Importing Script Object
Is it possible to make a Script Object part of the library in order for quick drag-and-drop additions to forms?
I don't know what you're doing wrong. It works for me. The subform acts as a wrapper so that you can add the script object to the custom library.
- From the library tab, drag a subform onto your form.
- In the hierarchy tab, right click the subform that you just added and click "insert script object"
- Put your code in the script object.
- Drag the subform from the Design View (not the hierarchy) to the Custom library tab for sharing/reuse.
- In the hierarchy, move the script object from the subform node to the page node
- Delete the subform.
To use the script object.
- Drag the custom subform onto the Design View
- In the hierarchy, move the script object under the page node
- Delete the subform.

Automating Importing a Visio OLE Object or Changing the Source of a Previously Imported OLE Object
My colleagues and I import our Visio files into FrameMaker 10 via the following mechanism: File > Import > Object... > Create from File (with Link checked). We do this because, for us, the benefits of object linking and embedding outweight the pitfalls. In order to institute and automate a graphic file naming convention, I want to be able to do one of the following using ExtendScript:
Replace each Visio OLE object with that of a renamed or new Visio file. (I've tried using the Import() method with many different import-script settings, but have not found the correct import-script, if such a thing exists for importing Visio files imported by reference and linked as OLE objects. My typical error when attempting this is FV_DisallowedImportType, which indicates the source file type is disallowed by my import-script settings. When I talk about my import-script settings, I'm referring to the adjustments that I make to the parameters returned from a call to GetImportDefaultParams(). I've tried numerous import-script combinations but have had no luck. )
Rename the Visio source file and change the source file of an already-linked Visio OLE object. (To do this, I need to determine how to implement a script that equals the following user actions while a FM document is open: clicking on Links... under the Edit menu to bring-up the Links window; selecting each link displayed in the Links window; clicking the Change Source button for each selected link; entering the new file name in the File name field of the Change Source window; clicking Open. Needless to say, I found nothing in the ExtendScript capabilities that indicates that this approach is doable. It may be doable using FDK F_Codes, I haven't explored that avenue and would like to avoid it.)
Modify the OLE2 facet such that it points to the renamed file instead of the previous name for the file. (This does not seem like a clean approach. As is the case now, I don't know how to properly update the facet with the new file name. I've experimented with simply changing the file name strings from new to old, but that does not work. There's probably some error-checking or checksum that needs to be recomputed. Bottom line: I don't know enough about facets.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, PaulHi Paul,
I tried doing something like this years ago with FrameScript, but found out that the OLE stuff is not exposed to FrameScript or the FDK. So it is probably not exposed to ExtendScript either. When you query an OLE graphic's InsetFile property, it returns a null string, the same as a graphic Imported by Copy would. As far as I can see, importing as an OLE object is only available through the Windows FrameMaker interface.

Edited by: DBS on Feb 9, 2012 10:21 PMHi,
I found the problem.It was because of the connection string.The format was different for oracle tables.
PFB the format
*cnss.open"Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle.1;Data Source= servername:port/SID;Database= DB;User Id=aaaa;Password=aaaa;"*
And thanks *SH* for quick response.
So closing the thread......

