Importing .eex using Java Command Line on Unix (Licence required?)
Hiall,
We're looking into scripting our deploy process to reduce the amount of manual intervention required. We'll be importing the eex from a Unix box and was wondering what the licencing restrictions are on using the Java Command Line tools.
Do we need a licence for them? Which kind? Desktop or Administrator?
We already have Desktop licences but would rather not have to buy an additional one just for this process.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Hi
The Java Command Line Utility for the EUL is licensed with the Admin edition so you'll need to purchase at least one Admin license (at current prices these are $5,000 per administrator).
Personally, I've always found scripting to be as much a manual process as entering the Admin tool and using the GUI interface.
Best wishes
Michael

Simple Java Command-Line on Unix Question
From the windows shell, the following command works fine:
java -classpath MyJar.jar;. Test
The class Test, in the current director, depends on files in MyJar.jar. However, when I open up the cygwin bash shell and try to execute the same command, I get this error:
bash: /usr/bin/Test: No such file or directory
It appears it's looking for Test in /usr/bin as opposed to in the current directory. Why is this happening and how can I get this to work in bash?
I know it's kind of unix question, but I figured some one here could help.
TIA,
JohnHow can I use aboslute classpaths within bash. For
example, what it the bash equivalent of the
following:
java -classpath C:/Java;C:/Java/MyJar.jar Testjava -classpath /the/path/to/your/Java:/the/path/to/your/MyJar.jar Test
Normally you will be using things relative to your home directory so yo can use
java -classpath ~ /the/relative-path/to/your/Java:~/the/relarive-path/to/your/MyJar.jar Test
or
java -classpath $HOME/the/relative-path/to/your/Java:$HOME/the/relative-path/to/your/MyJar.jar Test
Please don't use these blindly. Spend some time (half a day say) looking at the bash shell! -
Import biar file with command line
Hi
I am trying to import biar file with command line on unix environment with BOXI R3.1 and Oracle DB
The biar file include one universe and it's connection (eFashion), one report and one user
when I run the command line:
java -jar /BO/boxi/bobje/java/lib/biarengine.jar /BO/boxi/test.properties
I recive the following error:
Failed to commit objects to server : Undefined Info Store error
An error occurred at the server during security batch commit:
Request 6 of type 36 failed with server error : Object not found (1433)
Request 11 of type 36 failed with server error : Object not found (1433)
Request 20 of type 38 failed with server error : Object not found (1433)
Request 26 of type 38 failed with server error : Object not found (1433)
Do you have any idea , what is the problem?
Thank youHi Denis
I found out after I create a biar file ,with only the user, through a command line. that the user did import since it was in a concurrent connectiontype , a type that not exit in the target environment.
But after I fix this in the source environment and saw that a biar file with only the user is loaded , I recreate the biar file with all the objects as before (user, universe, report , folder) and I still got the same error message as before.
So now I try to create the biar file with all those object through the command line. and I get a new errer message "Required dependencies not found on target system : '[AZK_.9sbf_lMgdQRpsbZfVw]"
I check it , and understand that the object is the report , but I do not see what missing..... : (
Those are the quries in the properties file:
exportQuery= SELECT * FROM CI_APPOBJECTS where si_kind = 'Universe' and si_name='eFashion'
exportQuery= SELECT * FROM CI_APPOBJECTS WHERE SI_ID in ( 894,926)
exportQuery= SELECT * from CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE SI_KIND = 'user' and SI_Name='repadmin'
exportQuery= SELECT * FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE si_kind= 'Folder' and SI_name = 'test'
exportQuery= SELECT * FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_ID IN (2188)
Can you tell what is missing? -
Can I use the Command Line Interface on Unix?
Hi,
We use 9iAS on Unix. We want to use Discoverer Command Line Interface on unix to export the worksheet query result. Can anyone know how to do this? I couldn't find out the command similar to dis5usr.exe for windows version.
Thanks.
Richard QiuHello Richard
You can use the Discoverer EUL Command Line for Java utility. This was released with Discoverer 10g (9.0.4).
Please refer to the documentation for more information on how to use this command line interface: 'Oracle Discoverer EUL Command Line for Java User's Guide 10g (9.0.4), Part No. B10274_01 (PDF)' The document is available from OTN at http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/discoverer.html

Thank youHI
Pricing will be carried basing on the pricing
procedure.
Case1: Prices will be carried out automatically if
necessary condition records are maintained for the
condition type.
For this you can go to Sales Order-> Item Conditions
In the screen you can click on command button Analysis,
which gives you the list of condition types associated
to the pricing procedure. By clicking on the condition
type you can know the action that has taken place.
Case2: Manually forcing prices for Items.
To do this, you have to populate ORDER_CONDITIONS_IN &
ORDER_CONDITIONS_INX. Also note to identify the item
numbers, you manually pass the item number for each item
in the sales order, use the same item number for
populating conditions.
Parameters required:
ORDER_CONDITIONS_IN:
ITM_NUMBER, COND_TYPE, COND_VALUE, CURRENCY
ORDER_CONDITIONS_INX:
ITM_NUMBER, COND_TYPE, UPDATEFLAG, COND_VALUE,CURRENCY.
Hope the above info helps you. Do revert back if you
need more info.
Kind Regards

