Importing a query from BW to BO Universe

Hi all,
I have few questions about Universe designer.
1) If i have about 40 queries, that are performing good, and created in Bex query designer.
If i have to migrate this queries to BO, what should be the best way.
A) To Import the whole cube in to universe b) to Import just the queries to Universe.
2) When i import a query to the Universe, it is bringing all query elements, except The fiscal year,.
In the above case do i have manually modify the universe, if yes how would i map the newly created values to fiscal year on BW side.

Live Office Returns Unknown Error when doing a Universe Query from Excel

The issue I am having is that every time I do a universe query against any universe (STS Sales, eFashion, etc...), I get the query panel, I choose the dimensions and measures, I click next and the tool returns an Unknown error. This doesn't happen if I import a "part" from a WEBI or Crystal report. It only happens when I do a universe query.
Any thoughts?

Can I use Power Query to Import a table from Excel sheet range which starts not from the top row?

Hi,
Being an experienced Excel user before Power BI, I am just starting to explore the M and Power Query capabilities, and need help already (ain't easy to google this use case somehow):
I need to import the table which sits in the Excel file with header row in the row 17 of Excel sheet, with some metadata header in the preceding rows of the columns A and B.
01: Report name, Quick Report
02: Report Date, 1/1/2014
17: Employee Name, Manager, etc...
18: John Doe, Matt Beaver, etc.
Both (a) direct attempt to load as Excel file and (b) the indirect way through [From Folder] and formula in custom column -- both lead to the same error: "[DataFormat.Error] External table is not in the expected format."
Specifically, I tried to use the [Power Query -> From File -> From Folder] functionality, select an Excel file and add a custom column to access the binary content: [Add Custom Column] with formula "=Excel.Workbook([Content])".
It looks like Power Query expects a rectangular range with headers full-width followed by a contiguous table range to import anything, and refuses to load if that is not the case...
QUESTION: Is there any way to load whatever-formatted data from Excel first, and then manipulate the overall imported range (like referring to rows starting from 17th using "Table.SelectRows" etc.) to read the actual data? Reading and using
the metadata from header would be a bonus, but that comes second... The main issue is to get something from a non-regular Excel file to later work with using M formulae ...

If the Excel workbook is protected by a password, you
cannot open it for data access, even by supplying the correct password with
your connection settings, unless the workbook file is already open in the
Microsoft Excel application. If you try, you receive the following error
message:
Could not decrypt file.
ANSWER: So, will have either weave in the work with temporary unprotected files or requires opening them before updating the data source (although this almost defeats the purpose of automation...)
ANSWER to ORIGINAL QUESTION: password was preventing Power Query from reading the Excel file. For solution see above.

Problem class important error while executing Query from favorites

Hi Experts,
1. I have tried execute the query from favorites it is showing the error message. " Problem class important"
In the message text: logs showing error message [Attached the message screenshot].
2. From "Query Designer" Execute [Ctrl+R] gives the error "500 Internal Server Error" [Attached the screenshot]
3. Able to execute the reports from RRMX.
No ST22 dumps. Can any one suggest about...how to rectify the errors.

Need tyo make sure the problem is with the query/workbook are general issue with all workbooks/query.
1. Make sure the base query of work book is still executable. RRMX/RSRT.
2. Execute the work book in Bex/Excel and look for definition of workbook; there might be some thing in the workbook referencing other than base query.
3. If other workbook are also not working? need to check if other users have same issue.?

WebI:Creating a minus query from data providers not using the same universe

Hi there. A client of ours wishes to use Combined Query on multiple universes in the same WebI report. So far, I have heard it is not feasible in WebI. I know it is possible in DeskI. Even the sub-query option is limited to just one universe in WebI. So, I am stuck.
Is there a workaround to creating a minus query from data providers not using the same universe in WebI?

what are the Datasources ? Usually when you create a Sub Query you can choose a seperate Universe.
Maybe if you only see one Universe you only have the rights for this Universe ?!.

