Important LUTCalc Update

Hi All, I've just uploaded a new version of LUTCalc (v1.9RC11). There is one big change under the hood which should barely be apparent to a user, and one of my annoying little (but important) bugs fixed. I have overhauled the maths behind the colourspace (gamut) side of things, to be more robust and flexible. As a consequence, I have simplified the Fluorescent control. Previously, it would include a colour temperature adjustment to compensate for a fluori's temperature, so could be magenta to green or yellow to cyan. I now realise that it is better to keep the colour temperature and the magenta / green adjustment totally separate. For normal use, I would suggest just using the slider in conjuntion with correcting for a fluori's nominal temperature with the colour temperature control. I have left the bulb temperature settings under 'advanced' and added a camera white balance option to better calculate the hue of green or magenta, but the variation now is very subtle, so as I say, the slider alone is the best bet, as with most grading software. The colour stuff is a fairly substantial change; I haven't yet seen any breakages, but they may well be there so please do keep me posted if you find anything behaving strangely. Now the bug. Changing to a non-log output gamma should change the output range to 'legal' for some formats (notably Davinci Resolve). The last version let in a bug which meant that this wasn't being checked for. Sony MLUT (which fixes to legal out for all gammas) and Speedgrade (which wants data in to data out) would be fine, but the result for a Resolve LUT (unless you manually changed output range to legal for non-log gammas) would be noticably higher blacks on the waveform. Personally I have been using it for MLUTs so managed to miss this until now. If anyone has wondered about this, sorry! ** A bit more detail (if you want it! :-) ): On another thread a prominent figure around these parts suggested I was expressing an opinion about log gammas and in particular the maths behind shifting EI exposure (and by extension going between gammas). I do have strong opinions on many things, but the beauty of (pure) maths is that when you stick to just the results of equations you can be pretty confident that something is a fact - provided you don't have a '+' sign in the wrong place! ;-) Still, I went back to check through the workings and I'm as happy now as I was then about the gamma side of things - it's actually pretty straightforward, just hard (for me) to explain. On the colour side however, I decided that it was time to make that more comprehensive. Previously, I have used a colourspace shortcut of manufacturer's published matrices between gamuts, and then calculated the passage to a consistent working colour space. Now, I have written up a system which calculates all these matrices at (as the manufacturer has done) at startup from chromacities and white points. The funny thing is that all going well, the results should be identical to before. The main reasons for doing this have been to tech me more about the mathematics of colour, and to make it easier to add gamuts. I have added DCI-P3 variants and Adobe RGB and Wide Gamut RGB. **

Yet another version, bugfix and potential bug prevention: LUTCalc web page LUTCalc For Mac GitHub releases page Very sorry about your problem Lenny; I haven't managed to replicate it, but I have gone through the code working on any potential culprits. I have found one definite bug though, where changing from 'grading LUT' to 'MLUT' wasn't setting the correct clip levels for a Sony camera LUT. The camera should ignore out-of-range values, but to be on the safe side, I would recommend updating and rebuilding any LUTs which are likely to exceed extended range (if you open a cube file in a text editor and see negative values or numbers above about 1.0947, then it's best to rebake it). As a carrot, I have added one tiny extra at the suggestion of Art Adams - at the top of the preview window there is now the option to click between 'legal' (the default) and 'data', which scales the preview values to show the whole of data / extended range. On the subject of Art Adams, I've seen the article - thought the comments seem to have grown since then ;-). Error importing sample/update.xml when upgrading IDM5.0 to IDM5.0 SP4

Hellos,
I fail to upgrade to SP4 on the last step, importing the update.xml file.
The Browser window has in red text:
"An error occurred importing the file, although some of the file data may have been processed. ==> com.waveset.util.InternalError: Class com.waveset.view.ViewUpdater not found."
I see in a text box many lines.. refreshing 0 of 2 etc..
last line says Found no instances of AdminRole, not suprising as it a first time install.
My system is Solaris 9 with MySQL 4.0.24 as repository (need 4.0.24 as we MUST HAVE EXTENDED ASCII CHARACTER SUPPORT, 4.1.x is no good) and SunApplicationServer8 as AS.
The IDM5.0 install and deploy was fine. The upgrade was going fine too until last step.
I upgrade by following the steps in IDM5.0_SP4_REAME.pdf.
What is unclear is whether with Sun AS8 I need to undeploy idm and rebuild idm.war after installing the SP4. The instructions assume we all use tomcat and windows.
I simply ran ./install, started the AS and tried to import
sample/upgrade.xml. I did NOT undeploy idm, jar it up again and redeploy it.
Anyways.. what I guess my IDM is now FUBR any hints how to recover?

