In-skin RAS -- missing charts

Hello,
I have a number of reports which were originally developed in the Crystal Reports 8.x environment, which used the RDC API to manipulate charts at runtime. The execution environment was an MFC client application. I am trying to move these to a .NET 4.0 windows forms client application using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 SP1, and using in-skin RAS to perform the chart manipulation. The problem I am running into is that in-skin RAS cannot u201Cseeu201D all of the charts in the report templates. To allow customization of the charts, the original developers created separate footer sections (each containing a chart) for each of a large number of options, and used suppress formulas on the footer sections to decide which one of the 171 charts should be displayed. Granted, this made for long delays opening the report templates, but it did work.
When I open one of these report templates in the designer, I can see that the charts have names of the form (Graph1-Graph171).
However, at runtime, when I obtain the list of charts by calling u201CmyISCDRCD.ReportDefController.QueryChartObjects()u201D, I see chart objects for Graph1-118 correctly, but then the list starts over with u201CGraph1u201D again, repeating the first 63 or so charts, but never revealing the remaining charts that should be there.
In an attempt to find a work-around, I have tried a number of alternative approaches for enumerating the charts. However, they all seem to end up with the same corrupted list.
I also tried opening the charts by name (myISCDRCD.ReportDefController.ReportDefinition.FindObjectByName(u201CGraphxxxu201D)). In that case, any attempt to open a chart after u201CGraph118u201D just fails.
Since only the chart that I am searching for is going to be visible, and it seems like the in-skin RAS is having issues with the large number of charts, I also tried working my way through the charts u2013 deleting invisible charts as I went. However a variety of approaches to this have yielded the same outcome (after deleting the first 118 graphs, getting a new list returns charts named u201CGraph1-Graph63u201D which in theory no longer exist in the report template).
Is this a known issue? Is there any work-around?

Well, more than 120 or 160. Thanks for your response. It suggests another work-around. I will try merging all the charts into one section and then see if I can un-suppress just one chart and positon/size everything correctly at runtime...

Skin shows/ missing topic in main frame

Due to a Robo > host server incompatibility problem, the
Publish feature does not currently work. As a workaround., I'm
trying to ftp all my files from my desktop WebHelp folder to the
host server. Will this method work?
When I check the site with my browser, I see the desired
skin, nav bar, and TOC. However the "home" topic is missing from
the main frame. How do I preserve links (between TOC and pages,
start page and skin, etc.)? Also, do I have to redesignate an Index
page?

Wow, I've got the EXACT same problem with our SRM system. TWPURLSVR seems to have the URL's defined properly for our logical system. Please post back if you indeed solve the problem with help posted. Also, I wonder if there is a way to check that the URL I put in is maintained properly. I just cut and pasted the URL that gets me to bbpstart between the first set of //.../

Missing Charts

Hi,
I have installed recently Flex 3, but the source code for the
charting is not being installed in its correspondent forder ({flex
builder 3}\frameworks\source\mx), event if i try to install again
the Flex Charting 2. I don't know how to find the missing action
script, somedody has had the same problem, or can provide me those
action scripts?

In FB3, the source structure and hence the extraction
directories are changed.
When you provide a valid charting license key, the sources
are extracted to the equivalent folder on your system.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder
3\sdks\3.0.0\frameworks\projects\datavisualization
datavisualization consists of charts and datamanagement. So
if you are interested to find the charts source, it will be
available under the equivalent folder on your system
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder
3\sdks\3.0.0\frameworks\projects\datavisualization\src\mx\charts
If you are still facing some issue, please revert back to us
with the following details :
1. version of the FB
2. any message you are getting when the charting license key
is provided. A screen shot of the same will be more useful.

