Improve support response time

Guy you randomly blocks accounts and the support response is horrible. I've been waiting for an answer for 13 hours!!!! I would not call this as a service.
Sorry but it is so frustrating, so would like to call, you already PAID for it and no service.

Hi,
If you get in touch with Microsoft Answer Desk you can have a live chat with a support assistant.

  • Improve the response time of logical database

    hi all,
to improve the response time( time to access data ) in logical database how can we achive this

...but the same code is having a good response time in production environment bu tis slow in development....sure...your server might be doing a lot of time consuming things when run in development mode (e.g to enable debugging, extra monitoring or tracing etc.)..Do you have equal machines on both environments? Heavy tracing to logfiles in development environment is one possible bottleneck...or e.g. the amount of memory the db server is allowed to use ( table joins in the memory vs. using temporary files)

  • How can I improve the response time of the user interface?

I'm after some tips on how to improve the response time to mouse clicks on a VI front panel.
I have  data acquistion application which used to run fine, but after spending a couple of weeks making a whole bunch of changes to it I find that the user interface has become a bit sluggish.
My main GUI VI has a while loop running 16 times a second, updating some waveform charts and polling about a dozen buttons on the front panel.
There is sometimes a delay (variable, but up to 2 seconds sometimes) from when I click on a button to when it becomes depressed. I have wired the iteration terminal of the while loop to an indicator on the front panel and can see that the while loop is ticking over during the delayed response to the mouse click, so I know that the problem is not that the whole program is running slow, just the response to mouse clicks.
Also, just for debugging purposes, I have indicators of the iterations of all the main while loops in my program on the front panel, so I can see that there are no loops running abnormally fast either.
One thing I've tried is to turn off multi-threading, and this does seem to work - the response to mouse clicks is much faster. However, it has the side effect of making the main GUI while loop run less evenly. I was trying to get a fairly smooth waveform scrolling across the screen, and when multi-threading is off it gets a bit jerky.
    Any other suggestion welcome..
    (I am using LabVIEW 7.1, Windows 2000).
    Regards,
    Mark.

    Hi Altenbach,
Thanks for your reply. In answer to your questions:
I am doing both DAQ board and serial data acquisition. I am using NIDAQ traditional for the DAQ board, and VISA for the serial. I have other similar versions of this program that do only DAQ board, or only serial, and these work fine. It was only when I combined them both into the same program that I ran into problems.
The multiple while loops are actually in separate VIs. I have one VI that acquires data from the DAQ card, another VI that acquires data from the serial port, another VI that processes the data and saves to file, and another VI, the GUI VI, that displays the data in graphs and charts.  The data is transferred betwen the VIs via LV2 globals.
The GUI VI is a bit more complicated than I first mentioned. It has tab control, with 4 waveform charts on one page, 4 waveform graphs on another page, and 3 waveform graphs on another page. The charts have a history length of 2560, and 16 data points are added 16 times a second. The wavefom graphs are only updated once per minute.
I don't use the value property at all, but I do use lots of property nodes for changing the properties of the graphs and charts e.g. changing plot colours, Y scale range etc. There is only one local variable (for the Tab control). All the graphs and charts have data wired directly to their terminals.
I haven't done any profiling yet.
I am building arrays in uninitialised shift registers, but this is all well under control. As the experiement goes on, more data is collected and stored, and so the memory usage does gradually increase, but only to the extent that I would expect.
The CPU usage is 100%, but I thought this was always the case when using NIDAQ  with DAQ cards. Or am I wrong about this? (As a side note, I am using NIDAQ traditional, but would NIDAQmx be better?)
Execution priority of the GUI vi (and all the other VIs for that matter) is set to normal.
The program is a bit large to post here, and I'm not sure if my company would be happy for me to publicise it anyway, so I suspect that this is turning into one of those questions that are going to be impossible to answer.
Just as a more general question, why would turning off multi-threading improve the user interface response?
    Thanks,
    Mark.

