SMB solution for Automotive Suppliers

Hi, I am a product manager for an SAP Business One partner. Recently, we decided to move to the supplier microvertical solution, but in order to do that we need to address which modules need to be included in the project scope. I reviewed the processes for the R3 solution map for suppliers.Does anyone know where I can find more info related (detailed) to this industry?. We need expert judment on this in order to define the product boundaries, so if any of you wants to work on this....it would be great!!
Thanks in advanced
Lucas Ritondale

Dear Lucas,
answering your question is not easy and the standard answer would be "it depends".
However I would say a SAP B1 company in automotive would first need to manage automotive processes on the customer facing side. Processes like the following will most likely be needed:
Receiving Forecast and JIT releases from the customer (scheduling agreement processing)
Manage Self Billing Process
Manage Handling Units/Packaging and Labelling (Handling Unit Management and Returnables)
evtl. Prio 2:
Receiving Just-In-Sequence Calls
Hope this helps.
Best regards,

The Portal Implementation is already done before I started working on it.
Now my scenario is as folows :
We need to implement EP Solution for Supplier Portal .
For this we want to know what are all the activities involved.
Can anyone throw some light on it ?

  • Solution for monitor power supply and raid 5 on x4150 server

    Hi everybody,
    a simple question :
my compagny have some server SunFire x4150 in some Datacenter, and there is a thing that we cannot really monitored remotly : the status of the 2 power supply and the status of the raid 5 of the server.
(i want to know if a power is down or if a disk is "dead")
We are using Nagios, cacti and munin actually, so can we use these interfaces for that?
if the answer is no, a script can be developed , if only i knew the command that can be used to take informations from the state of the raid5, i'll comunicate later the type of the raid card.
what are the best solutions availables for monitor those things?
    thanks by advance

We have some x4150s but they're running Linux. There are separate solutions for each of the 2 problems.
    1. For the power supplies, you can use the ELOM/ILOM system management interface (also used for monitoring the fans and temperature). If you've got it configured and connected to the network, you can set it up to email you about any events. We have the older ELOM firmware running, which includes the ability to add some actions to take in response to specific events. The new and supposedly better ILOM firmware doesn't seem to include this. Since this is IPMI compatible you can probably also hook into this using ipmitool or SNMP tools.
    2. For the RAID card, assuming it's the standard Adaptec (rebranded as StorageTek) controller, you can install and use StorMan software (it's on the tools & drivers CD if not pre-installed). Once again you can configure email notification from the StorMan GUI, but this time it relies on OS host services to do the mail forwarding via the host NIC.
I'm not familiar with the details of your network system admin tools, but hopefully these tips will provide pointers on what hooks are available for these tools to tie into. Presumably there's also Sun N1 management software which can probably do this in a more built-in way, but it sounds like you've already got more than enough management tools.

  • W530 – Solution for lack of eSATAp port

    Hi All,
When I was analyzing laptop specifications to buy a new one, I was disappointed because I have some external eSATA disks, and there were no eSATAp connector on any W530 model. Anyway, I brought one and I can assure you it is a solid and great machine.
Meanwhile I found a good and almost inexpensive solution for this problem. It is a small adapter from Addonics that connects to USB 3.0 port and converts to an eSATAp port. (Since I live in Portugal to avoid customs costs I got mine from Aimtec (UK)).
I measure transfers of 120 MB/s with my 2,5” external disk and so far I am totally satisfied with this solution. To avoid mechanical stress in the laptop port, I suggest using an small USB3.0 extension cable (15 cm) instead of connecting directly the adapter to the computer.
(NOTE: I have no comercial interest or own any stock options on the referred companies. My only purpose is to share with other members this workaround since Lenovo dropped the support of eSATAp ports on W530 model).

    Dear sophware,
I don't think this Sonnet adapter supplies power to the external drive. It is eSATA not eSATAp. In this case it is necessary to connect another cable to an USB port to supply power to the external disk.
In my own opinion I think it is better to have an external adapter than an internal one:
    a) If outside, the heat it generates will be dissipated in the air while the heat generated by the internal adapter will be added to the one already inside and generated by the CPU, graphics etc..
    b) Call me a too much careful person, but in case of internal adapter problem or short circuit, I prefer it occurs outside my machine. The electrical isolation is greater in a USB port than in the ExpressCard/34 Bus. Any electric pick or static discharge and the motherboard internal bus buffers may be damage.
These are the reasons why I choose an external adapter.
    Best regards,

  • What Mobile Sales solution for ERP 6.0 ?