Query from BW executed in BO

Hi!!
I have the following question.
I created a query in BW and when i executed this query en BEX i go to sm66 transaction and i see that my query ran by 200 seconds.
This query have diferent views (diferent format to present the information, example: 1 sheet show the sales by country, another sheet show the sales by region and date, etc).
But, when i executed this query en BO, and i go to sm66 transaction en BW, i can see that my query ran by 200 second (more o less) but then it starts again.
My question is that in BO my query is executed one time by each view that i have.
Can you help me please??
I am using SAP BO XI 3.1 SP3.

Let me explain my problem.
I ran my query in BW (BEX) and its ran good (like 200 seconds).
When i ran the same query in web intelligence (previously i created a bo universe with a conecction reference to its bw query).
My query (in BW and its version in BO) has many ratios or indicators like sales, averages, max and min sales, etc, but when i executed the query in BO and then i go to sm66 transaction in BW, i can see that my query is executed many times.
Its important to say that my universe in bo (that is related to my query in bw) has ratios (its the name in bw) or indicators (the name in bo) with diferents fuctions (database delegated, sum, etc) and in my webi report i created formulas or calculations (through variables) and a i used some breaks.
Before Victor Gabriel told me that If the key figures in the universe are databased delegated and BO report contains sums or breaks or any kind of calculations, BO will have to query BW more than one time. (thakns victor for this information).
This information is available in any standard documentation??
Is any way to avoid the multi refresh query from bo??

if i don't have TEST table on server B whether COPY command will create this table on server B with the same structure ? If you specify CREATE as a clause the table will be created:

I have copies one of the Bex queries using RSZC from the source to Target MP.
While transporting the query from Dev to QA i have got the following error. (I have already moved the Multi Prov in a previous TR)

First of all try to consolidate all your objects in a single TR and then move to Q from D.
In this case check for the list of objects that you have in your TRs. If TR 3 have all the Objects that were in TR1, TR2, then transporting TR3 alone will work.
Also, you can find the information related to the elements that were missed in your TR1,TR2 by following process.
1. Go to your transport Logs and then to the entries marked as Error.
2. There you will find the Query Element Ids, copy them
3. Now, go to Table(Se16) RSZELTDIR, there enter those query elements.
Now, you can able to find the elements that you have missed in your TRs. Hope this helps you.

Re:Error while importing the TP from dev to quality through change request

Hi Guys,
We have implemented change request and upgraded for SP 15 support pack
when the user tries to import through urgent correction by selecting pass correction to test the TP is not getting imported, when i checked the log it is saying
System cancel RFC destination SM_BQ2CLNT100_TRUSTED, Call TMW_SET_PROJECT_SWITCHES: No authorization to logon as trusted system (Trust ed RC=2).
You cannot import any requests for project BD2_P00001 at the moment
Then i went to show project status switches and changed as "Request can be imported" from " request cannot be imported", then the user is able to import the UC from the task list,
But ideally the status switches should be " request cannot be imported" so that the TP can be imported only through change request.
kindly give ur inputs as it is very urgent.

Getting error while import the query in quality server

I am transporting the user group, infoset and query from development system to quality system and i am able to export it successfully but at the time of import from quality system i am getting the error .
please find the attached description of error-
Query z_it0023 of user group HR_CPC (Import option replace)
compare query z_it0023/ HR_CPC <-> Infoset ZHR_REPORT : Field p0002-ZMIDNM is missing
Import fro query Z_IT0023 / HR_CPC cancelled RC = 08.
I am not getting why this error is occur as field P0002-ZMIDNM is alreday present in the infotype and in infoset both.
Please some one help me out , it would be great help for me.

Hi Khush,
You need to check whether the field 'p0002-ZMIDNM' is part of an append structure or include structure. If yes then ensure that the main request for the append/include structure for table P0002 is transported first. If the same has been saved as a local request, then, convert the developments to a request and assign a package to it. Transport the changes to table P0002 and then this request.