  • Average support response time with free support plan

Some time ago I noticed that I have 3 Adobe ID's.
    2 of them are correct
2 of them have products registered to them
1 that has a product registered to it is erroneous: has the wrong country in its registration details
I contacted support and was assisted promptly and accurately. I needed to provide a few more details that I had to take a moment to collect. The support agent opened up a support case where I could later place the missing information.
I informed the support agent that I would be away on holiday for a week. And immediately after I added the information that'd come in in the meantime.
This was 1st of may. All has been silent since then.
I tried to open up a chat to ask what the average response times are for free support plan subscribers, but I no longer get access to the chat... I guess I was probably just lucky the first time.
Anybody here know when (on average) I could expect an update to that support case?

Up to 2 weeks and given the current madness after the CS7/ CC announcment possibly longer.

  • Are Skype support response times too long for you?

    Just answer yes or no....
....and then tell me how long you waited.
    i.e. Yes 7 hours
I'm really interested in finding out how much I can rely on this forum for a quick response to problems as I use Skype to communicate with my customers, suppliers and colleagues worldwide.
The response time to critical questions like "because of a 'technical problem at Skype" I can't allocate credit to my coworkers so as they can call up their contacts phones" - (a.k.a I want to give Skype some money) is unreasonably long. I'm trying to guage how long I can expect to wait.
    Sonic

    Hello  sonic,
I see you are asking about response time on the forum for questions to be answered.
Well, it just depends on who is online at the time you post your question.  We have many professional users like TheUberOverlord and Primemover that are here all the time and answer qualified questions all day.  The Skype Enterprise Team are here 24/7 but are sometimes answering Chats from customers in the Live Chat Sessions of Skype Manager.
If you want an immediate response, you need to log into your Skype Manager and click on the Chat Button in the top right of that screen and you will be connected to us immediately.  We are here 24/7 for your support.  It is a Business Class Service and we talk to customers from all over the world day and night. We are here to get customers PBX's and SIP compatable devices connected to Skype Connect and can answer most any question on products and devices.
Thank You for using Skype and the Skype Community Forums.

  • How to improve server response time...

we have two solaris5.8 machines with 4G of Ram in each of the them. So they are pretty big. We have round-robine load balancing... any help will be appreciated!!
    Thanks

    Hi,
we are having problems with server response on Solaris although this is with
an Informix database and we do not have load balancing set up. Our server
has 3GB of RAM. However the same app ran fine on an NT iPlanet installation
where the server only had 512MB RAM.
This has occasioned a lot of hard work trying to pin down the problem. We
are currently investigating the JDKs. JDK 1.3 almost completely eliminates
the problem we had. Using the java profiler we noticed that in JDK 1.2.2
most of the CPU time seemed to be spent in the socket read and socket accept
methods. I've attached the profile output for JDK1.3 and 1.2.2, there is
    certainly a marked difference.
I would be really interested to see if you get similar results. I simply
    added -Xrunhprof:cpu=samples to the JAVA_ARGS in iasenv.ksh.

  • How to improve computer response time

I have the computer listed below, but would really like to have faster start both of the system and of the applications. I don´t use my computer for demanding tasks such as video editing, but I still want a quick response from the computer. I have a 7200 rpm drive and I´ve heard that a SSD isn´t going to give me much of an improvement and not worth the money(the only option on a MacBook Pro, I've heard). The amount of storage capacity isn´t a priority: I just wan´t a fast computer for simple everyday tasks and don´t like to wait for a slow hard drive to do it´s work.
In Mac Pro, a striped RAID 0 with 4 identical HDDs should give some improvement, or is this only the case when large files are accessed?
Also it ought to be an even more important thing one dealing with 4 cores and above.
Can one of you Mac Pro guys give me a hint of what would be a good idea?
I have some money to spend.

90% of the time there is no need to use stripped RAID or even mirrored.
There are other ways and I'd start with what you know, then experiment but 'striping' was designed for scratch performance and when storage was limited in size and the only way to get 200MB/sec was with 8 drives and $2k in equipment.
Do some reading on Barefeats for now.

