Help please I have question marks on all my pics.. This won't allow me to edit them.. There on all 1000 of my pics.....helP

It's important to find what you did wrong to avoid the same problem to appear again.
The catalog still stores the location of the files as they were before something outside of the organizer changed the real location of files, or renamed them or deleted them.
You can find that recorded location in the information panel of the organizer, and the real one using your OS : explorer or finder.

Reconnecting missing files?

I have a new computer with Windows7 and PSE9. Because of the difficulty I had on my old PC with trying to reconnect missing files, I decided to start afresh on my new PC. So, I put all my images from Windows Explorer onto an External Hard Disk and brought them into the Organiser on my new PC from there. So far so good; not a single ? mark in sight. However, I was soon to be disillusioned because today, having assembled all my images into Albums, I was putting tags on them in one Album when, suddenly, yellow ?marks appeared on all the images in that Album. But, as I scrolled down the Album, by click and drag on the vertical slider, the ?marks disappeared line by line only to reappear as soon as I lifted my finger off the mouse. I most certainly had not moved or touched the images outside PSE because I went straight to the Organiser on booting up and never left it until coming to this Forum.
Looking back at previous posts on the forum I see the problem reappearing with monotonous regularity since 2005, with nobody seemingly to find a satisfactory answer. One really would have thought that Adobe could have found an answer by now!!
I wonder whether anybody has found an answer other than the painful use of the Reconnect command?

Yellow question mark on top left of an image indicates that: that particular image is missing. The thumbnails you see in Organizer are just the 'shortcut' to the image. These are not your real images.
As you know whenever you move/rename a file, corresponding shortcut gets broken. Organizer does the same. Whenever you move/rename (or both) media outside Organizer (from OS), then Organizer losses the track of that media. Consequently it will show a yellow question mark on top left corner of image.
Your case is somewhat different from that mentioned above and the root to this problem lies with the handling of external hard drive (hdd) by windows OS. When you plugin a external hdd, Win OS recognizes it as an internal hard drive. As your media is on hdd so when you un-plug the hdd, the media (which was present on hdd) gets missing in EO (elements organizer). If you images were on a removable drive (flash drive)/CD/DVD/Network locations, and if you unplug the source then your images will get offline (a red color badge will appear on your images).
Now i will suggest the following steps-
1. Plug-in your hdd.
2. In EO select all images and click 'File->move'. Here give the location where you want to move (delete from hdd and copy it on system's internal hard drive).
In case you don't have enough space on your hdd, then you need to plugin your device whenever you want to do some editing.

How to reconnect missing file from iCloud on PSE 12?

I placed all my photos in the iCloud and also copied them to a flash drive and removed them from the hard drive. Now Organizer asks to reconnect missing files. The drop down menu in Browse does not list the Cloud as an option. How do i reconnect from the Cloud?

I am using a MacBook Pro with Yosemite

You will need to keep the flash drive connected. PSE will contain links to it and the images.
Otherwise you would need to copy the files to a folder in Pictures on your internal drive or an external hard drive.

Does PSA3 SE have Catalog Recover and Reconnect Missing Files

I was looking at this thread over on the PS Elements forum where the submitter seems to have some problems where he thinks that some photo files did not transfer from PSA3 SE to PSE 5.

I suggest that you also look at this thread. I don't have PSA3 SE to know what functions it does or does not have. If PSA3 SE does have Catalog Recover and Reconnect Missing Files, can he go back to his PSA3 SE Catalog now and do the Reconnect Missing Files and Catalog Recover, then retry the catalog upgrade again in PSE5?

Automatic reconnect missing files doesn't work after moving to new pc

In edit-->preferences-->files there is a check box to automatically search for and reconnect missing files. I have checked it and it doesn't appear to do anything. Using File-->reconnect all missing files it seems to find them OK, but you need to click 'reconnect' for every file! I have just moved my pics to a new pc so the path is different. I tried editing the 'My Catalogue.psa" file in Access, search and replace the path, and even that didn't work! 1000s of pics! HELP!!!

Attempted to uninstall Quicktime. The uninstall will not finish, saying it encountered a fatal error. Quicktime will not run, either.
when a QuickTime uninstall throws that message at folks, it's usually best to try completely scraping the itunes and QuickTime program files and installation configuration information from the PC, and doing a careful staged reinstall afterwards.
try the technique in the following post. (it includes instructions on what to do if Add/Remove isn't letting you uninstall one of the programs.)

I have tried the new version of the 'reconnect missing files' in PSE11 and I find it has been much improved.

PSE11 reconnect missing files in the Organizer

I have just tried the new 'Reconnect missing files' dialog:
- simpler and more intuitive interface
- easy to state where to start search and very quick :
Reconnecting 5000 files moved 'somewhere' on another (known) drive was done in a few minutes.
Major progress in my opinion.

I know i can do that... the point is i do not want to spend 5 more hours rebuilding the project.
What you are suggesting is just that... starting over.
I would like to correct the problem in the "Slideshow Editor".

PSE 4 reconnect missing files

PSE 4 - I turned on my computer yesterday (Pentium 4, windows XP, 189 gb). and most of my 2500 photos were flagged as missing files. I was able to reconnect some of them, but often they were mismatched in the reconnect window with another photo that had the wrong label on it. This happened at the same time I had an error code c0000005 Address lf8dld4. I still have 165 gb memory left. What went wrong and how do I fix it? I tried to resolve the error code by using the recommendations given in a different forum, but could not locate the path or any of the files recommended in the fix.

