Importing Financial Report to PowerPoint stalls second attempt

Hello All,
I have an issue that occurs when I import a financial report into PowerPoint using SmartView. The first report I import works fine. Then, when I go to import a second report, the import screen freezes up PowerPoint. In order to import multiple reports I have to save the current PowerPoint, exit PowerPoint, exit Juniper (b/c we use VPN), then go back into Juniper, then back into PowerPoint and back into the SmartView connection.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts on this matter?

Hi,
When I try to import Financial reports through workspace, it is throwing an error saying "Required application module *reporting.HRImport* is not configured."
Can anybody help to resolve this issue?

Workspace - Error when trying to import Financial Reports

I am trying to import some Financial Reports, but when I goto Navigate>Explore, then I right click on the folder where I want the reports and then click Imort>Financial Reports, I get this error message;
"Your Financial Reporting Web Server is unable to locat the report server epm.southbay.local:8299. Please contact your administrator. (5514)"
Also, when trying to log into Financial Reporting Studio I use the server name and port 8200, but its gives me an error message of;
"You are not authorized to use this functionality. Contact your administrator"
I have check the provisioning and I have all provisions assigned to me.
How can I log into the Financial Reporting Studio and import financial reports in Workspace?

problem solved.
Solution:
1) Right click on certresponse.crt
2) Rename to certresponse.p7r3) Right Click on certresponse.p7r -> Open
4) Select the file with your domain name
5) Right Click -> All Tasks -> Export
6) Then import this in to the J2EE Key Store

Print quality when importing Financial Reporting in to MS-Office?

Hi,
I want to create a report package in MS-Office using Financial reporting. I want to import several FR reports to MS-Word using Smartview and then be able to print the word document.
When doing so I am not able to get the same quality when printing from word as when printing from FR. Figures and text in the word printout are a bit blurry and not at all as sharp as when printed from FR.
Is it possible to get the same (or almost) quality in text? If so how do i do?

Is it fixed? We are on 11.1.1.3 and FR imports into PowerPoint and Word still have poor resolution.

How to export and import Financial Reports between two servers

Cannot find the Export menu in Studio...
Please help.

Use Workspace to export Financial Reports in either single format as des files or multiple reports in a zip file.
When the export selection window opens use the CTRL key to highlight multiple FR reports for exporting into a single zip file.
I prefer this way for promoting reports to production.

Location of imported a Financial Report ?

I imported a Financial Report in the HFM 9.3 workspace but I cannot find it. I was never prompted for a location to import to. Where does an imported Financial report go ? We are using HFM 9.3.1

It might be at the top level, i.e. /Root/ or whatever Directory you were in when the started the import.
If it was more than one report, it will import the folder structure with the reports, so be on the lookout for folders rather than financial reports.

Migrate Financial Reporting reports from version 11.1.1.2 to 11.1.2.1?

I have recently built a brand new 11.1.2.1 environment. Our current environment is running 11.1.1.2. I have successfully migrated shared services data, and hfm data across to the new environment. I am now trying to move the financial reporting reports. Anybody know the best way to do this? Thanks.

I did do something wrong : )
I selected import file instead of import financial reporting documents!
Now when I import it asks me to create a datasource which I did. It then gives me the following error:
"Server/Cluster is incorrectly configured. Please reconfigure your Cluster or Server connection.<BR>Server/Cluster is incorrectly configured. Please reconfigure your Cluster or Server connection."
Now I know the server/cluster is configured properly for I can open the Financial Management application through workspace and through the Financial Management client with no issues whatsoever. So they are registered properly.
I'll continue to work at it and see if I can figure it out. In the meantime if you have a simple solution, please let me know.
Additional info:
I have a distributed environment. Foundation web server is where I run all the web components including Reporting & Analysis web, Financial Rptg web, shared services etc. I have a BIplus services server that is running RA Famework Server, FR Print server and HFM web server etc. I then have 3 essbase servers and one HFM server.

Financial Reports Migration

Hi,
I have now installed R and A and configured properly. Now I need to do some migration of reports from one environment to another.
I have been trying two different ways: 1. Using the LCM and 2. Using the File -> Export/ Import in Workspace.
The LCM is not working as it is throwing some errors such as
The following object couldn't be
imported: EPMRAF-31040:Provisioned user
couldn't be found in target system.
Is there any systematic approach in doing LCM as to which artifact needs to be migrated first? or we can do LCM in a single shot?
Also if I want to do the File->Export/Import, do I need to create the folders first before I can migrate the reports. For example, I have this kind of folder structure in my workspace:
ROOT
Admin Reports
Corporate Reports
Application1 Reports
Application2 Reports
Marketing Reports
Since the structure is somewhat like above, do I need to create those folders first?
ALSO, Can I do import-export of all the financial reports at once, or do I need to do them one folder at a time.

