Import/Export of Metadata Needed

We need the ability to Import and Export metadata in CSV format or equivalent. Our office currently works with Extensis Portfolio which allows us to Import and Export large amounts of data so it can be taken into Excel and worked on, cleaned up, changed or whatever. We then reimport it back into the Portfolio catalog. It's very easy and very efficient. Would love to see something similar in Lightroom.

Anton
If you want to do this, I think the best route would be through hitting the back end database. You could use Excel formulae (the ampersand) to concatenate cell values and create a SQL statement that you run against the SQLite database. You would need to be decent at Excel, at SQL, and understand the database structure.
Mature DAM programs often have features that allow users to map text file data to the program's fields, and professional-grade programs usually have scripting that allows you to roll your own data updating, which could include external sources.
You might have a look at Portfolio and its 30 day trial. This has mapping, so you can get that text file into its database, and it can also be scripted from Excel VBA. It can then write that metadata directly into jpegs or tifs - no other formats.

  • Script to Export and Import Keywords and Metadata

I have a requirement to mass upload and download keywords and various metadata fields (i.e. File Name, Date Created, City, Country, Document, Title, etc.) into an external database from the Adobe Bridge. Ideally it would be compatible to .txt, .csv, etc type of database format. Currently I have to accomplish this task one at a time. I have an immediate need to upload 1000 plus pictures and various text fields into my website to share with others and be able to sell my pictures online.
My immediate is for exporting the metadata and keywords.
Does anyone know of a script that is aavailable?
    Arnold

    John,
Thanks for your quick response. Below is the script I just modified this morning. When looking in the keyword field, it returns the word "undefined" for all records.
I tried that yesterday and it didn't work. When looking at the Advance file info on Adobe Bridge I see the below format which had 2 levels. All the others I used only had one. Since I am not a programmer, I need help on that part of the script.

  • Need to export custom metadata fields to a national data base, can I ???

In Aperture3 are custom tags embedded in exported Versions or Masters. I have a task to embed matadata on 2000 items and need to pass on the information to someone who doesn’t have Aperture

I am not sure whether you really can embed custom metadata in the jpeg file itself. However you can quite easily export all metadata associated with a file in Aperture using AppleScript. The script below shows you how it works in principle with the different data categories in aperture: IPTC, custom fields etc. To adapt the script to your needs, replace eg "Photo Category" with the name of your own custom field. By copy/paste you can add more fields...
    tell application "Aperture"
    set tSelection to the selection
-- this is the header, not really necessary
set tValues to "Version Name" & tab
set tValues to tValues & "File Name" & tab
set tValues to tValues & "Keywords" & tab
set tValues to tValues & "Category" & tab
set tValues to tValues & return
    --here starts the real stuff
repeat with i from 1 to number of items in tSelection
set tImg to item i of tSelection
    --add Version name
    try
set t to name of tImg
    on error
    set t to ""
    end try
set tValues to tValues & t & tab
    try
    --add FileName
set t to the value of other tag "FileName" of tImg
    on error
    set t to ""
    end try
set tValues to tValues & t & tab
    try
    --add IPTC tag
set t to the value of IPTC tag "Keywords" of tImg
    on error
    set t to ""
    end try
set tValues to tValues & t & tab
    try
    --add a custom field
set t to the value of custom tag "Photo Category" of tImg
    on error
    set t to ""
    end try
set tValues to tValues & t & tab
    --next line/image
set tValues to tValues & return
    end repeat
set f to choose file name with prompt "Choose file name..."
    set my_log to tValues
set mylogfile to open for access f with write permission
set eof of mylogfile to 0
write my_log to mylogfile starting at eof
    close access mylogfile

  • HR ABAP : Need more information for Import/Export files in HR

    Hi Everybody,
I have been in ABAP programming for pretty long but very new to ABAP HR.I am making a Self-Learning attempt in ABAP HR where I have been able to acheive a fair understanding of Infotype,LDB,Screen Modifications,RMAC macros... But presently I cannot very clearly understand the accessing of PCLn files specially PCL2 (payroll derivations).I am using SAP Help for it. I would highly appreciate if anybody could provide me with some documents to understand Import/Export files in HR.
Any kind of personal tricks or tips to understand the same would also be very helpful.
    Best Regards,
    Sangeeta.

