, etc on many, for instance with Logic Pro X with a number of plugins going, then a Mac mini probably won't do the job. In that case you'd probably want a top-end iMac or perhaps even a Mac Pro (the new model of which should be released sometime this month).
I'd suggest that you decide on the software you'll want to run, and then ask in forums related to that software what sort of system configuration users are finding to be adequate.
    Regards.

  • Mac Mini has Distorted audio over HDMI

My brand new mid-2010 Mac Mini has distorted audio over HDMI. Ideas? Tried multiple connections, devices, but the Mini's audio flattens and distorts high pitch sounds. Really distracting, makes movie watching impossible. Thinking about returning it.

Update: After a bunch of playing around, it appears that I do, in fact, have audio output. What is missing are the up and down volume chirps. I can do without that.
Now, anyone know how to fix the Logitec webcam's input volume...?

  • My mac mini keeps dropping wifi connectivity

    Hi Folks,
My new Mini keeps dropping wifi connectivity so I lose the connection to Apple TV and even just browsing on Safari seems painful hoping a page will load before losing connectivity. I reset my router, restart the mini and it intermittently keeps happening. Has anyone come up with a workable solution?
    Thanks

Hi Leo, this has worked for a few...
Though all of these steps may or may not be needed, I'm including them all.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
    Click OK.

  • Can't run iMovie 08 on my mac mini

I bought a mac mini OS X 10.4.11 recently (1.42 GHz PowerPC G4, 1GB, Intel processor, PowerMac 10.1, 167 MHz). I tried to load iMovie 08 but couldn't as I need 2GHz or a G5. Is it possible to upgrade this mac mini so I can run iMovie 08? Don't have alot of money to spend on a new Mac, so was hoping to upgrade. If so, how do I do this. Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, there is no practical way to upgrade a 1.42 G4 Mac mini to a specification sufficient to run iMovie 8 since iMovie 8 requires an Intel processor, or a G5 system running at least 1.9GHz.
However, if you have tried to install iLife 08, you can download iMovie HD (the previous version of iMovie) which will install and run on that system. When you try and install the earlier iMovie after installing other iLife 08 components, it should search the system for a qualifying product and find sufficient of the iLife 08 software to install and run.
iMovie HD is a little more complex and sophisticated than iMovie 08, but many users significantly prefer it.
Oops, forgot: the iMovie HD download can be found at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html

  • Mac Mini Network dropping

I have a Mac Mini sharing a Verizon DSL network with an iPhone 6 and an older iPad.   Except for the iPad, the devices are all up on the latest Apple software.  My iOS devices are typically cabled to USB ports when I'm home using my Mini.
It just started happening recently.   After breezing along for a while on my Mac, my internet service will die, frozen progress bar on accessing web pages, Safari NOT crashed, I still have normal Mac functions except for internet.  Often, restarting the DSL router solves the problem.   Also, restarting the computer has solved the problem occasionally.   I've tried networking the Mini wirelessly AND by ethernet, same result.
The only thing that always works is using iPhone's personal hotspot cellular connection to the internet via USB.   But I have to be careful about my data limits.
My first thought was that my carrier's DSL router and service were repeatedly failing.   So far, they're only interested in having me restart my router, and they don't seem to grasp that I'm having to do this 8 times a day
Now I'm wondering if Yosemite on my Mac mini is causing the problem.   I don't see recent posts on this board about networking problems though.

    Hello whsiii,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are being disconnected from the internet. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • My Mac Mini is dropping pixels

I have a 2010 Mac mini That I use for my media centre. It's hooked up via HDMI to a 42" LCD TV and is running the latest version of Mavericks.
The problem is about once a week, I need to restart it because some pixels mostly tool bar and the Dock ones go black.
Is there a fix for this or might it be the Graphics card is dying a slow death?

I have not tried logging out then back in but instead restart it. This seems to fixes it, but it  reoccurs a week or less later and a restart is required to fix it for another week or so.
I am now wondering if it is an issue in Mavericks itself since I've had this Mini since Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion it never did this till Mavericks.
I use it daily and let it sleep over night, rebooting it every 2 weeks or so but now, I reboot it every Saturday (weekly).

  • HT3382 I have an early 2006 Mac Mini and need to connect it to a VGA display.  What connector should I use?

I have an early 2006 intel core solo Mac Mini (locted in India) and need to connect it to a VGA display.  I have looked at the support articles but can't figure out what adapter to use.