Import script (SQL to FDM) - ConnectionRead error
Hi,
I have written an import script in FDM to load data from a SQL view. This script works fine when loading approx 5,000 rows, however, fails when trying to load 20k+ rows
The error message I am receiving is:
Detail: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionRead (recv()).
At line: 72
Line 72 = rs.movenext 'moves to the next record in the SQL view.
I have tried ignoring a few columns in the import script (to reduce the data volume) - this works, however I need all columns.
Below is a copy of the script:
Function COG1_BrandPL(strLoc, lngCatKey, dblPerKey, strWorkTableName)
Dim cnSS 'ADO connection object
Dim strSQL 'SQL string
Dim rs 'Source (Cognos) recordset
Dim rsAppend 'FDM recordset
'Initialize ADO objects
Set cnSS = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
Set rs = CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
'Open FDM table recordset for appending
Set rsAppend = DW.DataAccess.farsTableAppend(strWorkTableName)
'Connect to SQL Server database
cnSS.open "Driver={SQL Server};Server=XXXXXXXXX;OLE DB Services =-2;Database=XXXXXX;Uid=USER;Pwd=PASSWORD;"
'Create SQL query string
strSQL = "Select * FROM Corporate_PLUOP_view"
'Open source recordset
rs.Open strSQL, cnSS
'Check for data in source system
If rs.bof AND rs.eof Then
RES.PlngActionType = 2
RES.PstrActionValue = "No records to load!"
COG1_BrandPL = False
Exit Function
End If
'Loop through source records and append to FDM table
If Not rs.bof And Not rs.eof Then
Do While Not rs.eof
rsAppend.AddNew
rsAppend.Fields("PartitionKey") = RES.PlngLocKey
rsAppend.Fields("CatKey") = lngCatKey
rsAppend.Fields("PeriodKey") = dblPerKey
rsAppend.Fields("DataView") = "YTD"
'From Cognos
rsAppend.Fields("UD3") = rs.fields("Cube").value
rsAppend.Fields("Entity") = rs.fields("Entity").value
rsAppend.Fields("UD1") = rs.fields("Custom1").value
rsAppend.Fields("Account") = rs.fields("Account").value
rsAppend.Fields("ICP") = rs.fields("ICP").value
rsAppend.Fields("UD2") = rs.fields("Custom2").value
rsAppend.Fields("Amount") = rs.fields("QPR_Value").value
rsAppend.Update
rs.movenext
Loop
End If
rs.close
cnSS.close
'Assign Return value
COG1_BrandPL = True
End Function
The only other thing I have tried is copying and pasting the script to Excel.... This works for ALL rows... so seems to be a communication issue between FDM and SQL?
Any ideas?Bit more info:
I am using FDM 9.3.1
SQL Server 2005 on Windows 2003 Enterprise x64

Can't import BIP object using BIPCatlogUtil
I am using the BIPCatalogUtil script to upload an object to the RC7 BIP server in our OVM environment.
ade:[ minglin_FAMIGSBL ] [minglin@den65041fwks bin]$ ./BIPCatalogUtil.sh -import source=/home/minglin/view_storage/minglin_FAMIGSBL/BIPCatalogUtil/MyImportExport/bipub/CrmDataMigration/datamodels/DVMValidationDm mode=fusionapp
The script shows the following output on the command line:
[import] Connect to https://crm-siebel-mig.us.oracle.com:10622/xmlpserver/ using ProvAdmin
[import] Import "DVMValidationDm" from "/home/minglin/view_storage/minglin_FAMIGSBL/BIPCatalogUtil/MyImportExport/bipub/CrmDataMigration/datamodels" to "/DataMigration/DomainValueMappings/DVMValidationDm.xdm"
Command Error: import->importObject
oracle.xdo.webservice.exception.OperationFailedException: PublicReportServiceImpl::executeUploadReport Failure: Due to unable to create new Report Object as AbsolutePath [DataMigration/DomainValueMappings/DVMValidationDm.xdm] due to java.io.IOException: Stream closedDone.
The server side trace below shows that the user "ProvAdmin" used to import the object is somehow Impersonate to BIEE as "BISystemUser". Is the failure due to security?

Hi guys,
Here is my question ! Though we know, we cn't use API in import scripts, is there any chance to use API in import scripts ? :)
Without using API in import scripts, How can we call a script in another script or within the same script ? (using functions like fImportScripts etc)
Thank you in advance !!I have no problem understanding your question. However the key sentence in my reply was You'll get better answers if you ask specific questions. The reason I ask you to be specific is, if I knew WHY you want to use the API in an import script, I might be able to make suggestions how to solve for your requirements by going a different way.
I want to help you, but I need something concrete to go on.
Regarding the API question you ask:
Well, I guess the general answer is no. The API object is out of context when an import script runs. I imagine this prevents users from coding something during the import that would cause FDM to get tangled in itself by allowing direct access to runtime objects and data. Whatever the reason, that's the way FDM is designed, and you must code within this design in order to get support. This is the long way around the same answer I gave you previously.
However, the second part of your question, can you call other scripts from the import script: Yes, absolutely. You can launch processes too.

