Imovie 11 not uploading to youtube

Edit a video in iMovie 11, as I have always done.  Current upload to YOUTUBE continues to lose connection to server.  My internet connection is running correctly.  I have uploaded videos directly to youtube via the site with no problems to test if there was a connection to server issue as well.
I tried to upload video to via the youtube site and it stops uploading around 60%.  Mind you I DID upload this same video 3 days ago after trying 13 times via the youtube site.  I had to take it down because I accidently allowed youtube to do one of the "fixes" to my videdo and it ruined it and I was able to unapply it.
So 3 days later my video will NOT upload via iMovie 11 or directly from the site.
The file is only 312.1 MB and the format is .mov
So not sure why I am having issues.

I think this may be the quickest workaround:
Go to Share Menu > Export Movie... (set it to 720p) and save it to the Desktop
Open the YouTube website in your favorite web browser, login to your account.
Go to the YouTube upload page, and have it upload the video fromo your Desktop
The beauty of this versus the iMovie upload is the status messages are a little more reassuring as it progresses. I always feel like I know how much longer I need to wait. And then at the end it gives you the URL to see the video after it post-processes the whole thing. So publishing direct, will get around this problem.
As for the problem, itself. I've ready many people's posts to the iMovie Discussion group with a similar YouTube upload from iMovie problem. No one to my recollection has written back with a description of a fix for this. Some people couldn't login to YouTube at all through iMovie it wouldn't accept their credentials. That was fixed by using the correct username for the YouTube account after Google took them over (some people had a username, other used an email address for their username). It sounds more like the upload is failing than the username and password not being accepted. So I would just do the workaround unless you wanted to test iMovie again in the future to see if it suddenly starts working again.

  • IMovie will not upload to Vimeo

I use iMovie to upload to YouTube all the time and it has always worked great. I noticed that the new version of iMovie has the ability also to upload to Vimeo. I have a Vimeo account so I chose the upload to Vimeo option and entered in my password, but nothing happened. IMovie didn’t give me either a progress bar or an error message. It just didn’t do anything. I checked my password to make sure it is correct. I do not understand why iMovie will not upload to Vimeo. How do I fix this?

I had the same problem. Looks like iMovie doesn't give any feedback when the login to Vimeo fails.
The most likely problem is that your "vimeo user account name" is *not* your full name (say "Marc-André Lafortune"), but your "shortcut url" (in my case "malafortune"). You can set this in vimeo by using this link: http://vimeo.com/settings/shortcut
This is what you must enter when you setup your account in iMovie. If that is correct and your password is good too, you will see a progress bar after the login is successful (2-3 seconds).
    HTH
If anyone from Apple is reading this: iMovie should be fixed by
    1) giving feedback when login fails
    2) ideally change "user account name" for "shortcut URL" or similar, with a popup like "what is this?"
    3) only accept the characters that are accepted by Vimeo for the shortcut URL (letters and numbers, no spaces, etc...)

  • How do you reduce a movie size in iMovie 10 to upload to youtube?

how do you reduce a movie size in iMovie 10 to upload to youtube?

Go to File>Share>File, choose the size (probably should choose either SD or Large) then click Next, give it a name, then click Save.
Go to iDVD. Go to File>Import>Video and select the file you just created. It will bring the video into your iDVD project.
This was always the way I did it in the previous version of iMovie. Works just fine.

  • IMovie 11 is not uploading to Youtube after finalization.

I am trying to upload a 2:49 minute long movie to YouTube, but am currently unsuccesful.
The project is finished being finalized (720p), but after it goes through the long process of "uploading to Youtube", there isn't a notification with a link for the video and it isn't on my channel. It seems the project is cancelled by YouTube at the last second, and it's getting quite frustrating.
What exactly is the problem? Is there some sort of workaround I can use to upload the video?

Go to Share Menu > Export Movie... (set it to 720p) and save it to the Desktop
Open the YouTube website in your favorite web browser, login to your account.

