Importing and stabilizing footage from Pre Pro CC to AE cc.

Greetings to all you aftereffects and premiere Pro cc experts.  I have a question that is probably very easy to answer, but for the life of me I can't figure it out.  I have some footage that was poorly shot that was given to me that runs about 60 minutes in length.  I need to stabilize about three minutes of that footage in the middle.  How do I go about getting just that three minutes into aftereffects to stabilize it?  Do I need to cut the footage and then render out just those three minutes?  When I try to import it now into aftereffects and apply the stabilization feature it tries to analyze the entire 60 minutes.  Also, any help that you can offer on the best way to stabilize footage in general would be appreciated.

While Sz is correct, I usually find it best to restrict stabilization to a specific clip instead of relying on Premiere's interactivity with AE.
So.
Yes, trim the small section and make that three minutes a completely separate and self-contained movie.
STabilizing is a complicated art these days because there are so many options. I like Warp Stabilizer but the process may take several attempts for you to get what you want. Stabilized footage requires rotation and horizontal and vertical movement. How well and thoroughly these characteristics are processed are user adjustable although the results are not always predictable. Stabilization will lead to scaling the media to fill the screen and the smoothness of the changes is totally adjustable, too.

  • What is the best way to import and export footage from the 5D Mark II?

    Hello,
I've just finished shooting what I am considering to be my directorial masterpiece.  Shot it on the Canon 5D (1080p, 24fps), and the footage looks amazing.  Now I am ready to start editing and have been using premiere lately, but I have yet to figure out the proper pipeline.  I want to know the best way to retain resolution before I delve into this project.
    My questions:
    1)  What is the best way to start a new project and import the footage without having to render whilst editing, so as to retain all resolution and originality of the source footage?
    2)  What is the best way/ codec/ format to export this same footage once editing is complete so as to retain that crisp 1080p for which the 5D is so recognized?
    3)  What is the best way/ codec/ format to import and export/ render between premiere and after effects?  I am speaking mostly of vfx and color correction.  I also have some 30fps footage that I intend to slow down in AE and then import into premiere.
I know this is pretty broad, but as a solo filmmaker I really need someone's guidance.  I rarely ever finish my films with the same, crisp look as the footage.  I need pipeline help, and really appreciate it!

    1. Follow the advice above. Also use the Media Browser to import the footage in case you have spanned media files. Import files with the Media Browser.
    2. It largely depends on what you wish to ouput to: Blu-ray, web, etc. This FAQ gives the best answer: What are the best export settings?
    3. Use the Replace with Adobe After Effects Composition function.

  • Importing and editing footage with two different cameras

I am editing a film that has footage caught and imported from two different cameras. Some of the footage is from a handheld HD camera that I have worked with before and use an "Easy Setup of Apple Intermediate Codec, 29.97 fps, HDV Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60." I want to add some video footage that I shot with my Canon Rebel t2i. I searched a number of threads and concluded that when working with a project shot with the t2i, I should have the the Easy Setup be "HD, 29.97fps, DVCPRO HD 1080p30" (side question: is this correct?). My question is when starting a project where I will be using footage from both cameras, what Easy Setup should I use and is there anything else I should keep in mind?

Shane-- Thanks for the willingness to help. I am in Helena, but travel all over the state for work--I am a fly fishing and bird hunting guide who likes to do some amateur filming and editing on the side. Love Missoula, Bozeman, Flathead area, etc! And since you are willing to be so helpful, I guess I should start with a go Cats!
I am brand new to FCP, having previously worked a fair amount with FCE4. I actually do have FCP 7 and work with it on my Macbook Pro. My handheld camera is a JVC Everio that captures in AVCHD (1920x1080). I had my Easy Setup in FCE4 as Apple Intermediate Codec. If I use footage from this camera in FCP7, should I continue to do this?
So not only am I new to FCP7, but I just bought the T2i and really am not totally sure what I am doing yet. I just got the Canon EOS Movie Plug-in and modified it according to some threads I read so that it works for the T2i. I also found directions on the Canon website on the proper way to Log and Transfer for T2i footage (side question: can I dump the files off my T2i onto an external HD and then Log and Transfer them into FCP7 from the external, and is there anything I need to know about when doing this?)
So now that you know that I am very knew to FCP7 and the T2i, maybe I should start from scratch. When I log and transfer, what format should I use when I transcode? ProRes 442? And then, however you suggest I should transcode, what should my Easy Setup look like for footage from the T2i?
Wow, if you are still reading at this point, and I haven't exhausted you with all of my questions and naivety, my final question is...once I have become comfortable with importing and editing footage from the T2i, what should I do if I want to log and transfer and then edit footage from both cameras? Do I need to change the Easy Setup? Do I need to make other changes?
Thanks again in advance for all of your help and patience!!!

