Importing multiple images as inline objects

I know Indesign allows for multiple images to be placed in a grid, but is there a way to import several images straight into a story as inline frames?

After digging around in the scripting section of this forum, I managed to find a snippet of a script which replaces image names in the text with the actual image. Very useful stuff.
// reset the Find/Change dialog app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = null; // formulate a grep search string app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = '@.+?@'; // find all occurrence of image names between @, last one first f = app.activeDocument.findGrep (true); for (i = 0; i < f.length; i++) { // construct file name name = f[i].contents.replace (/@/g, ''); // place the pdf and REPLACE the destination with the folder of links f[i].insertionPoints[0].place ('Insert image folder here' + name)); } // delete all @??@ codes app.activeDocument.changeGrep()

  • InDesign CS3 Scripting XML Import Multiple Images into same Text Frame

    I am having trouble importing multiple images into the same Text Frame using XML import. I imported 5 images into the text frame. However, all 5 images are laying on top of one another. Does anyone know if there is a way to have all images laying out like how Microsoft Word handles inline images, i.e., laying out next image to the right of previsous image in the same line and if there is not enough space left in the line, then wrap to next line. Thanks in advance. I understand I could use JavaScript to do post import processing, e.g, calculate the image size and place each images accordingly. But I am trying to see whether there is a way to do this without scripts.

    You can apply an object style to all anchored images by script. A text frame containing main flow should be selected.
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var textFrame =  app.selection[0];
    var rectangles = textFrame.texts[0].rectangles;
    if (rectangles.length > 0) {
         for (var i=0; i < rectangles.length; i++) {
              rectangles[i].appliedObjectStyle = doc.objectStyles.item("Cover");
    However, there is a better approach:
    Step 1
    Create place holders for a single "Book" element and format it as needed -- apply an object style to the cover.
    Step 2
    Import the xml file -- the placeholders are replaced with data from the 1st xml element
    Step 3
    Drag & drop the element containing all "Books" elements into the main flow -- all elements are placed and formatted the same way as in step 1.
    Finally, add a new page, click the overset text icon and autoflow text to add pages so that to fit all the text.
    Hope this helps.

    Burn for what purpose? To share with others?
    Export the photos to a folder on the Desktop. Burn that with the Finder. Result: a folder of images that any computer can read.
    Using iPhoto's Burn command creates an iPhoto Library on the disk and is suitable only for others also using the same version of iPhoto.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
    has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
    Note that rewriteable disks do not necessarily mean that you can append files to them, and require special burning software to do so.

  • How to import multiple images as slides for a history presentation?

    I teach college & often want to do slide shows with images from a folder.
    This is possible with Picassa.
    I would like to automate the process of importing, say 50 images, from a folder and creating 1 slide per image.
    Is there any way to automate or simplify the process.
    I know I can do each slide individually, but I'm looking for a way to save time.
    Marc

    However, when you drop them, they are out of order. As far as I can figure out, they are on computer order: 100, 1000, 11, 110, or something like that.
    I am having the same problem as the other guy. I have to import 300 images into a keynote presentation. Each image on one slide. I have exported the images from iPhoto into a folder, and they are the right size. Now, how do I get them into Keynote in the right order?! Too many to sort by hand, sooo long to add individually. Help!
    Thanks

  • Import multiple images to one layer

    I want to make a sprite.  I have the sliced button psd images.  I don't have the original psd file so I have to reassemble them in psf.   The problem is I want to import all the button images to the canvas and then reassemble them.  Photoshop let me put one image down and I guess it wants to create layers for the 2nd and 3rd image.
    I don't need all those layers but I can't figure out to export all the sliced button images together into one layer?   I tried selecting all images in the bridge and holding down the shift key to drag them to ps.  This seems to have created a smart object of all the images combined on a second layer.  I couldn't delete the object but ended deleting that layer.    So my question is how to import all the sliced buttons into one layer?
    Thanks

    Once all the images are on their own layer, if you want to then put them onto a single layer, you can merge the layers. In the layer panel click on the icon in the upper right hand corner and select merge layers from that menu.
    or right click on all selected layers to select merge layers
    If you have a smart object, right click on that layer and select rasterize layer
    Flatten layers will work as well but locks the resulting layer as a background.
    Play around with the menu option next to merge layers and see what they do to multi-selected layers or to layers that are hidden. Very useful once you start using them.
    Another hidden tip: Selecting all layers and using the key combination shift-control-alt-e will make a merged copy and place it at the top. {replace control with the mac equivelent if your on a mac}

  • Importing multiple image sequences simultaneously

    Quick but pesky workflow question.
    I'm often given a number of folders, each of which contains an image sequence (usually TIFF or DPX) representing a single clip. Usually the project starts by painstakingly importing the several dozen sequences by hand.
    Is there any way to import all the sequences at once?