FDM - Building Integration Import Scripts
Hi All,
I am trying to write an Integration Script to load SQL Server data into FDM 9.3.1. The script initialises a recordset object for the worktable that the source SQL Server data is loaded into.
The statement at which my script fails is:
Set rsAppend = DW.DataAccess.farsTable(strWorkTableName)*
I have followed the sample script documented in the FDM Admin Guide.
Does anyone have ideas as to why the script fails at this statement?
Thanks,Hi everyone,
I was wondering if sending the sample code would help get a clearer picture....
Function CTIDB2Test(strLoc, lngCatKey, dblPerKey, strWorkTableName)
'Hyperion FDM Integration Import Script:
'Created By: admin
'Date Created: 2/19/2009 1:16:59 PM
'Purpose: This import integration script connects to the CentroODS database
' and imports Actuals data from the generalLedgerMasterFile and glMasterAccount table into FDM
Dim cnSS 'ADO Connection object
Dim strSQL ' SQL String
Dim rs ' Source System recordset
Dim rsAppend ' FDM recordset
Dim sPOVString
Dim sPOVPeriod
Dim sDataCol
' Initialise the ADO objects
Set cnSS = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
Set rs = CreateObject("ADODB.RecordSet")
Set rsAppend = DW.DataAccess.farsTableAppend(strWorkTableName)
The script fails at the statement:
Set rsAppend = DW.DataAccess.farsTableAppend(strWorkTableName)
Thanks -
Newbie demystifying Import script
I am new to FDM (and VBscript) and need some clarification on an previously written script in order to fully comprehend what happens when it is executed. Could somebody explain what this part of the FDM Import script does.
strSQL = "Select * FROM tmAccount where tmAccount.Account=" & "'"& AccountSp & "'"
Set rsAllocate = DW.DataAccess.farssnap(CStr(strSQL))
Set RES.PcolRecs = DW.DBTools.fCreateRecCol
RES.PcolRecs.PblnAdd = True
RES.PcolRecs.PblnUpdate = False
I think it is some kind of API statement but have not been able to pinpoint its objective.The info in the Admin and API guides are quite limited.
I appreciate any info you guys have on this matter.
StefanAs the previous poster stated, its hard to tell exactly what is happening since we only have a portion of the script; however, I will decrypt the commands a bit more for you :
DW.DataAccess.farssnap --> Opens an ADO static type readonly recordset
** In your code the recordset would be assigned to rsAllocate which is going to have results from the SQL Query Select * from tmAccount where tmAccount.Account = <AccountSp> **
As we have no idea what is in <AccountSp>, I can't say what its grabbing for sure. Also, tmAccount is not a standard FDM account as far as I can tell. I would have to guess its part of a custom solution?
DW.DBTools.fCreateRecCol --> Return a reference to a FDM custom record collection used for complex import formats. This reference is an object of records.
PcolRecs.PblnAdd = True --> This is a property of the fCreateRecCol object (see above). Having this set to true indicates that you will be creating a new record.
PcolRecs.PBlnUpdate = False --> This is a property of the fCreateRecCol object. Having this set to false indicates that you are not updating a record.
My guess/hunch is that somewhere farther down in your script you are taking whatever you read from the select statement and inserting it into the custom record collection since its been configured to add a new record.
Hope that helps -
Hi,
I have beginner skills using LC Designer ES and am trying to insert and use a script object. I found a JavaScript function online: http://home.online.no/~pjacklam/notes/invnorm/impl/misra/normsinv.html and am trying to get it to do some math calculations in a Designer form.
I've uploaded a sample test form at: http://elearningprojects.com/TestFormula1.pdf
Can't get it to work.Trying to run the JS formula in the script object (by clicking on a button), using a few hard-coded variables, and display the results (Dprime1 and Dprime2) in 2 text fields.
I would much appreciate if someone can take a look and suggest how to get it working correctly.
Thanks for your help.
Kind Regards,
saratogacoachHi Paul,
Thank you for your reply and suggestions. With beginner skills in LC Designer (I'm a retired social worker), I am not sure how to do this.
Is my identifying the script object path correct?
form1.#subform[0].#variables[0].SO1.function_name(NORMSINV(p));
When you say "You are calling this function a few times in your code so you will have to modify each call." I am not sure how to change this.
I currently have (note that I added the SO1. to the function calls):
var p = totalscore5
var probit1 = SO1.NORMSINV(p)
var p = totalscore6
var probit2 = SO1.NORMSINV(p)
var Dprime1 = probit1-probit2
var p = totalscore8
var probit3 = SO1.NORMSINV(p)
var p = totalscore7
var probit4 = SO1.NORMSINV(p)
var Dprime2 = probit3-probit4
Can you specify what a modified script would look like? I'm stuck.
Also, have I set up displaying the Dprime1 variable's value in the TextField1 correctly?
Thanks very much for your help.

