In imovie '08 there is a white box behind my video and it wont view in the whole screen anymore. Only in a project 'im trying to make.

In imovie '08 in the viewing screen there is a white box behind my video instead of it showing in the whole screen like it used to. Even when i try to play the movie in full screen that white box is still behind the movie. I dont know what setting I changed or why now all of a sudden this box appears. Please help if you know how to change it back. Thank you.

Create a New Profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

White box behind transparent images with drop shadow in InDesign CC 2014 (v.10) but not in InDesign CC (v.9)

Hi all,
Please can you help? No matter what settings I use in my print options in InDesign CC 2014 (v.10), ALL transparent images with a drop shadow are printing with a white box behind the image. If I remove the drop shadow, all prints fine. I know this is an old issue that happens with ID sometimes but I have been lucky enough to never have had it happen to me before! (All images are regular flattened TIFF images with clipping paths).
Also, feathered edges are not printing correctly and are sharp instead of feathered.
When I export the document to IDML and open it up in InDesign CC (v.9) all prints perfectly with no white boxes and feathered edges prints perfectly as well. I have compared all of the print settings (including color management, transparency flattener, etc.) between both versions and they are exactly the same. I am printing to a Xerox color laser printer. Can anyone offer any advice?

Okay...false alarm! It turns out that the issue was with my PRINTER settings (the settings you customize after hitting the “Printer” button at the bottom of the Print dialogue box in ID CC. I thought I had triple checked this but it seems there was one setting I missed earlier…adjusting the print brightness seemed to cause the issue. SO GLAD to know it was not InDesign…20 or so sheets/prints later….and thankful to know what was causing the issue! Thank you so much Steve for helping at any rate:) Much appreciated:)

Strange white boxes behind text. Help!

I am in the middle of working on a very important document. In one section, an autobiographical section, I added sidbars. The background of text box is grey. Everything looked great, including when I printed last. Today when I was working on the document, I noticed that the headings (in the text box sidebars) have white behind the text. I tried troubleshooting:
I thought maybe there was a font trouble? tried changing fonts.
I thought maybe it was text box fill problem? changed colors of font and text box fill... No go.
Please ignore the terrible black boxes. I chose to black-out any personal data. The problem is the strange white boxes behind the headings (in the sidebar). Any ideas?

CS5: I often get white box behind logos when importing

This has happened a few times now. I import a logo from CS5 and place over a color background and get a white box. I end up copying the logo from AI and pasting directly into ID. Not an ideal workflow. In the attached, the left image is the Walgreens logo imported into ID and placed over a light tan field. The image on the right is the logo in AI. I put a black background and you can see there is no white box. This is happening whether I import into CS4 or 5. The logo is CS5 AI.

Looks like InDesign is trying to create the transparency, rather than using what Illustrator has defined in the postscript.
Select the placed .ai file, InDesign >> Object >> Clipping Path >> Options >> (Make sure type is set to none, detect edges would cause this)

The normal way to zoom in and out would be to use the thumbnail slider. I am not aware of any keyboard shortcut for this.

Interestingly, in Final Cut Pro, there is a keyboard shortcut for zooming the timeline. For example, Shift-Z will scale the project to fit the timeline, and command+ and command- will zoom.

I tried connecting to iTunes but it wasn't detecting the phone and I can't do anything with it now... When it turned completely black, I charged it and after a while, the low batt screen came on but it was fuzzy and flickering with the white ring... What to do know ???????

Restart your computer while holding down left mouse key. That will eject the CD and your Mac will start as normal.

I don't know if you've already resolved your problem, but I had the same thing, it took me 6 hours to fix it. I had the exact same as you, installed the update and then it went to a white screen. After trying start up holding down cmmd r or holding down the alt key to try to install it again, nothing worked, same result every time. Then an angel came to me here somewhere but I can't find it now to thank him. Start in safe mode, press shift once you hear the start up chime and hold it down until you hear it again. Installation completion box came up and it was working. turn off computer and start up again normally and all is well. Except my final cut pro x doesn't work with it, have to update that now too. same as when I updated to mavericks.

Everything Rick has said is like an echo to what is happening to me.
I have tried re-installing iTunes, and restarting the Bonjour service, sadly there is no change.
earlier before i updated iTunes it recognised my iPod but said that I had to update iTunes in order for it to work.
So i updated iTunes but now it's not even showing the device anywhere.

Open/Save Dialoge Box covers the whole screen - CS3/Vista

I´m using Photoshop CS3 on Windows Vista and I have the following problem:
I can´t reduce the open/save dialoge box in Photoshop CS3 as I could in earlier versions, which I find very inconvenient.
It stretches over the whole screen and there seems to be no way of reducing it. There are handles at the corners but they don´t work.
Is this normal in CS3 or could it be just a wrong setting in Windows?

No, it's not normal. There are two things I can think of:
- the dialog repositioning feature of your graphics card is not working properly (NVidia Desktop etc.)
- you resized the dialog in another program and now the huge size has become the system default
In both cases the solution should be pretty obvious - either adjust the settings/ turn off the graphics card's special features or resize the dialog back in the program it was turned huge in the fi8rst place. For the latter, also checking your more general folder view options as well as manually deleting desktop.ini files may offer a way out.

A used the properties settings in flash and sett my both my
stages to 1000 x 600 including my preloader
which the main swf loads into
B used the publish settings to match my document setting in
percent so they align in the middle of the page
Is there anything I can do in dreamweaver so my swf file
always fills the whole browser screen?

A flash file is proportional, and a web browser viewport
isn't necessarily
proportional.
So, unless you are forcing a persons web browser to a set
size (and I'd
STRONGLY not recommend doing that...ESPECIALLY at the size
you want) then
you'll need to confine your actual SWF file to a specific
size on the page
itself.

The stage in Flash is not what tells the web browser what
size to set the
SWF on the HTML page itself. That's done in the HTML when you
'publish/export' your SWF file from flash using the HTML tab.

Well, you set the width and height to 100%, but that will
distort your SWF
file if people change the aspect ration of their browser from
that of the
SWF file.

White on Black without inversing the whole screen

Is it possible to have the windows be White on Black without having the whole screen inverse?
White on Black is easier for Gramma to read but she doesn't like the fact that it makes her background negative. There must be a way, I just can't see it.

By 'background' you mean the desktop picture? Find it in (hard disk)>Library>Desktop Pictures and use an image editor to invert it, save the result and choose it as your picture. Of course icons etc. will still come out negative.

On the new ipod touch, is there a way to enlarge album art to fill the whole screen?

For Christmas I was given a new ipod touch (long story short my old one I put through the wash by mistake ) and this new one is great but when I listen to a song on the new itouch the album art does not fill the whole screen like my old itouch, this is a small detail I know but I loved that feature so much and I was hoping there was a setting I could activate/change which allows this on the new itouch.
At the moment on the new itouch the album art is small and centered towards the top of the screen while the function icons are below the image while on the last one the album art filled the whole screen and the function icons where over the picture at the bottom and didn't stand out as much as it does now.
I have drawn a very rough MSpaint diagram explaining what I mean lol.....

Just sync them to the iPod. See:
