Importing Over and Over

My church has a Canon Vixia HSF100 camera, and we use it to broadcast and record the services. I have been using it to record some of our discipleship classes as well, so people who miss can catch up on the materials. I've been importing the videos into iMovie on my Macbook Pro via the SD port, and I've been having semi-consistent issues with it. The two main issues right now are 1) at seemingly random times, iMovie tells me after importing that there was an error and it failed to import, and 2) after importing, more and more often it will create the "New Event" with the purpose of placing the imported .mov file there but the imported .mov file does not show up in the event within the application. It is there in Finder, so I know the video imports fine, but iMovie does not recognize it, even after importing the files and making the thumbnails. Typically, I can import the movies again from their file location to the same file location (thus merely duplicating the .mov file) and that will make it available in iMovie. It's annoying as heck but it has worked for me.
I set it to import into the same file location overnight, and when I came in this morning, it was still not in the event. This time I had to import it from the SD card, import it from the file, then import it from the file again before it became available in iMovie! All this, and it makes the thumbnails FOR iMovie EVERY time it imports. It's ridiculous!
Here is my main set of questions: Why the heck does it get an error after importing the entire file (shouldn't it tell me before importing that it can't import from the card?), why is it inconsistent that it has these errors, and why do I often have to import the file from the file that was already imported?
I'm using iMovie '11 (9.0.4).

Hi
A. We are NOT Apple - we are like You - but Users reaching out a hand to help (if possibly)
B. I'm not sure of Your problem - but when I get something like this (due to that 99% of my material is miniDV tapes) it use to be due to Low Free Space - on the Start-Up Hard Disk (no other can be of help here)
I never go less than 25Gb free space here - if HD material is used 50Gb or much more will be the lower limit - to let iMovie, iDVD etc run OK.
Yours Bengt W

  • We would like an request with error is not imported over and over again.

We have an periodically sheduled job which imports all released requests(queue). We would like that request with error is not imported over and over again.
    How to achieve that?

    Hi,
Please do run the import job for transport in STMS only as described in SAP Note below:
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/398589
The periodic sadly can only be done for "import all" & not "import single".
However, you can try the following unconditional modes:

  • I just upgraded to Lion. When I import photos it imports the same photo over and over. Not even one of the photos selected!! Do you know how to fix this?

I just upgraded to Lion. I just installed iLife'11 last night. When I import photos into iMovie (version 9.0.4.) , it imports the same photo over and over as if it were the ones I selected. Not even one of the photos selected!! The thumbnais show that unselected photo,  if I preview then I just see the preview screen all black.
I even tried making an iPhoto album and importing straight from there. Exact same thing. I have restarted the application, restarted the computer, and googled half-to-death. No answers.
Do any of you know how to fix this?
    I am working on OS X Lion (10.7.1) , a 2009 15" MacBook Pro. 4GB Memory. 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. 4GB Memory 1067 MHz DDR3.
    Hope someone can help!!!

It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

  • IPhoto shuts down over-and-over when importing from iPhone

When trying to import photos from iPhone to iPhoto, iPhoto begins the import but then immediately shuts down. over and over again. I've looked online for a solution but have not found anything that I have tried. I am not very comfortable with technology so hesitate to try anything without some direction.

As you can see from the time intervals, it's happening a lot, over and over. I found some references to an error like this supposedly being caused by Time Machine, but I have Time Machine turned off. (Don't like it.)
Anyone know what this is? Looking back through the log, I'm seeing that it has happened multiple times in the past, for anywhere from 15 minutes at a time to over an hour.

This looks like a permission problem to me.
Can you execute the following commands in a terminal and post them?
(Only the actual 'ls -al xxx' lines, the rest is shell prompt and result)

  • Ive uninstalled and re-installed over and over, firefox crashed like a week ago, everytime i try and open it, it wont it puts up the crash box again and again. why? pleez can you help my firefox will not load.

everytime i try and open firefox it crashes i click to restart it and send report but its the same thing over and over nuthin changes, i used firefox up till like week ago now it will open period.