I am noy sure about the provisioning error.....are u using admin ID or not to export/import the reports. Actually the order for the planning application will be
1. Shared library + application properties -------- if EPMA application
2. deploy the application --------if EPMA application
3. IF not EPMA just refresh the database and import the planning artifacts.
4. import the security
5. import financial reports
actually FR import will comes in the last...

HTTP Status 500 message when attempting to open Financial Report.

In a new 9.3.1 installation (BI, Essbase, HFM, Planning) I am unable to run Financial Reports in Workspace. As a test, I have created a simple report, using Studio, which has only boilerplate text - no grids or anything else that requires a DB connection. The report previews fine from the Studio client but when I attempt an HTML preview or when I attempt to run the report from within Workspace, I receive an HTTP Status 500 error in the right panel in Workspace. Below is the text of the error. I am using IIS 6 with Tomcat. My troubleshooting effort have been around IIS and BI configuration. I am able to open Web Analysis documents without any trouble. Any suggestions you may have would be appreciated.

Did you try any of the following:
1.) Delete Tomcat cache with the following steps
Stop Tomcat.
Remove the folders from <Tomcat\work\Catalina\localhost> directory.
Start Tomcat. (it will delay a few minutes)
The cache will be recreated automatically.
2.) Redeploy Explorer application with wdeploy tool (Location: <install_dir>\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\wdeploy)

wdeploy <WEB_APP_SERVER> [-D<PROPERTY>=<value>] <ACTION>

Financial Reports import into excel using Smart View - error

All,
I have encountered an error message when trying to use R&A Import.
The message is
Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition
"Excel cannot insert the sheets into the destination workbook, because it contains fewer rows and columns than the source workbook. To move or copy the data to the destination workbook, you can select the data, and then use the Copy and Paste commands to insert it into the sheets of another workbook."
This only affects some users and then they are able to reimport the reports no problem in the same workbook after the error is posted.
Does anybody know how to fix this issue?
We are using Excel 2007, Oracle Hyperion Smart View 11.1.13, Financial Reporting Studio, Hyperion Planning 11.1.13.

Answer appears to be users were using Excel 2007 in compatibility mode. Switching from compatibility mode to saving in Excel 2007 removed the errors.

FInancial reports Export Import error

I am exporting Financial reports from version 11.1.1.3 and importing into version 11.1.2.1 with the help of workspace.
Now after exporting some folder. It starting gives following error.
Code: 2108 The object requested: [] does not exist in the repository hyperion workspace.
Can anybody aware of these error.

Excel R&A Import - Freeze Headers in Financial Reporting Studio don't work

Our users like financials in Excel and fully formatted to their liking so we create the template in Financial Reporting Studio and then import the template via Excel through Workspace via Independent Provider Connection. If the certain grid template in Financial Reporting Studio was set to several "pages" to produce, all the pages will popup on separate tabs in Excel. My question is, for each "page" which populates info on one tab in Excel, when printed, could be several printed pages long so the column headings don't reprint. I can manually set up Excel to reprint the column headings but since we produce thousands of reports with various templates, we don't want to run too many macros all the time. I know the export in PDF from Workspace will freeze the headers because I froze it on the template in Fin Rptg Studio, so how come the freeze headers don't translate in Excel?

Actually that's what I thought so that I won't have to run the config utility for a client install. When I did the Typical installation it gave me an option at he end of an install to run the Config utility or not.
As far as the registery cleaning is concerned, there are probably 100 entries all over the place. Pain the neck but I guess that would be my only option here.
With the vpd.properties file, I can definitly say that in 9.3.1.3 it is there. I have the same version installed on my machine and I have the vpd.properties file.
So, I think the bottom line would be to uninstall everything related to Hyperion.
Clean the registery for all Hyperion entries.
Reboot and reinstall.

LCM export and import for Hyperion financial reports 11 1 2 2

Hi All,
Could you please let me know how to perform the LCM migration for HFR in 11.1.2.2 version. I am on AIX.
I am having some issues with my HFR server and so I cannot open the reports. So I am thinking if I can use LCM and export and migrate the reports to another server.
The steps I am performing to do this:
Login to HSS > Application group> Reporting and Analysis> Repository objects> report folder name> select reports> Hit on Export
Now in the exported folder I see three things:
RnA-Reporting and Analysis (Its a folder)
Export.xml
Import.xml
Now under RnA-Reporting and Analysis folder I see sub folders
resource\Repository Objects\Under this folder, I see for every report there is one .xml file and 5 other files for the same report.
Can anyone tell me how to import these reports back into the new environment?