PSE 6 - Reconnect Missing Files... None there!

When I click on Reconnect All Missing Files, after a few moments the "Searching for missing file" box shows up and I click on Browse. In the next box that appears, there's supposed to be a list of all of the missing files but my problem is that there are NO file listed..... ?
Any way to recover from this? I have over 10K photos tagged in my album.

Some thoughts:
1. When the "Searching for missing file" shows up, it usually provides the filename it is searching for. If there's a filename, what is it? Use the Find > By Filename to find all photos with that filename and then double-check that the files really aren't missing by viewing them in full-screen mode (F11).
2. Do a File > Catalog > Repair and select repair anyway if no errors are reported.
3. When you reinstalled your hard drive, did you restore it fully or partially using a disk-cloning utility, like Ghost?

How do I reconnect missing files in the Slideshow Editor?

I created a slideshow and set up everything (pan/zoom, size, etc) and it worked fine.
I saved the project before closing it and had created an output video at 800x600. For some reason I could not create the 1024x768 video.
After shutting down for the night I tried to reopen it again and see if the 1024x768 would work. We will be showing this video on a 12 foot screen of this 1024x768 dimension pixel size… so I like to save it at that dimension.
When I opened the “Slideshow Editor” many of the pictures were missing. I was able to reconnect the pictures in the “Organizer” but they are still missing in the “Slideshow Editor”. It appears that the pictures that are missing are all from one windows folder. Another folder contents are fine.
FYI:
For some reason the pictures had shown up as linked to my external drive… where I have my backup files.
I did get them all linked (reconnected) in the Organizer to my C drive but they still do not show up in the “Slideshow Editor”. I did change (in windows) the file location of these files to get the project better reorganized. That probably kicked off the disconnect in the first place.
Is there some way to get all of these pictures in the “Slideshow Editor” reconnected? It is going to take about 5 hours of work to redo this project if I can not reconnect to these files. Since it was so easy in the Organizer it seems like there should be a way to do this in the “Slideshow Editor”.
I am using “Windows XP” and “Photoshop Elements 8”.

I am using PSE 8 with windows 7. I opened my catalog and have about 2000 photos that need to be reconnected. I can see them in a folder called C:\mom\pictures\adobe\photoshop-com\20140918. I tried to reconnect them, but they are not found so I selected browse and pointed photoshop to the folder in which they exist (found via a windows search) and photoshop says it is an unsupported file type (it said JPEG on the properties) . I can't open them with photoviewer either. They are photos from 2005-2007.

You are not getting any answers because it is unclear what the problem is. Let's take it one step at a time:
You imported the images from you camera. Did that appear to work OK?

Help needed to locate missing files

I'm still a Mac newbie so i'm really having trouble here.
The capacity of my Mac is 27.94GB and i'm only left with with 749.8MB. The problem is i dunno where the used 27.2GB of stuff are????
I've checked all the files like Applications, Library, users... each of them have barely over 1GB. So i'm really puzzled where the other GB are???? Where else can they be? I've cleared my Trashbin but that didn't help.
Can anyone help?? I'm desperate...i'm running out of space!!

From the Finder (click on the icon with the face in the dock), do a find. File->Find ...
Use the drop down lists to select Size -> Greater Than -> xxx Mb
Stick in a number say 100 Mb in the right hand box. Then do the find.
It should list the large files on your system. This may or may not help. If the files are hidden/private OS ones they won't get listed.
Another thing to try is an application called Onyx (or something similar).
It helps clean up files on your system that might not be needed anymore - e.g. cache files, log files etc.. It would be worth running all the options on the 'Automate' tab/screen.

Need to get missing file for Text Mining sample

I downloaded "Sample Code Demonstrating Oracle 10.2 supporting Text Mining (17MB)" (Oracle_MEDLINE_Text_Mining_Demo_v_2_2.zip) and managed to make it work with 11g database and apatch on linux. However, I get follow error
"Cannot open /var/www/htdocs/applet/my_KMEANS_cluster.html"
"Cannot open /var/www/htdocs/applet/my_KMEANS_cluster_data.txt"
File ../htdocs/applet/launch_KMEANS_stretchviewer.html needs above two files and I can not find it inside the downloaded zip file.
Can someone tell me where to get "my_KMEANS_cluster.html" and "my_KMEANS_cluster_data.txt" ?

Files Already Exist when Reconnecting Presumably Missing Files

I am struggling to clean-up several hundred files in my PSE organizer database.
Whenever I run the reconnect all command (or any other command that requires reconnecting first), PSE locates a large group of presumably missing files. PSE's "Reconnect Missing Files" dialogue shows me the former location of the files. I browse to that location and find the files still there. I then select the file and press reconnect. Unfortunately, I then get an error that says "The file already exists in the catalog." This clears the missing file problem for the moment. However, when I run another missing file check, it will again find these same files. I have attempted to reconnect them several times but PSE continues to tell me that they need to be reconnected but still knows where the files are.
I have already run a database repair (no errors were found).
I also ran a database optimization without issue.
Some system information:
Win7 Home Premium Service Pack 1
Dell XPS i7 Computer
6gb RAM. >350gb of free hard disk space
PSE 12....but also had the same problem on PSE 11. I upgraded hoping that the problem would be solved. It wasn't.

I solved my own problem...although I do not know what caused it nor why Adobe's program didn't fix it for me.
The "missing" entries that were being highlighted were all duplicate entries. Adobe won't allow for a duplicate entry to the same physical file. I deleted all the offending entries and this cleared my problem. I hope this solution helps others.