2. How can I pass values for the parameters from VBA?
If I open the query usually from SAP-BEX-Toolbar, after selecting the query, I get a parameter mask, where I must put in a value. How can I this automatize from VBA? Has anybody a short samplecode for that?

What I really want to do is write a stand-alone application that I can run from windows scheduler that queries our BW for sales data for certain items (in a tabular form) and pulls that data into a VB recordset, or a .NET dataset so that I can insert the rows into another database (SQL Server, or Access) I already know how to do all the data movement to/from datasets and databases I just cannot figure out how to programmatically grab this sales data from BW our company has workbooks already set up that aggregate WW sales information by region (IE, there is a separate workbook for each region of the world) I can manually go into the Excel interface, tell it which items to pull the sales info for, and it dumps the data into the worksheet (organized by customer, and then by cat #)
So, what Id like to do is write an app that will pull data every week or so from the BW (from each regions sales invoice detail workbook), and insert it into another database that we use for reporting other, non-sales, data.
Thoughts on this ? Is there another, non-BEx method that is better ?

How to import a table from another database using DB toolset.

I would like to import a table from one database to another using DB toolbox.
I do not want to import all data to LV and then save them to another database. Instead I would prefer to use SQL syntax.
Does anobody know how to write SQL command to import whole table from one database to another?
I have found in some SQL manual that INSERT INTO should work, but JET4 returns an error that table (e.g. c:\mydatabase\table1) can not be found.

Import Web Page content into table, like Excel imports a Frame from a page

I have a need to import specific content from a web page (specific frame on the page) and store that data in a table. We currently have Microsoft Excel setup with a link to the page and import a specific frame off the page into Excel. But I would like to do this directly into PeopleSoft. Has anyone done something like this before?

You haven't explained what the format of the text file is and
how you want to display it. You can get the contents of a file with
CFHTTP (if it's in a web-readable directory) and treat it as a
query if it is in a delimited data format. Then you can use
CFOUTPUT as you would with any other query.
You can also use CFFILE to read the contents of a text file
and display it in your page. You can use HTML PRE tags or you can
replace the CR/LF with a BR tag to force a line break.. Lots of
options, depending on your particular situation.

How to transfer ABAP query from one server to another server

I have a ABAP query in development server and i need to transport it to production server.
I have attached a transaction to it using the program which got generated in the back ground
from the abap query in the developemnt server.
I have downloaded and uploaded a ABAP query from one server to another server.
But the program which got generated in the back ground in the production server is different from
program which is generated in the development server.
But my transaction is attached to the program in the development server.If i transport the transaction
to production server,it is giving error since that program is not present in the production server.
Am i going in the right way......?
Is there any problem in my upload/download procedure ?
Is there any way to achieve my purpose ...............?

You have different ways to call a query using a t.code. One way is to create a pgm with the following code and attach a t-code to it.

Alternate way is while creating T-Code you choose option Transaction with parameters.
Transaction as START_REPORT and in default values table control at bottom give as follows

D_SREPOVARI-EXTDREPORT = Your Query name

Hi,
If you dont want to create any transport request number then you need to download/upload the query instead of import/export.
Please follow the below steps for downloading/uploading the query
(Go to the system from where you wnat to export the query)
1. Goto transaction SQ02.
2. Click on ' Transports' icon (CTRL+F3).
3. In 'Transport action' select 'Download'.
4. Select 4th radio button 'Transport Queris'.
5. Enter the name your user group and query and click on execute.
6. Give the file name and location where you want to save the query backup and click on save.
(Now goto the system where you want to import your query)
1. Goto SQ02 and click on 'Transports' .
2. In 'Transport action' select 'Upload' and click on execute.
3. Enter/select the name of the file which you have downloaded before and click open.