  • IMovie WILL NOT upload to iCloud Drive

For some reason my iMovie App on my Macbook will not upload the videos to the cloud. I make a lot of videos for myself, my friends and for youtube, and i really need them to backup and they won't show up in iCloud Drive. I have checked the iCloud Drive settings and iMovie is checked and I have tried uploading it through the iMovie folder in iCloud website in the iDrive files and it won't work because it says the files must be in a format iMovie can open. I have also tried doing it through the iDrive folders on my Macbook and it still won't work. What is going on? Is my macbook broken, or something?

Looks like this has been solved by yesterdays IOS8 update - thanks!

  • Premiere Elements 10 not Uploading to YouTube

As with other threads, upload to YouTube is suddenly failing for me with "Online Services encountered an error". Since upload to YouTube is my main use for PE10 this is more than a little bit unsatisfactory. Any fixes?
    Andrew

    Andrew
We are on the same wavelength. I just saw your post in that other thread and was going to suggest that you post in this thread so that we could continue troubleshooting your YouTube issue.
When I saw your post, I immediately went to my Premiere Elements 10 Windows 7 64 bit to try for the Share/Online/YouTube, thinking it possible that the fix may have become unfixed.
Good news and bad news. I had no problems with the Premiere Elements 10 upload to YouTube from within Premiere Elements 10
(4:53 PM  Monday March 24, 2014, East Time Zone USA).
    1. With your YouTube issue, are you still getting the Online Services error message? Or has the error message changed to something else?
    2. Could you
    a. Go to Edit Menu/Preferences/Web Sharing and do a Refresh of Online Services if you have not already.
    b. If you use a router for your computer, turn it off for about 30 seconds and back on.
    c. What browser do you use? If FIrefox, clear out the Cache Web Content.....Options/Content/Network/Cache Web Content.
Did any of the above have any impact on your YouTube problem?

  • Imovie won't upload to youtube, and quicktime won't upload in hd

I have had no problems in the past. i would upload an hd video to youtube, and it would be able to play in youtube hd. now imovie won't post to youtube. and when i export it to quicktime in hd, then post it to youtube, it isn't in hd. i recently bought the hauppauge 1212 hd pvr and eye tv 3.5, so i could record gameplay in hd. any ways to upload to youtube in hd? i've had no luck so far. thanks

Here is my personl tutorial on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqW8Lq9MUAk
Let me know if it helps solve your problem.
    Tutorial:
Basically goes around the fact of uploading your movie strait to YouTube.  By first exporting it to your desktop then uploading it to TouTube.

  • IMovie will not upload my video

I click import and I select the movie but it will not upload. It lets my select it and press import, but nothing happens. I also tried dragging the video into the event, but it doesn't do anything. The sign shows up, but it doesn't do anything.

Me too - iMovie video, uploaded over 6 months ago to My Gallery, accessed via Safari 4.0 on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard, is displayed on the screen with the Apple equivalent of the Microsoft spinning hour-glass (you know, the clockwise tick thing) with a question mark sat in the middle of it all. And the video completely refuses to play. It used to play last year... Oddly, the video next to it plays fine.
I know it's an Apple (Snow) Leopard Safari problem because the video plays fine when I use Firefox on the same MacBook Pro. And it plays fine with Safari on my Windows laptop from work. I have even tried uninstalling Apple Safari (drag and drop to the Trash) and then reinstalling. I've got to the point where I'm thinking of dropping Safari altogether, even if it does have nice MobileMe sync settings...
Come on Apple, what's the craic here?

  • Video in iMovie theater not uploading to iCloud

i am trying to upload my videos in iMovie theatre so it syncs across my other devices but it keeps stalling when I try to upload to iCloud and it never finishes uploading. My iPad is still on iOS 7 but my iPhone and Mac are on the latest operating System of iOS 8 .0 and Yosemite. Could this be the reason? Any ideas how to fix this?

OK, well that makes things easier because I wasn't sure if there was an issue with iMovie theatre after the iCloud Drive update with devices that won't run it. Since you haven't upgraded to iCloud Drive, I'm sure you shouldn't have an issue uploading from your Mac.
Could you describe exactly what happens, I sometimes see the progress bar complete but not actually disappear, next time I open iMovie the progress bar has disappeared and the movies are available on other devices so obviously they do complete.
The other thing to consider is whether this is project specific. How many projects have you tried and have you tried compiling a real simple and short project to upload for test purposes.
Is your Mac connected to the network with ethernet or wifi.