Setting missing chart data to zero

Hi
I have a dataset from which I draw a line chart.
The data has a transaction date and a summary for purchases for each day.
When I draw a chart I need it to incorporate dates for days where there are no purchases and show these as zero. At the moment it appears to connect the two data points with a straight line. For example if the data has:
12 Oct - Sales £100
13 Oct - Sales £80
17 Oct - Sales £200
the line chart will just draw a line from the 13 Oct data point to the 17 Oct data point, when in reality the sales were £0 for the 14, 15 and 16.
I cannot modify the dataset to insert fake transactions with zero value for the missing days.
Can this be done?

Hello David,
This is really a report design question so you may want to consider moving this thread to the Crystal Reports forum.
The easiest solution is to modify the dataset to return "zero" records but you've said the dataset can not be altered. If your dataset doesn't have values for the "zero transaction" days then Crystal Reports won't chart them. The report can't track "zero" records without the "zero" records being part of the data.
There might be an alternative with some fancy (and potentially impossible) formula work within Crystal Reports itself. If you move this thread to the Crystal Reports forum the report design folks might be able to offer some suggestions.

Printing to a PDF printer form Word 2007-missing charts

I have a word document in 2007. I have pasted 2 charts in it from EXcel 2007. when I try to print to the Adobe pdf printer , the charts dispaeepar..I know that you can SAve as pdf. but I trying to find the reason why? , please help thanks

Sometimes these problems appear due to MS, not just Acrobat so try trouble shooting there also. A first step is to check the print preview and also try to print a sample to paper. You did not indicate the Acrobat version. If it is AA ?.0, then you definitely need to update your Acrobat and that might resolve the problem.
WORD sometimes has problems if you link charts and such, so you might try a version of the WORD file with the charts totally embedded.

Missing "Charts, Images, Text Labels" demo from iWorks Numbers page.

Missing charts and images in DHTML viewer

We are using Crystal 2008 and rendering the report using the browser based DHTML viewer. The report in question contains multiple subreports as well as charts and images. When first viewing the report, none of the charts or images are visible unless we reduce the zoom level to 75% and then they get displayed. If the zoom level is set to standard (100%) the charts and images do not display unless you drill into the subreports.
We tried applying all the service packs up to SP2 to no avail. Is this a bug in the viewer and if so what can be done about it? We have found multiple issues with displaying images and charts in the DHTML viewer.

What if its not a zoom issue but rather a postback issue? The report initially comes up blank, when you change the zoom factor, CR is actuially doing a postback. If you change the zoom factor back to 100, is it still there?
Put a button on the page that does nothing and then click on the button without doing anything in the viewer (This will cause a postback). Does the report come up?
If so, then it is probably a postback issue.

RE: Charts are Missing From OEM Plug-In

- A few weeks ago, we created an OEM plug-in with charts.
At the time, the charts appeared normally.
- But when I tried to reload the OEM plug-in, the charts did not appear on the homepage.
- Could someone please tell me how to troubleshoot missing charts?
For example, under which directory should the charts xml file appear?
And, which log file has the chart related log entries ?

Support does have a force undeploy tool you can use for the case of a decommissioned agent (as you've described). The basic functionality is to remove the deployment entries for the dead agent only from the MP deployment tables (mgmt_mp_deployments, mgmt_mp_deployment_errors, mgmt_mp_nls_substitutions - You'll need to find your MP_GUID from the mgmt_management_plugins table to do it). Of course, doing this manually is not recommended/supported/etc.... so be very careful.
Then you can undeploy from any other agents where it still exists and delete it from the Management Plug-ins page. In this case, the delete of all versions from the repository will enact the final undeploy from the repository and clean up the plug-in.

FLVplayback and missing skin.

Helo all.
I am developing a website that uses the FLVplayback component to play a video. I have also made a custom skin for it as well.
- The SWF file that contains the FLVplayback component plays the video just fine, and has the skin.
- In the HTML document generated from Dreamweaver, everything plays fine as well.
- When i upload everything to a server, the video file plays, but the skin is MISSING!
The SWF containing the FLV playback component, the skin SWF and the FLV file are all in the same folder when i upload everything online.
I feel like I am missing something very simple.
If you have never been told the sky's color, or have ever seen it, how would you know it's blue?

