Imported Fireworks Nav Bar Animation Looping
Hi
I have imported a navigation bar I made in fireworks into dreamweaver and when I preview in browser it keeps looping. In fireworks I added a rollover effect so that when you rollover each bit of text, e.g. home, contact, games it goes bold, and when previewing it loops so they all keep going bold without my control. In Fireworks I made it using slices and several states, and so just when I rollover state one it changes to state 2 for example. Very simple, but it keeps looping, how can I stop this? Thanks. I have attached the png file for fireworks if you need to take a look.
Hi
You do not require the fireworks/javascript to achieve the effect you require for your links.
This effect can be made using simple css a:link, (visited, hover, active) statements, I would also recommend using css to style your page and not tables/image slices .
For the css links, see - http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_link.asp and http://www.webcredible.co.uk/user-friendly-resources/css/css-navigation-menu.shtml.
Moving from tables based design to css based - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/table_to_css_pt1.html.

I have been trying to add the web addresses in my Fireworks nav bar drop down menus. I can't get them to "take". I add the address, click done and some of them save and some don't. I am pulling my hair out! HELP!
the easiest way is constructing your menu with frame labels
now i have no way of knowing how you are constructing it ..so
this may not work for you ...i assume that you have created a main
button ...that has been converted into a symbol & then
duplicated to create all other buttons
okay here it goes ..i hope i dont confuse you
i will explain how to create 1 button with 4 submenu items
with the trems that i mentioned above
but iam not going to explain all the details of creating a
whole nav bar
because it just takes too much typing ...i assume you already
know this
sooo ! ...lets say this is the Portfoio button ...inside the
symbol now
create 8 layers ...the order is going from top to bottom
actions
labels
submenu Logos
submenu Illustration
submenu Animation
submenu Coolstuff ."you will name your button items how you
like" ...
main button....lets just say Portfolio !
invisible btn for main button
so now on with the hard stuff
create 20 frames ...stop action on frame 1 ...frame 9
...frame 20
on the labels layer now ....name frame1 "Closed" ...frame 10
"Open"
on the submenu Logos layer ...create a keyframe on frame 10
all frames before the 10th frame will be blank frames
repeat that for the rest of the submenu items
on the main button layer you will just place the main
Portfolio button on frame 1
& on the invisible button layer ..the inv btn is going to
be placed on frame 10
all this is iam hoping your have converted everything into1
symbol
all you need to do know is attach code to the main Portfolio
button & the invisible button
so click on the Portfolio button
on (rollOver) {
gotoAndStop("open");
invisible button
on (rollOver){
gotoAndPlay("closed");
& that should be good ...very simple !
then just repeat this process for every button that makes up
your nav bar ....& it doesn't matter if your inv buttons
overlap each other or your main nav buttons are touching each other

Hi
I am currently making a website and I have created a nav bar
in fireworks using slices and pop-up menus etc. Anyway I have
imported it to my website in Dreamweaver, but I cant figure out how
to make a hyperlink from the from down and nav bar buttons to the
corresponding page. Do I make the links in Fireworks? If so, how?
In Dreamweaver also how?
Any help much appreciated, thanks. It would be easiest to add the hyperlinks in Fireworks, which
you can do in the pop-up menu editor (same place you entered the
text for the buttons).
If you wanted to add the links in Dreamweaver you'd have to
do it in source-code view. Search for the text that you entered for
the button name, and Fireworks should have entered a pound/hash
symbol (#) for your link (don't quote me on that though). Replace
that with your page link and you should be good to go.
Someone should be along shortly to tell you that the
Fireworks menus suck though, so stand by for that. -
Hi, I am trying to create a page that is 800 px wide with a
nav bar that is also 800 px wide but the nav bar seems to increase
by 21px when it is exported out of fireworks and then imported into
dreamweaver. This then forces the rest of the page out by 21px. I
have tried deleting the spacers fireworks creates and just resizing
the table itself but this does not help. I have coloured the
background of the header black to illustrate this. Please find my
problem at

. Thanks in advance>>when it is exported out of fireworks and then

Sorry to say but that is likely the cause of all your
problems. Exporting
anything but single images (i.e. HTML) from Fireworks,
Photoshop, etc. is a
poor practice as those apps create very wonky HTML code. I
suggest you go
back to FW, export single images/slices only and then build
the nav bar in
DW.
But DO NOT use the built-in DW menus either. Either code your
own menus (nav
bar) or use an add-on like the P7 stuff.

