Import Access into Oracle

Hi,
I have some access tables (may be nearly 60) in one Windows PC. I need to import all the data into Oracle Database. This has to run every day night. So I need your help to import the data into oracle the easier, faster way.

Are you trying to do an incremental load every night? Or would you be able to do a full load from Access to Oracle every night?
What operating system is Oracle running on? Can the Oracle database server connect to the Access database? If so, you could potentially use Heterogeneous Connectivity to create a database link from Access to Oracle and write PL/SQL that would extract data from Access and load it into Oracle.

  • Can you import Access into Oracle 10g Express Edition?

    Hi all,
I know you can import files from Access into some other versions of Oracle, but is it possible with 10g XE?
I've been looking at all the tools in my browsers and none seem to do it.
I guess I'll need to convert the tables into text, and then from text into Oracle?
    Thanks

Why not give SQLDeveloper's migration a shot?
You can get it for free here.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/sql/index.html
I've never personally done it, but it doesn't look to mind bending :)
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/11gr1_db/appdev/msamigrate/msamigrate.htm
    Should work fine with XE.

  • Importing data from MS-Access into Oracle 9i

I want to import data from access into oracle 9i. I already contain the same data in Oracle but these Access files contain updates and additional data to the existing data . So i need help to import in such a way that origional data remain same just addional data and updates come from MS-Access.

    Hi,
You can achieve this by using the SQL Loader, which will help you out to load the data.
For further reference check the below link
    http://lbd.epfl.ch/f/teaching/courses/oracle8i/server.815/a67792/ch05.htm#1261
As you said that you have existing data in the table and you have Update's too. you have the Options like
APPEND which you will useful to add the new records.

You need to be able to package your VM as an OVA to import it into Oracle VM. Check your VMware documentation on how to do that.

  • Import payments into Oracle

Does anyone know a way to import payments that were made for a set of invoices that were imported through the Payables Open Interface into Oracle Payables through an API or any other kind of interface? Basically i need to import invoices and payments that were paid online through a third party site into Oracle Payables.
I have searched - http://irep.oracle.com, but i have not found anything that will create a payment in Oracle Payables and mark the associated invoices as Paid.
Here's some far fetched options i have come up with so far:
    Option 1:
I want to take the process of Recording Manual Payments and Wire Transfers through the UI and automate this. However, i don't see that this functionality is available anywhere through an API. Is this available through an API? This manual process is documented here: https://csslxa03.hkcss.org.hk:16298/OA_HTML/jsp/fnd/fndhelp.jsp?dbc=/u01/oracle/fmprd/appl/fnd/11.5.0/secure/csslxa06_fmprd.dbc
    Option 2:
OR another possiblity would be to create the Payment Batches for the imported invoices. Questions with this are: Is there a way to assign specific invoices to a Payment Batch? Is there a way to do this programatically? Can you assigned a Check Number to a Payment as well? Because these payments have already been made.
    Option 3:
Edit the Oracle tables directly. Don't want to do this though and introduce the possiblity of corrupting data.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I see that this is the functionality accomplished through the Manual Payments. However, we need to do this programatically on a batch basis because we need to do possbily a few hundred of these a day. We can't have a person keying these in.
So does anyone have a good work around to getting this done programatically?
What is Oracle's stance on editing the tables directly. I can hopefully quite easily figure out what tables are modified during the entry of a Manual Payment through the GUI and mimic this programatically, but this is not a good solution in my mind.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Extraction of Attendence Punch machine data (MS Access) into Oracle

    Hi all,
i want to link the our employees timesheet with the Punch machine so for that purpose i nedd to load data from MS ACCESS into oracle8i on daily basis can anyone guide me regarding this. how to extract the data from MS ACCESS daily ??
    Regards
    Rehman

I do not use or support ACCESS however I know at lot of places have ACCESS front-end's to Oracle so it ought to be possible, if the data does not need a lot of reformatting, to insert the data into Oracle from Access.
You would also have the option of extracting the data into delimited data files and loading those into Oracle via sqlldr.
At least one application we have collects data from ACCESS into SQL Server and then sends data to Oracle via a Linked Database.
The direct insert from ACCESS to Oracle seems best but if you also need data from elsewhere or have extensive reformatting (perhaps normalization) to perform also one of the other techniques may work better.

  • Can anyine help me in importing data into oracle 9i

    Hi All ,
I am very new to oracle 9i.I have created the dump of the database using exp command.
    exp system/manager file="testdb.dmp" owner=scott
Now i want the same database to be imported to a new machine.I have installed oracle 9i with database global database name SID as stc .I am able to connect to the database "stc " using scott and tiger using sql plus.
The import command that I used is
    imp scott/tiger file=testdb.dmp fromuser=scott touser=scott
When I gave like this , it showed like "Invalid login name/password".
But when I gave the command as
    imp scott/tiger file=testdb.dmp fromuser=scott touser=system
It worked . But I am unable to loacate the tables.
Also I want to import these tables into scott. So is there any better way so that I can copymy data from one machine to another . Or is there any tool which converts mysql tables scripts into oracle table scripts
    Thanking you in advance
    Diny

    Hi
I tried giving the same but it is showing the same : oracle error 1017 encoountered . Logon denied.
And it is asking for new login and password.
Then I gave the login / pwd as scott / tiger . Then it started importing .
We already had added around 150 tables in the database early. So is there any command so that we can delete all the tables entirely.