Thanks for the reply- And I followed what you recommended but none of the reports being migrated. I can only see one batch script under HSS and workspace in the target server but in the LCM export from the source server (The exported folder) i can see all the reports and the books.

Export FR without using Financial Reporting Studio

Good morning.
Is that possible to get the reports designed at Financial Reporting Studio to import into another machine?
I'm asking this because I ain't able to access this machine anymore. So, did an other machine, but now, with a new database, with no reports =)

I know that there is a report migration tool as we used it when we went from 7.2.5 to 9.3.1. I'm not 100% if you can make use of it as a simple 'copy' tool (i.e. copying same software version reports from one server to the next or if it only works in a specific upgrade capacity); however, I would start on that route first.
I think the road block you will hit there; however, is that I think the environment would need to be up and running for this utility to work.
If that is the case, the manual route is ugly. As I've talked about in a prevoius post, reports (since system 9) are scattered in a couple different pieces. In the Workspace database, you will find information that ties a UUID (Unique Identifier) to a 'Friendly Name'. In the file system of your server running the RM web application, you will find the actual report files. The files / folders for the reports are not human friendly; therefore, you need the DB to fix the names. The other issue you have here is the database connection for the reports. When you create a database connection it also gets a generated Unique ID value which is stored in the reports. If that ID does not exist in the target system, you need to update all of the reports; otherwise, they will not work correctly.
If I HAD to do this manually (i.e. old workspace isn't operational so I can't export), here's what I would do ..........
------- WARNING ------------ I don't think anyone here is going to approve of this method and I really don't either, but ....................
"Old System" to "New System"
#1 - New System --> create your database connection(s), preferably with same name(s) as previous environment
#2 - Old --> Locate naming information in Workspace database tables (If you don't know where this is, find a previous post I put out on reports and the database where I explain this)
#3 - Old --> Locate the physical files / directories (See previous post on subject)
#4 - Old --> Find at least ONE report for EACH database connection used in the old system. Open the file(s) in notepad and locate the connection ID. (NOTE : Files are compressed so get something like 7zip to get into them)
#5 - New --> Open the Workspace database, locate the database connection information. For each connection you have created, update the ID to correspond to the ID found in the reports.
At this point, we have a couple of different options......
Option 1 - Create your own export archive
Now that you know where all of the old reports are and you know the proper naming of the reports, you can make your own export archive which you can then import into the new environment. The structure of the 7zip archive would be something like this
ReportExtract.7z
(null) Folder --> This would correspond to your Root folder in Workspace
My Report Folder 1 --> Your workspace stuff here
My Report Folder 2 --> Etc.
The import thing to recognize here is that when you first open the 7z file, you have to have that NULL folder; otherwise, this doesn't work. I'm not sure how to create such a null folder, so what I normally do is create an extract file using the Workspace Export option and then use 7zip to alter the archive to include what I really want ....
#1 - Old --> Fix names. Using the information from the workspace database write a quick script to traverse the file / folder structure and renaming all folders and files so that they have the friendly name.
#2 - Old --> For the files that were just renamed, uncompress them. This can be accomplished with a bat file script as well.
#3 - New --> Go to File Export and choose the highest folder you can and export all items. Save the file somewhere handy as you're going ot need this right away.
#4 - Old --> Open the archive with 7zip. You will see a folder with no name, double click on it. Now you should see the beginning of your report structure (if you have one on the new environment....)
#5 - Old --> Using windows explorer, DRAG and DROP the folders/files from steps #1/#2 into the 7zip window. 7zip will then add those folders/files to the report archive we created.
#6 New --> Login to workspace and select the File, Import option. Proceed to use the archive created previously. If everything is done correctly, the reports will pull in and you will be good to go at this point. (OTHER THAN SECURITY)
Option 2 - Manually Copy Files/Folders and Database entries
While in theory this is slightly quicker, I've never attempted so I won't say for fact this will work. I would probably only recommend trying this is the old and new machines are running the SAME version of software AND the new machine has nothing added to it yet.....
#1 - Locate RM1 service folder and copy all files/folders to new server's RM folder
#2 - Locate the old database tables related to report files/folders/permissions/data connections and copy data into new database tables.
