Implementing auto refresh feature in POWL

Hi,
I need to know how to implement auto refresh feature in POWL ( Personalize Object Work List ) after pressing any button present in the tool bar on POWL.
I think this will be implemented in method HANDLE_ACTION of POWL. I need to know how to implement it.

Hi Maqsood, could you provide a little more info.
By pressing right click (or ctrl-right click is sp7 or earlier) you can find the name of an button
and the name view and teh WD Comp name. All useful if we are to help.
Also im not sure what autorefresh should do.
Did you see the start plugs on the POWL ?
There is a refresh option there.
How is the POWL being launched ?

Implementing Auto Shutdown feature in J2ME midlet

I am trying to figure out all possibilities to implement an auto shutdown feature in an application which uses only high level UI components (Lists and Forms), if the application remains idle for a specified time say 60 seconds.
Any suggestions how one could achieve this.

No, its not necessary that everytime user does something and some code is executed, for instance if the user is navigating UP or Down a List and is only pressing UP/DOWN navigation keys in such a case no code is executed. What to do in such a case??

There is a table which has few rows, which are populated on launch of a particular screen..now table needs to be refreshed without reloading of page or press of a button (i.e without any user action)..

Hi Hampanna,
I guess you can use the TimerTrigger. This will be useful in your case.
The TimedTrigger UI element is used to execute a controller action periodically with a defined delay.
TimedTrigger is currently invisible (like InvisibleElement), thus it ignores both its tooltip and its visibility. Nevertheless it occupies a cell in certain layouts like MatrixLayout. To use a timed trigger, you have to assign an action to the onAction event and set the delay property to the desired delay in seconds.
There are several ways to turn off a timed trigger. The most convenient way is to disable the assigned action (like you would do with a button). Other possibilities are setting the delay to 0 or disabling the timed trigger like any other UI element.
Caution: Triggering the action rudely interrupts user interactions!
So what you can do is asign a action and write the code to reload teh data in that action. Set the delay you require in seconds. In case later you want to switch of the timer you can easily do that.

ADF 10.1.3 : getting error while auto refreshing the read only table

I have implemented auto refresh on ADF read only table +[auto refresh simply requeries table rows]+ but after say about 15 -20 refreshes, i start getting the warning:

I searched on Google and found that this error can be removed by disabling token validation in the page. But i have following queries:
1. In my auto refresh code, i have added following lines to avoid this error but i am still getting the error, what could be the reason for this.
bq. *" current_row_key = dciter.getCurrentRow().getKey();* \\ * dciter.executeQuery();* \\ * dciter.setCurrentRowWithKey(current_row_key.toStringFormat(true));"*
2. Can disabling validation on my page lead to any issues?

Desktop auto-refresh not working in mate

ok so here is the odd issue i'm having. ill move something from one folder to another or unzip a file and nothing looks any different i have to hit F5 or ctrl+R to refresh the screen and then the changes show. i'm know to arch so any help will be greatly appreciated. maybe it has something to do with xrefresh or something but i have no idea. typing xrefresh in bash will just do the same as F5. it was working. and i don't have any idea what i did to break it.
maybe this is needed i am running nvidia and mate desktop. i have cairo-compmanager runing to handle composing effects. i tried disabling cairo to see if that had anything to do with it which it didnt. but any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to your description, when you specify the second URL to call a report within SSRS 2008, the auto refresh doesn’t work.
In your scenario, the second URL should specified like below:

Please test the URL above to check if the report can auto refresh. If issue persists, please open the code for the report, then add element below to the code.

Are you aware of any customizing in SRM regarding POWL auto-refresh? Or is that sheer EP stuff?

Can you please ensure that the criteria of the auto refresh have ALL
been met as defined here:

More sepcifically the selection in customizing:
Define Number and Intervals of Iterations for Automatic Refresh of POWL
The 'update' or auto refresh is generated once the criteria
have been established and executed manually once, i.e. If you create
a query and define criteria, you should refresh this query then manually
Now once any additional documents are created which conform to the
criteria they will be automatically added to the POWL.
This is how the system is designed to work, basically, one manual
refresh is required, then auto refresh kicks in. This of course is
invalidated by running of the POWL_WLOAD or similar reports which will
in many cases clear the search criteria and require new configuration
and refreshing manually.
Please also ensure that the following note has been implemented
1465828 Additional URL parameter to refresh POWL after logon
Afterwards you will have 2 parameters REFRESHA and REFRESHQ.
After Implementing the corrections, you can set the following parameters
in your PFCG configuration: REFRESHA=X to refresh all to queries after
logon
REFRESHQ=X to refresh only the current default query which is opened
after logon.

Auto Refresh work items in POWL iview

Hi Experts,
We are using EP 7.3 and ECC 6.0 EHP 5. MSS add-on 1.0
We are using MSS Inbox as POWL.
When we processed any work item in Inbox, the same work item still appearing (after approve) in inbox. When we click on "Refresh" link the approved work item is disappearing. Every time click on "Refresh" link is difficult.
Link to refresh work task items is available but user requires this to be done automatically upon processing of an item.

here refresh type is empty.
I Changed Refresh type to "OPTIMISTIC".
changes are reflected in table IBO_C_WF_ACC
Not in table IBO_C_WF_ACS
do i need to change the Refresh type in Standard table IBO_C_WF_ACS also?
issue is not fixed after changed in Refresh type also. please let me know if i missed any step?
Issue: Manager approving Travel request in MSS inbox using POWL. when Manager clickes Task new window will open to approve/Reject. when he approved, the work item is not refreshed until click on "Refresh" link in POWL inbox.