  • Import data into oracle from a text file?

    hi guys,
How can we import data into oracle9i release 1 from a text file with comma seperated or tab seperated delimeters?
    please help,
    Imran

table is already created, just have to populate data into table through a dat or text file. As suggested, you would either:
1). use SQL*Loader to load the data into this table.
2). create external table on that data file and then do:
    INSERT INTO your_real_table
    SELECT * FROM that_external_table ;

  • Importing Excel into Oracle

    Scenario:
7 users have access to an Excel Sheet.
Any user can use the coldfusion front-end and upload this
excel file into an Oracle database.
Excel sheet has 30 columns, but when they click on
    Upload...only 5 0r 6 columns will be filled.
The rest will be null values in the database.
I'm not in a position to make use of Oracle External Tables
neither can I run DB scripts to check for newer Excel Uploads.
As of now I need suggestions on the possible approaches.
    Also when user clicks upload:
If col-1 has value then col-2, col-3 should have values and
col-4, col-5 should not have any values.
There will be checks like these in place too.
Please suggest how do I check an .xls file if all these
conditions are filled per row (assuming that there would be 40 rows
per upload per user per day). Do I check the .xls file or do I
check for these validations somewhere else, if yese where and how
    ??

Either on these forums of the House of Fusion forums, I
    recently read a
thread about using excel as a datasource. That may offer you
    some options.
The file could be uploaded to a given location. That location
    is
configured as a datasource. Use standard SQL operations
    against it.

  • Import CSV into Oracle?

Is there a simple script or series of SQL statements to import a CSV into either a new table or an existing table rather than using a utility? There must be some way to do it in SQL or PL/SQL.

That's the problem with using tools, like TOAD etc. to help you do stuff, as it doesn't help you to learn the basics.
Once you know how to do stuff from SQL*Plus then, fine, use a tool to do nitty gritty for you. The key to learning such a vaste area of expertise is to have a really good understanding of the basics first. So many people just use tools and struggle to do things because they just don't understand the underlying basics.
External tables are almost as simple as creating a basic table but you specify where the data is coming from and what the layout of that flat file is. After that you can just query it.
    ;)

  • Extract the data from SQL Server and Import into Oracle

    Hi,
I would like to run a daily job that will export the table data from SQL server table (it will be only one or two table) and Import back into Oracle table (it might one or two table tables).
Could you please guide me that how can i do this using either sql server or oracle?
We have oracle 9.2 and sql server 2005.
Normally i do from flat file which is generated by source destination nand i dump into oracle using sql*loader but this time I have to directly extract/export the data from MS Sql server and load into Oracle table, mostly it will reload so i might doing any massaging data during the load.
If you show me the detail approach, it will be really appreciated.
I have access to Sql server but i don't how to use sql server to do this or using oracle as a daily job even becuase have to schedule the job for this as it will be a daily job.

Unless you can find an open source ODBC driver for SQL Server that runs on Solaris (and I wouldn't be overly hopeful there) Heterogeneous Services would require that you license something-- a third party ODBC driver, a new Oracle instance, or an Oracle Transparent Gateway.
As I stated below, you could certainly use SQL Server's ETL tool, DTS. Oracle's ETL tools would require additional licensing since you're just on 9.2. You could also write a small application (Java or otherwise) that connected to both databases and transferred the data. If you're particularly enterprising, you could load the SQL Server Type 4 JDBC driver into Oracle's JVM and write a Java stored procedure that connected to the SQL Server database via JDBC, but that's a pretty convoluted approach.

  • Importing Data into Apex 3.0.1

I know that this question has a simple answer, but here goes. I know how to import data into oracle using sql loader and sql insert commands but can Apex import data into a blank application form with multiple rows of data to import.
    Like:
    U_Id L_Name F_Name City State zip
15 Taylor Joe Atown Mi 42333
16 Jones Jim NewT Ky 43211
and 200 or 500 or more columes
Again I know how to import into Apex to create a new form from a spreadsheet or access, but I don't know how to move raw data from a text file into Apex.
    Can this task be done.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Tim,
When an application is first created the developer has to specify the schema that will be used to parse (compile) all the code against. All you need to do is to use your existing knowledge of importing data into Oracle and import the data you want into the Parsing Schema of the application. Use Application Definition to find the parsing schema for your application.
