while taking backup, i'm facing the problem.
now i'm doing backup to Drive.
backup to tape drive is getting failed at state "initaliziting tape drive"
in DB13 i had scheduled one BDA action "initalize tape in drive"
but this is getting failed.
how to enable tape drive from DB2 control center / command line. ?
In how many way we can archive the log ?
what happens when we schedule reogranization ?
how to increase buffer pool ?
present buffer quality in my system is 45% (BP_STD_16k)
system log directory is not having enough space, how to increase this log directory ?
Important things to be concentrated in maintaining DB2 ?
how to improve Hit ration, and value range for hit ration ?
please give some important tips and point to monitor and control DB2.

Grapher - Importing Points, and Help File problem.

For some reason, I can't get the help file to load on Grapher to load. I have repaired permissions, but the thing will go no further than show me the entry page to Grapher help. Any searching just throws an error to the Console.
What I am actually trying to find out how to do is to import points into Grapher. There is an Edit Points option. From within the dialog that comes up, there is a button to import data to the application. I have been unable to get this to actually DO anything, and no error or alert is given despite what I provide as input.
Any ideas.
Grapher, btw. is a neat program, but the user interface is godawful. It really is organized pretty badly, IMHO.

It appears that the data set you import has to be formatted in columns of x, y, and z coordinates (two columns for 2D graph). It appears to assume a plain text file with the (x,y,z) triplets on individual lines (Return at the end of each line), and tabs between the x, y, and z coordinates for a given point. For example, a data set you could create in TextEdit.
The Import option permits you to specify other options for handling the data you are importing, such as using a comma as the separator (vs. tab) in (x,y,z) triplets, ala CSV (comma-separated values) data sets you might export from Excel and then want to import to Grapher.
Also, if you want to import points for a new data set so you can compare two different sets of data in a single graph, you first need to add (Click [+] in the lower-left border of Grapher) a new data set, then import the data into such. If you simply choose Edit Points > Import with an existing data set, the points you import are added to the currently selected data set in the Equations column.
None of this is documented in Grapher's Help. I basically had to experiment with it to discern the info above.

DB2 Monitoring

My goal is to perform an OLE DB synthetic transaction against an AS400 DB2 system using the SCOM authoring OLE DB template. I am looking for anyone with experience locating and installing the appropriate DB2 provider. I have tried the IBM Data Server
Runtime Client which contains and ODBC provider along with the following connection string but the query just times out.
Provider=IBMDADB2.DBCOPY1;DataSource=servername;UserID=username;Password=Password;
I know there are some 3rd party MPs that do DB2 monitoring but I'm not interested in those at this time.

Support package / add on import error in DB2 V9.1 / windows 2003 system

I have installed ERP 6.0 IDES version in Windows 2003 server with DB2 LUW 9.1 / FP5.
I have selected "Row Compression" and "Deferred Table Creation" during installation.
Now when I am importing add on BI Content 7.03, I am getting error during Movename tabs phase.
Error in phase: IMPORT_PROPER
Reason for error: TP_STEP_FAILURE
Return code: 0008
Error message: OCS Package ALL, tp step "6", return code 0008

VARBINARY problems in OBIEE 11g importing data from DB2 AS/400 V6R1

I have set up a connection between OBIEE 11g version 11.1.1.6.0 and DB2 AS/400 V6R1.
It is working fine for most of the data types, but we have the following cast sentence in a view:

We are importing this view into OBIEE 11.1.1.6, the fileds POS_CAT and POS_DESCR are coming as BINARY, we also have tried to cast them to VARCHAR, they come as VARBINARY instead.
When we try to see the fields in a report we are getting the error below:

I have tried to cast this fileds to VARCHAR in administration, no luck, error below:

I updated to XOrg1.9 and my mouse pointer becomes distorted into a garbled rectangle of noise whenever I move to the second monitor. It's fine on the first. Using Catalyst drivers.
I can still use it, but its a giant garbled blob... anyone else experiencing this?
It looks fine on the first monitor.
EDIT: I replace my ATI card with an Nvidia one and used the nvidia-beta drivers. Mouse pointer looks fabulous on second monitor now. Only cost me $400 to fix my goddamn mouse pointer!

