In and Out Marks

Hi,
This certainly a day for questions.
If I want to remove a clip, I often don't highlight it, but instead mark and 'in & out', and then ripple delete.
I've noticed that the 'in' will always be on the frame I wanted but the 'out' is always the next clip's first frame. I have to always adjust the 'out' by one frame to ensure I don't clip my picture etc.
Any thoughts? Is there a setting I'm not aware of, or is this just a FCP nuance.
M

If you want to get rid of a clip, simply right click on it and select ripple delete.
No In/Out required.

  • Razor at In and Out marks together

    Hi,
Is there a shortcut/cmd to razor both in and out markers together (in one operation)?
I have a few frames of a clip that I'd like to pull the volume levels down on. I've added the In and Out markers as I would do to extract, but I want to leave the subsequent clip intact.  Is there a faster (better) way to achieve this than just using the razor tool to manually click on both In and Out marks?
    Thanks
    John

    Hi Kevin,
Thanks for that.  I guess in that case I can just use Lift and then paste the clip back in.
For anyone else reading you need to hit Shift+I to move the Playhead back to the in point (if it's not already) before using the Lift command, so that the clip is pasted back in the right place...I've just discovered.
    Thanks again Kevin.

  • Why am I not able to mark "in" and "out" points in Final Cut Pro 6?

I have a bunch of old tapes that I am trying to put on my computer.  I have Final Cut Pro 6 and everything hooks up nicely except I am not able to mark in and out points or use capture now.  Does anyone out there know why that would be the case?
I appreciate any help I can get.

What VTR? How is it controlled?
What are your capture settings? Firewire Protocol?

  • How can I use a ranged comment marker to quickly define in and out range?

    Hi,
I'm using several parts of a single clip, and they have overlapping in and out points. As I'll need to go back and grab them multiple times, I've defined these ranges by using a comment marker, then giving them a range by setting the in and out point in the marker panel.
What I want to do is using this defined comment marker range, right click/double click/clap twice or something that will allow a shortcut to set this marker range as an in and out range so that I can put it into my sequence's timeline.
I'm happy if I can skip the in and out all together and drag the marker to the timeline - but I tried this from the Marker panel, and it didn't work.
If this functionality doesn't exist, I'm going to have to just set a marker for every in and out point, and that's just busywork and confusing as it's not clear what's the in and the out when your'e in the middle of all the markers.
Thanks for any and all help

Premiere does not have a feature that automatically converts a marker's In/Out to function as clip In/Out points. I recommend saving a subclip for each segment of interest. The subclip becomes a new instance of the clip in the project panel, which you can give a descriptive name.
If you give this a try--and if you're using Premiere Pro CC--take a little time to learn about the "Restrict Trims to Subclip Boundaries" option, which controls whether a subclip is "hard" or "soft." http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cc/create-soft-subclips-with-flexible-edit-po ints/

  • Mark in and out point on non-primary storyline

Ok - I must be missing something... How do I mark and in and out point in a non-primary storyline?
Say, I want to replace part of a non-primary storyline with gap... The only way I've seen to do that would be to blade the clip in the non-primary storyline into three parts and 'delete' the middle bit out, which is what marking an 'in' and 'out' and pressing 'delete' is the accelerated way of doing it in the primary storyline.

    Yes I know.
The thing with markers (M) is that these are always placed on the primary storyline, except if you selected a clip in the non-primary storyline. So I don't know why you must first select the Range Selection tool to make in's and out's. Why don't it works just as the markers do.

  • How to mark In and out sequence, then export

    Hi,
I have probably missed something, but I don't know what.
When I want to export only a segment of my sequence, I do a "In" and a "Out" mark in the sequence, then export media, and... I loose the "in" and "out" and I have to select again before export or queuing. What is wrong ??
    Thanks you for your answers
    Olivier

Use the "Work Area" to define the segment for export, not in & out marks.

  • Resetting Mark In and Out

For those who have already marked in and out their master clips and wish to reset them back to their original way you can do this by:
    1) On the browser, select the clip/s you wish to reset back to their original default mark in/out.
    2) Locate the sort tabs that says In and Out. It's located where the Name, Duration, Media Start, Media End is. Right click inside the In column (ie 00:00:00:00) and a small menu will appear. Select Clear In. This will reset the Mark In. You can select multiple master clips and remove all the Mark In's at once.
    3) You can also remove the Mark Out's on the Out column using the same step. In this case it will be Clear Out.

    Yes I know.
The thing with markers (M) is that these are always placed on the primary storyline, except if you selected a clip in the non-primary storyline. So I don't know why you must first select the Range Selection tool to make in's and out's. Why don't it works just as the markers do.

  • Marking in and out only selects audio.  I need both

I'm sure this is very fundamental but I can't figure it out.
I've been editing a lot of home movies this weekend when suddenly my IN and OUT buttons are behaving differently in the time line. They are only selecting (affecting) the two audio tracks and not affecting the video track. Why?

Make sure the VIDEO tab is connected in the Timeline patchbay for the track where you want the video to go.