I prefer to perform manual upgrades in which there is a staging directory (see the installation document) where you unjar the idm.war and make all the necessary changes and then jar it and redeploy. I have uses the same process for successful upgrade for WebsphereAS 5.0 and it worked great. I have heard others talking about similar issues because it seems the jar files are not upgraded in the process that you have used.

Export\Import WSUS Updates

I have a Q about export\import process in WSUS(3.2).
I have a primary WSUS server that I`ve exported all updates from and imported all updates to a disconnected
WSUS server.
now I have some new updates that I need to export and import.
my question is, do I need to export all files again? or do I have any option to do an incremental export or
something like that?

As for the WSUSUTIL functionality, that is an ALL or NOTHING operation. You have no choice in the matter.

Import action Update vs Replace in workflow

Hi! Is it true that we should be using import action Update (all mapped fields) when processing data updates via import manager?
I found that if I set the impact action to Replace and when I run my workflow which does a check on old and new value (for price), the validation will fail. This is because the old and new value will be the same. However, if I use Update action, then the system will retain the old value. I find it strange that on checking out that the system is not retaining the old value of the data (regardless of whether I am using Replace or Update action).
Can someone please clarify?

Hi SF,
Replace Import action will Replace the old value with the new Value so their is no information of the Old value as the old value is now replaced with the new value.
In case of Update All mapped fields the system will Update the old values with the new values as per the new source file and so not all the records field values will change .Only the incoming records which have updated values in the source file will update all the mapped fields with new values.
In any of the case only the lates value will be saved under that particular field for the records so tracing the old and new values is not possible.
Even the workflow is always triggered after the record is already updated/Replaced in MDM and after the record is created they get checked out.
Note: In case you are using MDM 5.5 , Excel source file cannot be used with the Replace Import Action.

Please explain something strange that happened when I elected to receive an important security update to firefox. Thank You!

I got a notice (pop up) saying I needed an important security update to firefox, so I did it, but it ran for a really long time, and then I saw on the lower action bar that it was transferring information from or to l.collective-media.net; Why?! I "x'd" off the screen quickly; Please explain this too me, thank you.

Sorry I gave this a 'this helped me' but after a long struggle I found some ticked box somewhere from some unauthorised chrome extension blaaa....... the link you gave was great, not only did it confirm all the bad things google is supposed to be up to it provided a better browser. Cheers man.
Anyone who find this; I disabled all extension in chrome. I then searched the word proxy in the settings section. A button came up, "change proxy settings" I clicked on it. Earlier it was greyed out as an extension was interefering.. It brought up a box with my own settings from my computer. Then I clicked LAN settings, then unchecked the 'Use a proxy server' button.
P.S. If you're using chrome, bail, and dowload Komodo Dragon. It's virtually identical, but you're not tracked, and you can use chrome extensions, and you can quickily transfer your chrome preferences into it.

Every Critical and Security patch is important. There is nothing like important ones, if the server role is critical then you can install windows Server 2008 in your test environment and deploy the patches and check the stability. You can also check each
update and read its description and then install it.

I want to ask how important to update gpu bios, cpu bios, firmware and etc for my GS70 Stealth pro ?
I never update any of it from February when i purchased this Stealth pro because Im afraid wrong and make my Stealth pro broken.

um you cannot update anything inside cpu but you can update bios and firmware for touchpad and such but for bios you shall never update it unless you occure any bios issues where it does not behave propertly then you can update bios but other wise you shall not since some people do it and bam they would kill laptop since they accidentely flashed wrong bios for wrong laptop or so thats why bios is risky to update when you dont know how to and that you shall not do it even laptop is runing fine on it's current bios.

This phase checks various requirements for importing a Support Package. This phase may terminate for the following reasons:
¡        TP_CANNOT_CONNECT_TO_SYSTEM: tp cannot log on to the database of the system.
¡        QUEUE_NOT_EMPTY: There are incompletely processed OCS requests in the tp buffer. Use the following tp command to display these requests:
     tp SHOWBUFFER -D SOURCESYSTEMS= TAG=SPAM
You can only continue to import the queue after these requests have been completely processed, or deleted from the tp buffer.

