In scope of planning ( md01), How to maintain MRP areas in scope of plg?

Hello PP members,
In scope of planning ( md01), How to maintain plant or MRP areas in scope of planning ?
What is the transaction code for maintaining plants or MRP areas in the scope of planning
I tried transaction code SAMP, Also went to SE93( Maintain transaction) for any related transaction codes for maintaining plants in scope of planning, it wasn't much help
Thanks for your time,
Thanks Again,
Suren R

Hi,
we can use Total planning(MD01) for a single plant or use scope of planning to control whether total planning is to be carried out for single plant/sevaral plant/ for one MRP Area/sevaral MRP areas/ combination of plant and MRP Areas.
Steps :
1.Group together the plants which are to be planned in spro in --->Define scope of planning.(OM0E)
2. Define the scope of planning as 999 for ex and give description.
2. Now select that and Specify the sequence in which Plants and  MRP Areas are to be planned,
3.Goto new entries and enter the plant as 1000/MRP Area as 1000 with counter 1 and plant as 1100 with counter 2 and save.
4.Execute the total planning either as online job or as background job.
5.The planning run has to be always started with paralle processing.
In SPRO in define parallel processing in MRP enter the destination for parallel processing for ex your server name and enter the no .of sessions as 1 and save.
6.Tcode MD01 enter the scope of planning group and selet the parallel processing and enter.
7. All the materials to be planned in the plant / mrp area will be planned now.

  • Creating Planned Independent Requirements for an MRP Area.

    Hi All,
    I am trying to enter Planned Independent Requirements for an MRP Area, with requirement type VSE and I get the following error;
"Only stock requirements are allowed when planning at MRP area level".
I can enter at the Plant level with no problems.
    Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
    Kevin.

The following is the excerpt from SAP [Help|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_470/helpdata/en/81/470a58ddab11d1b55b0000e82de178/frameset.htm] I think you maintained a planning strategy in the MRP view (for the plant) which doesn't support VSE.
You can delete PIRs from an MRP area by deleting the MRP area number from the Creating Planned Independent Requirements screen and recompiling.
When you define the planning strategies and parameters in the material master, these parameters apply to the whole plant, including all the MRP areas within the plant: You cannot maintain the MRP areas separately.
The integration of the MRP area and the assignment of the MRP area in the sales order is supported only by a user exit in the sales and distribution user exit pool.
Sales orders with MRP areas are created irrespective of the availability check control group in the material master.
Customer order processing of production sales orders with the item category (account assignment Step E Single) is only maintained in the MRP area of the plant.
In Customizing and in the MRP area user exit, make sure that when transferring individual sales orders, only requirements types KE, KEK, KEKS, KET, KELV, KEV, KEVV, VSEF, and VSE are generated.
The following requirements types are valid for the MRP area: KE, KEK, KEKS, KET, KELV, KEV, KEVV, VSEF, and VSE.
You cannot plan with preliminary planning materials in the MRP area.
There is no planning strategy for the material segment of the MRP area.
The planning strategy for the material master segment of the plant is assigned to the material segment of the MRP area.
The consumption mode and the periods of adjustment are derived from the plant in the MRP area of the material master.
Only consumption customer requirements with planned independent requirements are allowed: VSF requirements with KSV and VSFB with KSV.

  • Consider planned delivery time field in MRP Areas

    Hi,
I would like to know if the "Consider Planned Delivery Time" field in the MRP areas is taken into the scheduling of materials during MRP run? From the help documentation, it seems to be yes. Otherwise the system will take the Planned Delivery Time from the Plant level. May I ask how we can tick this field for all materials? We are currently in the process of activating the MRP areas in our system. Before, we didn't use the MRP areas but we think the need for it has arrived. Is there a mass maintenance tool to do this? Or do I have to use LSMW? Thanks!
    Regards,
    Chester

    Hello Chester
If you flag the field "consider planned delivery time" the planned delivery time defined on the MRP area will be considered by MRP. You should tick it for all the materials if the value from the MRP area should be considered.
Also, the report RMMDDIBE can be used for mass processing of MRP areas.

