Impact of running autoconfig on SSL setup

Hi,
I have SSL setup in production and need to apply the latest autoconfig patch there. Can you please advice if running autoconfig will impact the current SSL setup in any way?
My EBS version is 11.5.10.2 with 10.2.0.4 database. I have a multinode configuration with Web and forms server on one node and Database, reports, concurrent and admin server on the other.

SSL setup - Weblogic 10.3 and OIM 9.1.0.1

I am using self generated certs. I have followed all the steps in configuring SSL for OIM given in section 8.6.2 SSL Certificate Setup given in Installation and Configuration Guide for Oracle WebLogic Server Release 9.1.0.1 E14047-02.
But when I try to perform the following step:
To configure the trust store:
1. Copy the supportcert.pem file to the following location on the Design Console:
OIM_DC_HOME\java\lib\security.
2. Open a command prompt at OIM_DC_HOME\java\lib\security and run the
following command:
cd OIM_DC_HOME\java\lib\security
keytool -import
-alias support
-trustcacerts
-file supportcert.pem
-keystore cacerts
-storepass changeit
I don't see any folder in oim client as given above of \java\lib\security. So I created the same and followed the instructions but still the keytool.exe s not present in it. So is something missing in the document that we are not aware of? Do we have to copy the keytool.exe from BEA_HOME? I tried that too but it propped up an error saying some DLL/JAR not found.
I found this viewlet which shows something different related to SSL setup in weblogic

Are the steps given in the guide enough for the SSL configuration between weblogic and oim ? or do we need to follow some other steps too ?
Any ideas/clues/suggestions? Very appreciative.

I had a look into the xlclient.cmd file and went to the JAVA directory which is being used. And did a search for the "cacerts" and found out that there is a file named cacerts in the JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security folder over there.
But how does that relate to the problem of running the keytool command successfully at the right place (OIM_DC_HOME) ?

Issue in running autoconfig in appsTier while cloning

Hi my dear Friends
I am working on a clone. I completed post clone in dbTier. Now my DB is up and running. Then I ran adcfgclone.pl in appsTier. It completed with some errors in autoconfig.
The content of log file:

I modified the environmental variable DISCO_JRE to point to the jre in my COMMON_TOP.
After this wen i ran autoconfig it stopped abruptly. In log i found the below:

Then i rolled back my environmental variable DISCO_JRE to the old value but no result.

I found this.
STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Following Note: 238276.1 - Migrating to Linux with Oracle Applications Release 11i
2. Follow Section 2: Migrate Platforms with Oracle Applications 11i
3. Follow step 7. Run AutoConfig setup phase on the target system
4. Run command line:
./adconfig.sh run=INSTE8_SETUP contextfile=/u001/.../contextFILE.xml
Changes
The OS environment variable JAVA_HOME is set.
Cause
$JAVA_HOME misdirects adconfig to the wrong jre.
Solution
Simply issue the following command:
unset JAVA_HOME
Then you can run adconfig.sh without the above error.

while running autoconfig on apps tier autoconfig failed with CLNADMPRF.SH and okladmprf.sh and autoconfig take along time to complete
ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
1- how can i solve these error ?
2- should i skip these errors and start upgrade apps from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1 and DB from 9.2.0.8 to 11.2.0.1 ?

Could you access the answer side.
Could you see the reports.
Do one thing, take a back up of NQS config file from <Oracle Location>\instance\instance1\config\obiserver folder\nqsconfig.ini file.
Copy nqs config file if you have already have a back up.
Restart the services and try once.

Prod entries in jserv.properties after running autoconfig on test

whenever i run autoconfig on my test instance , production related entries come in jserv.properties file , how can i check where is the problem as nothing is wrong in the context file

SSL Setup in a load balanced portal

Hi,
We are implementing a portal landscape and also we are using a hardware based (Cisco ACE) load balancer for load balancing purposes.
So the configuration would be:
Portal requests --> Load Balancer --> Portal --> Backend
We are trying to implement SSL until the portal server and I have a question regarding the SSL certificate installation process.
The URL on the load balancer would be for example https://portaltest.mycompany.com which would load balance the requests between the application servers of the portal (https://sapeptest1.mycompany.com:50001/irj/portal and https://sapeptest2.mycompany.com:50001/irj/portal).
So, first thing we will have to do would be to install an SSL certificate (signed by a Trusted CA) on the load balancer with a CN=portaltest.mycompany.com.
I understand that for https to function properly, the host name in the URL we are using to get to the server should match the CN of the SSL certificate installed on the server.
Now, can we install the same certificate (that we put on the LB) on the portal as well?
(This might not work because the server type will be different)
(or)
Do we need to buy 2 certificates with the same CN and install one each on the LB and portal ?
Can some one please suggest on how to proceed with the SSL setup and certificate installation process ?