  • Subclips won't respond to JKL, marking ins and outs also difficult

I only seem to be having this problem with subclips.  Normal clips or merged clips behaving normally.  In subclips, JKL not resonding well, have to use space bar to play rather than L.  Can only set in and out points after a few tries.  It's acting very buggy.
Anyone else experiencing this on CC 2014 or have a solution please ?
    Thanks !
    Ely

If these are subclips from merged clips, then this is a known issue. See this thread for some suggested workarounds: Re: help with in and out points not synced to footage correct

  • 5.04HDV capture-no way to listen to audio to mark in and out?

First time capturing HDV footage and don't get audio on desktop speakers. Audio direct to monitor from deck is way out of sync with picture in capture screen. Not like DV settings that allow you to click on audio to hear in capture mode. Have been through all the setups I can find of without results. Capturing in Firewire. Meters in capture show audio is there and playback of captured material is ok but batch dig. is a horror this way. Dif. setup somewhere? ED.

  • No mark in and out points at batch capturing

I have created logged clips to my browser window but, noticed that the IN and OUT points say NOT SET.
    Is this normal?
As I create the logged clips for batch capture shouldnt I see the IN and OUT times?

That's normal. When you set In and Out in the Log & Capture window, those points become Media Start and Media End in the Browser. And In and Out are left as Not Set.
The rationale is that once you've captured, you'll review your clips and place In and Out points more precisely. In case you do want to stick with Media Start and Media End as your In and Out, simply load the clip into the viewer and press X on your keyboard - that will set your In and Out (at Media Start & End) for your clip.
Now - you know there had to be one caveat - the only time this is not the case is when you check the box to Add Handles in the Batch Capture dialog. In that case, when FCP captures the clips, it extends the Media Start and Media End by the handle amount and uses the In and Out that you specified during logging as the In & Out for that clip in the Browser.

  • Logging in and out of your email

Is there a way to logging in and out of your email? I'm not to thrilled with my email being open all the time.

    Not easily.
Remember, RIM and the BlackBerry were made famous for their "always on push" email technology.
You will need to either turn off the data signal on your device (see Manage Connections > Mobile Network) or disable the account in your BIS login, where you setup the email account.
    Or, ignore the incoming email.

  • My IPOD classic headport is not working properly.  The sound is going in and out?

My ipod classic headport is not working properly.  The sound keeps going in and out.  I have tried changing headphones and checking the settings.  Does anyone have any ideas?

    Do a Hard Reset
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
If the sound is still the same, but ok, coming from the bottom Dock connector, then try cleaning the headport, using a jet of air or some electronic cleaner.

  • Issues with Global Address Book and Out of Office saying Exchange is Offline.

So we have an Exchange 2010 server that has been running fine for quite a few years. We recently changed our firewall to an ASA 5510 and created all the firewall rules necessary to have email work through it. Everything works fine so naturally we thought
    everything was good to go.
Then I started getting messages that the Out of Office wasn't working an that when users where trying to set their away message they would get a message from outlook that the exchange server was unavailable, yet when I
check the outlook client it would say Connected to Microsoft Exchange at the bottom. I thought this was crazy so I started looking further into it and it turns out that the name for the server owa.xxxxxx.net points to a public address, which of course lives
on the outside interface to the ASA. In ASA world it doesn't like private space (ie. 192.168.x.x) talking to the outside interface and drops the packets, where our old firewall did not. So as a short term fix I had the users using OWA site with a internal
address to set their out of office message. This worked fine until today when I rebooted the email server and started getting support calls saying that when users where selecting the To: button in a new email that once again they were getting messages saying
that they were not connected to exchange, yet they once again outlook said they were. I then started playing with the host name owa.xxxxxx.net again. This time I changed the hosts file on a box and pointed the internal IP of the exchange server to that
host name. Restarted the outlook client and things started to work as they should. I have played with split DNS to see if this would help so I wouldn't have to do this with every client in the network, and it was promising until I realized that we many hosts
that use this domain and an external DNS server that takes care of these requests that now the internal users will never reach. Funny part is that if we take one of our laptops out side the network everything works fine as well.
So I'm guessing that some of the processes that connect Outlook to Exchange use the FQDN of the server or IP address, and that other things such as the Global Address Book and Out of Office use the External Host Name.
Any help to point these request at the Internal FQDN/IP would be great, or if someone can think of another way of dealing with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Titan,
correct me if i have missed something but are users able to look up contacts in GAL?
If you update (ex mobile number for a user) then run the following commands(one for each line):
       Get-GlobalAddressList | update-GlobalAddressList
       Get-AddressList | update-AddressList
    Get-OfflineAddressBook | Update-OfflineAddressBook
Restart Your Outlook  in 5 min, then do a manual OAB download. Is info on that user updated?
    Does GAL from frm OWA?
if im not wrong,Status and Out of Office use EWS for status update.
    Please run the following command:
Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity “mailserver01\EWS (Default Web Site)” |fl *internalUrl*
where mailserver01 is the server that is having the issue.
Then please check if internal URL is correct for that server (and those that are having issues.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you. Thank you! Off2work