  • Dear Gurus, how to maintain business area for a line item?

    Hi Gurus,
Thanks for all gurus for your knowledge sharing, everyday i get new things from you gurus,
right now i got one problem, while releasing the invoice i got the error as
"Business Area not entered in the line item  000000012"
where i should maintain the business area details, which T-code,
my friend told me that it is a FICO related issue,Please Guide me gurus,
    Warm Regards,

Business Areas in SAP are used to differentiate transactions originating from different points/lines/locations in business. Let me give some examples to elucidiate:-
A company (say, ABC) is a huge company and has a variety of businesses under it. Let us say that it typically operates in 3 different domains like machinery manufacturing, trading and assembling of machine parts.
There are 2 options here now -
    1. Either create different company codes for the 3 business operations (which would be the easiest and require no creativity)
    or
2.) Create each of these business lines into business areas (the better option).
The advantages of using the second option is:
    1. You can use these business areas if other company codes require the same areas
    2. The configuration is simpler as in case of company code, you would require to go through the entire configuration of creating Chart of Accounts, Fiscal Year variants, posting periods variants and so on. In the business area option, you just need to attach it to the company code and the rest of the details in Business area is attached by default from the company code you are using it in.
    3. Using the options in controlling (EC-PCA, Enterprise Controlling, Profit Centre Accounting), you can even draw up Balance Sheets and PL statements for your business areas and hence this is used for management accounting in some companies (like HP, Dell, etc) when it wants to know the operating profits for different business areas/lines.
The above was an example when the company wanted to separate entries according to the lines it operates in... the other case could be when it wants to find out profitability during its operations in cities and differentiates these cities into Business Areas...
Business Areas are not much relevant in FI but are much more relevant in CO.
You can define business area in
Path: Img-enterprise structure Definition--Financail Accounting --- Define Business area.
Same pathe: Assignment---Assign Business area to Consolidation business area.
Same Path: Logistics General --- Assign Business Area to Plant/Valuation Area & Division
    I hope this clears.

  • Please maintain business area in Pur. Group-Business area table ZBAPRGRP

How to maintain business area in Pur. Group-Business area table ZBAPRGRP?
what is the transcation code and its implication.

    Hi
ZBAPRGRP is not a standard SAP table. You can change it SM30. You have to see if it is an customizing table then you have to transport it. Or an user table.
When it is an user table there should be created a transaction code for it to change. Other wise you have a problem with the settup from your authorization
This information should be in your manuals/ specification from the program that is using this table

  • No Planning happening with scope of Planning for total Planning

    Hi SAP Gurus,
The Scenario is for Consumption based planning and MRP run.
I have created a  New Entry under Scope of Planning for total Planning run and entered the required two plants under sequence of Plants.
I have also entered manually consumption values for trial materials in those two Plants. I maintained MRP and Forecast View.
I then ran MD01 using the Scope of Planning created. But when I check the MD04 results for trial materials, no Planning has happened.
I shows a message  "Pl carry out Forecast for material xxx in Plant xxx "
Then using T.Code- OMDO, I created a variant for each Plant and also Scheduled. But after then also with MD01, No planning is happening.
When I check under T.Code - OMDU, the respective Plants were activated
Pl guide me the steps for Creating of Scope of Planning and then how to set up planning file and what could be the reason materials are not getting Planned.
    thanks and regards,
    R.Velmurugan.

    Dear Mariano,
MRP type VV (forecast based Planning) is used for these materials.
I defined Scope of Planning for Total planning and included Plants in sequence.
Then I created new Variants for Planning file entries for these Plants (T.Code - OMDO).
Then I created new Variants for Planning file entry consistency for these Plants  (T.Code - MDRE)
After then I executed Mass Forecast (T.Code - MP38) and then carried out total planning run using T.Code - MD01.
Now the materials are getting planned.
    I missed Forecast run earlier.
I found the reason for the problem, hence closing the thread.
Thanks to Mariano and Daniele for your inputs.