    Hi Suresh,
Your reply was very comforting... I have been literally struggling to understand the includes for data definitions and Key.It would be great if you could just provide me a sample program with the Read Payroll and Write Payroll in case you have any.
Other than that as per your suggestions I would then just concentrate on the modules..
Once again I would like to thank you for your reply.
    Best Regards,

  • CMSDK import/export utility

Can the 9i CMSDK import/export utility be used to export the content of the an iFS 1.1.6 schema to subsequently import into a 9i database? Once imported into the 9i database, then migrate/upgrade the 9i iFS schema to CMSDK 9 for testing purposes?

Thank you for your advice Luis.
What I really need to be able to do is keep my iFS 1.1.6/RDBMS8.1.7.4 development environment intact, while creating a CMSDK/Oracle9i environment for regression testing. I have multiple iFS schemas (6) in our 8.1.7.4 dev database (source). And, what I would like to do is copy one of the iFS environments (including Metadata) out of source and move it into the CMSKD/Oracle9i environment(target). Both environments need to remain accessible, and the source environment needs to remain at version iFS1.1.6 / 8.1.7.4 for regression testing.
Here's a list of actions that I have taken:
    1. install oracle9i rdbms software.
    2. create 9i database from scratch.
    3. install 9iAS software
    4. install CMSDK software in 9iAS root.
    5. export one iFS schema out of the dev source database. (Using the plain RDBMS export utility)
    6. import this schema into the newly created Oracle9i database.
    7. Run CMSDK configuration tool to upgrade the imported iFS 1.1.6 schema. <== FAILED HERE!!!!
I run into a problem at the start of the upgrade, when using the configuration tool. It complains that the credential manager username IFSSYS$CM does not exist and fails. So, I simply created a user called IFSSYS$CM in the 9i target database to see if this would allow the configuration tool upgrade process to progress and the result was another error of "Insufficient Privileges". How can manually set a the crediential manager so that the imported iFS schema can be upgraded successfully?
I realize that be doing an in-place upgrade of my entire Oracle 8i source database. I will be able to migrate both the RDBMS and iFS using the installation/configuration tools.
If there is a limitation of not being able to copy (credential manager metadata) an iFS 1.1.6 schema out of the source and into a target database, and then upgrading/migrating the schema to CMSDK/Oracle9i. Then I may be forced into cloning my entire development instance (giving it a different name) and then doing in-place migration of the entire cloned database (all 6 iFS schemas). Our source dev database is 18G and includes much more (probably garbage data) than will be needed for our regression testing. My hope was to take only a subset of the 18G (1 of the 6 iFS schemas) and move it into CMSDK/Oracle9i to perform the testing. We are very low on available disk space and taking only a subset would be a more efficient use.
I have even attempted to use the CMSDK export utility to export the iFS1.1.6 schema. I was hoping this would export the iFS1.1.6 schema, metadata, contents, and credential manager. This was not successful due to missing Java packages not installed in the Oracle8i (8.1.7.4 database).
These are all the details of my dilemma. Can you help guide me in the right direction. I've spent a lot time already fumbling through and have had a number of false starts with my proposed approach. I need someone to tell me the recommended way of approaching my issue. Thanks again.

  • Import/Export problems- Auto Resizing?

Among other things, I use Aperture to manage my iPhone wallpapers (It's convenient since I also have albums of vacation photos that sync to my phone through aperture.) When I download them, they are the correct size for the iPhone (320x480). When I import them, either by dragging and dropping or with the import tool, the metadata says the image is 320x480. Everything seems fine.
However, when looking at the wallpapers on my iPhone, everything is extremely pixelated. I wondered why, and then tried dragging one of the wallpapers from it's home in Aperture to my desktop, and it's somehow now 160x240. It's doing the same thing to my iPhone, making all the wallpapers pixelated.
So essentially, 320x480 picture goes into Aperture, Aperture registers it as being 320x480 in metadata, but then spits out a 160x240 version into Finder and on my iPhone.
    Why is it doing this?

Because you're not using the actual photos:
and then tried dragging one of the wallpapers from it's home in Aperture to my desktop, and it's somehow now 160x240. It's doing the same thing to my iPhone, making all the wallpapers pixelated.
When you drag a photo to the desktop from the Aperture WIndow what you get is the Preview of the file, not the file.
It's doing the same thing to my iPhone, making all the wallpapers pixelated.
Are you syncing them via iTunes? That also only uses the Preview.
To get the actual file you'll need to export it (File -> Export) or use better quality Previews.
    Regards

  • How do I export custom metadata?

My Aperture setup only exports some metadata fields and not all the fields I need to include. I've added some custom fields to the metadata list, ie model release, see image, but these won't export. How can these be included in my export? Thanks Tim.

