Importing an undefined number of columns/rows

hi,
i am facing one problem, i am selecting small data range, and at the time of any updation (xml to swf autoupdate) it is not showing new data,i have to expand the data selection range mannualy. so i can get that new data on my live screen.
so, anyone can hepl me regarding this problem of expand the data selection automatically
thank you,
Jindal

I'm having this same issue.  This application is running against a data warehouse with an unknown return set of data (the rows are certainly unknown, columns are more often "known").
Does this mean that we need to create a dummy set of data that can reach the "limits" of our expected bind range?
Is there an easy way to simply update the range in the xml url ?   Or does the full dataset need to be there when i import an xml url?
What is the application (xls or Xcelsius) limit on the number of rows that CAN be returned via XML maps?
What is the limit to the number of rows that can be bound to an Xcelsius object?
Since Excel expands the rows in the range on refresh, I dont see why BO cannot enhance the product to do the same (at least on the row level).  I am very concerned that reporting will be inaccurate because data is simply dropped due to this limitation.

  • Report with undefined number of columns

    Hello,
I'm using VB.NET and Crystal Reports 2008 for my Windows application.
I've a new report to implement. It's a budgetting report in a table form, which shows the amount of money allocated to a certain projects over a range of years. In each row I show the different projects, in each column I show the budget of each project per year. Users can select the number of years to print (as a parameter), that means, the number of columns is dynamic.
My question is, how am I going to design this report? Will cross-tab help? My report will be in landscape format. The page width is enough for 8 columns, i.e. 8 years can be printed per table. If users choose to print more than 8 years, the "extra" columns should be printed on a new table underneath the one with the first 8 years, or on a new page if there's not enough space underneath.
Your help and suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.
    Agnes

Please note, this forum is dedicated to topics related to custom application development or deployment with Crystal Reports in .Net. This includes full versions of Crystal Reports as well as those versions of Crystal Reports bundled with Microsoft Visual Studio .Net.
As your query concerns design of an actual report, you should be posting your query to the Crystal Reports Design forum:

  • How can I add the number of columns/row starting with the build in "Text Report" example in the LabVIEW

    Hi All,
I am wondering how can I add the numbers of row and column from the existing build-in "text report"
VI ? If possible, would you mind showing me step-by-step because I am a new user and I am not familiar with the labview software.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Easy text Report is for saving to a file. Do you mean you just want to add the totals of two arrays and write that? In that case I would just append the totals before writing to file.

  • Number of columns of the rows in a ResultSet?

    Hello
Is there any way to get the amount of columns of the rows in a ResultSet? The values of the columns might be empty, so wasNull() wont work?
    Thanks

Yes, you can see the number of columns and lots of other info, see ResultSetMetaData. Example:
    ResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery("...");
    ResultSetMetaData rsmd = rs.getMetaData();
System.out.println("Number of columns: " + rsmd.getColumnCount());Look it up in the API documentation.

  • Can we create JTable with multiple rows with varying number of columns ?

    Hi All,
I came across a very typical problem related to JTable. My requirement is that cells should be added dynamically to the JTable. I create a JTable with initial size of 1,7 (row, columns) size. Once the 7 columns are filled with data, a new row should be created. But the requirement is, the new row i.e. second row should have only one cell in it initially. The number of cells should increase dynamically as the data is entered. The table is automatically taking the size of its previous row when new row is added. I tried by using setColumnCount() to change the number of columns to '1' for the second row but the same is getting applied to the first row also.
So can you please help me out in this regard ? Is it possible to create a JTable of uneven size i.e. multiple rows with varying number of columns in each row ?
    Thanks in Advance.

Well a JTable is always going to paint the same number of columns for each row. Anything is possible if you want to rewrite the JTable UI to do this, but I wouldn't recommend it. (I certainly don't know how to do it).
A simpler solution might be to override the isCellEditable(...) method of JTable and prevent editing of column 2 until data in column 1 has been entered etc., etc. You may also want to provide a custom renderer that renderers the empty column differently, maybe with a grey color instead of a white color.

  • How to transpose rows to multiple dynamic number of columns

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to transpose the rows in single column to multiple columns. The columns are not fixed.
    A table called XX_PRODUCT_SIZE.
The data in the table are,
    PRODUCT_NO SIZE PRESSURE
    P1 1 100
    P1 1 200
    P1 2 100
    P1 2 300
    P1 3 300
The data in the table are not fixed with respect to size and pressure. In future the product P1 may have size 4 with new pressure 900.
Now I want to convert these rows into multiple columns.
    So it should be,
    PRODUCT_NO SIZE_1 SIZE_2 SIZE_3 PRESSURE_100 PRESSURE_200 PRESSURE_300
    P1 TRUE TRUE TRUE
    P1 TRUE TRUE TRUE
    P1 TRUE TRUE
I tried many ways of writing using CASE, MAX with rownumber over partition by etc. but which will not work for me as the rows are not fixed to compare.
Can you please help me writing a query which transpose rows to columns dynamically. My intention is to create a materialized view for this XX_PRODUCT_SIZE table with transposing columns.
    I am using 10g DB
    Thank You

    Hi,
If the number of columns in a query has to be figured out at run-time, then you need dynamic SQL. See the froum FAQ {message:id=9360005} for links to examples.
You might find it easier to create one big column that looks like a variable number of columns. SELECT ... PIVOT can do this with XML output. String aggregation is another way; see {message:id=3527823} .
    ManjuNaik88 wrote:
... I saw Oracle 11g Pivot can be used. "PIVOT" is still not working
SELECT ... PIVOT works. If it's not doing what you the way you're uisng it, then just change how you're using it.
(You don't expect a mor precise answer with just that information, do you?)

when I try to open Firefox. I have had to go back to using Internet Explorer - Tried everything suggested including deleting then reinstalling Firefox, but still cannot get Firefox to open - help!

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default (your profile folder with bookmarks etc. WILL NOT BE DELETED):
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

You don't need the Firefox Sync 1.7 extension with Firefox 4, Sync is a built in feature. Uninstall that extension and that error message shouldn't appear.

  • SSIS: Count number of columns

    Hi,
I am processing flat files and I want to make sure that my files will contain the number of columns I expect, because a user might some day input a file with a new column format. If the file does not contain the correct number of columns, process must stop.
I am planning to input the expected of columns in a User Variable.
But how do I test for the number of columns in the file, and do I stop the execution?
Be precise please (do I work in the control flow? in the Data flow?).
    Thanks in advance.
    Paul

    Dear Pauldube
    I think Arthurz is right
     (1) First
take  one package level variable for storing length of Header row of each and every file
    Eg.
    Variable Name = FileRowLen
    Variable Type = Integer
    (2) Take one script task and Add FileRowLen
variable to readwritevariables then edit script
    Add below code :
    Dim FileRowStack as string()
    FileRowStack = System.IO.File.ReadAllLines(FileSource)
‘–File source is string variable contain filepath that you want to import
    Dts.variables(“FileRowLen”).value = FileRowStack(0).length
    (3) Now open precedence constraint editor then
    Eveluation operation :  Expression
    Expression  :  @FileRowLen =
-- Header length of file which would you like to process
    Multiple constraints : Logical or….
    Press OK
    Connector will looks