  • QTs from compressor not uploading on youtube?

I've done this before, just not recently.  Can't get these things past the 1% range.  They loaded with no problem on vimeo.  Full res from FCP into compressor with the "you tube sharing" setting.  I did turn the frame controls on and set them to "best" but I've done that in the past I think.
    Thanks in advance.

    > It's 268mb.  That shouldn't be a problem should it?<
Those are questions for Youtube, not FCP users.

  • Ios 6 imovie won't upload to youtube

I have an iphone 5 with iOS 6 and iMovie. I have set up a family Google account but iMovie says it can't upload to this account without any other information. It processes it but can't upload it to You Tube. Any suggestions?

    nevermind, i fixed it.

  • Sharpen video footage before uploading onto YouTube

Basically I'm wondering whether there is any way to sharpen up the video footage in iMovie '08 before uploading onto YouTube to compensate for the 'softening' of the video by the YouTube rendering.
I've compared the video's I've uploaded to the same ones uploaded by a few other users and it seems to me that my versions seem to be a little bit blurred. I've tried most of the tricks like resizing the video to 640 x 480 so YouTube compression doesn't have to do too much work and the 100MB limit can be consumed in the quality of the video.
For info, the video footage looks sharp enough in iMovie '08 viewer, I can't seem to find any method to tweak the sharpness from within iMovie.
If this cannot be achieved from within iMovie '08, can the sharpness be adjusted in '06 or in Final Cut Express (which I am REALLY struggling with!), or does anyone have any other suggestions. Any idea on when the upgrade is due out?
Any help and assistance as always is much appreciated

I can't see any options from within Streamclip to sharpen the video further.
Since you are in MPEG Streamclip here (and not iMovie '08), you would have to go through the alternative "Export to other formats..." File menu option to access the original QT structure "QuickTime" option window which includes access to the built-in "Filter" options.
PLEASE NOTE: I'm focusing this particular exercise on uploading pinsharp video footage onto YouTube rather than general video editing.
While the use of different settings and compression formats may help reduce the YouTube loss of quality, IMHO there are just too many issues with both the transcoding of files by YouTube and their on-line player to justify the use of this site where quality is your major concern. Use this site when widest distribution to the most people is more important that the final quality. If you must use YouTube, you may wish to review the following Ken Stone article: Encoding for YouTube Using Compressor.

  • How do I save in a .mov in v10 so I can upload to youtube?

Really struggling with v10.  When I hit share - file it does not give me an option for file extensions and instead only exports as an mp4 which will not upload to youtube.  The share to youtube feature is worthless because when I attempt it, says sign up is required but when I have my own channel with subscribers, clearly I've signed up.  Can anyone help me with any way to export in a file format that will allow me to upload to youtube?  Thank you so much for your help!!!!!!!

    Premiere
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
What is the player that you are using?
For now, I will assume that you are using Premiere Elements 11, 12, or 13 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
What are the properties of what you are putting on the project's Timeline?
And, what are your project settings?
The basic idea is to set up the project settings (you manually or the project automatically) to match your source properties.
After the editing phase and you are ready to export to a file saved to the computer hard drive, you go to Publish+Share/
Computer/ and make your choice. There is more than you can see for Computer choices. You use the thin scroll bar
to the right of the choices to scroll down to see the whole list.
If you want an export with a .mp4 file extension, then you should be looking at
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
with one of the MP4 presets described with the properties comparable to your source.
You can also find an .mp4 export under
    Publish+Share
    Mobile Phones and Players
If you obtained a file with a .mpg file extension, I am guessing that you got as far as what you could see, that is, Publish+Share/Computer/MPEG.
Lots of possibilities...but keep in mind that .mp4 is just a file extension (container/wrapper format that wraps the important video and audio compressions).
So, we can discuss that further.

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.