The only time you would want to is working with 2GB files in CS3. Or video. But you really will be hard pressed to outgrow a 10K drive even with the 'pedal to the metal' those are designed to do a lot of work.
Use one drive for OS, one drive for media and library files, 3rd for scratch, 4th as internal backup. Outgrow that first. A Mac Pro is a lot of workstation afterall. And if/when quad-core chips come in more flavors, and more applications can exploit more than 2-4 cores like video and pro apps, you probably don't need 8-cores today. Heck, a dual-core 2.8GHz can handle most any consumer needs.

  • Creative Support Response time

I filled out the online fault description about a week ago outlining an issue with my Zen Micro. Having not heard anything, resubmitted earlier today. What's and expected level of support?
    My issue being:
When switching the unit on, all that shows up is the creative logo. It just hangs in this position. From here I am unable to turn it off or use the unit.
    Things I have tried:
    Ensure the battery is charged.
Swapped the battery with a know working battery. Still doesn't work.
Tried connecting the device to the pc, but is not recognised. A known working player does connect.
There aren't any unusual noises coming fromt the player.
I have tried accessing the Rescue Mode/Recovery Mode as detailed on the website support pages. Player won't power up.
    Any suggestions?
Also the box states that it has a Year Hardware Warranty. Does this include parts and labour or just parts? If just parts, what's the average cost for labour for this kind of issue, from which I gather is not that uncommon. Player was purchased in the UK.
    Many thanks,
    Ian

I could hear the disk spinning if I held it up against my ear.
The tech concluded that the disk was fried, and the only thing to do was to return the unit for service. Since the unit was less than 24 hours old, I simply took it back to the store for replacement.

  • Improving response time

Here is my current situation. I am running MARS application version 4.2.1 I have a test environment of 1 - 2821 Router with IPS module version 12.4T, 1 - 2621 Router with net flow running version 12.2, 1 - 2950 OS Switch and a stand alone MARS Server. When I run the scenario to test the response time (the time it takes MARS to notify me of the attack) it takes any where from 1/2 hour to and 1 hour before the alarm show up in the event Dash board is there a way to improve the response time? Secondly, I see the IPS signatures in the syslog but I do not see them on my MARS application when investigating an attack. If I run a query for real time I see everything but can't investigate the attack.

    David,
A few questions so we can help with your troubleshooting. Please forgive me for beginning with some MARS 101 questions.
    1. How long have you had this test environment set up? Netflow usually needs a few days to baseline your network, even in a test lab.
    2. What sort of scenario are you using to test the response time?
    3. Do these bugs apply to your situration?
    Take a look at:
    CSCsc50636, CSCsc50652
Issues: Backend IPS process runs at 99% CPU when pulling large IP Logs
The backend IPS process reaches 1GB in memory used when pulling IP Logs. The process names depending on the version on MARS that is running:
In version 4.2.1 and earlier, the process names are pnids50_srv and pnids40_srv.
Go to the command line on the Mars box and do a sysstatus to see what system resources a process on your Mars device is using.
Hope this helps. Let us know more details when you have the chance.

  • How to avoid long user interface response time in long measurements ?

    Hi
I tried to find more information regarding techniques how to avoid long user interface response times in case of extremely long measurement times with an external instrument communicating over GPIB, so I post this hoping to get some hint or a link to a guideline. I guess this is quite normal problem.
Problem is that when I want to measure long time in order to get an average result from the instrument, I have to wait until the result is returned from the instrument. Obviously that makes the user interface response very slow in traditional technique.
My restriction is the old GPIB 488 instrument driver that I would not want to modify, but I have source code to it.
What would be the best way to improve the response time for user interface ? I have looked into the few things:
    * multithreading
    * callback in main program for GPIB events
    * modifying instrument driver e.g. to support VISA and creating a VISA callback
    regards,
    Petri

