In iMovie, I want to select 1 minute out of a 12 minute clip, but I can't see any times anywhere when I'm trimming the clip, help?

When I'm trimming, all I see is 1.2, 1.3 minutes, etc. I need a clock, which seems like a simple ask to me. Find where the clip is at 1min33secs and grab from there to 2min50secs. Can this be done???

iMovie is by concept a consumer-toytool, meant to be as convenient as possible. I dare to say, the average 'Daddy-does-movies' user edits 'by sight', not 'by numbers'.

What you can do in iMovie, switch-on the skimmer-info (shift-y) and while selecting your portion, it tells you its length.
ok, it lacks indeed the 'position in time',wether you are at 1:33' or at 1:47' ...
But it tells you wether you got your 2:50' or 2:30'
I suppose this is by purpose.
When I edit my soccer-games, I do have the info '82th minute: goal!", so it is indeed helpful to find this location (and I have, using FCPX…aside the odd number-scheme in football to count beyond 60min! ), but, I would never edit just by timestamp - a few secs later or earlier in most cases gives a much better result.- In terms of 'movie making'

Now ALL of my photos are grayed out and I can't see ANY of my pictures unless I click on each grayed out photo individually and open them, ALL of the thumbnails are greyed out. It is THE WORST!! I have no idea how to fix this problem and its been MONTHS AND MONTHS of *** pain. Anyone?? Please help!!!

For a long time, my iphone would see my home network intermittently, but it would always drop the signal. I have been searching the web to try to find a way to resolve this issue. Recently the wifi connectivity seems to have gone completely out.
I just want to allow my kids to use it as an ipod touch.

I actually performed a complete restore on the phone, but it did not work. I then took the phone in to the Apple genius bar, and they diagnosed it to have damaged wifi hardware. Thank you all for your suggestions.

Want to "Share" - but I can't see any video

For at least a year, I have been able to compress my avi video files using the Quicktime Pro "share" function (into .mov) - and then email them to friends and family.
However, 2 weeks ago, after doing the exact same conversion process, the clip popped up in an email - with audio only - and a black screen where the video should be. Interestingly, when I sent this email, my mother said it looked exactly the same as always - no different on her end.
I thought it might have just been one bad clip - but since that time, I can no longer see any video after going through the "share" process. This is a problem for me, as I like to drag the compressed clip into the "movie" page of my iweb and publish it. I also like to see what I'm emailing.
Any ideas on how I can get the video part back after the "share" process?
I am running Quicktime Pro 7.5

How do I get more effects? The tutorials that I've checked into all show a long list of effects in their box. Can anyone help?

To use the existing actions, try the following:
1. Open one of the Action Sets, in this example Special Effects is the Action Set, by pressing the small arrow beside the set name.
2. Then click on the name of the Action, in this example Faded Ink is the Action name.
3. Then press the Play button to run the action.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

You would make address lables with the Contacts app.
If you don't have the user name and password used to set up the machine then you need to purchase the apps for yourself.

Mail app is blank. I can not see any thing but a blank page with blue lined format. It does not shut down either. It just blinks out after a few seconds and the icon is there alone on my home screen then everything goes black and my home screen comes

MY Mail app does not respond in anyway to anything. The icon shows I have over 300 emails but I have no access to them. When I tap on the Mail icon a blank white page comes up with the blue format lines. No emails, no inbox, nothing, not a single letter of the alphabet is there. Within a few seconds it blinks out and I see the icon and my home screen. Soon it just blinks out to black. I am left with the icon at the bottom center of the screen. I have no way to shut it down. I have no access to the emails (300) in my inbox. All that is happening is my memory is getting filled up with emails. I would appreciate any solution to this problem barring deleting my email set up in settings.

If I'm understanding your situation, you've got an iPad running iOS 6.1.3 and the Mail app is not working. I understand you don't want to remove and re-add your email account.
The first thing I would suggest is to make sure your iPad is backed up to iCloud or iTunes.
Do you have an iMAP or a POP email account? When you go online to your email service provider's website, are you able to access the 300 emails in your inbox?
Since the Mail app is part of your iOS operating system, upgrading that software to the latest version, which is 8.1.3 may resolve this issue.

Repartition and format the drive for a Mac:
Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac. You should be able to set a password for it. Save it. Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer, I suppose, back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity. As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro

time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine and go for it. You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups of your stuff.

I need assistance in burning an imovie to a DVD. I've done this before, but am having problems this go around. When I get to the import section and insert the blank dvd it runs a few seconds and ejects it. Any ideas?

The real question is how do I get to hear my blue ray and DVD discs in 5.1 sound? Will this work if I exchange my blue ray player for a Denon 3D blue ray or other player?