  • How do I Import footage from Premier Pro CS3 to After Effects?

    Hi
As the subject says, how do I import footage from premier pro cs3 into after effects. I'm getting rather frustrated trying to figure this out.
Via copy & paste I can copy into after effects but this copys the whole of the track on the timeline, where as I just want 10 seconds copied. The 10 seconds I want to copy is a segment & was highlighted when I clicked copy.
Also when the full track gets copied, all my edits aren't copied & I get the raw track copied???
I've googled this, tried the "Add Dynamic Link" but all I want is to copy 10 seconds of footage from premier into after effects, add my effect & then copy it back, and I can't figure out how to do this simple thing
    Any help
    Thanks.

I am still not getting this.
I highlight the selection I want to copy into after effects. I copy & paste it & it pastes my entire footage without any off the edits I have made.
Having searched loads for this I can find no other answer than copy & paste.
Please please could you guy be more specific with your answers as I just can't figure this one?

  • When importing files into fcpx from go pro hero2, some are importing as .mov and some as .mp4. when making a multi cam clip it will only add one type, if you try and add the other it says camera clip cannot be processed.

when importing files into fcpx from go pro hero2, some are importing as .mov and some as .mp4. when making a multi cam clip it will only add one type, if you try and add the other it says camera clip cannot be processed. need to figure out why it randomly imports differently, or how to add different file tyoes to multi cam.

here is one that is imported and stays .mp4. the specs are same as original file before import.
here is one that has changed somehow during import. specs on original file are same as above, but once it is imported it changes to this in event folder, and others randomly keep the above specs.

  • New document about sequence presets and codecs missing from Premiere Pro

If you're having problems with sequence presets and codecs missing from Premiere Pro, see this document for solutions for this activation issue.
This document relates to the following problems:
    - missing sequence presets when creating a new sequence
    - Encore error: "Encore will not launch in non-royalty bearing mode. The application needs to be serialized with a royalty bearing serial number."
    - When opening a project in Premiere Pro: "Error Adobe Premiere Pro: This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."
    - When importing footage, the footage is missing audio or video.
These failures are all because Premiere Pro and Encore use some codecs that require activation before they can be used. If activation of these codecs has failed, these codecs will not be available to use.

    Well done.

  • IPhoto and photos wanished from MacBook Pro with OSX10.9

iPhoto and photos wanished from MacBook Pro. Apple just offer to buy iPhoto.
The laptop was baught in 2010 with OS X ~10.6. Now it has OS X 10.9. I do not know how to recover the application and files.
    Thanks for your help

If iPhoto came pre installed then go to the App Storel, sign in with the Apple ID you used to purchase the MBP or register it.  Go to the Purchases section and you should be able to download it again at no charge.

  • Log and transfer footage from Panasonic GH1 into FCE

I have already read the few threads discussing importing AVCHD video from the Panasonic GH1 camera into FCE. I was expecting that the 1080x24 (wrapped in 60i) would import OK but the 720x60p would not. However, so far, I have had both formats import using the log and transfer just fine. These have been only short clips roughly a minute or less in length but no sign of FCE crashing when importing the 60p footage.
So, is this considered normal or has something in the most recent OSX updates fixed this FCE capability?

The program is usually able to ingest 24p and 60p footage fine, but upon exporting it will be conformed to the frame rate of your sequence. Since FCE doesn't support custom sequences all exported movies are either in 29.97fps or 25fps. Problems also sometimes arise where the program interprets your footage as 29.97fps instead of what it actually is, causing the audio to drift a bit as well.
Better to stick to what the program supports: 50i/25p and 60i/30p. If you need the functionality of 24p or 60p you should upgrade to Final Cut Pro.