  • HT201250 Hello i am using TimeMachine to back-up entire Mac image (data + system) on an usb-local drive. I would like (on top of it) add a specific plan to back up some files on a remote network drive. Does TimeMachine support multiple back-up plans ? How

Hello i am using TimeMachine to back-up entire Mac image (data + system) on an usb-local drive. I would like (on top of it) add a specific plan to back up some files on a remote network drive. Does TimeMachine support multiple back-up plans ? How ?

Time Machine is capable of backing up to multiple locations, and can be used to back up to both a local hard drive and a networked drive (provided that that drive is in or connected to a Time Capsule or another Mac that is sharing it over the network). The catch, though, is that you can't specify different things to back up to different destinations. Whatever you exclude from Time Machine backups is excluded from ALL backups, and whatever is included is included on all.
So, get a large enough drive that you can back up everything you want in all locations, or use something else for maintaining the network backup.
More information on these topics can be found here:

  • Scope of Planning for Total Planning

    Hi SAP Gurus,
My Client Scenario is as follows
They import Spare Part materials from abroad to a Main Warehouse (defined as Plant in SAP) and then do stock transfer to around 60+ warehouse in different states (each defined as Plant in SAP).
At any time Stock exists in any of 60+ Plant and Main ware house Plant. However Purchase requirement and Purchase Order is created and placed from Only Main Warehouse Plant.
Now I am implementing Consumption based Planning with MRP.  I am Planning to define a Scope of Planning for Total Planning.
    Clarification I request :
    1. Whether I need to define Only all 60+ Plants in Scope of Planning or can I include Main warehouse Plant also ?
    2. In which case if there is requirement in one individual Plant and there exists stock in another one Plant - whether system will automatically create stock transfer Planned order. What Special procurement type I need to define for this (If it is 40 , whether I need to define any Issuing Plant, since I have 60 + Plants)
    3. If I have to run Forecast and Planning run daily for 60+ Plants and weekly for Main warehouse Plant, Whether I need to create a Separate Scope of Planning for 60+ Plants and a Separate Variant for Main ware house Plant with different Schedules - Am I correct
    Thanks and Regards,
    R.Velmurugan.

    Hi Kumar,
    Thanks for your immediate response.
If we define Special procurement type 40 for 60+ warehouse Plants materials with Supplying plant as Main Warehouse Plant, then if there exists stock in one of 60+ Plants and there is requirement in one of another 60+ plants how system will consider and create stock transfer between them.
Whether stock transfer between 60+ as well as Main plant is Possible ? If possible how to define Special Procurement type ?
Secondly what ever issued from 60+ Plants is the real Consumption of Material (as Material issued from Main ware house plant to 60+ Plants is only stock transfers and not real consumption).
In which case how to go about for forecast and MRP run for 60+ Plants and Main plant ?
    Thanks,
    R.Velmurugan

  • How to maintain bitmap index on a large table in DW?

    Hi all,
We have many tables which are constantly doing either FULL or INCREMENTAL loading.
And we have created many BITMAP indexes and several B*Tree index (caused by PRIMARY KEY or UNIQUE key constraints) on those tables.
So, what I want to know is, how to maintain those BITMAP (and B*Tree) indexes for different loading mode?
like, should I drop the index before the full load and re-create it after that?
and do nothing in INCREMENTAL loading? I am aware that it will take more time to load with indexes.
any links, books, articles or opinions would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

