Importing extra columns in physical tables

hi gems...
am new in OBIEE(10.1.3.4.1)...till today i worked on the repository which is already been built by someone.
meanwhile the product has been upgraded and thats why there are lots of tables and lots of columns in existing tables have been added to the schema.
so now as per the requirement, i need to import some of the new tables and all the new columns in the existing tables in the repository.
New tables i can import from the option file-->import-->from database.
But how can i import the new columns in the existing tables?? is there any other way out than to do that manually one by one and then updating all the row counts??
please help...thanks in advance...

Hi,
It's also similar...
go to u RPD--> menu--> file--> import metadata--> enter user ID,password of u r DSN then u
Just select the new columns/table then import it.
save it and then update all row counts.

  • Newbie Repository question: How to add extra columns to relationship table?

    I've defined the following item-descriptors:
    <item-descriptor name="award" display-property="id">
    <table name="bc_award" type="primary" id-column-name="award_id>
    </table>
    </item-descriptor>
    <item-descriptor name="product" display-property="displayName" xml-combine="append">
    <table name="bc_product" type="auxiliary" id-column-name="product_id">
    </table>
    Now products and awards have a many-to-many relationship, so I also added the following under the product item-descriptor definition:
    <table name="bc_prd_awards" type="multi" id-column-name="product_id">
    <property name="awards" data-type="set" component-item-type="award" column-name="award-id"/>
    </table>
    So far, so good. However, I actually want some extra information on the relationship table. Namely, the catalog to which the product-award association applies. In other words, I'd like the create table statement to turn out something like this:
    CREATE_TABLE bc_prd_awards (
    product_id varchar2(254) NOT NULL REFERENCES dcs_product(product_id),
    award_id varchar2(254) NOT NULL REFERENCES bc_award(award_id),
    catalog_id varchar2(254) NOT NULL REFERENCES dcs_catalog(catalog_id),
    PRIMARY KEY(product_id, award_id, catalog_id)
    Any ideas as to how I accomplish this?

    If you want to add catalog information to the product-award association, do this.
    <item-descriptor name="product"/>
    <table type=multi>
    <property name="productAwardAssociation" component-item-type="productAward" data-type="set" />
    </table>
    </item-descriptor>
    <item-descriptor name="productAward">
    <property name="award" column-name="award" item-type="Award"/>
    <property name="catalog" column-name="catalog" item-type="Catalog"/>
    </item-descriptor>
    <item-descriptor name="Award">
    --- award related properties
    </item-descriptor>
    Hope this helps.

  • Extra column in SAPUI Table

    Hello Friends
    I have created an sap ui table (sap.ui.table.Table). and binded a local Json Model.
    I am seeing an extra column (highlighed in red) in the below screen shot.
    Can someone suggest, if this column can be eliminated? thanks for your replies
    Regards
    Giri

    You can hide it by setting the table's selectionMode property to sap.ui.table.SelectionMode.None. Of course, that also means that rows can no longer be selected.

  • Af:table. How to add extra column.

    Hi,
    On my page I have a table that is generated from a view object. The attributes from the VO are coming from a entity object.
    table looks fine on my page. But now I need to add a extra column on the table and the value for that is coming from a other table then of the entity object.
    How can I make tis?
    Is it possible to have a entity object for more then 1 table?
    Should I make a VO that is filled with a query instead of a entity object?
    The VO is used on many pages, so can't change to much on that.
    Hope you have some good suggestions.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi:
    You can have VO with more one entity.
    I recomended to add attribute from entities and use which need.

  • Newly added column in a table not displayed in a related form

    I added a new column (DNAMECONT as varchar2) in a table I created a Form on. I added this new field in my Form as a text field, and on the customized tab of the form wizard, this following code is displayed as expected :
    <TR><TD><#DCONTRACTOR.LABEL#></TD><TD><#DCONTRACTOR.ITEM#></TD></TR>
    But I cannot view it once I run my form.
    did I forget to do something or is there something I did wrong?
    Thank you for your help.
    Bertrand

    Sorry to interupt, as far as I understand, if you add extra column to a table after the form is built and you want to add this new column in your form. When you add new item in your form, the name you give to the item should exactly match the column name of your new column of the table. Now, you said you added a new column called DNAMECONT, but the
    html shown in form wizard is <#DCONTRACTOR.LABEL#>, <#DCONTRACTOR.ITEM#>, two names do seem to match. Is that the problem?