Issues "Importing Fireworks HTML"...
Howdy!
I am creating a website in Dreamweaver CS3, and I am currently having some issues importing Fireworks HTML.
Here's some background information with my project...
I began with creating an HTML template in dreamweaver. I then created a Fireworks project with an Image Swap and a drop down menu. I then exported the Fireworks project into HTML (which I used the "Use CSS for Popup Menus" option in the export options). After I use the "Import Fireworks HTML" on my Dreamweaver template in Dreamweaver CS3, the popup menus from the fireworks HTML is placed in very odd positions on the template.
Here are a few pictures to show you what I mean:
This is the exported Fireworks HTML all by itself, in the correct positioning...
This is what it looks like after I use the "Import Fireworks HTML" option in Dreamweaver...
Anyway, in the second picture you can see that I have multiple icons, and these icons also have Fireworks-created popup menus. When I import these separate Fireworks-HTML-created icons individually, it is a non-issue.
Is there a workaround for this issue? Or is this the first time anybody has seen this??
Any answers would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks all!!Which FW? Which DW?

Importing Fireworks CC html into Dreamweaver CC
Hi guys. Hope you can assist.
I have never encountered this problem before. I have always used Fireworks to "cut up" my flat designs from Photoshop, export it as html (nav bars, footers, etc) and then I simply import it into a Dreamweaver html page in which I have created a table.
Now I suddenly have an issue where the Fireworks html table is broken once I import it into Dreamweaver - viewed by itself it's perfect - even in Dreamweaver its perfect. It also adds a space underneath the FW html/table.
Only when I view it in a browser does it appear messed up.
What is causing this?
Thanks in advance. That looks like it could be the browser default text descender padding from the html5 doctype, and/or the IE linked image border.
Add the following to your css...
img {
display:block;
a img {
border:none; -
I have created a site with iWeb. I have replaced the iWeb Nav bar with a vertical one I made myself. Problem is, my top button disables itself (and the animation doesn't work) if it overlaps into the "hidden" nav bar area (indicated by a blue rectangle). I can cmd click and drag it into this area, but then all the rest of my site is pushed down the page. Don't know what to do about this. I don't know how to bring the rest of the page up without dragging it also into the designated nav bar area. Also, by doing this, is it affecting my site in ant way? see my site here at www.steveburrowsimages.com
The home page is with it all draged into the nav bar area and the about page is with is outside the nav bar area (notice that the top button does not animate or work as a button.
Getting confused here. Anyone got any ideas?Well, you made a good start with SEO by getting rid of the iWeb default navigation since it doesn't help the spiders and, out there in the real world, there are more people than you would think with javascript turned off in their browsers.
One of the downsides of iWeb is that it doesn't allow for the alt attribute in the img tag. Its well worth adding these to give you extra keywords even if you have captioned all your images. Use iWeb SEO Tool for this...
http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Search-Engine-Optimization/Tags.html
iWeb, just like most drag and drop software, creates a huge amount of code which causes the pages to load slowly in the browser. Running you files through an optimizer will help to reduce this problem and further reduce the size of image files even beyond the initial optimization you do before loading them into iWeb...

I have built the first handful of pages for a site using DW CS4. I have a couple of glitches that I can't seem to get sorted out.
Here is the site:
http://www.prospectrealty1.fatcow.com/index.html
First question is regarding the main (in the header) navigation bar. I created it by floating css background images and using a:link and a:hover and a:active. It works fine (in firefox) except for one thing. I want the links to be the active(orange) color when the user is on the associated page. So the link for FEATURED is white when up, has the shadow effect on hover and would be the Orange color on down. I can't figure out how to get the down state to work.
Second problem is with the horizontal ul at the very top. It looks fine in Firefox but in IE 8 the right most email link gets put on a second/lower line and that's not good plus it seems to be messing up the nave bar at the bottom of the header.
Any help with this will be very much appreciated.

Hello,
Your CSS is a little out of whack!
To create an active tab/link, make a copy of the portion of your CSS that fires the rollover(hover).
Change the color to orange and name the CSS(selector) like this:
.activeLink and place it in the link of the current page like this, than add the style to this selector that you want the link to have.
Based on your CSS, if it does not work, you should use the CSS !important declaration.
<li id="top-home" class=".activeLink"><a href="/index.html"></a></li>, meaning one per page.
Remember add this style only to the the current page.
There are two reasons why the link above could drop. 1). Not enough space for the amount of text you have, eg: too much margin or padding. 2). If the text are floated, you must clear them or at least clear the email so that it does not wrap around the previous text. Example: Clear none or clear right.