Tim -- glad to help.  You've likely already resolved this better, but if you haven't, this might get the ball rolling.  The data you need to have _in the exported file_ is, afaict, "Is this model released?  Y/N".  The specifics of the release, and the actual release, don't need to be in the file -- they just need to locatable from the information in the file.  For this, a keyword suffices as long as your file naming allows you to find the Image in your Aperture Library.  I would keep the custom field -- they can be, as you know, quit useful -- but add a keyword (e.g.: "ReleasedYES").  Additionally, I would create a global Smart Album set to show all Images where the custom field "Model Release" is _not_ empty _and_ the keyword "ReleasedYES" is _not_ applied.  Add to your regular administrative workflow examining the contents of this Smart Album and adding the keyword "ReleasedYES" to any Images in it.
Since this information is likely very important to your business, you might consider using the most visible of Aperture's metadata:  Color Labels.  (The catch with Color Labels is that each Image can have only one of the eight possible labels.  There are few conditions that have eight discrete states.  Perhaps there are levels of release?)
Of course, your implementation is sure to be better customized, etc.  I just thought this might give you some ideas.

  • Attunity connectors for Oracle in Import Export Wizard in SQL Server 2008 R2

Is there a way we can see the Attunity connectors drivers in the Import/Export Wizard (64 bit) for SQL Server 2008 R2?
Although I made it work for SSIS, I would need these drivers in the Import/Export wizard so as to automate it for numerous number of tables which I want to migrate.
Can the Attunity connectors for Oracle be used in the Import/Export wizard? If so please let me know.
    Regards,
    Ashutosh.
    Ashutosh.

I have 100 tables to migrate. Creating a data flow for each table is tedious and that's why I was looking out for a way to do it through import export wizard so that I don't have to create a separate data source and destination for each table in the Data
    flow Task.
Is there a way to loop through all tables and transfer data in SSIS without having multiple sources and destinations created for each table? This also involves a bit of transformation as well.

How do I run the import process over again as half of the content is imported and my import process failed in the middle when running the process over again what settings do I need to provide to make sure no duplicates get created etc.
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
There are a couple of ways to get around the issues that you are facing such that import process is not interrupted because of these. They are as follows :
    1. Use ArchiveReplicationException component . This will keep the import process running and make a log of the failed process which can be used for assessing / gauging the success of the import and what all needs to be redone.
I would suggest this as the option for your case.
    2. Put the config variable for arciver exception to 9999 so that the archive process stops only after hitting the limit of 9999 errors.
I would suggest to go for step 1 as that would be a much more foolproof and methodical way of knowing what all items have failed during import.
    Thanks

  • IMPORT/EXPORT statement in Background Mode

    Hey dudes,
I am facing a problem in my coding. I am dealing with coding in several events in IS-U, transaction FPY1.
However, it's not so important ya. Now I am written some code on IMPORT and EXPORT some parameters between 2 program code. It's work very fine only in 'DEBUG MODE', but when it's running not debug mode (Is BACKGROUND MODE), coz it's massive run program.
I suspect it's because of the background job. Does background job using ABAP Memory? IMPORT/EXPORT is only for dialog work process, not background work process?? I have a lot of question mark on my head now..
Hope anyone facing dis issue before can help.
    Cheers,
    Isaac.

Are you trying to pass data via EXPORT/IMPORT between two programs that are both running in background, or from an online session to a background process?... i.e. what are the two lots of program code that you are wanting to pass parameters between?
It would be fine for a background program to "export" data to a memory ID, then for the same batch program to submit another program that does the "import" from the same memory ID... but this method won't work for an online user doing an "export" and a batch job doing an "import" -> for this to work, you would need to persist the parameters so that the batch job can retrieve them.
If you can explain the scenario a bit more, will try to offer more help...

  • Import & Export of Internal table

    Hello All,
In my requirement I need to call the MB5B program RM07MLBD. I used the code like this.
    SUBMIT rm07mlbd AND RETURN
                WITH matnr   IN  so_matnr
                WITH werks   IN  so_werks
                WITH datum   IN  so_budat.
Now from the RM07MLBD program I need the get the values of the table * g_t_totals_flat * to my zprogram.
Is it possible to import & export the Internal table from one program to other.
    Regards,
    Anil.