'invalid command line argument' - Most probably the SAPinst is not able to find the right path for the DB2 UDB DVD or the the argument is too long to interpret which is a very common problem during installations.
Check the path for db2 DVD, and keep it shorter - that means you have to reduce the number of folders where the DVD resides. Copy the DVD in a short path let's say C:\DB2\dvdname and re-try installation by giving the new path of dvd in SAPinst.

Need to import data from DB2 into Essbase

I need to create a Windows process (like a daemon) to constantly check DB2 for updated records and then pull the updated record into Essbase and clean the blocks. Would it be better to:
a) Write a ESSCMD macro with the import command to somehow run constantly
b) Write a Java class that will pull the information with SQL
c) do something else?
Do you have any suggestions for the best way to do this?

What you should do depends on your skills (among other things).. It seems to me that if you write it in Java, you have a whole lot of flexibility that you don't have with scripting languages such as EssCmd or Maxl.

How do use an Import Command from DB2 into a java program

I have to use a csv file to load data into a table, after connecting to the database and using the execute, it does not recognise the import statement.
How do i import that file into a table using a java program

Import is a DB2 utility program which uses sql Insert to write data into a table. Insert is called from the CLP (command line processor), not from Java. If you want to do this job using Java, then you need to establish a connection to the database, and write your own sql insert statements.

Grapher doesn't import point sets??

Howdy,
I'm trying to import a CSV of points into Grapher as a point set. I go to the "Points" panel of the Point Set, where I see a button that says "Import...". I select my CSV file to import, but nothing happens. The file selection box closes and I return to the list of points, although none of the points from the file have been loaded. In short, the import button appears to do nothing. I have tried with commas and with tabs, I have removed header rows (even though there is a box in the import window that allows you to ignore header lines supposedly), and I have tried matching the number of columns in the point set before import to the number of columns in the CSV. Nothing. Its like the import button is just there for looks.
Any suggestions? I can provide any more information that might be useful, just let me know.

CS4 Still Import to reduce within monitor "Safe Area"

I'm importing Still into my project and have it importing to frame size. However, that frame size is well outside the 'safe area' in my monitor. Is there anyway to handle this automatically?

There is no automatic way, but as Harm suggests, what you want to do is just not something normally done. I'd not worry about it.

Imported footage shrinks in monitor view

Hey everybody, I'm new to Speedgrade, so sorry if the answer to this problem should be obvious. Carrying on, I'm having an issue when I bring a clip into Speedgrade. I'd bring in the clip and switch to the monitor view, only to find that my footage has been massively scaled down! I've tried importing via premiere, as well as using the standard navigator of Speegrade for importing. I'm not sure if this information is relevant, but the shot I'm attempting to work with is 29.97 fps, 720 x 480, avi format. Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thanks in advance!

To me it looks like a graphics-card/driver issue.

Can't see the import clip on the monitor

I tryed to import from my Sony HDV cam. The tape is running but nothing is happening in I movie monitor. The time code in Imovie is still.
I am using a Ilink firewire cable

4x3 format SD tape import looks ok on monitor , but, the DVD produced does not display correctly ? The format looks slightly thinner in width?

I have been archiving old Hi- 8 SD tape and when displayed on the PC monitor looks right. And looks correct on a TV Monitor.
But, the DVD when produced looks right on a TV monitor but, thinner when imported back as a DVD into Adobe Premiere Pro , how can I adjust this ? I know a 1,000pixels instead of 720 would fix the issue, i have checked it in Photoshop.
I have others that need extra editing, as the previous Sequences have been removed from the computer ?

usually this is caused by pixel aspect ratio. premiere usually reads it properly, but if it doesn't you can change it to a new value. in the project bin, right click the file(s) and choose modify, interpret footage. there is an option for pixel aspect ratio, you can try some till one looks right. the 1.21 or 1.45 might do what you are looking for...