There was a DVI to VGA adapter included with the early 2006 mini.  The one that I have looks like this
You should be able to buy one, although it's not currently listed in the US Apple online store.

  • New Mac Mini and TrueHD audio

Has any one know if it's possible to play back uncompressed audio streams from .m2ts streams thru the HDMI connector, or are the Dolby Digital and/or DTS the only streams that can play back thru HDMI?

Apple have only said Dolby DTS works, and PCM works. They have not mentioned TrueHD. However others have said that currently the chips used in the Mac mini do not support sending True HD via the HDMI, even though the HDMI specification obviously allows this.
The conclusion is that we would have to wait for another newer Mac mini model with a better set of chips.
I have seen less to nothing about the possibility of running TrueHD via the Mini Displayport and then an adapter to HDMI. It is the case that the Mini Displayport supports audio on the 2010 Mac mini but it is likely the same chip issue prevents True HD.
This is all very disappointing of course.
For the moment, I am sticking with an Apple TV running XBMC which is far cheaper but still does not support TrueHD.
PS. If the rumours are that the next Apple TV only does 720p are true, then Microsoft will (rightly) be laughing at Apple's feeble efforts.

  • I created two iTunes libraries on my mac mini and would like to merge them into one library. What is the easiest way to do this?

I created two iTunes libraries on my mac mini back in the day. I would like to consolidate them into one iTunes library. What is the easiest method to do this? I do use i-Match to access all my music from  iCloud, if that makes any difference.  Thanks. Mark

Thanks for the reply. When I created the 2 libraries years ago I would hold down the options key and had 2 library names to choose from. Now it just shows a lot of files when I do that, With over 7,000 songs I think I will just look for the few songs from the original library I used to use that still interest me, if they don't show up in my default current library. Thought there would be any easy was to integrate all my music files into one library. I am definitely not going to spend days manually doing this, but thanks again.

  • Mac Mini 2011 HDMI audio in Windows 7 64 bit

    Hello all,
I thought I would share lessons learned from my Boot Camp install on a Mac Mini.
My config:  2011 Mac Mini 2.3, Intel 3000HD video
           .   .       upgrade to 8GB ram
Samsung 8000 series LED TV connected with HDMI
Memorex external BluRay writer(USB only power)
For Windows 7 install, I tried installing with the 64 bit DVD but this failed as documented elsewhere.
Instead, setup with USB drive, follow instructions available in bootcamp
After partitioning drive with boot camp and reboot, install Windows 7 with install wizard.
When asked whether to allow automatic updates say 'no', then complete installation and run boot camp tools for Windows.
Because the network driver gets installed prior to the Intel video driver, Windows will install the Windows Update Intel video driver which breaks HDMI audio.
When auto updates are off, the Intel video driver that is correct gets installed last.  HDMI audio works with this driver.
Apple should install the Intel video driver first and it would solve this problem.
I now have full blown 3D BluRay support on the MacMini with TruHD audio, fantastic!

    UPDATE:
I just discovered a good clue on my problem.
I always use my A/V Receiver to connect HDMI devices.
I tried connecting directly my Samsung TV to the Macbook and Intel (HD) Graphics Audio recognized the TV and a new "Playback Device" appeared in the Windows menu.
So the currently problem is that (just in Windows 7, since in OS X HDMI audio is working with DENON A/V Receiver):
Intel HD 3000 graphics is not detecting <Denon A/V Receiver> as an "HDMI audio-capable device"
My denon A/V receiver ( DENON AVR-1712 ) is sucessfull detected by my netbook with Intel G45 Express Graphics, but not working if i use Intel HD 3000 graphics on my MBA.

  • New Mac Mini sends airplay audio but does not receive it

I just purchased and set up two new Mac Minis with Mountain Lion. Previous to this, using Lion and even Leopard, I could send Airplay audio to any of my desktop machines. Further, my iOS devices could send audio to my Macs running Snow Leopard and Lion. The new machines do not receive airplay audio from anything. They can send to the other devices, but not to themselves. Had I upgraded all of desktop machines to 10.8, I wouldn't be able to send audio anywhere.
    Why is this?

From what I'm reading, airplay is only for streaming to your tv.  I have apple tv and have never been able to stream from one device to another;  only from device to tv.
Can you link to an apple document saying it's supposed to work computer to computer?  Are you sure you weren't using home sharing in itunes?