  • Any method to drop extra column in oracle 8

    hello
    I am using oracle 8
    i want to remove extra column from my table
    please help me
    regards
    pritam

    Drop column is available only after Oracle 8. The only thing I can think of is to re-create the table without the extra column
    create table <newtablename > as
    select col1, col2.... from <tablename>
    But then you will have to recreate the constraints on the new table. ( only the not null constraint will be copied to it)

  • OBIEE 10g repository - Business model - logical table to physical table, column mapping is empty

    Hi, I am really new to OBIEE 10g.
    I already set up a SQL Server 2005 database in Physical and import a view vw_Dim_retail_branch.
    The view has 3 columns: branch_id, branch_code, branch_desc.
    Now I want to set up the Business model to map this physical table (view).
    I created a new Business model
    Added new logical table Dim_retail_branch
    In the sources, added the vw_Dim_retail_branch as source table.
    But in the Logical table source window,  column mapping tab, it's blank. I thought it should be able to identify all the columns from vw_Dim_retail_branch, but not. The show mapped columns is ticked.
    What should I do here? Manually type each column?

    HI,
    Just you can drag and drop the columns from physical layer to BMM layer.
    Select the 3 columns and drag and drop it to the created logical column in BMM layer.

  • Import Metadata Wizard won't remove columns from repository table

    Hello everybody!
    We are facing the following problem with an imported object in OWB:
    I have imported successfully a table into OWB. I can see in the OWB's "Data Object Editor" that the repository object is identical to the physical object.
    If I remove a column from the physical table in db and re-Import the table in OWB, the OWB "Import Metadata Wizard" understands that a column is removed and in the "Import Results" shows that column as "Preserved". However, in OWB's "Data Object Editor" the column is not removed!! Is there a step we are missing?
    Thanks in advance!!
    ps: we are using OWB 10gR2

    Yes you missed one step
    While Importing on
    Step 3 of 3 Summary and Import
    Click on Advance Import OPtion
    De select all the preserve option.

  • Extra column to be added while importing data from flat file to SQL Server

    I have 3 flat files with only one column in a table.
    The file names are bars, mounds & mini-bars.
    Table 'prd_type' has columns 'typeid' & 'typename' where typeid is auto-incremented and typename is bars, mounds & mini-bars.
    I Import data from 3 files to prd_details table. This table has columns 'pid', 'typeid' & 'pname' where pid is auto-incremented and pname is mapped to flat files and get info from them, now i wanted the typeid info to be received from prd_type table.
    Can someone please suggest me on this?

    You can get it as follows
    Assuming you've three separate data flow tasks for three files you can do this
    1. Add a new column to pipeline using derived column transformation and hardcode it to bars, mounds or mini-bars depending on the source
    2. Add a look task based on prd_type table. use query as
    SELECT typeid,typename
    FROM prd_type
    Use full cache option
    Add lookup based on derived column. new column -> prd_type.typename relationship. Select typeid as output column
    3. In the final OLEDB destination task map the typeid column to tables typeid column.
    In case you use single data flow task you need to include a logic based on filename or something to get the hardcoded type value as bars, mounds or mini-bars in the data pipeline

  • Ho do I change the physical order of the columns in a table

    I want to change the physical order of the columns in a table, so that I get the expected order when I query like :
    select * from <tablename>

    Hi!
    There are different methods of doing that, you can either create a view on that table which will retrieve the columns in the correct order, or you can copy and rename the table using CREATE TABLE AS SELECT ..., or you can use the online table redefinition functionality if your using 10g.

  • How can I import db column comments into the OBIEE presentation layer?

    We have a very well designed data mart - it is a star schema and all the fact and dimension table columns have comments in them with their definition and use. There is virtually no change required in the physical or business layer. The only modifications done in the presentation layer was to hide the Pk/Fk columns.
    Is there a way to import these column comments into the presentation layer so that the business user can see this comment in the tool tip while hovering over the presentation column in Answers?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
    I assume the comments you mean are stored in user_tab_comments and user_col_comments.
    When this is the case you should do the following:
    Go to your subject area in your presentation layer. For now I assume the name of this subject area is "Subject Area".
    Then right click on this subject area and check "Externalize Descriptions".
    Then create an initialization block (session) using this query:
    (select 'CD_Subject_Area_' || table_name, comments from user_tab_comments)
    union all
    (select 'CD_Subject_Area_' || table_name || '_' || column_name, comments from user_col_comments)
    Use "Row-wise initialization" for this initialization block.
    Two comments:
    1) Like I said, I assume Subject Area is the name of your subject area in your presentation layer, so I guess you need to replace this with the name of your Subject Area.
    But be sure that you replace each space ' ' with an underscore '_'.
    2) Maybe you need to refine above querys by filtering on table_name for those table_names you are using.
    Good luck.