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

My airport extreme (generation 5) was set up using wifi and has worked flawlessly (on macbook pro 2 iphones and window 7 HP pc)until recently. I have reset to factory defaults over and over but still cannot get on the internet. However I can then take my DSL cord and insert it in a different Ethernet port other than the WAN port and I can get internet on my Mac and iphones but only wifi on my husband's PC.  I hate to spend another $179 if this is just something I'm doing wrong. Please help

I'm having a bit of trouble confirming that the ZyXEL is a combination modem & wireless-N router. If it is, then you really won't get any advantages of using the 802.11g AirPort.
If the range of your ZyXEL is limited, you may find that doing either or both of the following will help: 1) Move the ZyXEL so that it is higher vs. lower in the room, that is away from any closed areas or placed in a metal cabinet, and 2) Changing radio channels. The latter is especially important in you live in an area where there are a number of competing Wi-Fi.
A good utility to find out, is iStumbler. You would use this to find these other Wi-Fi and find which have the strongest signal value. Those that do, you would also want to note which channel they are operating on, and then, change yours to one that is at least 3-5 channels away. So, for example, if you find strong ones on channels 1 & 6, change yours to 11.

  • Bug: Why does PP Conform and reconform same video clips over and over again?

Any time I click out of PP and then come back to the program from ANYWHERE (even the desktop), PP starts to conform my files.
For example, I have a very simple test project open with four 5-minute clips in it. All the files have done their "conforming." But I click outside of PP and then immediately click back inside and it starts conforming one or more of the files that it had already previously conformed. This happens every other time I click out of PP.
Shouldn't a file that has already been conformed need to go through that just one time in a project?
I'm thinking that my bug has something to do with this now since things go crazy slow while conforming. It has always done this with larger projects, but I thought it was clips that hadn't been conformed before. Now that I only have a few clips to keep my eye on, I see it is conforming and reconforming the same clips over and over again every time I come back to PP.
Here's a screencast video of the problem.  You can see it reconforms the same files over and over again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFrXk4nTpwo

I'll describe what happens first, as it makes the explanations of the failure cases a little more clear.
PPro generates two potential sidecar files for audio - PEK and CFA files.  The PEK file is simply a quick data pass of the audio data that allows the app to draw waveforms (ie it should be pretty quick) - the CFA files are required if the file source is either too slow to decode the audio in realtime (like some MPEG long GOP, for instance), or if there's a mismatch in the sample rate depth.  The idea is that the conform files will match your sequence's audio bitrate settings so that the app can play & mix audio in realtime.
How does PPro track these additional files?  Every file that is imported is stamped with XMP, which is how we handle metadata on source files.  XMP creates a unique ID which the app uses as a lookup value when it wants to find the PEK & CFA files that it generated for a file.  So, usually, if you have a project where certain clips constantly reconform, it has something to do with XMP.  Why? Usually it's because XMP can't write to the file.  So, every time you launch PPro and open the same project, the media file has no XMP data, so it tries to generate a new ID, so any old CFA/PEK files have an ID mismatch and the app thinks it needs to generate new ones.
Typical cases why XMP can't stamp files:
    - the media file is read-only.
    - the media's hard drive is read-only.
    - the file itself is corrupted/malformed, and XMP takes the safe route & decides not to try to write any additional data to the file.  (I've personally witnessed this occur with WAV files captured by a Tascam field recorder.)
    - someone deleted the XMP files by hand (certain media types have it as a sidecar .XMP file instead of embedded).  (Don't laugh - I recently encountered a case where people had instituted a server folder rule to delete all files on a network share that weren't .mpg. )
    A workaround you can try:
There's a preference setting to turn off injecting XMP into your media.  If that setting is in effect, PPro will not rely on the XMP ID for the CFA/PEK files.
One other note, if your problem is specific to MPEG files:  it might be that PPro isn't able to index the file properly.  If it can't index, it might be trying to re-index on each launch;  audio conforming always triggers after indexing.   So watch for it constantly indexing - if that's the case, all the XMP stuff I described above has nothing to do with the problem.  It's a side effect of something in the MPEG stream that we're barfing on.  If you do see it constantly re-indexing MPEG files, it would be really helpful to send in a sample so that we can examine the stream.
    Cheers

  • "You need to install Switchboard"...over and over and over...