Just to reiterate, add to what Adam said. From Oracle Doc
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17120/indexes002.htm#CIHJIDJG
    Unusable indexes
An unusable index is ignored by the optimizer and is not maintained by DML. One reason to make an index unusable is to improve bulk load performance. (Bulk loads go more quickly if the database does not need to maintain indexes when inserting rows.) Instead of dropping the index and later re-creating it, which requires you to recall the exact parameters of the CREATE INDEX statement, you can make the index unusable, and then rebuild it.
You can create an index in the unusable state, or you can mark an existing index or index partition unusable. In some cases the database may mark an index unusable, such as when a failure occurs while building the index. When one partition of a partitioned index is marked unusable, the other partitions of the index remain valid.
An unusable index or index partition must be rebuilt, or dropped and re-created, before it can be used. Truncating a table makes an unusable index valid.
Beginning with Oracle Database 11g Release 2, when you make an existing index unusable, its index segment is dropped.
The functionality of unusable indexes depends on the setting of the SKIP_UNUSABLE_INDEXES initialization parameter. When SKIP_UNUSABLE_INDEXES is TRUE (the default), then:
•DML statements against the table proceed, but unusable indexes are not maintained.
•DML statements terminate with an error if there are any unusable indexes that are used to enforce the UNIQUE constraint.
•For nonpartitioned indexes, the optimizer does not consider any unusable indexes when creating an access plan for SELECT statements. The only exception is when an index is explicitly specified with the INDEX() hint.
•For a partitioned index where one or more of the partitions are unusable, the optimizer does not consider the index if it cannot determine at query compilation time if any of the index partitions can be pruned. This is true for both partitioned and nonpartitioned tables. The only exception is when an index is explicitly specified with the INDEX() hint.
    When SKIP_UNUSABLE_INDEXES is FALSE, then:
•If any unusable indexes or index partitions are present, any DML statements that would cause those indexes or index partitions to be updated are terminated with an error.
•For SELECT statements, if an unusable index or unusable index partition is present but the optimizer does not choose to use it for the access plan, the statement proceeds. However, if the optimizer does choose to use the unusable index or unusable index partition, the statement terminates with an error.
Incremental load really matters the volume and whether for new dats you just add new partitions or subpartitions . If my incremntal go all over place and/or if I am touching few thousand rows. Yes might want to keep the indexes valid and let Oracle maintain it. IF millions added or incremental data just added to new part/subpart . Keeping indexes unsable for those partitions/subpartitions and the rebuilding it later may yield better results.

  • How to maintain mulitple versions of universe

We are planning multiple projects related to BO reports and each project is going in different time.
How to maintain 2 versions of Universe, when we migrate universe for the Project 1 which is going ahead of the Project 2, I don't want to show the Classess, Objects of Project 2.
Currently I am hiding the classess which goes later. But is there any feature in BO to maintain multiple versions.
I am thinking of maintaining a good documentation on what am I adding, modifying, deleting for the project 2 and apply those changes to Project 1 related Universe and deploy when we migrate the universe for Project 2.
But, I see lot of work will be duplicated as well as lot of documentation, and overtime it becomes a night mare.
Anybody was in similar situation, and how did you handle it.
Currently we are using BO XI R2, and planning to migrate to XI 3.0 in near future.
Anybody know BO has any best practices document on this kind of situation ?
Thank you in advance for your time.

when you are talking about versioing , starting form XI 3.1 SAP business objects released the BusinessObjects LifeCycle Manager for XI 3.1

  • Scope Of Planning

    Hi All
We are using central planning and have defined the scope of planning in configuraton . We have also defined parallel processing .
But we can only see scope of planning field in MD01. We cannot see it in MD02. I beleive MD01 is for planning for single level only . We need to run the planning for single item , multilevel .
Can any one give me step by step procedure for executing the scope of planning run with the settinngs. Thanks
    Kind Regards
    Ayaz

    Dear ,
MRP can be run Singel Item , Singel Level  in MD03 that means materila can be planned individual level in this txn .Where as MD01-MRP Run means total planning irrespective of Plant , MRP Area , MRP Controller , Storae Loaction  or Group of any combination at lowest level of the materail ( Lowest BOM level or Lowest Code ) .That's why in MDO1 , there is an option called Scope Of Planning through which you can plan matyerials in multiple location ( plant , storage loaction , MRP area etc ) based on the BOM structure ( singel level or Multilevel ) .
But in MD02-Singel Item , Multilevel means individual item having BOM , can be planned along with dependenet at its lowest level .So here you can not run MRP at group of plant or other combination as like MD01.But you have option to run at product group level where materials are includede under a product group.
So there is no such set up to run Scope Of planning in MD02 .
    Hope it is clear
    Regards