    Several ways to do this:
If you're getting several measurements, you could have the instrument generate an asynchronous interrupt (an "SRQ" in GPIB terms), then collect the data in response to the SRQ callback.  While you're waiting for the SRQ's, you can have your main thread running the interface so responsive GUI.  You don't have to spinlock on the GPIB read waiting for instrument data.
Or, as you mentioned, you could spawn a thread to manage the measurements, and use a timer in the main thread to periodically allow you to check the status of the measurement thread.  Again, the main thread mostly just runs the user interface.
Either way, the idea is to keep the main thread freed up most of the time to run the GUI, and have it periodically check for completion of your measurement sequence.  While you're waiting in the main thread, you may want to make sure the user can't inadvertently re-trigger another measurement sequence until the active one is complete.
If you do find yourself doing a dead wait, you'd want to break this up into a series of shorter waits, and in between each wait, do a ProcessSystemEvents from the main thread to keep the GUI active.

  • Spatial Query Response Time

    O/S - Sun Solaris
    ver - Oracle 8.1.7
I am trying to improve the response time of the following query. Both tables contain polygons.
    select a.data_id, a.GEOLOC from information_data a, shape_data b where a.info_id = 2 and b.shape_id = 271 and sdo_filter(a.GEOLOC,b.GEOLOC,'querytype=window')='TRUE'
The response time with info_id not indexed is 9 seconds. When I index info_id, I get the following error. Why is indexing info_id causing a spatial index error ? Also, other than manipulating the tiling level, is there anything else that could improve the response time ?
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29902: error in executing ODCIIndexStart() routine
ORA-13208: internal error while evaluating [window SRID does not match layer
    SRID] operator
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD", line 84
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    Thanks,
    Ravi.

    Hello Ravi,
Both layers should have SDO_SRID values set in order for the index to work properly.
After you do that you might want to add an Oracle hint to the query:
    select /*+ ordered */ a.data_id, a.GEOLOC
    from shape_data b, information_data a
    where a.info_id = 2 and b.shape_id = 271
    and sdo_filter(a.GEOLOC,b.GEOLOC,'querytype=window')='TRUE' ;
    Hope this helps,
    Dan
Also, if only one or very few rows have a.info_id=2 then the function sdo_geom.relate
    might also work quickly.

  • Significant difference in response times for same query running on Windows client vs database server

I have a query which is taking a long time to return the results using the Oracle client.
When I run this query on our database server (Unix/Solaris) it completes in 80 seconds.
When I run the same query on a Windows client it completes in 47 minutes.
Ideally I would like to get a response time equivalent on the Windows client to what I get when running this on the database server.
In both cases the query plans are the same.
The query and plan is shown below :
    {code}
    SQL> explain plan
      2  set statement_id = 'SLOW'
      3  for
      4  SELECT DISTINCT /*+ FIRST_ROWS(503) */ objecttype.id_object
      5  FROM documents objecttype WHERE objecttype.id_type_definition = 'duotA9'
      6  ;
    Explained.
    SQL> select * from table(dbms_xplan.display('PLAN_TABLE','SLOW','TYPICAL'));
    PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT
    | Id  | Operation          | Name      | Rows  | Bytes |TempSpc| Cost (%CPU)|
    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT   |           |  2852K|    46M|       | 69851   (1)|
    |   1 |  HASH UNIQUE       |           |  2852K|    46M|   153M| 69851   (1)|
    |*  2 |   TABLE ACCESS FULL| DOCUMENTS |  2852K|    46M|       | 54063   (1)|
    {code}
Are there are configuration changes that can be done on the Oracle client or database to improve the response times for the query when it is running from the client?
The version on the database server is 10.2.0.1.0
The version of the oracle client is also 10.2.0.1.0
I am happy to provide any further information if required.
    Thank you in advance.

I have a query which is taking a long time to return the results using the Oracle client.
When I run this query on our database server (Unix/Solaris) it completes in 80 seconds.
When I run the same query on a Windows client it completes in 47 minutes.
There are NO queries that 'run' on a client. Queries ALWAYS run within the database server.
A client can choose when to FETCH query results. In sql developer (or toad) I can choose to get 10 rows at a time. Until I choose to get the next set of 10 rows NO rows will be returned from the server to the client; That query might NEVER complete.
You may get the same results depending on the client you are using. Post your question in a forum for whatever client you are using.

  • Slow response time HTTP= XI= RFC

I have a HTTP call to XI BPM which makes a sync RFC call to another SAP system via SA bridge. The BPM is working fine. However, the time taken to process a transaction is about 6 seconds (not much data – about 2 lines).
The party initiating HTTP call is not satisfied with this response time.
Their current system (C program to SAP via API/RFCs) take about a second to respond.
Here’s how my response time is distributed based on the WF analysis of the steps
    InfoLink_To_SAP_BPM urn:abc.com:InfoLink  Workflow started            4s
Start Message: Receive XML from InfoLink
    Initialize System Element

S/A Bridge: Response to Synchronous Request   1s
It seems like the first step takes 4 sec.  Does it take this long for HTTP connect? Or is this to launch or initialize WF / BPM?
In SAP, the RFC look .0027 secs to complete.
Does anyone have any idea on how to improve my response time.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
In a BPM with sych-asych bridge we did observe a 3 -4 sec processing time, its just initialization time on the workflow.
when we approached SAP Workflow team, we were told that was the optimal time. Unless something has changed in the new SP packs!!

  • ImprovingSync messge response time?

    Hi all,
I have a sync scenario (RFC to JDBC) wherein the response time for the round about call is around 1.3 seconds... The JDBCsystem takes about 0.1 second to respond... so the Xi is taking the remain 1.3 seconds...
Is the the best that can be expected? Is there something that can be done to improve the response time?
I am on Xi 3.0 SP20 and the mapping just one to one..no additional functions and about 15 fields in all..
I have already switched the trace level to 0 and logging is also at zero..

your response time does look fine
now about improving the response time, there are a number of factors like available server resources at the point of time message execution, your server sizing, network connection etc

  • Discoverer Performance/ Response Time

    Hi everyone,
I have a few questions regarding the response time for discoverer.
I have Table A with 120 columns. I need to generate a report based on 12 columns from this table A.
The questions are whether the factors bellow contribute to the response time of discoverer.
    1. The number of items included in the business area folder (i.e. whether to include 120 cols or just 12 cols)
    2. The actual size of the physical table (120 cols) although I only selected 12 cols. If the actual size of the physical table is only 12 cols, would it improve the performance?
    3. Will more parameters increase the processing time?
    4. Does Joins increase the processing time?
    5. Will using Custom Folder and writing an sql statement to select the 12 columns increase the performance?
Really appreciate anyone's help on this.
    Cheers,
    Angeline

    Hi,
NP and Rod, thanks a lot for your replies!
Actually I was experiencing a different thing that contradicts your replies.
    1. When I reduced the no of items included in my Biz Area from 120 to 12 the response time improve significantly from around 5 minutes to 2-3 minutes.
    2. When I tried to create a dummy table with just 12 cols needed for the report, I could get a very fast response time, i.e. 1 second to generate the report. But of course the dummy table contains much less data (only around 500 K records). Btw, is Discoverer able to handle large database? What is the biggest record size can it handle?
    3. When I add more parameters it seems to add more processing time to the discoverer.
    4. Thanks for the clarification on this one.
    5. And the funny thing is, when I use custom folder to just select the 12 columns, the performance also significantly improves with estimated query time reduced from 2 minutes plus to just 1 mins 30 secs. But still the performance time is inconsistent. Sometimes it only takes around 1 mins 40 secs, but sometimes it can run up to 3 mintues for the same data.
Now I am creating my report using the custom folder cause it has the best response time so far for me. But based on your replies it's not really encouraged to use the custom folder?
I need to improve the response time for the Discoverer Viewer as the response time is very slow and users don't really like it.
Would appreciate anyone's help in solving this issue :) Thanks..
    Cheers,
    Angeline