Can anybody help me out on this.
Regards,
Sumit Singh ChadhaHi,
don't mentioning why are You importing SYSTEM objects, the error that You have, just looking the message, is due to an export done without the clause CONSISTENT=Y (so all relations parent/child preserved) having the replication (the table in error is one of the replication dictionary table) active (not quisced)
Repeat the export operation using CONSISTENT=Y an stop replication activity.
Hope this helps

Error in importing Configuration objects of PI 7.0 to PI 7.1
Hi All,
My server is upgraded from PI 7.0 to PI 7.1.
I am getting Error while importing Configuration objects of PI 7.0 to PI 7.1 now.
Pls see the below error
Attempt to access the 1 requested objects on 1 failed. Detailed information: com.sap.aii.ib.core.roa.RoaObjectAccessException: Attempt to read object Adapter Metadata Mail | http://sap.com/xi/XI/System, type AdapterMetaData from application REPOSITORY on system REPOSITORY failed. Object does not exist. Detailed informatio n: Software component version with key ID: b38bcd00e47111d7afacde420a1145a5 not found
Pls suggestHi,
It seems that adapter metadata has not been loaded into integration repository and because of that when you are trying to import configuration objects in ID then you are getting the error.
The SAP adapter metadata objects are located under the namespace http://sap.com/xi/XI/System of software component SAP BASIS.
What you can do is, if you have installation dvd's then you can copy from their or you can simply [_DOWNLOAD_|https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000001943&_EVENT=SEARCH&HIDE=&SEARCH_SPAT=X&SEARCH_BPAT=X&SEARCH_CD=X&SEARCH_P=X&SEARCH_PV=X&SEARCH_C=X&SEARCH_CV=X&SEARCH_TA=&SEARCH_V=&HIDE_EXPERT_SEARCH=X&SEARCH_MAX_RESULT=20 ] from sap market place (refer this [thread|how to import Adapter metadata;) (you must have S-user id for this) and then after you need to do as mentioned below...
1. First unzip the file (if it is zipped) and then put it in the import directory: \usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\global\xi\repository_server\import\
2. Now login to IR and then from menu TOOLS ---> Import design objects and import it.
3. After that in ID, Environment ---> Clear SLD Data Cache
4. Now you can try to import configuration objects...

i will check all the class files and xml files of Application Module below top, all are there in the server top(below top)
/u02/TST22/apps/apps_st/comn/java/classes/xxfls
but i got the exception.
is there any different structure in R12.
i.ein the server top /u02/TST22/apps/apps_st/comn/java/classes/xxfls (Here my all class files in Binary mode and xml files in ASCII mode)
only CLASS files are needed or XML files are also need.(i am moving all CLASS and XML files)
could you please help me on this.
Thanks with Regards,
MuthuMuthu,
This issue usually occurs when the AM.class file is not available at the given location. Try to find out on the server whether this
tflsm.oracle.apps.po.per.server.TflsmAM exists.
If still the problem persists then go for redeployement by deleting the existing one.

