Importing tables with OMB+

Hello all,
I would like to import some tables, but not their constraints and I have not been able to do this through the OWB GUI (version 10.2), so I thought maybe I could do it using OMB+
Does anybody know whether it is possible to import tables in a module using OMB+?
As far as I have understood, (and please, correct me if I'm wrong!) OMBIMPORT only imports .mdl files and OMBRETRIEVE only gives you information about the existing tables in the repository.
Thanks a lot in advance,
Nerina

Yes, you can import directly from your metadata source using OMB+, but as with the gui I beleive that it will import the FULL definition of the table, and that will include the constraints.
However, if you want to play with this: You need to first connect to your repository, CC to your project, and then give it your password to your defined metadata location for your module (assuming that you normally need to set this). I have a config file of all relevant info, so you will be seeing a whole lot of dollar signs in this cut-paste job...
#Connect to Design Repository
set print [OMBCONNECT $OWB_DEG_USER/$OWB_DEG_PASS@$OWB_DEG_HOST:$OWB_DEG_PORT:$OWB_DEG_SIT USE REPOSITORY '$OWB_DEG_REPOS']
puts "$print"
#CC to Project
set print [OMBCC '$PROJECT_NAME_DEV']
puts "$print"
#Enter Password to allow imports and deployments
#NOTE: This needs to be modified to use paramters for proper release management.
set print [OMBALTER LOCATION '$METADATA_LOCATION' SET PROPERTIES (PASSWORD) VALUES ('$PASSWORD')]
puts "$print"
OMBCOMMIT
OMBSAVEOK, now you need to create your transient import plan, and then import from metadata location for each table.
Sooo. assuming a table called SOURCE_TABLE you would do something like:
set err [catch {
set print [eval OMBCREATE TRANSIENT IMPORT_ACTION_PLAN 'IMPORT_ACTION1' \
                     ADD ACTION 'IMPORT_ACTION' \
SET REF SOURCE TABLE 'SOURCE_TABLE' \
                     SET REF TARGET ORACLE_MODULE 'MY_MODULE_NAME']
   puts "$print"
set print [OMBIMPORT FROM METADATA_LOCATION FOR IMPORT_ACTION_PLAN 'IMPORT_ACTION1']
    puts "$print"
} errMsg]
if {$err != 0} {
          puts "ERROR Importing: SOURCE_TABLE!!!"
           puts "ERRMSG: $errMsg"
}You can use this to import tables, sequences, and views from the defined metadata location by changing the source type in the action plan. Of course, you will also want to delete the action plan once you are done with it.
Cheers,
Mike

    >
Well, its not possible. You can import those two tables in some test database, rename them and then take the export and import in the database you want.
    Or,
You can import those 2 tables in some other schema in your database, rename them again take the export and them import it.

  • Import tables with nested table : ORA-00600

    In Oracle 9.2
Create object, type as table, and table with nested table (store as syms_ntab) are successfully.

But for all that table is created and error occur on phase inserting strings.
    What is this?
In Oracle 8.0.5 i perform similar operation without error.

From Oracle error messages and codes manual:
ORA-00600 internal error code, arguments: [string], [string], [string], [string], [string], [string], [string], [string]
Cause: This is the generic internal error number for Oracle program exceptions. It indicates that a process has encountered a low-level, unexpected condition. Causes of this message include:
    * timeouts
    * file corruption
    * failed data checks in memory
    * hardware, memory, or I/O errors
    * incorrectly restored files
The first argument is the internal message number. Other arguments are various numbers, names, and character strings. The numbers may change meanings between different versions of Oracle.
Action: Report this error to Oracle Support Services after gathering the following information:
    * events that led up to the error
    * the operations that were attempted that led to the error
    * the conditions of the operating system and databases at the time of the error
    * any unusual circumstances that occurred before receiving the ORA-00600 message

    =============================================
    Hi Tom,
I have a dump file containing blob datatypes, when i import the dump file in a schema it gives an
error stating that the tablespace for Blob datatype does not exists. My question is how do i import
the dump file in the default tablespace of the importing user.
    Followup March 2, 2004 - 7am US/Eastern:
You'll have to precreate the table.
    do this:
    imp userid=u/p tables=that_table indexfile=that_table.sql
edit that_table.sql, fix up the tablespace references to be whatever you want to be, run that sql.
    then imp with ignore=y
for any MULTI-SEGMENT object (iot's with overflows, tables with lobs, partitioned tables, for
example), you have to do this -- imp will not rewrite ALL of the tablespaces in that
multi-tablespace create -- hence you either need to have the same tablespaces in place or precreate
the object with the proper tablespaces.
Only for single tablespace segments will imp rewrite the create to go into the default if the
    requested tablespace does not exist.
    ===================================================
To summarize: precreate target table when importing multi-segment tables

  • Importing table with mixed case on MySQL

I am trying to import a table form MySQL 5.0.  Two tables exist with the same name, with first letter capital in one and all lower case in the other (ex. Jobdetails, jobdetails).  After hitting the Show ATL button on the data source, all case sensitive settings are Yes.  The table with the first letter capital is always imported no matter which table is selected.  I can't import the lower case table.  I am on Data Services 12.2.

I have found that patchSet 9.2.0.3 fixes some bugs in Oracle Text.
One of them is Bug 2684307: "Mixed tokens not uppercased with BASE_LETTER in multibyte database". That's exactly the problem i am dealing with.
I will proceed to install this patchSet and verify that this does not happend anymore.