    You could also try this...
    Put all of the sequences in one folder.
    Then import the sequences into AE.
    When you go to import, open the folder containing the sequences and select all the files, or at least one file from each sequence. (for me its easier to just hit "Ctrl + a" to select all of them)
    Make sure to put a check next to the "Multiple Sequences" option and you're done!
    After Effects will sort them all out for you(assuming each sequence has a unique base name)

  • How do I import multiple images into single individual cells?

    Hi folks,
    I'm new to the Mac (yeah!) and imagine there just has to be a way to import a bunch of images into separate cells in Mac "Numbers" ... am I right?
    Essentially what I'd like to do is a file folder with 600 images in it, and import those directly into Mac Numbers with one picture being assigned to it's own cell. So if below were a spreadsheet it would look like this:
    Actual Picture - Picture Name - Item Description ... and so on.
    I'm trying to work with inventory items, and this is the only way I can think of doing it. Suggestions!?!?
    Here is a link to creating a macro in Excel to do a similar thing:

    D,
    I guess you're taking another shot at getting a response. You risk getting parallel discussions going with the same content.
    What you are contemplating seems logical enough, but I think you will find that it is impractical in Numbers. Given the size of photograph files these days, you will choke Numbers in short order. You will have to be careful that you embed only photos large enough to be of use/viewable, and keep your full-sized copies elsewhere. You might find that an Apple Script can do the import for you, but otherwise it's drag and drop from the Media Browser.

    There is no macro feature in Numbers.
    The only way to code what you wish would be to use AppleScript if Numbers '08 was scriptable.
    As it's not, you must do the job by hand or switch to Numbers '09 which is scriptable.

  • Importing multiple images into flash movie as a movie

    I have about 200 images that have been rendered for me frame
    by frame, how do I put this into flash as a movie? I don't want to
    do this manually as it would be a complete waste of my time.
    Much thanks in advance!

    you can import them as an image sequence, then create a movie
    clip out of it. File-->import-->import to stage.. Then select
    all the images, and it something should pop up asking if you are
    trying to create an image sequence, select yes.

  • How to Import Multiple Image Sequences into - Premiere 'Pro'

    Hi ;-)
    1) I added a bug report about this 4 years ago  -- Is this STILL not possible ;-))))
    I have 200 Sequences sitting each in its own folder. As of now - then year of the Lord 2014, I have to physically select each folder and add them one by one...
    This is almost funny...
    Perhaps I am missing the extreme obvious --- Either that or Premiere Pro is.
    Any Help is greatly appreciate
    Thanks

    Jim, when selecting the blackmagic2 level, the only available option is File Directory:
    This doesn't happen with RED files, where you can choose between File Directory and RED from the first level. Unlike blackmagic's DNG clips, RED files can be imported all at once, so maybe that's the whole problem:
    And yes, Source Settings are available for RED files, whereas they are not for DNG (only basic information, not raw manipulation):

  • How to import multiple images NOT sequences?

    I'd like to create a slide show in After Effects. I have about 300 photos in 20 folders - of which the client will only choose 100 or so.
    I'd like to keep all the files in their same directories/keep the folder structure identical. So I'd like to drag and drop these 20 folders into AE and have it match up - only problem is AE thinks I want these to be sequences! Any advice? Thanks!

  • Don't know how to import multiple images

    I expect this is really simple, but I've tried and tried, and can't find anything on it in the Help files. I open a picture file in Photoshop, which is fine, but then I want to open another picture in the same Photoshop file so I can combine them, putting it on a different layer. If I open another picture file it seems to put it into a new Photoshop file. Can ayone tell me how to do it please?

    Quite Useful wrote:
    I can't drag one file into another because when I open the second one it seems to take the place of the other, as if only one can be open at once.
    Go to the top bar and under Arrange Documents select Float All in Windows.
    That will get rid of the stupid tabs. You can drag one image on to the tab of the other image but I like to see what I'm doing!
    You can permanently disable this tabbing feature in Photoshop's preferencecs.

  • How can I import an image without Motion 5 changing its proportions?

    I have an image that's intentionally larger than the canvas size (1080x1920) in Motion 5. Every time I import it or drag it to the timeline, Motion automatically squeezes the image to fit the canvas proportions. I know I can go and adjust the width of the image to get it back closer to its correct proportions, but I'm going to be importing multiple images like this will add a ton of extra (and non-precise) work.
    Is there a setting to change this?

    I've tried that. The properties show that it is at 100%, and I have to stretch it out further than 100% in order for the proportions to look normal again. I've also selected "Do Nothing" in Preferences and it doesn't make a difference. It seems that option is for scaling images that are larger than the project pixel dimensions, but it still squishes my imported images.
    Since this was a relatively simple animation, I just did the scene in Final Cut and then brought it back into my Motion project as a Quicktime movie. I would think such a workaround shouldn't be necessary though.