  • Problem: 1 physical table -- multiple logical table sources

    Hi,
    I'm quite new to BIEE and setting up my repository.
    So I have a question, if the following scenario is possible:
    Physical Layer: TABLE_A: COL_A, COL_B, COL_C
    TABLE_B: COL_D, COL_E, COL_F
    Join TABLE_A.COL_A = TABLE_B.COL_D
    In Business Model I have a Dimension Table with TABLE_A as datasource with fields DIM1 (COL_B).
    The Fact Table (MEASURE) would have twice TABLE_B as data source with different where-clauses on COL_F and logical table columns (ATT1 and ATT2) of value COL_E.
    So far I have created everything and the consistency check shows no errors or warnings, but I get an error in Answer: Incorrectly defined logical table source (for fact table MEASURE) does not contain mapping for [MEASURE.ATT1, MEASURE.ATT2], when I creating an report showing DIM1, ATT1, ATT2.
    Isn't it possible to have one physical column used as multiple data source?
    I know it 's working, when I create the physical table twice ... but maybe there's a solution for business model.
    Thanks
    chrissy

    Hi mengesh,
    that's what I also tried, but it's always returning me the same error.
    I know it would work, when I import the physical table twice or more, but that's not what I want to do, because at the end I have 10 or more fields based on this one physical table. There's one field indicating what value is contained in the record, this means:
    COL_F | COL_E
    1 | customer name
    2 | customer number
    3 | customer branche
    4 | salesman
    5 | date
    6 | report number
    etc.
    I don't think it's usefull to import the physical table as often as I need this field. So I want to divide it in business model.
    thanks

  • Using variable in physical table of type "select"

    Hello!
    I have to use query as physical table (in Administration tool - http://file.qip.ru/file/120930377/8713693/1_online.html):
    SELECT ID, CODE
    FROM TABLE (pkg.output('1','2')) This code works well. I need to insert instead of parameters '1' and '2' session variables, which will be set from Dashboard.
    How to put variable in this query? Variants like @{test} don't work.

    Hi
    I have a working example:
    select * from table(get_emps('VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.USER)'))
    where
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION GET_EMPS(P_USER VARCHAR2:='SUPPLIER2')
    RETURN EMP_TYPE_LIST
    IS
    EMPS EMP_TYPE_LIST:=EMP_TYPE_LIST();
    R EMP_TYPE:=EMP_TYPE(NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL,NULL);
    i pls_integer:=0;
    CURSOR C_EMP(C_USER EMPLOYEES.USER_ID%TYPE) IS
    SELECT EMPLOYEE_ID,FIRST_NAME,LAST_NAME,SALARY ,USER_ID
    FROM EMPLOYEES WHERE upper(USER_ID)=upper(C_USER);
    BEGIN
    OPEN C_EMP(P_USER);
    LOOP
    FETCH C_EMP INTO R.EMPLOYEE_ID,R.FIRST_NAME,R.LAST_NAME,R.SALARY,R.USER_ID;
    EXIT WHEN C_EMP%NOTFOUND;
    i:=i+1; emps.extend; EMPS(i):=R;
    END LOOP;
    RETURN EMPS;
    END;
    and
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE EMP_TYPE AS OBJECT
    EMPLOYEE_ID NUMBER(6),
    FIRST_NAME VARCHAR2(20),
    LAST_NAME VARCHAR2(25),
    SALARY NUMBER(8,2),
    USER_ID VARCHAR2(30));
    and
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE EMP_TYPE_LIST AS TABLE OF EMP_TYPE;
    My employees table contains an extra column, called user_id, which has different values: 'Administrator','SUPPLIER2' and so on

  • Creating Physical table as select in the .rpd

    When creating a physical table as a select we can write the SQL statement like SELECT A,B,C... FROM xxx etc.
    Trouble is that we then have to go the tab COLUMNS and define each column... This is kind of very error prone and lots of work...
    Pls. is there a way to somehow leverage the columns alreaday defined in the PHYSICAL TABLE ?
    Txs. for any help.
    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,
    You didnt catch me..
    1)Open actual rpd and create a view using select query, do not add any columns.
    2) Create view in dev db.
    3) Create a new rpd file import the view into the physical layer.
    4) Select columns from step3 and copy
    5) paste in the actual rpd on selecting the 'select query' object
    you are good to go.
    This wold help you with all columns and their datatypes.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    SVee