How to get externally made nav bar css into dreamweaver
How do I insert 'purecssmenu' made nav bar into dreamweaver? I have a zip file with just the interactive nav bar in it. There used to be an insert nav bar but that seems to have vanished in cs6 presumably because Adobe want you to use Spry!!!
I am completely new to this game but it is not helpful to be constantly told that you should learn coding.
I just want to make 1 tiny personal site. Any constructive help would be very much appreciated.Sorry you're having such a terrible time not only getting the navbar to work, but interpreting the help here. (That's what it is... help, only you really didn't give us a lot to go on)
You need to do one of two things if you'd like people to stop "guessing" what's wrong with your page.
1.Upload your page to your server and post the URL here so others can download the source code and analyze it.
or
2. Copy and paste your ENTIRE page of code here so it can be seen, downloaded and viewed in someone else's Dreamweaver on their computer. Something like this:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

Nav bars rollover stops working when there is a drop down menu
I am making a navigation bar bar that has about 5 links on it
all with rollovers. Their is one rollover that uses a drop down
menu. That rollover doesn't give me a rollover just a drop down. I
want to have both happen.
Also does anyone know how to keep the rollover in the down
state? I want to make it easy for the user to know where they are
in the site by just glancing at the nav bar.pik80 wrote:

Add a swap image behavior to the button you want to rollover.

Remove the normal state button image from the linked in page.

I re-installed itunes and by this i mean part by part itunes, quicktime and so on. Once I re-installed it looked like all was going well. I went to the store and upload like it use to before the upadtes. Than I pluged my Ipad2 no problem but I went to store once more the problem started agian the up-load was very slow it didn't up load completly. the nav bar on the store page is missing no apps, music, books, tabs are all gone. I think it has to do with the new itunes upates in the last few days. I also did the firewall and anti virus off step no fix and i'm running Norton 2011. Has itunes put any message on this ? Is it only window 7 64bit with the problem ? Oh one more thing I was getting a 3259 error but that looks like is good now, but it did take me a few days to download one book and one app the download is very slow.
Hi,
I am using a Nvidia 4200M adapter in my Laptop, Driver 266.96, Direct X 11
In my desktop I am using an ATI XFX 6950, latest revision drivers (I am not at home right now so I cant get that info).
The issue I did describe above, but it was a long explanation.
In some flash games the game files load initially and get as far as the "click to start" button. Then the flash area usually goes either all white or all black (usually depending on the falsh game default background color) and then it stays that color. Cant see anything after hitting start (usually most games have an intro video or animation before the game starts, but I cant see any of it.
For the very few games that do start, the flash game or application does not seem to work correctly in that when the rare game starts, it wont save any game files or save files to the pc and so if I exit the game (navigate away to another page or close browser) and then later come back, even though I click the option to save games (and ensure that the flash application slider shows it can save files and lots of space) it does not save and I have to start from the beginning all the time.
More explanation I gave above. -
Slicing an image to be used as a nav bar for html email
The html email that I've created renders as designed in most email clients. It doesn't in Outlook 2007. It was suggested that I slice an image for the nav bar so it displays horizontally as designed instead of vertically.
It's been a long time since I used slicing images in Photoshop. It doesn't appear that Image Ready is there anymore. I use Photoshop CS3. Is there a straightforward document that could walk me through the steps to accomplish this? Using the Photoshop "help" confuses the heck out of me and when I asked this question in the Photoshop forum, many looked at it but I've had no responses. Or could it be done in Dreamweaver somehow?
The web version of the html email is: http://www.theshimogaproject.com/email/riverrun-guests-email.htmlYou can't use DW to slice an image. Do you have Fireworks? It's really easy to do it in Fireworks, that's what I would use. If you need to use PhotoShop, a quick Google search, "slicing images in photoshop," return plenty of tutorials that you can choose from.

CS3: Nav bar won't display in Dreamweaver
I'm really new to Flash CS3 and I've created a nav bar with
rollover text buttons. The button links work but the color changes
don't. The big problem, however, is I'm not really sure how to best
move the SWF file over to Dreamweaver. I saved the file, published
the file, and then I exported the SWF file into the Dreamweaver
library. When I drag the file onto my DW page, it's a big gray
square.
What is the optimal method for moving a Flash file into DW?
Do I move it as an image file or a movie file? Is there a ritual
dance I should perform to have the actual image and its buttons
appear on the DW page?
Thanks for any help,
KathyWhich half? The top half? The left half? 8)
Code would help. But you may not like the answer....