    Hi,
You can export the internal table ot memory id and can access the (Import) in the called program.
Consider this small code from ABAPDOCU.
DATA text1(10) TYPE c VALUE 'Exporting'.
DATA: itab TYPE TABLE OF sbook,
          wa_itab LIKE LINE OF itab.
    DO 5 TIMES.
      wa_itab-bookid = 100 + sy-index.
      APPEND wa_itab TO itab.
    ENDDO.
    EXPORT text1
           text2 = 'Literal'
      TO MEMORY ID 'text'.
    EXPORT itab
      TO MEMORY ID 'table'.
    Regards

  • Regarding Workflow 2.6.2 backup/migration/import/export

hi folks. i m quite amazed that this forum does not provide any answer to the question of taking backup of workflow 2.6.2 or import/export of owf_mgr schema. if one cannot take backup how this oracle workflow is stable. how this product is suitable for any organization. its a very basic requirement. ok its about processes and states.... but, even then i cant get the logic of not taking a backup. sometime we have to move data across servers
the only answer that i have seen for this is way back jan-09-2003 that its not possible yet. its now 2006 any one who can guide may be i got something or many a things wrong.

    hi folks,
    thanks for reply
Matt: considering ur statment para what i get for para 1
Full backup is fine - although there are some objects which are owned by SYS, as long as youare going from one database with WF installed to another one, you should be OK.
    is
what i understand that u are talking about taking backup of entire database and not of just owf_mgr from export utility. if this is the case then do i really need to have owf_mgr user/schema installed where i have to import that backup
    Secondly for Para 2
Runtime data is a different thing altogether, although I can't really see why you would want to migrate the runtime data from one DB to another.
what i get from ur description of Runtime data here, is about the data that represents different process states relavant data which is stored and maintained in different tables. Am I Right?
if the answer is yes then the answer to ur question (asked in the last line of ur statment) is that i dont want only runtime data to be exported rather i wanna export full user and its schema. and the reason from moving it from one server to another server is simply to have backup for the time of system crash or failiure
I am keenly anticipating ur reply

  • Custom HTML importer/exporter, how to preserve HTML id, class, style

I need to implement a custom XHTML importer/exporter and CSSFormatResolver.
    If I for example have a p-element: <p id="p1" class="xyz" style="margin:0.7em; color:#3300FF">lorem ipsum</p>
How do I map the HTML attributes: id, class and style in order to preserve them in the ParagraphElement in order to use them during the custom CSS cascade process and for custom HTML export purposes (the exporter needs to spit out <p id="p1" class="xyz" style="margin:0.7em;  color:#3300FF">lorem ipsum</p> again.
    1. is this mapping correct or will this interfere with internal TLF formatting:
    HTML attribute
    ParagraphElement property
    id
    id
    class
    styleName
    style
    userStyles
    2. What is the purpose of FlowElement.coreStyles (where are those styles applied)?
    3. What is the actual purpose of FlowElement.userStyles, are those styles just for non TLF (end developer custom) purposes or does TLF use them at any point to set the element format properties?
    4. Any other pointers or related (non flex framwork) examples are welcome
    Thanks.
    Cheers, Benny

Your mapping looks correct to me for id and styleName.
I think what you are saying about style mapping to userStyles is correct.  Yes userStyles is an object of key value pairs holding all the non-TLF styles for a FlowElement.  coreStyles holds all the TLF styles for a FlowElement. TLF does use userStyles itself for the linkHoverFormat, linkActiveFormat and linkNormalFormat styles.
Setting FlowElement.userStyles TLF will replace the current set of userStyles with those in the supplied Object.  That Object will be treated as a dictionary of stylenames and values.
Normally I'd expect you'd use the FlowElement.setStyle API which figures out if a particular style belongs to coreStyles or userStyles and then sets the new style appropriately without changing the others.

  • Context right-click to export XMP metadata to file

I'd like to have the right click context menu include the option to "Export XMP Metadata to Files" in the Library grid or filmstrip. Currently an annoying trip to the Menu bar is required to invoke this function.

It was there for B4.1. The Contextual Menus are getting crowded, so maybe that's why they took it out.
I like lots of Contexual Menus, too. But they get a little useless if too crowded, so maybe they need ot be user configuarable for what one uses the most.
    Maybe by V1.5?

  • How to import/export in Pl/SQL ?

    Hello
I want to write a procedure in PL/SQL which will be copying one user's schema to another.
    I have Oracle 9i on Windows 2000.
My first idea was to use IMP EXP commands, but i need to execute this commands from PL/SQL procedure. How can I do this, except from writing Java procedure using Runtime class - I've done it, it works, but sometimes occure an critical error in Oracle Kernel, and I'm sure that Java code is ok.