I had placed the containing asp file, the presentation.swf
file and the skin.swf file all in the same directory.

FLVplayback skin works in HTML locally, but not on a server.

I am developing a Flash based website that plays a video file using the FLVplayback component. Everything works fine locally, the paths are all relative and everything (index.html, the SWF with the FLVplayback and the skin SWF) is all in the same place. I have checked my paths and am certain they are correct.
once I upload everything to a server, my skin goes missing. Even though the video plays.
unusual? yes.
frusterating? yes.
solution? none in sight.
(sigh) I hope someone can help me here.

Hi Linda,
As a suggestion, I would try to delete the deployed version and instead of deploying ther RDL file, i would try to upload the file and test it.
If the issue exisit, then I would download the exisiting version from the reportserver and compare the xml versions of the two reports and check if the propoerty is getting over written while deploying.

Flash video losing skins in DW

I am embedding Flash SWF files in my Dreamweaver pages. I
haven't uploaded them yet, but when I preview in browser the skins
are missing from the video. I've tried recreating the flash files.
The skin SWF and the video SWF are in the same folder (along with
the FLA).
Any suggestions?

Please make a test copy of your page (name it something the
public won't
know)
upload all your files (don't forget the Scripts folder)
post a link to your test page.

HTML path to video skins

I have a simple page in HTML with an embedded
movie.swf file and the support files (
AC_RunActiveContent.js, skin.swf, movie.flv).
Everything works fine if I publish it with the html file and
movie.swf are in the same directory. But I'd like to keep
all the movies in a separate directory (at the same level as the
html file). When I publish it, the video works fine but the
navigation bar (skin) is missing.

For those who don't use Dreamweaver, I published everything
in a directory named "video", then moved the html document out of
that directory and changed the following (the use and non-use of /
or .swf extensions can be confusing) :
- in SC_FL_RunContent:
'src', 'video/filename'
'base', 'video'
'movie', 'video/filename'
- in object tag:
<param name="base" value="video" />
<param name="movie" value="video/filename.swf" />
<embed src="video/filename.swf" ...
The "allowFullScreen" problem was unrelated. Apparently,
transparent windows can't go full screen.

RTFTemplateGenerator - migraton Utility

Hi All, I am trying to convert my existing 10g reports to BIP 11g.
Is there a conversion utility for this?
I am familiar with the conversion utility for BIP10g but from my understanding abt 11g, it cannot be reused. Am I correct?
When I use the RTFTemplateGenerator to create templates for my existing reports, I dont see charts and graphs getting converted. Is this expected or am i doing something wrong? What are the other caveats I need to bear in mind when using this conversion utility to create RTF templates?
Also, since I am using the BIP10g jars to create the templates, can I use the same ones in 11g or is there some other upgrade utility i need to use for that?

And also, any mention about charts from oracle reports? do they usually get migrated?

Unique problem for FireFox 3.5, Flash and nginx

The very simple code is on this page http://www.vuka.com/media/swf/vuka.html
All it does is run a flash movie (it does use a skin). If the skin is missing it plays fine.
If after the page has finished loading I hit refresh in Firefox it plays fine.
If I use Internet Explorer it plays fine.
If I run it under my django development server it runs fine for both Firefox and IE.
When I run it on webfaction (the production server) where the file is served up by nginx and the cache has been cleared it does not run in Firefox..
All tests done with Flash 10 (under linux and windows for Firefox). If the skin file is missing it plays (no controls) under the Firefox browser.
I checked the loading order. It does trequest the skin prior to requesting the movie, but I do not know if it finishes grabbing the skin before starting to receive the movie.
I believe the problem maybe that firefox needs to (or should) load all of the skin file before trying to load/play the movie file. The Django developmental server is probably only sending one file at a time, while the nginx tries to send both files.
Any ideas how I can force Firefox (in javascript) to load the skin file completely, before grabbing the movie file? Currently I'm loading everything with a AC_FL_RunContent command .