HT3290 Video will not import after updating my iMovie from '09 to '11

I updated my imovie '09 to '11 and now my video files from my camcorder JVC (model GZ_MG330HU) will not import. The video files show up in my iMovie library but when I try to create a project or movie and then share what I have created the files are listed as still on my camera and it says that I need to reimport. It says to go the File Menu and click "Reimport from camera archive" but there is no such option.
I used to import my files with my old iMovie version and create mini home videos but now even those video files are not listed. I would like to reload the old version. How can I do that? Will iMovie '11 get fixed?

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

Import an AE project and have the imported project update automatically

I have a created a separate project for titles we are using to describe our entertainers. "Comedy Legend, Acoustic ...etc."
As there are two designers on our team, we would both like to add to this composition and have it update when we pull it into our big project files.
Is this possible?
I saved the AE file for the titles on our creative cloud folder but the option to reload footage is greyed out when I import it into our master project file.
Any help would be appreciated!

Importing AE projects into another AE project does not contain a dynamic link to the original. Once it is imported, it becomes its own thing. That's because it's now editable in the new project.
Now, you can bring AE comps into Premiere via Dynamic Link and any changes made in the AE project will be reflected in Premiere, but that's because the AE project isn't editable inside Premiere. Dynamic Link is always a one-way street.

Importing and Updating Non-Duplicate Records from 2 Tables

I need some help with the code to import data from one table
into another if it is not a duplicate or if a record has changed.
I have 2 tables, Members and NetNews. I want to check NetNews
and import non-duplicate records from Members into NetNews and
update an email address in NetNews if it has changed in Members. I
figured it could be as simple as checking Members.MembersNumber and
Members.Email against the existance of NetNews.Email and
Members.MemberNumber and if a record in NetNews does not exist,
create it and if the email address in Members.email has changed,
update it in NetNews.Email.
Here is what I have from all of the suggestions received from
another category last year. It is not complete, but I am stuck on
the solution. Can someone please help me get this code working?

My DBA doesn't have the experience to help with a VIEW. Did I
mention that these are 2 separate databases on different servers?
This project is over a year old now and it really needs to get

I added some additional code to check for a changed email

Value Exceptions - Import Map Update

Hello MDM Gurus,
We have the requirement to update the existing import map by unmapping two of the fields that we no longer required.
When we try unmapping the required fields and save as another map name, export, reimporting it and overwriting the existing map with the same name. But the problem is we are loosing all value mappings. we are facing issue getting loads of value exceptions as all value mappings are gone.
Please we need experts advices to resolve this since we no longer need that two fields getting imported in to the repository.
We need a solution to unmap that two fields and keep all existing value mappings.
Save Update not works for filed mappings, it only works for value mappings.

Example :
Field1 and Field2 Unmapped, We saved the Map by Save -> we are loosing all value exceptions ( As it stores only present config)
Field1 and Field2 Unmapped, We saved the Map by Save Update -> When reimport the map again, we are seeing this field1 and field2 still mapped.
Field1 and Field2 Unmapped, We saved the map by Save As -> Still it does like First Scenario.

Just try this below procedure and revert with result.
1. Open the existing map.
2. Remove all the fields from matching field under Match Records tab.
3. Now unmap these two not required fields under Map Field/Value tab.
4. Afterwards, set again all the matching fields like earlier under Match records tab. Now make sure that under your Import Status tab Action Item: Ready to Import. Once it is done.
5. Now try with Save As option as a new map in order you have had existing correct map as a reference for future.
If it work properly then you can overwrite this new map name with existing map. Kindly revert.

Import or Update OPRJ Table

I have created a set of UDFs in the OPRJ table and would like to batch update them? I can not find a means through DTW, is there some other mechanism? Will I need to create an Add-On to perform this task?

Hi Richard,
If you are using SBO 2007A then you can use the DI API. It doesn't have to be an addon, I use the VBA interface in Excel all the time for imports (because I hate the DTW ) as this is capable of using the DI API to import data in to SBO. You need to use the GetCompanyService method of the company object to get the project service which is capable of adding and updating projects.
Something like this in Excel does the trick:

Premier CC crashes with video import (newly updated 10 days ago)

I recently updated creative cloud's adobe premier 10 days ago. It was working fine before the update, now it crashes everytime I load a video recorded from my phone (which worked fine before the update). Any help much appreciated. Not computer savy. This is the report:

Hi,
After creating a new project, go to File > Project settings > General and change the Video renderer to Mercury Playback Engine software only. Select "Delete Previews" after you click on OK. Now import your file and see if it does the same thing again.