We are trying to DR to turn stand by to test. Now the database is up and running. When i tried to run autoconfig on DB node i got below error.

Impact of running DBMS_STATS.GATHER_DATABASE_STATS online

Hi,
We're fairly new to DBA with an Oracle 9i database and have been having problems with performance. A lot of the querys were using full table scans instead of indexed scans.
We copied the database to our test database and ran the DBMS_STATS.GATHER_DATABASE_STATS() procedure and lo and behold the queries started using the indices again!!!
We now want to run this procedure via the Oracle Enterprise Manager but are unsure as to the effect that running this procedure will have with our users being logged in at the same time. Is it safe to run this procedure with the users logged on? We are not overly fussed if the users suffer reduced performance in the short term as in the long term they will have much improved performance.

Hi all,
Tony has now gone on holiday for a week. We tried running the DBMS_STATS.GATHER_DATABASE_STATS() via Oracle enterprise manager on the live database last night with no users logged on. it failed with the following errors
ORA-04045 - errors during recompliation/revalidation of sys.dbmd_stats
ORA-06508 - Program being called not found
ORA-06512 - error on line 2
The database and application is supported by a software vendor who claim this is an Oracle bug which is being investigated, the package does however function perfectly on the test database on the same cluster. This test database was rebuilt two days ago using export and import from the live db. I could be wrong but based on some of the claims they have made in the past it seems unlikely. Could this be more of a permissions problem or that the target stats tables are not in place?
What would be the impact of running
ANALYZE TABLE schema.table COMPUTE STATISTICS;
against all tables with users logged on and would this be as effective as the dbms_stats package.

Copied db tier filesystem, but did not run autoconfig

Hi
I had to copy the APPL_TOP this week. The application is up and running. I was told to NOT bother running autoconfig. Guess what?
Although the APPL_TOP copied fine, the .env files (the APPSORA, the custom file) and the .profile did NOT copy.
I know that now I should run autoconfig to create the APPSORA. Is this also true of the custom and profile? Or are these done manually?

Its strange, since I did copy the APPL_TOP, and no, the .profile and the .env files are not there. Will copy them now.For the env files, you will not find it there since you copied the whole APPL_TOP, so this is an expected behavior.
For the OS users profiles, it should be there and you should not lose those files.
The reason I asked is that at the top of our APPSORA.env it states that "this file is generated by Autoconfig" If your source application node is AutoConfig enabled then this is also an expected behavior. Verify the environment variables in this file; it should be pointing to your source instacne and not the target node.

Impact of running dcmctl resetHostInformation

Hi all,
Just wondering, what is the exact impact of running dcmctl resetHostInformation ?
I have a working infra and a working midtier, however, the midtier is not accessible from EM because it's listed as localhost.localdomain. Oracle support claims it was installed this way but it was not.
So im wondering, can I run emctl resetHostInformation on the midtier only or do I have to run it on infra too?

As mentioned by Giuseppe the PTO carryover process will always recalculate the latest balance, but it is always recommended to follow a cut-off date till which you allow employees to apply and get all the leaves approved. Post that cut-off date you block the previous year leave application in system and run the carry-over process.

Running autoconfig on windows

Hi,
When ever i run autoconfig on windows machines(remotely). i see that it hangs at orainf.cmd.
Executing script in Instantiatefile
8.0.6 HOME\orainf.cmd
Why does this happen. Is it different way to run autoconfig on windows machines.
I am applying patch 5478710. At the end the patch is ruunning autoconfig and it is hanged here

If you see my above post ,i said dont use remote desktop connection,mstsc will give you remote desktop connection....which is good for brwosing and other activitieson the system but not good fo oracle apps admin tasks.
Otherwise use a VNC server or symantec pc anywere which will give u a direct GUI session of server to you.

How can I run autoconfig without manually giving apps password?
Supposedly I keep apps password hardcoded in some file and then autoconfig can read the apps password from that file ??

Then after that we disabled SignOn Audit Level to "NONE" to fix the problem, but when we try to run AutoConfig in any tier, we get next error message:
