Importing / Creating an attachment from SWIA

Experts,
I need to attach a document to an existing workflow that is at a waiting for event step. in SWIA technical workitem display there is a
menu item that has "Workitem->Attachments->Create" but it is grayed out. Any Idea on how I can attach a document to an existing workflow via swia?

Hi Jim,
Hmm, I suppose there is some way of loading the attachment into a SOFM object but I don't know it.
If it was a Decision step you could forward it to yourself (temporarily) and add an attachment. Is there a Decision step further downstream in that workflow?

In my requirement, i have single member in Source file which i have to split into 4 filds (Target dimension)

I am new to FDM and VB so realised it later that actually , Script name is the VB Functiona name and thats where Value should be returned.

Create attachment from url

I want in Siebel to be able to create an attachment from a BI Publisher report. This report is generated via an url.
In Siebel, if I click on the 'New File' button and then paste the url in the 'select file' field in the popup screen, the attachment is created. However, I want to automate this.
My first try was creating a button with the following script behind it

This script returns an error as it seems that CreateFile can not save attachments through http.
My question now is if there is some way to save attachments through http via scripting.

You can attach a file by script, using the follow line:
fileBC.InvokeMethod ("CreateFile", "C:\Demo\Image.bmp", "AccntFileName", "Y");Where the fileBC is the attachment Business Component that you want to import the file.

HT2488 I imported pictures into iPhoto from my iPhone, when trying to find my pictures by clicking on iPhoto Library it is always empty. I had to create a new folder and copy the same exact pics in the new folder just to be able to access them.. help plea

I imported photos into iPhoto from my iPhone, however i cannot access them. When clicking on iPhoto Library where they should be stored the folder is blank but if i open up iphoto from the dock menu they appear. I had to create a new folder just to access them. help please, because making a new folder takes up unnecessary space.

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File: a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. 3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

There is an option of embedding index for faster search while converting email to a PDF .
However I am not sure that will serve your purpose or not .
I would recommend you to get in touch with Microsoft support as well .
Meanwhile I'll work on it and get back to you in case I get a desired solution .

You may need a version without macros on it. Unfortunately, pretty much all apps are skinned down versions of their original program, often with less functionality. For example in a word document I can italicize,bold and underline, but I only have a handful of fonts to play with and I don't think I can insert tables or images.
It is very possible that the app simply cannot run macros, which means that document may never work on an iPad.

Help Please - having difficulties creating af link from the text to an attached file i acrobat

I have been reading the help, but it just wonn't work when I try.
I have tried as followed (I am working with a danish version, and hope to matched the same word as in the english version of Acrobat Xpro):
1. From the toolbox i choose content and then 'hyperlink'
2. I mark the text from which i wish to make a link
3. Acrobat respond with an popup picture 'create a link'
4. From the popup I mark 'Open a side' and push 'next'
5. Acrobat respond with a new popup picture 'create / go to a side'
6. I go to the navigator and open the list with attached file's that I have embedded in my acrobat file.
7. I mark the to which i wish to make a link to
8. In the popup 'create / go to a side' that stilll is open, i push 'Mark hyperlink'
Then I hoped that I have created a link from the acrobat text to the attached file. In stead Acrobat has made a link to the same sidenumber that respond to the text from which i wish to make a link . F.ex. the linktext is on side 10 - then the link goes to side 10.
How do i do it right?
Please help.

This corresponds to the text I have tried myself, but apparently I do something wrong
1.      Open a PDF that contains a PDF file attachment – done
2.      Go to where you want to create a link. If that location is in the file attachment, click the Attachments button in the navigation pane, select the file attachment, and click open.
Here I go to side number 10 from which I wish to make a link from (I am not open the attachment file at this moment, as the location not is inside the file attachment).
(I earlier also tried to mark the attachment file and click open, and It result that the attached file just opened normally without creating a link to the file).
3.      Choose Tools > Content > link, and select the area for the link
Here I mark the text on side 10 from which I wish to make a link to a attached file
4.      In the Create Link dialog box, set the link appearance, select Go To A Page View, and then click Next
Here I have selected ‘Go to a page view’ as told and I click Next
5.      Set the page number and view magnification you want, either in the parent PDF document or in the file attachment, and then click set link.
Here I go to the navigation pane and mark the attached file from the file list (the files in the list hasn’t any side number in the list) and then I click Set Link.
Then I hoped that I have created a link from the acrobat text to the attached file. In stead Acrobat has made a link to the same sidenumber that respond to the text from which i wish to make a link . F.ex. the linktext is on side 10 - then the link goes to side 10.
What do I do wrong.?

Creating multiple records from 1 record in the source file for Import DM

Hi Experts,
Today I am working on an interface/import where I want to get the following result:
Source file contains a records like:
Account, Entity, DriverX
Sales,EntityA,ZZ
The BPC appset contains the 2 dimensions Account and Entity next to CostCenter dimension. The DriverX field in the source file is just additional information in the source file. However based on this DriverX we need to determine what CostCenter to choose but we also need to have the same record assigned to a second record in BPC.
Following my example, based on DriverX value I need to create 2 records:
Account, Entity, CostCenter,
Sales,EntityA,CC1
Sales,EntityA,CC2
I don't have a problem assigning the record to 1 CostCenter based on DriverX value but I have a problem creating my second record. Does any of you have had the same "challenge" and if so would you like to share the solution for this?