Hi,
There is only one way to do that.
Create a report and call refresh query method of POWL API class.
Directly you won't be able to refresh the query.
So what you have to do is you have to call the method Get Query. This method will give all the queries for the User.
All the query GUIDs you have to pass to refresh queries. In the refresh Query method there is an indicator for refresh query. You have to set that indicator to refresh.
Remember POWL queries are user specific. So you have to run it for the particular user.
If you want to get all the Queries then You have to modify the method Get Queries.

Using Excel 2007 to display and auto-refresh planning.

Hi all,
a customer wants to display a simple planning screen on a 24" monitor.
We're using an old domain pc, with domain user (planning) logged on to display the planning file.
We've configured the worksheet so that multiple users can edit it.
I've also found the settings which auto-update the file. I was amazed that this is standard functionality.
Although, it doesn't work as we expected. It goes well, but when too much users work in the file, some users still get the error message: 'can't open file because it's already in use'.
This does NOT happen when the file is not constantly opened by the 'planning user'.
So that's one issue, probably caused by the 'planning user', having the file opened 24/7.
Another issue is that the file stops auto-refreshing after a while. I didn't find any pattern in that.
So basically, what the customer needs is:
Display Excel worksheet
Auto-refresh
I've found some nice articles about SharePoint and Excel services, but unfortunately they're running SharePoint 2010 Foundation, which does not include Excel services...
Is there any other way or tool to achieve this, without using the Excel-built-in options?
Or maybe there's a fix for that problem?

I'm afraid you have just discovered how bad these features are implemented in Excel: they just don't work properly and I always advise against using them for any serious long-term solution.
If you do not have Excel services, then editing the document on the server (which would prevent lots of problems) is out of the question indeed.
Alternatives depend a lot on your needs.
For example, you could use sharepoint lists that the users can edit and then import those lists into Excel for reporting purposes.
But if this is relational data (parent-child tables, which is very often the case) then a database solution is probably the best route to take.

Konqueror file management and auto-refresh

Hello all,
I am working with Arch and KDEmod and so far everything is pretty good. I do have one problem that is a bit annoying.
Konqueror file manager windows do not automatically refresh when viewing the URLs system:/home or system:/users/jay. The system:/home URL is what is opened when you click on the "Home" icon, so this makes this problem stand out.
Anyway, the problem can be reduced by doing the following:
1. Open Konqueror file browser and select "Home Folder" from the tree on left. This puts you at the URL system:/home. (Alternately, just click on the "Home" icon that gets set up in the kicker by KDEmod.)
2. In a terminal window create a file in your home directory. Note that the file does not show up in the Konqueror window.
3. Press F5 to refresh Konqueror. The newly created file now appears.
4. In a terminal window delete the file you just created. Again, note that the file does not disappear from the Konqueror window.
5. Press F5 to refresh Konqueror. The file now disappears.
The correct behavior is that when you create and delete the file, it shows and then disappears from the Konqueror window accordingly. Currently this does not work for the system:/home (Home Folder) or system:/users/jay (Users Folders/<user full name>) URLs. Interestingly enough, if I type the URL "/home/jay" into the Konqueror location bar in file management mode and then do the above steps, the auto-refresh works fine.
Does anyone have any clues as to why the refresh doesn't work for the system:/ URLs? Is this by design? What plugin actually provides the system:/ URL schema?

Auto-refresh search result (for activities)

Hi all,
we've got a customer requirement to implement a auto-refresh function for the search result for activities, means, the search result table should automatically be updated every x minutes.
In component BT126S_APPT, view layout ApptSQ.htm, I've added the following lines of code after the thtmlb:advancedSearch tag:
window.setTimeout["document.getElementById('C16_W54_V55_Searchbtn').click();", 5000 ) ;
This script "clicks" the search button 5 secs after the search page has been loaded.
Now, the interesting thing is that this works two times, like starting the page -- javascript triggers first automatic search --search result updated -- javascript triggers second automatic search -- search result updated, but then the script isn't called ny more.
Any idea about that?

How to fix a website that auto refreshes to not open up in a new tab.

I use a scheduling website for work that auto refreshes. Sometimes when the page auto refreshes it opens up the current page I am on in a new tab instead of just refreshing in that tab like it usually does.
I have reset safari multiple times and it doesn't help. Any idea what I need to do?

FireFox won't auto-refresh specific site, other browsers do. How can I get FF to auto-refresh?

I have a Help Desk application (everything HelpDesk) with a web interface. I keep my queue screen open so I can see new tickets come in and check status of existing tickets. FireFox does not auto-refresh this queue page so that new items or status changes show up. The page must be manually re-loaded in FireFox. However, other browsers (Chrome, IE, Safari) auto-refresh the queue page just fine. How can I get FireFox to auto-refresh this page?

The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

Auto-Suggest feature in Combo-box LOV is not displaying non-unique values

Hi,
I have an auto-suggest feature implementation on a combo-box lov that displays the name and email-id of a list of people. There are non-unique names in the back-end, for example :
Abraham Mason [email protected]
Abraham Mason [email protected]
But when I use the auto-suggest feature and type in, say 'Ab', instead of showing both the Abraham Masons the auto-suggest displays only one of the values.
As in the example above the email-ids of the two Abraham Masons are different and unique.
If I use the conventional drop down menu of the combo-box then both the values are visible.
Is the auto-suggest feature implemented in a manner so as to display only unique values?

don't find a bug entry about this, so if this indeed is a defect then this has not been filed. Do you have a test case ? If you have please zip it up and send it in a mail to me. My mail address is in my OTN profile (just click on my name until you get to the profile). Pleas rename the "zip" extension to "unzip" and mention the JDeveloper release you work with. The test case should work against the Oracle HR schema.
If you need to track the issue, I suggest to file a service request with customer support yourself
