In my Macbook Pro, on a few occassions, the apple menu bar blacks out. its displayed as a negative image. The desktop wallpaper get greyed out and i get a blank screen as wallpaper. No idea why this happens. I reset the system and issue gets resolved.

Iphoto will not re-install after disappearing during a software update, any ideas why this happened?
Before i ran the software update i had to iphoto icons in the launch pad, both had exactlly the same content so i just ignored it for a wile till i needed to update my photos, which i was hoping to do after the update.
However when i restarted both iphoto icons had gone and iphoto seems to have been wiped off my mac completelly, I have got a back up of all my pic and videos so this is not a problem of recovering them.
i have then tryed to instal iphoto from the app store, resulting in there being a perminant downloading icon making no progress over the last two hours.
If any body has any idea why this happened and what i can do to provent it happening again as well as getting iphoto back the help wil be much apricated.In addition to Larry's questions what software update did you apply? Do you still have an iPhoto Library in your Pictures folder? If you do what happens if you double click on it?

my iphone suddenly died as well. Holding the sleep button and home button together got it going again. Any ideas why this happened?

Try clicking the tap problematic apps while the trace is running
Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit)

When you have, open an elevated command prompt and type the following
WPRUI.exe (which is the windows performance recorder) and check off the boxes for the following:
First level triage, CPU usage, Disk IO.
If your problem is not CPU or HD then check off the relevant box/s as well (for example networking or registry) Please configure yours as per the below snip
Click Start
Let it run for 60 secs or more and save the file (it will show you where it is being saved and what the file is called)
Zip the file and upload to us on Onedrive (or any file sharing service) and give us a link to it in your next post.

I updated my phone to the iOS7 and now when i try to use the keyboard, i can't see myself typing and it goes very slowly. I am confused to why this happened. It worked perfectly fine with iOS6. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your response, I forgot to add that the five 3uk sims we have in use, I have tried all of them none of them are recongnised non of them have pin codes, I even purchased four more sims Tmobile (original carrier) Vodaphone, 3 and giffgaff. -
hi, i've just bought my first macbook pro, i just installed office mac and when i open the page i cannot see the minimise maximise and close buttons as it's hidden behind the apple menu bar, also when it's at full screen, those buttons do not appear
Try to edit the size of the page using the sides of the page, or if you are desperate, force quit using command-Q. In full screen put your cursor on the top of the page, and the menu bar will appear. If it doesn't keep "pushing" it up until it does. Hope this helps!

When i open firefox it opens up full screen (as it always has) but now the minimize button is grey (not yellow) and inactive so i can only open (green button) or close (red button) my firefox window. I can still make it smaller by dragging the bottom right corner but i can't minimize it to my dock or anything. Also, I have my dock set to auto show/hide when i roll my pointer over it. Now, whenever Firefox is open (no matter what size the window is) the Finder menu bar (with the time, battery power, etc) does not show up (which it always has before) and my dock won't auto appear when i roll my pointer over it.
Can you check this issue on Firefox 9?

I did not touch my computer the past week, I've only been messing with my laptop. I had my computer off a whole day. I turn it on, open iTunes, and everything is gone.
I system restore. Everything is gone. None of my podcasts, apps, or music files are there. My iPod itself is fine. I restore back to current settings, still, everything gone.
I plug my iPod in. I don't think it took anything off my iPod, but even without syncing, it eliminated a ton of the songs on my iPod from my 'purchased' playlist. Now, these songs will not transfer back over to iTunes because iTunes is not recognizing them as official songs. Is there a link to download/redownload your past purchases again? I was trying to find that but had no luck. (Also my iTunes purchase history is incorrect and has at least 1 omitted song I paid for, but that is another story for another day). I want these songs to transfer to my library so I can put them on a future iPod I bought.
I do things the legal way, I do not illegally get any music. I've bought 800 to 1000 songs from iTunes over the year (now that is a lot of money). Now my iPod is listing it as only 600 and some. This is my second iPod and the second time I've had major issues with the iPod just going crazy on me. I won't stick with Apple if I get screwed out of songs I have paid for.
Anyways, from what I have described, does anyone know what is up? Directions on where to go to download all past purchases? Ideas?
The only potentially bad thing I've done with iTunes at all is I delay updating it as long as possible. I hadn't updated the most recent update for a few months now. Still, that is no reason for the system to go ape **** on me. I am fairly certain at this point that *all* my songs are still on my iPod, but as I said, if this one all of a sudden died or I wanted to get a new one, I'm looking at half my actually bought songs being non-transferrable.

Yes, that tends to delete everything.

Selete Store on the left side of iTunes.
Make sure you are signed in.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick links to redownlaod your purchases.
Then make sure to regularly backup, backup, backup all your important data . -

Subpicture slightly shifted...Any Ideas WHY this happens?

I've created a 16:9-DVD menu with sub-pictures that should appear precisely over
existing text (kinda like a highlighted text when mouse moves over...)
While all looks fine in DVD SP, when watched on a normal set top DVD-Player, the sub-picture seems to be shifted horizontally by 1 or 2 pixels.
Any idea what to do and what is causing this?

Steven R.Hard to tell, but this is what I'd do, if I were you. Repair the HD with Disk Warrior. Once that's finished, boot with your install disk, enter your language, and, when the menu bar pops up, select Utilities-> Disk Utility and repair the disk and permissions. Next, get a bootable, external FireWire HD and clone/backup your HD w/Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper!, etc. Boot from the clone, ensure everything looks and feels like the original, launch Disk Utility, select the original HD, click on the erase tab, click on the Options button and select zero all data, select Mac OS Extended format, and erase the HD. Reinstall the clone back to the HD. Boot with Disk Warrior and see what it says. If everything checks out, that should fix things.

Aloha all, just a quick question for those more experienced than I. What causes files folders etc. to become corrupt enough to need fixing. I run Disk Warrior as a monthly maintaince, habit from OS9 days. Almost every time it finds misnamed or files that need repair. I did a little test last week not upgrading, downloading re-installing anything, just normal usage of Mail, Safari, Aperture, iPhoto, Photoshop, nothing unusual. Yesterday I ran Disk Warrior and there were things out of whack again. Any thoughts as to what causes this? Just curious. Mahalo in advance for any info, tips, etc. JB

I get a message saying there is an error and to try again later. Trying later doesn't seem to have helped. The videos in question are normal "news", youtube, etc. nothing exotic. again, my other browsers seem unaffected.
This may be caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update.

Why this 6509 module reset caused system restart?
I had a 6509 switch recycled power to its 6748-GE-TX module. I like to understand why this module reset caused the system to restart, and what this "system restart" means. Please see the syslog messages (I didn't include all messages).

The message is a bit misleading. The "system restarted" message is coming from the CFC daughter card on the module
"%SYS-CFC9-5-RESTART: System restarted -"
So the entire switch did not restart, but just the module and daughter card. Now, I'm saying that based on the provided messages. You should check the system uptime in the "show ver" and/or the reset logs stored in the NVRAM log "show log" as well.
But, as I said, if the only indication of "System restarted" was in the above syslog, then that's only referring to the CFC.