  • Importing tables with linked cell data from excel to indesign

    Hey,
I'm designing a catalog and have been linking the tables in InDesign from a spreadsheet in excel. In my spreadsheet, I am linking cells from a master sheet to another sheet so that I when I update the information on one sheet, it will update throughout the spreadsheet.
Now that I have the linked cells set up in my spreadsheet, I've inputed the tables into InDesign but: the table cells in InDesign containing linked cells from within the spreadsheet do not appear.
I've gone through all the import table options in InDesign and cannot find a way to make it work.
Does anyone have an answer or input?
    Thanks,
    KT

When we are updating the excel sheet it automatically updates the link in InDesign and it's continually changing. Does CSV break the links in excel or does it keep them and allows InDesign to read the linked cells as well?
    Thanks for your response!

  • Export and import tables with and without data

I have few table which i want to take export with data and some without data, and import that in new db? Send me the command plz for this.

exp and imp all have a flag
    ROWS import data rows (Y/N)

You will need do export twice,
ROWS=Y first with list of tables that need data
and ROWS=N with list of tables without data.

  • Import table with BLOB Column

    hi
I would like to export table "A" containing data in BLOB column and then import the same table into another user's table "B".
    i got the following error
    ORA-06502PL/SQL: numeric or value error

When you export from one user's table A to another user table B. you should have privilege to import from the user X.
    Do this
    exp system/password file=filename.dmp log=filename.log tables=A owner=X
    exp scott/tiger file=emp.dmp tables=(emp,dept)
    imp scott/tiger file=emp.dmp full=yes
    imp system/password file=filename.dmp log=filename1.log fromuser=X touser=Y tables=A
Now table A is imported into Y schema. drop the table B(if you do not need old table B) then rename table A to B.
If you need old data in Table B then generate insert statements for the data and insert them into new table B

    Hi All,
I am using obiee 11g and oracle 11g database for windows64 bit . I could not import the tables from oracle database in admin using OCI 10\11g.
    I did copy tnsnames.ora to {Oracle_BI1}\network\admin directory & {oracle_common}\network\admin directory and Set up TNS_ADMIN to{Oracle_BI1}\network\admin
In addition to that I have set oracle_home to {Oracle_BI1} , path to {Oracle_BI1}\bin , oracle_sid to ORCL. In the user.cmd command too I have set tns_name{Oracle_BI1}\network\admin
When i do lsnrctl or try to open sqlplus , it shows the error. I even copied listener file to {Oracle_BI1}\network\admin directory & {oracle_common}\network\admin directory and Set up TNS_ADMIN to{Oracle_BI1}\network\admin
Do I need to revert the oracle_home,path,tns_admin to original one C:\app\user\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1....
    Am I missing anything?
    Thanks,

When you add tns entry at ORACLE_HOME/network/admin that should work.
Try using tns entry at Data source at connection pool like
    IT =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = foo)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = foo.corp)
    )

    Hello,
    U can either
    1) create a tablespace with the same name in destination where you are trying to import.
    2) get the ddl of the table, modify the tablespace name to reflect the existing tablespace name in destination and run the ddl in the destination database, and run your import command with option ignore=y--> which will ignore all the create errors.

Backup/Restore : copy entire database content
If you have not the DDLs, you can generate them using IQ cockpit or SCC.

  • SSIS 2012 is intermittently failing with below "Invalid date format" while importing data from a source table into a Destination table with same exact schema.

We migrated Packages from SSIS 2008 to 2012. The Package is working fine in all the environments except in one of our environment.
SSIS 2012 is intermittently failing with below error while importing data from a source table into a Destination table with same exact schema.
    Error: 2014-01-28 15:52:05.19
       Code: 0x80004005
       Source: xxxxxxxx SSIS.Pipeline
       Description: Unspecified error
    End Error
    Error: 2014-01-28 15:52:05.19
       Code: 0xC0202009
Source: Process xxxxxx Load TableName [48]
Description: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.
An OLE DB record is available.  Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0"  Hresult: 0x80004005  Description: "Invalid date format".
    End Error
    Error: 2014-01-28 15:52:05.19
       Code: 0xC020901C
Source: Process xxxxxxxx Load TableName [48]
Description: There was an error with Load TableName.Inputs[OLE DB Destination Input].Columns[Updated] on Load TableName.Inputs[OLE DB Destination Input]. The column status returned was: "Conversion failed because the data value overflowed
    the specified type.".
    End Error
But when we reorder the column in "Updated" in Destination table, the package is importing data successfully.
This looks like bug to me, Any suggestion?

    Hi Mohideen,
Based on my research, the issue might be related to one of the following factors:
Memory pressure. Check there is a memory challenge when the issue occurs. In addition, if the package runs in 32-bit runtime on the specific server, use the 64-bit runtime instead.
A known issue with SQL Native Client. As a workaround, use .NET data provider instead of SNAC.
    Hope this helps.

  • Importing a table with a BLOB column is taking too long

I am importing a user schema from 9i (9.2.0.6) database to 10g (10.2.1.0) database. One of the large tables (millions of records) with a BLOB column is taking too long to import (more that 24 hours). I have tried all the tricks I know to speed up the import. Here are some of the setting:
    1 - set buffer to 500 Mb
2 - pre-created the table and turned off logging
    3 - set indexes=N
    4 - set constraints=N
    5 - I have 10 online redo logs with 200 MB each
6 - Even turned off logging at the database level with disablelogging = true
It is still taking too long loading the table with the BLOB column. The BLOB field contains PDF files.
    For your info:
Computer: Sun v490 with 16 CPUs, solaris 10
    memory: 10 Gigabytes
    SGA: 4 Gigabytes

    Legatti,
I have feedback=10000. However by monitoring the import, I know that its loading average of 130 records per minute. Which is very slow considering that the table contains close to two millions records.
    Thanks for your reply.