Kindly let me know if any post install scripts needs to be run ?
Or is there any thing else i have missed.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Cema
Edited by: Cema on May 22, 2009 12:14 PMHi Cema,
In MLR 10 these two bugs have been added with others (you can see in patch read me file)-
8432093 - AUTOMATE THE POST PATCH INSTRUCTION SCRIPTS FROM MLR 10 ONWARDS
8339176 - B2B PURGE_RUNTIME PROCEDURE DOES NOT DELETE ALL TIP_WIREMESSAGE_RT RECORDS
Bug 8432093 tells clearly that there is no need of running any post installation script from MLR 10 onwards, so you have not missed anything like post installation script.
Bug 8339176 has addressed the PURGE_RUNTIME functionality for deleting messages. From your earlier posts it seems that you got some errors while applying this patch. Please make sure that patch is successfully installed on your system.

JAVA command line options -cp and -jar don't work together?
Running JSDK 1.4.2 under Windows. I have a Java application that tries to dynamically load a class name that the user enters as follows:
try {
classResult = java.lang.Class.forName(strFilterName);
catch (ExceptionInInitializerError e) {
strErrorMessage = "ExceptionInInitializerError loading class: " + strFilterName;
catch (LinkageError e) {
strErrorMessage = "LinkageError loading class: " + strFilterName;
catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
strErrorMessage = "ClassNotFoundException loading class: " + strFilterName;
This works fine if the classes that make up my application are left as class files in the classpath, but fails to work if they have been collected and run from a JAR file. Note: I can even dynamically load the class when running from the JAR file, if the class I'm trying to load is within that JAR file too. The problem really occurrs when the dynamically loaded class is located someplace else in my classpath. I've tried using various combinations of the "-cp" and "-jar" Java command line options - but when loading and running from a JAR file - the "-cp" parameters seem to be ignored. Is this a bug? Has anyone ever seen this before?
I run my program from the JAR file using this command:
java -cp .;e:\entmgr\filters -jar EntMgr.jar
Where "e:\entmgr\filters" is where the class I'm trying to dynamically load is. (This class has no package name, but loads perfectly as long as I'm not running the application from the JAR file). The class name specified by the user has to be fully specified with a package name (if it has one).
I have tried forcing the "java.lang.Class.forName(strFilterName);" call to use the system class loader, the parent of the system class loaded, and even the null bootstrap class loader - all with no success.
I am suspecting that the class loader that is loading and running my main program from the JAR file, is just not paying any attention to the "-cp" parameter when the "-jar" parameter is present. Indeed, I have never seen any change in the failure, no matter what I put in the "-cp" parameter when using the JAR file.
When I run this without using the JAR file, here is the command I execute:
java -cp .;davidp\snmp;filters davidp.snmp.EntMgr
Where this is executed in a directory that has a "filters" and "davidp\snmp" directory. In this case, because the "filters" directory is in my class path - I can dynamically load my class from it using just its simple name (i.e. "TestTrapFilter").
So, is there some bug that precludes the "-cp" parameter from working correctly when the "-jar" parameter is used? Is there some other way to initialize or set up the classloader I'm using, so it can find things outside of the JAR file I'm running from? I would hope that it is possible to get the same behavior from my program, no matter if it is run from a JAR file or not.
Thanks for any assistence!
DaveThese posts are pretty old, but this page came up in a google search while I was having the same problem, so I thought I would throw my own (Later found) solution in.
The -cp and -jar options did not work together for me, but I later learned that they didn't really have to (and you don't have to mess with jar manifest files).
While on the command line, if you want to set a specific class path and also run a jar, all you need to do is add the jar to whatever extra class path you need to use in the -cp <arg>, and then specify which class you want run from inside the jar.
IE:
java -cp <YourSpecialClasspath>: <PathToJar> <ClassToRunInsideOfJar>
in my case it was like:
java -cp /home/user/WebRCP.jar:./StandaloneInstaller.jar InstallLoader
Remember to put a ":" in between the two arguments for the class path (-cp).
Hope this helps someone in the future,
-Josh -
How can i install snow leopard on my mac G5 using a command line and booting from an external usb rom, since my disk i have is not a bootable media

You simply can't. Snow Leopard is compiled in Intel binary only.