Okay, running kuler Desktop on my Mac, G5 PPC running 10.5.8 OS.
I downloaded kuler Desktop, figured it looked like an awesome way to speed up my using this online tool and even bring swatches directly into my CS3 apps.
However, I have AIR installed, kuler Desktop, and when I went to use the Photoshop or Illustrator import options, it immediately popped up saying I had to install Switchboard.  Fine.  I downloaded it, installed it, restarted kuler Desktop.
It did it again.  Okay, fine.  I dumped everything, including kuler Desktop, re-installed everything, even restarted the whole computer.  But when I go to do anything other than download it to the desktop, when I go to bring it into any of the CS3 apps, I keep getting the same "You must install Switchboard" option.  And yes, I've tried dumping the plist and preferences files as well, to no avail.  And yes, the applications I've tried have been open at the time.  I did some searching and reading on this before posting about it, to try and find if someone had reported a similar issue.  But nobody mentioned the Switchboard install thing coming up over and over again, just that the feature wasn't working, so I thought I'd post specifically about this to see if it's the same issue or if there's as yet a solution for it so it works properly.
What's going on? Is kuler Desktop for Mac just fundamentally not yet working right or what?
I really want to use this app, but if all I can do with it is download the straight ASE files to my desktop, I might as well dump it and go back to using the online version since that at least is a bigger display.  I like the desktop version because it's fast, directly on my computer, and has this advertised import-into-CS3 option that would save me some time if it worked.  I've attached a screen capture so you can see exactly what I keep getting when this happens.
Any help to clarify this or correct it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Reboot your computer, then try to log in.

  • Finder totally broken. Just spits out the alert sound over and over

Some times Finder works, and some times it doesn't. If I'm lucky and it works at start up, with in an hour or two it's back to not working.
When it doesn't work, Finder just spits out the alert sound over and over non-stop, and some times also spits out another type of sound at the same time, even with the keyboard unplugged.
I also can't use the drop-down options, move files, or change settings that require a password. When trying to type, you get one or two letters in, and it then quickly closes.
It just suddenly started doing this.

There's a total of 77 CGContext errors. If you want me to, I'll post them all, but I think only the CGContext name is different on them all, and I think I got one of each CGContext error. 'Overall degradation of system stability and reliability.' It sure has that right!!!!
1/16/15 12:29:09.558 PM Finder[201]: Layout still needs update after calling -[TListScrollView layout].  TListScrollView or one of its superclasses may have overridden -layout without calling super. Or, something may have dirtied layout in the middle of updating it.  Both are programming errors in Cocoa Autolayout.  The former is pretty likely to arise if some pre-Cocoa Autolayout class had a method called layout, but it should be fixed.

    Hello,
I need an advice on how to go about this. My Oracle 9i DBA Certificate got burnt in a fire accident and I need to get a new copy from oracle. Would like to know how to go about it. I really need a new copy ASAP. Who am I meant to write in oracle?. Its very important. Would appreciate ur feedbacks.
ThanksAs far as I am aware Oracle does not to resends for for Certificates from once they are received. If they were doing this for free the exam prices will go up even more. No doubt there is a revenue stream in this and we'll be charged for success kits soon.
    - you can browse the support FAQ's if your like ... [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82#5Q1A] ... the section on + I have not received my certification success kit. What do I do?+ is the closest to relevant.
    - What you can usefully do for yourself is register to Certview. You can then publish details of your certification:-

  • Won't boot. Gong sound and Black screen alternate over and over and over.

So yesterday, on a Mac Pro (newer, came with slim keyboarboard) I tried to launch iPhoto. The Icon bounced as though it was opening like 4 different times then suddenly the screen dropped to a really low resolution (i could tell by the size of the cursor) and all blue. Nothing would save it, so I forced it to shut down. Now, when trying to boot it cycles between the gong and a black screen. Over, and over. Even when booting from a disk. If I hold down option it will take me to the screen to select a drive/disk/partition to boot from, but as soon as one is selected: black, gong, black, gong, etc.
I think it's important to note that this bad boy is equipped with Faronics Deep Freeze. It's had problems 3 times within the past month or so, where a clean re-image is necessary. Any ideas on the problem would be great!

    Hi Riley Florence;
I hope you have a back up because it sounds like your hard drive has given up. I suggest that it time for it to go back to Apple.
After reading some of the reviews on Faronica Deep Freeze and its security vulnerabilities, I am not going to install it on any of my Macs.

  • Is there a way to create an e-mail template to send over and over again to different people?

Can I create a template and use it over and over again? I found where I was able to save an e-mail as a template but I cannot find where to access it to be able to send it.

  • Voice memos keeps emailing the same memo over and over.

I used voice memos just once two days ago. I created a short (30 secs) memo and emailed it to my yahoo account. The file keeps getting sent to my inbox. 20 times so far! I've deleted it from voice memo but it keeps getting sent. HOW DO I STOP IT! Anyone else had this problem? I'm with virgin mobile in Australia.

I have had this exact same problem. Over the past few days I've been e-mailed the same voice memo at least 50 times. I also have a yahoo account, maybe this has something to do with it. I even deleted the voice memo from my iPhone but it continues to be e-mailed over and over.
I don't have a solution, just wanted you to know it's happened to me too.