    Hi colleagues,
I have serious difficulty to understand what is the SAP offering for Mobile Sales solutions for SPA ERP 6.0. SAP is vague and just say there IS solution for R/3 (?).
My questions are in two directions:
    1. About the "preconfigured" Mobile Sales offerings or xApps or whatever it is:
        - can we use SAP MSR 2.0 with ERP 6? If yes- are still the limitations described in Note OSS 735727 valid (use only with Microsoft PocketPC2003, PocketPC2003 SE and Win32 )
        - can we use  xMSA HH with ERP? If not - what this document refers for? : ( https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f635d890-0201-0010-d8b2-8380c23456ed )
    2. About the "Online" solutions
       -  Could the ERP Internet Sales be used with Handheld?
       - and if yes what are the pros and cons against using custom WebDynpro or ITS?
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Jordan

    Dear Jordan,
If I am not wrong you are talking about internet sales for R/3 when you say ERP internet sales, which is probably outdated by now. Nowadays SAP distributes something called as mySAP Business Suite which in brief is as follows:
    mySAP Business Suite :
    CRM - Customer Relationship Management
    ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning
    SCM - Supply Chain Management
    SRM - Supplier Relationship Management
    PLM - Product Lifecycle Management
    SAP Netweaver
    Solution Manager
The current Mobile Sales solutions need mySAP CRM. Some of your questions about the xApp Mobile Sales for Hand Held are already answered in this wiki:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/home/xmsaHandheldClient
Also you can get the installation guide, release notes from here in SMP:
    http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000668453&
About MSA HH 5.0  Device requirement- Yes you need to use Windows Mobile PDAs with Pocket PC 2003/ Windows Mobile5.0, Windows Mobile 6.0 OS.
There is another application, Mobile Sales Online, which can work with Blackberry Devices, technical information regarding which can be got from SMP here:
    http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000614083&
The info is a bit vague but once you are through with them, you will have the clarity you need. Please mark this thread as answered and my post as solved if my post answers your queries.
    Regards,
    Veera
Edit: You may also get in touch with your local SAP contact to get the contact info of the product team/manager of both the products above for the best clarity possible.