  • Getting audio from Pre Pro into AE for Music Video

Hello All,  My situation is this.
I'm doing a Dance remix Music video.  The original song was a ballad. The footage used for the Dance Mix consists of both the ballad clips sped up (ballad music was at 61 beats per minute) and footage shot to the dance track (127 BPM) all of which is Green screen.
The way that I approached it was to put the .wav song on one track in Pre Pro and then I synced up the rough mix edit clips to the main music track, time stretching the Ballad clips, making the mouth movements match and body movements move in rhythm.  After I got all my rough edits done I discarded their audio tracks as I thought that I would not need them further, and it was too many tracks to look at (Pre Pre could use a Shy switch).  So I ended up with one Audio track and 12 Video tracks, each track containing one pass of the filming.
Then I selected each rough edited clip and used "Replace with an AE composition".  In AE I then did my green screen keying.  One Scene I created was a composited club scene in AE where the artist is on a stage and there are flashing lights behind her using several instances of CC Light Sweep on a Solid Layer.  When I Dymically Linked back to Premiere the light sweeps were not in rhythm with the music as I had no audio to listen to in AE.
Its a lot of render time tweaking in AE and then going to Pr Pro and having to wait for more rendering to see the results.
My Question is how would I go about  putting the audio track into the AE Linked comp.  The song is over 5 minutes and most of the clips are a few frames to a couple of seconds long.
I think my approach was wrong in the first place and that I should have made an AE project the length of the song and done all my editing and compositing in that one Comp instead of putting things in Pr Pro first, which now makes sense, since I don't see any benefit of being in Pre Pro at this time.  And I don't see any way of including part of the audio track when making the AE Linked comp.
    Thanks

Export just the audio track from Pr as a .wav file and then add it as a layer in your AE comp.
Cutting is much easier in Pr, especially the audio.  The first time you try cutting audio to video in AE, you'll know what I mean.

  • Porblems importing Canon C300 footage into Premiere Pro CC 2014: only import 30 seconds

Hi! I'm having problems importing Canon C300 footage into Adobe Premiere Pro 2014. I'm taking the files directly from the media browser to I can only import the first 30 seconds of each clip.
Why can be that? Do I need a specific plugin?
    Thaks for your help

Since you did not perform the copy process yourself, my thinking is that maybe something went wrong when it was done.  Far too many people don't understand or follow the process that works.
My recommendation would be to get your hands on the cards and do it again, making sure to use only Explorer or Finder for the task.

  • Import AVCHD video footage into Premier Pro CS6 - MAC - AUDIO MISSING!

    Hi,
Ive been attempting to import AVCHD video footage captured on a Panasonic into Premier Pro CS6 on my MacPro. I've tried this from the camera and after copying the entire folder to my desktop. The footage is there, but has no audio! I have read loads, forums, advice, YouTube vids and Adobe manuals, trouble shooting and help, but found no simple answer to this simple issue.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks too Jeff. Sandeep's post is a simple redirect to a post on Adobe which naturally I've already read before turning to the forum. The link then sends you to another link! Info. is too light on specifics, doesn't help! I have 6.0.5 as downloaded from Adobe... no joy! All remains the same, picture but still no audio! Maybe a compatibility issue with Panasonic's HC X900... but Panasonic's website is as light on info. as Adobe. I'm off to the shop to buy FCP or Avid.

  • Workflow process import and compress footage in compressor for FCP

What is the workflow to import footage from Panasonic H2 camera to compress to Apple Pro Res 422 codec?

    Open Compressor.
Drag your footage into the dropzone on the upper left.
Look in the SETTINGS area in the OTHER WORKFLOWS>Advanced Format Conversions>Apple Codecs for the ProRes 422 for Progressive.  Drag that setting onto your clips.
    Press SUBMIT.
Move the resulting compressed files to where you want them to be on your media drive.  Get rid of the added naming Compressor puts on there (Apple ProRes 422)...then bring into FCP.
    Very simple.