Importance of object dependency type procedure
Hi Friend,
Good Morningu2026
Could any one explain the importance of object dependency type procedure and its uses with same scenario.
Thanks in advance,
Mohan MHi Mohan,
Procedures are used to infer values for charecterisitcs. These are a type of object dependencies used in VC.
Procedures can overwrite defualt values or they can set defualt values for charecterisitcs, several procedures can be assigned to an object (for eg. a BOM item or operation) and define processing sequence.
These are maintained in Charecteristics, Charecteristic values, configuration profiles, BOM item, Routing operation etc.
Eg: Processing Sequence:
A configurable material has characteristics COLOR and PRESSURE. The following procedures are allocated to the configuration profile of the material.
0010 $SELF.COLOR = u2018GREENu2019 IF PRESSURE >= 10
0020 $SELF.COLOR = u2018YELLOWu2019 IF PRESSURE >= 50
0030 $SELF.COLOR = u2018REDu2019 IF PRESSURE >= 100
The sort sequence ensures that pressure greater than or equal to 100 always sets the color u2018redu2019.
Inferring Charecteristic Values with procedures:
Let's assume Configurable material BIKE has the following characteristics:
CharacteristicS AND THEIR Values
WEIGHT
FRAME Aluminum 10 KG
Steel 14 KG
EXTRAS (multiple-value) Mudguard 0.5 kg
Luggage rack 1.0 kG
Procedure
1. Create a procedure for the weight of the BIKE, depending on the frame.
2. This procedure has the following source code:
$SELF. WEIGHT = 10 if FRAME = u2018Aluminumu2019,
$SELF. WEIGHT = 14 if FRAME = u2018Steelu2019.
3. Allocate the procedure to the configuration profile of material BIKE.
The weight of a bicycle increases if you select additional extras, such as mudguard or luggage
rack.
1. You define a procedure with the following source code:
$SELF.WEIGHT = $SELF.WEIGHT + 0.5 if EXTRAS = 'Mudguard',
$SELF.WEIGHT = $SELF.WEIGHT + 1 if EXTRAS = 'Luggage rack'
2. Allocate the procedure to the configuration profile of material BIKE.
Result
1. When you configure the bike, the value u2018Aluminumu2019 is selected for characteristic FRAME.
This triggers the first procedure, which sets the value 10 kg as the WEIGHT.
2. Characteristic EXTRAS has values u2018Mudguardu2019 and u2018Luggage racku2019. This triggers the
second procedure, which increases the value of characteristic WEIGHT to 11.5 kg.
You can also use procedures to count or summurize values of charecterisitics.
You can use procedure to change the values in master data such as BOM / routing. and also to maintain default values.
Hope this will be helpful to you. Any queries, Please post.

Subtracting Columns from Import File Using Import Script
The file I am importing to FDM contains two amount columns, 1 Debit, 1 Credit. I want to have the Amount field populate as the Debit minus Credits. I have attempted an import script that is giving me an error in the bolded line:
Function GBS_Amount(strField, strRecord)
'Oracle Hyperion FDM Integration Import Script:
'Created By:
'Date Created:
'Purpose:
'Set variables
dim strNatural
dim strCurmnthDR
dim strCurmnthCR
dim strCurAmount
'Store the Natural Account as Column 1 of 11 of a comma delimited file
strNatural = Trim(DW.Utilities.fParseString(strRecord, 11, 1, ","))
'Store the Current Month Debit Amount as Column 7 of 11 of a comma delimited file
strCurmnthDR = Trim(DW.Utilities.fParseString(strRecord, 11, 7, ","))
'Store the Current Month Credit Amount as Column 8 of 11 of a comma delimited file
strCurmnthCR = Trim(DW.Utilities.fParseString(strRecord, 11, 8, ","))
'Calculate the YTD Amount
strCurAmount = strCurmnthDR - strCurmnthCR
GBS_Amount = strCurAmount
End If
End Function
What syntax do I need to use to subtract two defined variables?Hi Experts,
I have a similar situation,I am trying to import the Multiple amount columns to be addedd and imported as one amount column.Below is the script I am using for the same,script is getting verified in Script editor but When I am trying to Load the File in import, I am gettig an error as below.but if I try to import without using the script for the amount, inport is getting done.I have attached script to amount column only.