  • SAP Solution for Mini steel plant with DRI Process

    Dear all,
I am a metallurgist who spent couple of years in steel and process Industry and then moved to IT Consulting as SAP consultant / business analyst mainly working in the area of solution designing.
Here i will like to describe SAP solution for Mini steel plant with DRI proces.
    u201CManufacture Productsu201D Description
The series of operations performed upon material to convert it from the raw material or a semifinished state to a state of further completion. This includes the establishment and maintenance of a CAPEX plan, the planning, scheduling and execution of production activities, the dispositioning of produced goods, the maintenance of production data, the monitoring of production performance and the implementation of engineering changes.
    u201CManufacture Productsu201D Objectives
    M-010
Compile 3-year CAPEX Budget     Establish the overall manufacturing goals and metrics that the organization will use to measure performance and progress towards objectives. These goals should be consistent with overall organizational strategy/value propositions. Develop long-term goals for production capabilities and manufacturing. These goals should align with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
    M-050
Perform Long Range Production Planning     u201CBudgetingu201D. Long range planning of production quantities based on planned available capacities and known or estimated customer demands. This process may include planning for different capacity and/or demand scenarios. Approved capital expenditures from the 3-year CAPEX budget may influence the budget. Range and frequency for budgeting is yearly.
    M-060
Perform Medium Range Production Planning     Medium range planning of production quantities based on planned available capacities and known or estimated customer demands. This process may include planning for different capacity and/or demand scenarios.  Range and frequency for planning is quarterly.
    M-070
Perform Short Range Production Planning     Short term planning of production quantities based on capacities and demands as previously planned in the longer terms, actual customer demand and actual capacities. The result from short range production planning will run into the operational plan for the current and following days.  Range and frequency for planning is monthly.
    M-080
Schedule Production     This sub-process enables detailed scheduling by resources over the planning horizon. Planned orders that fulfill demands (Stock Transfer Requisitions, Sales Forecasts and Customer Orders defined by due-dates and due-quantities) come from the short range plan. This results in a feasible schedule, optimizing utilization of the production resources. It is based on production process constraints as well as labor resources in order to minimize production costs and also taking into account constraining raw materials availability.
    M-090
Execute MRP     The purpose of this sub-process is to generate a Materials Requirements Plan (MRP) for all materials, which are produced or purchased. The MRP process involves looking at current material inventory, planned inbound material deliveries, requirements, lead times and stock levels to generate a detailed plan for future material requirements. The materials requirements will be generated with respect to the three planning horizons, short-term, medium-term, and long term. If an over stock of raw materials occurs as a result of a planning change production and marketing personnel will be informed. This would allow for the cancellations of any unneeded shipments.
    M-100
Perform Setup / Changeover     Perform set-up and changeover activities on production equipment as necessary, to prepare for the production of specific materials/grades. Set-up and changeover activities will enable the production equipment to perform operations on materials, as per the specifications called out on the production order. Ensure time is allocated for first off inspection requirements after changeover.
    M-110
Execute Production     Insure that the production plan is met by converting raw materials and component supplies into finished and semi-finished products. Batch/lot documentation will be created for individual production orders to provide traceability throughout the process. Each step of the production process is continuously monitored to identify mechanical, quality, and productivity issues and suggest solutions when problems arise. Data collection for performance and financial reporting enables management to take immediate action on manufacturing processes as well as conduct historical analysis.
    M-120
Perform Quality Management     Quality management refers to the entire supply chain process. Process activities are related to the evaluation and inspection of key characteristics of semi-finished and finished materials. These evaluations are recorded and acted on based on the results. Report/manage internal quality problems or issues. Install and manage quality control systems to insure product quality. For supplier or subcontractor based issues this data should be used as a performance measure during the vendor evaluation process.
    M-130
Manage Product Disposition     This process ensures those semi-finished and finished products that do not meet quality requirements, are prevented from being used and distributed in good finished product to customer, or released for the next step of the production process. A semi finished product is any material that needs to have another operation on line before being shipped to the customer. Finished goods are defined as any material that can be shipped to a customer; in house produced finished goods, subcontracted materials and trading goods. The information required to make decisions regarding disposition comes from the Quality Management system of each production facility. The first step ensures that raw material and returnable goods are dealt with in another subprocess. The reason for the goods not meeting quality standards is recorded along with the results of any investigation to find the cause of the fault. Information is sent to all other parties who need to know: order fulfillment, inventory management and shipping. The process ensures that the most appropriate action is taken to either dispose of, or rework the goods. Disposal or rework may be either through the original materials supplier or subcontractor, or Mittal Steel Point Lisas.
    M-140
Maintain Product Related Data     u201CMaterial Master Maintenanceu201D. The Sub-Process 'Maintain Product Related Data' is the list of activities that identify the steps and decision points related to the request for and performance of additions, changes, and deletions to the Material Master file or files. This sub-process begins when a need to create, change or delete a material is identified and ends when the request is either actioned or refused. The sub-process is intended to cover all material types, including finished goods, raw materials, bills of materials, equipment and service, POS, Sundry Items etc. In fact, any product which the company wishes to inventory or purchase. A number of key strategic decisions, including a clear definition of when we issue a new material, will affect this sub-process.
    M-150
Maintain Production Related Data     u201CMaster Data Maintenanceu201D. This subprocess identifies the activities related to requesting changes or additions to production related master data. Once a need for master data maintenance is identified, a request is submitted for approval. Data defining production capacities and performance standards (e.g. line efficiencies, material yields, etc.) require Corporate level approval prior to maintenance. Other data that is more specific to internal planning functions are maintained at the plant level. Maintenance requests are returned to the originator whether the request is approved or not to improve communication throughout the system. This subprocess may be triggered by: annual operations budgeting process process/production equipment upgrade or replacement change in facility work schedule (i.e. planned hours or days) change in personnel required to operate process/production equipment new products, formulations, or packaging.
    M-160
Operations Execution Reporting     Gather manufacturing information at various points in the production process. Prepare management reports both at the detailed level for plant management and summary level for senior operations management. Reports will be available on-demand and will include - volume, efficiencies (mechanical, line, and labor), yields, downtime, asset utilization, environmental, safety, quality, and financial data. A major goal of this sub-process is to define a consistent method of calculating operations metrics. Some plants will use line information systems and PCSs to collect information. Not all plants are equipped with these systems and the where they do exist, the level of sophistication varies.
    M-170
Manage Process Reliability     Optimize capacity by reducing process downtime and ensuring compliance to quality expectations by the reduction of rejects. Install tracking systems to measure line time utilization, quality results, process settings. Conduct root cause analysis, and use the data to develop and implement improved operating procedures.

Thank you for your prompt response. I'm assuming you are still proposing to use Sales order -> purchase order -> invoice verification -> Customer billing process flow. Is that correct?

  • Has anyone successfully implemented a drop shipping eCommerce solution with MULTIPLE suppliers?