Hi! Thx for your quick reply! I am still unsure what to do tho---see my questions below in bold:
Windows 7 comes with its own version of the standard PostScript driver. = Where is this driver? I have no idea how to find it, it doesn't show up in my Printer menu in FM?
Given that PostScript generated by a driver can be highly device-specific, you need to install the driver as modified by the PPD file for the device in question. Most printer manufacturers in fact provide a PostScript driver installer that associates their printer's PPD file with the standard Windows Printer driver and subsequently creates what is called a PostScript printer driver instance for the particular device on the I/O port you designate. = ??? I've only updated a PPD file for watermarks and have no idea what this means...is there a step-by-step instruction for this? I just need to download a PS driver to select that works & doesn't freeze up my FM when creating a .ps file.
The real question thus is exactly what are you trying to generate PostScript for? = I create a PS, & then use Distiller to create a PDF. This enables me to have a PDF that automatically has Bookmarks, the TOC/LOF/LOT & all corss-refs are hyperlinked, etc.
If you are trying to create PostScript for distillation into PDF, Acrobat installs a PostScript driver instance of its own, labelled Adobe PDF, that is associated with the Acrobat Distiller PPD. = I have tried the Adobe PDF selection from my Printer menu in FM, but it freezes up FM and I have to close the whole program & no PDF generates.
BTW, although you may be successful in installing and running FrameMaker 8 on Windows 7, in fact Adobe officially does not support FrameMaker 8 on Windows 7. = I don't know what to say---the upgrade is too expensive for some of us folks out here right now, so we all need to work with what we have for now!
I appreciate your help, thank you. -
How to pass in variables using the command line when starting ActionScript native app
How do I pass in variables or startup arguments using the command line when starting an ActionScript native app? For example, I have my app call MySweetWidget and it has been compiled with Adobe AIR captive runtime so now I have MySweetWidget.exe.
In the command line, I am calling MySweetWidget.exe and would like to pass in variables or properties to the application. I would assume that those variables are then read from the loaderInfo.parameters object.
Please let me know if the Adobe AIR runtime supports passing in parameters to the native runtime. If so, I would like help determining the correct format of how to pass in the variables. Then would you read those from the loaderinfo.parameters object?
Thanks,
JeffI found the answer to my own question:
Yes it is a supported feature. It is documented on the following page:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/desktop/NativeApp lication.html#event:invoke
When you subscribe to the invoke event of the NativeApplication it will subsequently dispatch the event and you read the e.arguments Array object to get the startup arguments passed into the native application. -
How to enable Rosetta at the system level using the command line?

Does anyone know what the data shown here is? It doesn't change when Rosetta is turned off and then back on. It also doesn't change between user accounts (e.g. joe's com.apple.LaunchServices.plist has the same value as jane's).
Will it be possible to run defaults in a way that makes this change work for all users of the computer?I am asking about the option to run in non-interactive modeIt cannot be done. Check "Oracle® Applications Maintenance Utilities Release 11i (11.5.10.2)" manual for more details.

Using the command line client...
I've got a few thousand videos, with metadata, that I have to add to an existing FCS install. Right now, I'm just trying to figure out the proper way to use the command line.
If I run the following command as root (paasset_predict_motorvideo is the name of my metadata set, as listed in the admin app...)
bash-3.2# ./fcsvr_client createasset paasset_predict_motorvideo /Users/bfinley/Desktop/test.mov
I get the following error:
{ CODE = E_NOTSUPP, DESC = Entity /Users/bfinley/Desktop/test.mov doesn't know how to do anything, SRC_FILE = PmdEntity.C, SRC_LINE = 1509, ERROR_TYPE = ET_PERM, ADDRESS = /Users/bfinley/Desktop/test.mov }
If I pass in the --host, --user, and -pass on the same command, i get:
{ CODE = EMISSINGPARAM, DESC = CURRENTPERMID missing in PmsTask_QueryPerms, looks like unknown node failed to pass it down to child unknown node, NODE = ["PmsTask_QueryPerms" 0x2a51c50, ref=3, wref=2] taskState=0 dbqueue=0x184fb64 needTrans, SRC_FILE = PmsTask_QueryPerms.C, SRC_LINE = 136 }
I don't need to add any metadata to it, and i get the same error whether I enter any metadata at the end of the query or not.
I just have a pile of videos, the filenames of which are keys to a table that contains the rest of the metadata, and I want to automate the addition of them to the new FC Server install.
Am I going about this the wrong way?
Thanks in advance.Brian:
I've start by placing assets into a device that is configured with Final Cut Server (FCSvr).
Example, let say you have a folder on your desktop name 1000videos.
Create a device in FCSvr and map it to /Users/bfinley/1000videos.
Name this Device with the name of your choice i.e. Library2
Don't apply any scan schedules to this device etc.
After you're done with that determine the device id of the new created device by running this command
./fcsvr_client search /dev
you get some output like
Address DEVICE_NAME DEVICE_TYPE
/dev/7 Archive_Device filesystem
/dev/13 Library filesystem
/dev/10 Media filesystem
Note down the device id of your newly created device i.e. /dev/13
Next assuming that you have a file with a filename of test.mov
use the following command
sudo fcsvr_client createasset paasset_predict_motorvideo /dev13/test.mov
you should receive a response to this output containing the newly create asset id.
Hope this helps.