Many thanks for your answer. And yes this would be a solution. However I just simplified my case as the decision to create an second record and where to post is depending on more than 1 field in the source.
But I will keep it in mind, because I also can opt for a solution to store data differently in BPC fac-tabels which will help me to use script logic.
If it is not possible to create multiple records from a single records in the standard functionality in the Transformation and/or Conversion file, I have to create a custom DTSX or change my way of storing data.
Anyone else who is having an alternative idea like Greg came up with?

How to detect whether a database was created by Restoring (from SQL Server Enterprise Manager) or by Attaching (from SQL Server Enterprise Manager)

Ours is a SQL Server Express Edition 2008-R2 - Windows Forms based application. We have a backup/restore utility provided with our software which performs some logical checks before restoring a backup to ensure that the backup is functionally valid.
However, our clients often use the SQL Server Enterprise Manager utility to 1) Restore backups or 2) Attach data files (kept aside before formatting) directly. This type of action bypasses all our functional checks and allows the user to restore an invalid
backup.
We want to detect that a database was restored/attached and may be we will stop the software from loading if such a thing happened. We think that this information (attach/restore) should be available within some table of SQL Server itself but don't know the
right location/query.
If any change is required in our software to achieve the above, we are ready to do the same too, e.g. may be we need to store some data at some point of time to make the detection happen, please advise.
So, how can we detect that
A database backup was restored using SQL Server Management Utility
(Note: MSDB.Restorehistory may not be a good option as we have often found this table blank for unknown reasons even after backup was restored and just in case user restores the MSDB from MSDB backup or MSDB template due to a data corruption, may be due to
abnormal shutdown of system, then the RestoreHistory table data is gone)

For Enterprise edition, we can enable Auditing to audit BACKUP_RESTORE_GROUP in a server audit specification. However, SQL Server audit (fine-grained auditing) feature is not available for the SQL Server Express.

Attachments and instance size ? (Attaching from Global Create)

Is it true that if you want to allow users to make attachments from Global Create, you must set your "MAX Instance Size" to be at least as big as the Attachments coming in?
In Global Create, if you want to allow user to make attachments, it seems (from the documentaiton and the sample projects) that you must have an argument to recieve the binary data, and a corresponding instance variable to which it is mapped to. Then after the Begin activity, you can create the attachment using the instance variable.
Is there some other way to do this without instance variables holding the binary data?
Also, making the instance variable "SEPARATED" is not a solution, because there is a max size of 2Mb on separated instance variables. I am anticipating attachments up to 100Mb

We found a workaround that works in Studio workspace. We are getting ready to deploy it to our ALBPM server and test it there.
Workaround:
Instead of passing attachment (binary data and file names) to process via Process Arguments, then mapping the arguments to instance variables, then creating attachment from instance variables, we use the Fuego.Io.BinaryFile.
there are 2 methods on this we use:
1) writeFromBinaryTo
2) readToBinaryFrom
So from the screenflow in the global create, we have screenflow level variables receiving the binary data and filenames from the posted JSP. In the screenflow, we then use "writeFromBinaryTo" method of BinaryFile object and for the 'name' paramter, provide a full path on the server to where we want the file written.
then we pass a string containing the file's full path as an argument to the process, mapped to an instance variable.
Then, after instance is created, we have an automatic that uses local a variable (not instance variables) to hold Binary data and filenames. We then use "readToBinaryFrom" method of BinaryFile object, again using the string containing the full path to the file on the server, as the "name" parameter to the method. This method returns a object represting the binary data. then you can use the "create attachment" code, passing in the binary data and file name to create the instance attachment.
Finally, we do some cleanup by deleting the file that was uploaded to the server (delete method of Fuego.File)
So in summary, instead of passsing the filename and binary data as arguments to the process, we basically are using fuego object to do a file upload to the server, then after instace created, we get reference to file on server and create attachment from there. Now our instance size can be small, but process can still handle large attachments.

Thanks Terence, I rebuilt my database....I was not aware that I could access rebuild tools by holding the command and options buttons. Like I said, I'm new to Mac. I was able to recreate my missing photo's but they aren't the same pixel quality as the originals, look kind of blurry....any thoughts on this???

Get manual attachment from a report

Hi all,
I have a problem when trying to retrieve from a report the manual attachments of an SD invoice. Though I'm using a SD invoice, I guess is the same for any object.
I usually use this way to get attachments from objects:
1º ARCHIV_GET_CONNECTIONS -> Attachment info
2º ARCHIVOBJECT_GET_DT_VIA_TABLE or ARCHIVOBJECT_GET_TABLE -> Attachment data
3º Then download, email... or do whatever you want with the files.
My problem now is, if I go inside an invoice and create an attachment manually, then it does not show up on TOA01 or on FM ARCHIV_GET_CONNECTIONS.
Do you know a way to get these manual created attachments or at least where are they stored?

1º Get the attachments info. In my case, as I told, are SD Invoices so class is VBRK