    Hi there
I have read a few BC forum articles on this subject, but none seem to have clarified whether a drop shipping eCommerce solution with MULTIPLE suppliers can truly be implemented successfully in BC.
In particluar, my concern is with splitting up ONE online order with products from MULTIPLE suppliers ... and split up the order into its individual supplier components and thereby calculate freight costs for each of the suppliers i.e. the freight cost should really be calculated for each of the suppliers SEPERATELY and not for the order as a whole.
Forum post http://forums.adobe.com/message/4881302#4881302 addresses this issue and Liam Dilley [as always] kindly responded. But his response indicates this is not possible with BC.
If this is the case, drop shipping in BC is quite useless unless:
    1. you had only one supplier
    2. or, you somehow restricted each order placed to products from only one supplier - which I am unsure is even possible even with JQuery
Any feedback from the community would be most appreciated.
    Regards
    Gavin

    You have two requirements:
    1. Once ordered, split the order into suppliers, contact the supplier of the product, give the information of the order to the customer. Supplier ships it. This could be done manually but a pain in the ***. I would assume you want it automated.
    2. When ordering, multiple products require mutliple shipping rates. As the shipping from location could be different for each product you can't just use the ship from one location option.
    Solutions:
    1. This is the easier one, you record the supplier in the product via a form or in the product item itself. If you wanted to automate here you could via API, if you wanted to do it manually you also could.
    2. Shipping calulator, to make things easier you would have to do everything by weight. Use Javascript to remove the default shipping option on the checkout page, pass all the items in the shopping cart. Use a lookup table function in Javascript "item name to weight" then have another function item to (from) shipping location. Work out the shipping and display it and force change with Javascript BC's shipping price (so the customer pays the correct amount).
Like Liam says, it's not something BC does too well at the moment and the above solution is more of a workaround but does work.

  • Storage solutions for my G5

    Hi,
I'm desperetely seeking a cost effective solution for my G5.
I have a bunch of external HDs, but i'm exciting the possibility and cost effectiveness of an e-sata solution. I've been obsessing over the Fusion 4 and 5 bay gadgets from sonnet tech, but it's pricier than i'd like to spend. if it turns out to be the best solution out there, then i'll seriously consider it.
BUT, i heard someone mention using a PC case with a powerful power supply and then stacking it with HDs. I'm sort of technical, but i've never seen/heard of anything like this.
Does anyone know how I could make it work? Would i buy and install an e-sata card into my G5 and somehow connect the HDs from a PC case?
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers,
    Keebler

If you are just looking for an inexpensive SATA storage solution why not consider the Kingwin 3.5" SATA Aluminum External Hard Drive Enclosure. They are only $33 here:
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007SMQLG/arizomacinusergr
You can stack them and as the enclosure is as cheap as some drive trays you can hot swap them while still in the enclosure. Four units runs $130 which is
cheaper than any 4 bay solution I have seen.
The next step up is the Addonics Storage Tower. You can get it with four 5.25" bays and with 6 eSATA ports model ST6ESA for $150 here:
    http://www.addonics.com/products/raid_system/ast4.asp
It also has the ability to add hot swap bays or a port multiplier later if you wish to. With the Storage Tower you can build it any way you want it and change it later if you want to.
As far as a SATA card - since you have a PCI PowerMac, I would get a FirmTek 4 port eSATA card model SeriTek/1eVE4. It is the only unit that provides booting and eSATA connections. You can see the AMUG review here:
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/firmtek/1eve4/
This is an awesome 64-bit card that will get your drives running fast. I have one and love it.
The enclosure options above will look better and run better than using a PC case and they will not take up as much space. You might want to read some of the AMUG Storage Tower reviews for more ideas. They are located here:
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/addonics/tower/
    http://www.amug.org/amug-web/html/amug/reviews/articles/addonics/3sa/
    I hope this helps,

  • Role of Quality Management udring NPDI Stage for Automotive industry

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how the quality requirements for automotive industry, during NPD stage can be addressed by mySAP PLM-Quality Management?
    Best Regards
    Guruprasad

    Hello Isabelle,
Greetings! and thanks for the reply.
Can you please elaborate more on exit - QPL10001. I am not clear where the Inspection plan will be maintained and with what usage? How the inspection lot will get generated? is it need to trigger manually?
I will just explain the scenario in short- During <b>New Product development</b>, OEM can get the parts in 2 ways, one is from Supplier and another in-house production.
<b>In case of supplier parts</b> it comes as a sample part till finalisation of drawing and other aspects. At all stages during development, suppler part quality is throughly verified - dimenstionally, metallurgically, performace, endurance etc..
here am facing  2 main difficulties
    1.Too many number of characteristics.
2.How the results recorded can be identified, later when moved to regular production? since the parts will be inspected against inspetion type 01.
Similarly, <b>for MIW (made in works / in-house production)</b> material / part is manufactured without using actual machines initially and hence there is no rate-routing and no inspection characteristics assigned to material.
In the later stage on the process is finalised and rate routing is maintaied.
    Here am facing problem as,
    1. No rate routing and hence no inspection characteristics initially at NPD.
2.And even if I maintain the inspection characteristics in rate routing, Since Auto industry follows repetetive manufactuing scenario, the Production order type - PP01 etc is not of use.
am trying with manual generation of inspection lot for material version - using MFPR...asking client to maintain the inspection characteristics in rate routing to cater the requirement.
I will really be glad if u could slightly brief - on how/ where to maintain inspection plan and how will the inspection lot will get generated?
    Thanks a lot.
    take care

  • Displaying PO's on EP6 for our suppliers

We are currently using Enterprise Portal v. 6.0 and we want to display Purchase Orders & Scheduling Agreements for our suppliers on the EP6. We would need to identify if they are NEW PO's/SA's, or if it is an amendment (supplement) that has been done on an already existing PO/SA.
I would expect that this is an out-of-the-box functionality from SAP and I have found the "Business Package for Subcontracting" but it seems to be directed at the internal user, not the suppliers.
We are also interested in making the PO's available in XML format, if our suppliers want to electronically feed them into their own back end systems.
    Thanks for any input.
    Carolyn Wrong
    Pratt & Whitney Canada

    Hello Carolyn,
Supplier Self Service (SUS) is a SAP component that pushes PO and SA to the supplier.
This is a piece of the SAP Supplier Portal, for order collaboration.
This is part of SRM solution
Via this component, suppliers can process:
    - Purchase Orders
-- Download PO: You can download purchase orders in CSV format and XML format
-- Print PO: You can print purchase orders in CSV, XML, and PDF format
    - Shipping Notifications
    - Confirmations
    - Invoices & credit memos
    - Notifications from purchasers
    - Scheduling Agreement releases
    - Messages
    - own data
    - links to SRM bid invitations
There are some variants between SRM/SUS and MM/SUS scenario.
For direct supplier XML integration, PO can be sent to the supplier via XML for long in SAP solutions, from R/3 or SRM.
XI content is provided to generate XML file from SRM or R/3 calls.

  • Searching Dock with for Power supply and Audio Out for iPhone 3GS

    Hello,
I am rather new to Apple stuff but I now have an iPhone 3GS which I would like to use with my Yamaha Pianocraft.
The Yamaha has an optional iPod Dock. As far as I know, this would allow me to do things like pause, next track etc. via the Yamaha remote. However, I don't really need this and I would also like to be able to play audio from apps such as internet radio apps (e.g. 977)
So the Yamaha also has an AUX/Audio In connector on the back where I can simply connect my iPhone 3GS. Then I will just hear everything not through the iPhone speakers but through the Yamaha A/V Receiver.
However, this option would require me to have a cable connect at the top (headphone jacket) and at the bottom (connector for power supply), which does not look that good.
So I would like to have an iPhone 3GS dock that provides audio out as well as power supply. I have found three products for this (German Sites because I live in Germany):
    Apple iPhone 4 Dock:
    http://store.apple.com/de/product/MC596ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOQ&mco=MTgxNTkwOTg
    Apple Universal Dock:
    http://store.apple.com/de/product/MB125G/C?fnode=MTY1NDAzOQ&mco=MTA4NDc4NDA
    Amazon:
    http://www.amazon.de/Dockingstation-Apple-iPhone-Audio-Out-wei%C3%9F/dp/B003UP77 HQ/ref=wlit_dpo?ie=UTF8&coliid=I18C98SXGWLNIF&colid=29EKL14S3VRAN
As far as I am aware, the iPhone 4 Dock from Apple cannot be used with the iPhone 3GS. Is that correct? Is there any solution or an "iPhone 3GS Dock" available?
Can these docks also provide the audio from apps via audio out?
I hope you can help me.

Well on the backsite this product has audio out but not power, only the iphone connector.
If I want to use this station in one place only and not for syncing, I will have to buy another iPhone USB cable and another wall to USB adapter (altough I have come at home from other products).
Is there no dock that will not require some special iPhone cable?
